Dont waste your time. The guy that was helping me was extremely passive-aggressive the entire time and made me an offer without factoring the diamonds and other gems in. When I asked about it, he claimed he didnt realize I brought diamonds and when I pulled out a ring with a diamond that I already have an appraisal on for over $4,000, he looked at it and said yeah I could get this for $20 from India. Honestly one of the worst experiences Ive had with customer service, ever.

We have been clients of Houston Gold Exchange for over twenty years, (Westheimer location) purchasing an engagement ring, wedding bands, watches, and anniversary / special occasion jewelry gifts. Our most recent purchase was a custom-designed (in-house) ring, which we love.We choose to do business with HGE because it is a family-owned business, and not a dime-a-dozen chain-store at the mall. We liked how the HGE staff interacted with us for our fairly modest purchase, treating us just as if we were high-rollers. All in all, just a really nice shopping experience.

Go spend your money elsewhere!I walked in, the short guy, grey haired with glasses did not greet me or sayhello I asked do they buy and sell jewelry? He said WHAT? Loudly. I then said I am looking to sell and old ring and buy a new one for my husband. I asked where are the mens rings. He abruptly said we dont SELL Fashion rings! He pointed to the case and said this all we have for men and walked off. I asked if they have a jewelry designer, said he is off for two weeks. I clearly was unwelcomed and traveled to another jewelry to spend my hard earned money.

Had a wonderful experience at this location. The owner helped us right away did not try to oversell us, provided us with the exact cut we were looking for and set it in our ring right on the spot. This is one of the first places I have been to that showed us the diamond under a microscope and was actually educated instead of just trying to make a sale. Very professional and I highly recommend this location before going anywhere else. This will now be our new jeweler and new place to go for any of our jewelry.

The Houston Gold Exchange switched my diamond when we upgraded my wedding set leaving me with a diamond of noticeably lesser quality and significantly less value. I had an appraisal on the old diamond, but HGE refused to honor it saying I could not prove anything without an etched i.d. on the stone. I had been previously trained by a reputable jeweler to identify the very minor flaws in my old stone using a jeweler’s loop. The new stone had entirely different flaws and had fluorescence which my old stone did not have. The appraisal they gave me on the new set reported the color of the diamond was several shades darker (K-L) (mine was an F-G), but the clarity was higher. Houston Gold Exchange said my job was managed by a “temporary” repair staffer who had been hired during the holidays to help with the holiday rush, but they never accepted responsibility for the theft. They are deceptive, rude, arrogant and should never, EVER, be trusted!!! 😡😡😡

I buy jewelry alllllll the time and most of the staff seemed cool when I walked in and nice at face value but the grey haired guy (I’m assuming the owner) was very dismissive and short which I’m not used to at all -especially if I’m expected to spend money.... he also gave a quick quote -that was $300 less than that a regular pawn shop down the street for a ring I brought in (his offer being about slightly less than 20% of what I originally paid) -but I ended up just keeping it rather than being cheated (I’m glad I got a second opinion tho)- he was the only off putting part so As long as he is avoided the place is ok - I won’t EVER be back lol I DO HIGHLY SUGGEST REINERS INSTEAD I like dealing with ppl that make me feel welcomed

Brad and his watch gurus helped my husband today. We needed 3 watch batteries and one Tag to be sized. We have used them for years and have always had a great experience at a very reasonable price.

We continue to use Houston Gold Exchange for all of our jewelry needs. Using diamonds from one of my belated grandmothers ring, they were able to create a brand new look for my wifes original wedding ring. Also, using the diamonds from my old wedding band (I hated it) and also leftover diamonds from my grandmother, they created a more modern look on the new wedding band I purchased. This band is so much more comfortable than my first one, which I purchased elsewhere. We run to them every time our watch batteries go out. They replace it while you wait and never over-charge. I was actually given my last battery for free. My mother also goes there for her jewelry needs now. You can expect to go in and see the same friendly faces year after year.

I recently stopped by Houston Gold Exchange to sell gold. The manager and/or owner first had me talk to an associate, but when he found out I was selling gold he quickly took over the conversation and said he was very concerned about my gold coins. They were 1 oz. Krugerrands. I knew where he was trying to go with this (South African coins = very low price), which is BS. I immediately stopped him and said I was not at his shop for a history lesson (I was polite and said sir), just wanting to sell gold. He obviously knew he was not going to get the ripoff price he wanted and stated he would not buy from me. No problem here! When I walked in I noticed the store had downsized significantly from the last time I was there. Obviously their business is doing poorly, and I know why!! Dont go there!! Went to Houston Gold Buyers in mid-town and they gave me top dollar for my gold!

In general, Scott (the owner) is arrogant and very dismissive...and without actually talking to me about the watch, very eager to get out of warranty work on my watch. I purchased a Ladys Presidential Gold Rolex from him and had to bring it back for repairs to be done under warranty. In a very short manner, he asked have you done a COA on it?. Whats that I ask. As if I should know this, curtly he replies Cleaned, oiled, adjusted. I told him that another store (where Id bought a ring) out of courtesy cleaned my watch and reset the time. Oh, well, I think your warranty is void. What, why?!? He said Because we dont trust other stores to open our watches. Well look at it. I had to clarify that they just set the time and cleaned the band; Reiners didnt open it. Dismissively again, Well look at it. It was a struggle just to ask when I could expect it to be ready to pick up. Im doubting that Ill get a satisfactory result. But they have my watch, so Im hoping. If when I return to pick up my watch and they treat me better, with some respect, and as a customer that spends $1,000’s, then Ill update this review.

I have had a super bad experience with this company. i went there today tried to sell them some gold bullion, but they refuse to talk to me without seeing the physical gold, the owner looking person just turned his back and ignore me. Never Buy From Them, Period!

I am a college student down the street: at the Houston Community College, Hayes rd campus.(down the street) And for a month I studied the value and current price for Silver and Gold. hoping to pay my Tuition for the upcoming semester. I recently took a bunch of Sterling Silver Of all sorts. Jewelry, Silverware 48 pieces, Mint Julep Cups, Wine cups & etc. The dealer stated that they pay by weight and The weight was 113.00 ounces and he offered me 107.00. cash for one hundred and thirteen OUNCES of Sterling Silver. And said I would not get any more than that any where else. Why would you all Lie to Me but tell another Patron different. I felt Stereotyped and judged. BECAUSE OF MY RACE And further more I had to ask how much it weighed, and you all never told me how much you pay per gram or per ounce for silver. But yet you treated other Patrons differently. This is not the best place to bring your items, you may be judged as to where they came from. not how much it weighs and etc. I am a Native of Houston and YOU have Houston in front of your brand name; so it would be a better business etiquette to honor your title. I see why the parking lot in front of your business, Is always EMPTY. BAD BUSINESS DEALERS.

Ive been a customer of Houston Gold Exchange for more than 25 years and I have to say this local jeweler always delivers in price and quality so I keep going back. I recently took an old nugget ring in for them to evaluate that I bought back in 1982. It had some pretty extreme wear so I wanted to see if it could be salvaged/refurbished since it carries some sentimental value. Among the issues were a small stone needed to be replaced that had fallen out from wear and it needed new prongs for the center stone. Almost every part of it needed attention to keep other small stones from coming loose from 37 years of wear and tear, it was in sad shape. I love the old ring though so I asked them to take care of it for me and see what they could do.A short time later they called me to say it was ready and I was amazed when I saw the ring, it looked brand new. I couldnt believe how much material had worn off over time. The skilled jeweler was able to bring it back to its old glory and like new condition. This is not a big gaudy nugget ring but a more sedate version and it looks absolutely stunning. Brads folks did an outstanding job with it and I could not be more pleased. Thank you Houston Gold Exchange, you exceeded my expectations again!

Extremely unprofessional. They were rude and just lacked basic customer service skills. They offered me $1,200 for a $9,000 Neil Lane bridal set which whatever, I simply left and sold it online to WP Diamonds and received $3,500 within 48 hours so it worked out but I’m now receiving odd, unprofessional emails from the “owner.” Just a bad experience all around. Maybe it’s a good place to buy from but I definitely don’t recommend selling high quality items here.

I went in to sell a piece of jewelry, Brad was very helpful and honest. He went above and beyond to explain and show me things about my jewelry. Additionally, I had them replace a diamond and clean my wedding rings. Brad showed me how I was able to lose a diamond and explained to me how he could fix it. He sent me detailed diagrams, suggestions on gem sizes, etc. He kept the piece under my budget and it turned out better than I could have ever hoped. Recently upgraded my wifes engagement ring and sold the old 2.5 Ct E color Princess cut stone that I bought from blue nile to Houston Gold Exchange. The experience from start to finish was top notch and just plain unforgettable. Till now I still blame myself as to why I wasted so much damn time, gas, and effort driven around town just to get SLAPPED in the face instead of coming to Houston Gold Exchange in the first place. I went to 3 different establishments, one thought I was an idiot and lowballed me by saying that they couldnt verify my GIA report, one took the Art of Lowballing to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL because apparently your stone was TOO BIG and has low resale value. And the last one, a one man operation, had to look for a buyer, which then he couldnt find..I was drained and exhausted till I find Houston Gold Exchange. I worked with the owner Brad, he was professional, honest, trustworthy, knows his jewelry and doesnt try to just scheme you alive. And he projects this friendly, welcoming vibes that makes me felt like I had known him for many years! He verified the GIA report and looked at the diamond with me in the microscope, told me that it was a such a beautiful stone, gave me and offer that was more than what I hoped for! And the entire process happened so fast that I thought I was dreaming after wasted so much time at other places!! Just last week I brought in 6 gold chains, a bracelet, and a watch, that needed repairs. Rip-off! I took 3 rings to sell, 1.1 carat Vs1 E diamond ring on platinum, 2 carats sapphire ring on white gold, and another small yellow gold ring. They offered me $350 for all 3. It was a joke! I was offered $2000 from another jeweller only for the diamond ring.

Fabulous experience! I wanted to get a new setting for my old one carat oval diamond engagement ring to make it look different. I had shopped at Jared and Kay’s but they didn’t have a nice selection or the customer service that I wanted. As soon as I walked into the HGE I was cheerfully greeted by Brad. He truly went out of his way to find me the perfect setting.

Victoria gave me excellent service, an honest appraisal and a good price for the pieces.I had a costume jewelry example of what I wanted, and asked Brad to work with me to build a bigger and better set, of course, with the real thing. Brad fashioned a beautiful ring for me with a beautiful center set of hand-picked stones and Anniversary Bands on both sides. My experience working with Brad was very positive. I had a number of items that had been sitting in a jewelry box for years that were not being worn. I took everything in that I don’t wear and Brad helped me find several trade items that I thoroughly enjoy and now wear regularly. He was also very helpful with suggestions to repurpose one hoop diamond earring for me because I lost The other one. Brad made two earrings out of the one and now I have some great every day diamond loops to wear. They go great with the cross necklace & bracelet I traded for! Last, but not least, they took a good quality watch I was ready to throw away and made it look like new. I was shocked at the transformation. Overall, I was pleased and impressed with a variety of services provided. My husband and I are very happy to have found a jeweler we believe we can trust and will definitely refer our friends.

Worst customer service experience ever! I went over there to get my rings sized and the gentleman that helped me had a horrible attitude, he was extremely unprofessional and rude. He didn’t want it to answer any of my questions. I don’t recommend this place.

Very cool and approachable staff! I dont usually deal in the business, so when it came time to sell gold I was intimidated to walk in. Talking with Andrew made everything clear, and he is Frank and honest in his deal.

I went here recently to resize a bracelet/anklet. The links on this piece are particularly thick and oddly shaped, I was told before that after adjustment the piece may not stay on in the same way (instead of laying flat it may tilt to the side due to adjustment). However, Jordan did an amazing job and managed to keep the piece staying on the body in the same orientation as before adjustment. The work was done VERY quickly and I cannot even tell the piece was adjusted at all (except the fact that the size now fits). I explained how over 35+ years of wear, the stone has come out at least 3 times and was lost.The personalize attention from Brad and his master jeweler was reassuring that I was in the right place. The master jeweler explained how he would completely replace the original mount for the replacement stone to insure longevity. They helped me choose a beautiful stone at an awesome price, which allowed me to upgrade from the original size. As a bonus, they even offered to repair another favorite ring with a scuffed stone. Upon receiving the completed work, I could not be more pleased. I am thrilled with my rings.

Customer service was no good I brought in a 14 karat gold necklace that was weighed at 17 g and they only gave me 225 for it when it was worth 500 and lie to me telling me that it was not worth no more than the actual gold price

I sold four of my watches here. 2 Rolex, Cartier and an Omega. They were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I researched several other buyers in town and was offered the best here. They offer me at least 20% more than any other places that offered me. I have other watches and when the time comes to sell those I will definitely be back.

I brought in an antique gargantuan silver TAXCO swivel necklace that had broken on one of the 50+ swivels for repair. Jordan (master jeweler) repaired/soldered it with no problem. I cannot even tell where he did the repair. HIGHLY recommend.

My husband bought my wedding ring here in 1993. I always loved it but after 25 years, I just wanted an upgrade. They took the diamond from my original ring and created a custom ring with a halo of diamonds around my marquise. The original ring was dipped in rhodium and the diamond replaced with an emerald, which is my birthstone. The day I came to pick up my rings, I was so nervous! I was afraid that I might be disappointed! My reaction was, “Wow”! I couldn’t have been more satisfied! I now have two very beautiful and extremely sentimental rings to wear! Thank you!

Ive purchased several diamonds here and theyve always shown the diamonds to me under the gem-scope to explain exactly what I was purchasing. Its hard to find that kind of honesty and integrity anywhere else.

Im a customer who is highly offended at the deceptive trade practices, poor client interface and lack of response to correct.I quickly developed an unsavory impression of their staff from the moment I walked in their door and later with the owner.I went to see J.T. Mack - he was quite proud he’d been sizing rings for 44 years and assured me it would be perfect.I picked up the ring the next day and he bragged that it was even easier than he thought it was. I promptly gave him an $80 tip (I’m sure he doesn’t get many of those).I returned to the Philippines where I have a second home and was extremely disappointed to find out the ring was in fact a full size larger than I had instructed (and as per his measurement on the little steel sample size ring I brought with me)I stay busy and live overseas most of the time so coming back to get something corrected in not an option. I tried to get the gentleman who sized the ring on phone and had to deal with getting hung up on by their staff. And a second time to boot.Twice more the next day just for insisting kindly but firmly (as you don’t get results being rude) on getting the name of the gentleman who serviced me. I thought surely the nice tip would earn me some points and get a solution in the works.To make matters worse, I left a long message on the owner’s voicemail and never heard back.Okay, so I wasted $370.00 – no big deal. But even worse is I find out from a jeweler in London the ring must be stripped down because he should have known better to size it in the first place! As I understand it, he (TJ Mack is his name) essentially took all of the wiggle room to effect a better solution – one more expensive but logical. The jeweler, (London’s best and has the Queen’s warrant)¬¬¬¬ said they could not help me but indicated it was going to cost me at least $3,500 to correct his mistake!But wait, it gets better! I now have reason to believe that my diamonds were in fact “changed” out for lesser quality. I had a bad premonition on this and I even brought my certification with me to let them know that my $13,000 ring had been appraised. I cannot attest to the switch of diamonds but a jeweler here said they’re not the same based on what he saw on the appraisal. I need to send it off for another G.E.M. but if I find out it is true, I will take legal matters into hand.And worse of all - My fiancé has had to walk around with a plastic wedge under her finger and does not have the confidence to open her hand (from a fist) to show her ring.I would think long and hard about doing business with someone who has exceedingly rude employees with the personality and ethics of a time share salesmen.What a disaster on every front.

I had such a wonderful experience here. I had a few small diamonds to sell and Brad took such good care of me. I was able to exchange them for an emerald estate piece that is one of a kind.
