When we picked up our SUV it seemed like it was never cleaned, we had to clean it out ourselves, not the way we wanted to start our trip. However, when we returned the vehicle the manager at the Maui airport was exceptional! She apologized and made it all right taking care of our group. When we go back will definitely use National again due to her.

Getting our car on Honolulu was nice & easy, but the drop off, not so much. Once returned, we were only told to get to the airlines we needed to take the elevator down & across. No hospitality or gratitude. Want your receipt emailed or printed?Little did we know, it was a half mile walk to get to Hawaiian Air, all the way at the end. Perhaps asking what airlines are we with? & that there is a bus to take you there would be a bit more helpful.and for that 3 stars max

We had an issue with our car but we managed to keep it and use it through our stay and the issue was not charged to us since we called shortly after picking it up. The woman at the counter was super kind! I told her we were there for some special events and she got us an upgrade! She really kicked off our vacation in a nice way!

I am blessed to be able to secure a rental car at National @ Honolulu airport for 3 days short trip to Hawaii between July 9 -11.Service is great, car condition is awesome. Price is very reasonable.I highly recommend National.Happy to be a National Executive Elite member.Will definitely put National as my number one choice for rental car for next trip.

We picked up our car at Honolulu International airport and the customer service was exemplary. Welcoming & aloha spirit. Quick service & car was ready for us -- very clean & great condition & a full tank of gas. Price for the week (including all the fees) was $400 --- very affordable. Although the whole airport is under construction, the return process was super simple --- just follow the signs.

I used National for the first time during a recent trip to Oahu. The pick up and drop off processes were efficient and the staff was friendly! There was no line at all despite it being the start of Labor Day weekend. The only issue I found was the quality of the car. There were noticeable cosmetic damages to the vehicle to both the interior and exterior. It was the most damages Ive seen in a rental car. Despite this, the car functioned well.

The staff were all wonderful and a pleasure to deal with. They were very responsive to our inquiries and even assisted us with the best pricing for their rental cars. Check in process and check out drop off was smooth and quick. Not an exaggeration to say the best rental car experience I have had to date. Than you!

Been an Executive Elite with National for several years now and always the best service! It’s great to walk right out from baggage claim and get your vehicle - even with the current construction. Watch for temporary signs when returning as the construction is moving the return drive-in location and you have to follow the temporary detour signs. Not a big deal though, but took me a second trip around to get over to the correct lane.

Was very impressed with National car rental at Honolulu airport. As an Emerald Club member, I received the right car at a great rate. Even though my flight was 12 hours late, I was able to get my vehicle upon arrival. Easy pickup and return. Thanks National!

I want to say this is the first time I have ever used National car rental. I was treated with a warming welcome in Honolulu HI and was upgraded for a small fee because I needed a bit more space. With the prices of car rentals at this time they were able to set a very reasonable price, not breaking the bank for my trip. I will for sure rent from them again in the future. The folks in Honolulu were the best -- I had lost my drivers license and needed to search for it. They were understanding and were willing to help me in any way possible and then expedited my rental once I found my license. Service was good and staff was friendly. We rented 2 SUVs because we had a family of 9 on vacation. One SUV (a Ford Explorer) was good...low mileage, well equipped, and nice interior. The other SUV (Nissan Pathfinder) was not low mileage, it was poorly equipped, and had a modest interior...but the biggest problem was that the rear liftgate was damaged and would not lock...something we didnt discover until we had traveled a somewhat long distance from the rental location. It affected our vacation, because we could not leave anything in the vehicle or leave it in places where it might be broken into.

Rented a vehicle at Honolulu International Airport. Even though I had to wait for my car for an hour due to lack of vehicles on April 22, 2021 the customer service was exceptional. Travelers at other rental companies waited for several hours and one of my friends never got his vehicle at a competitor.The vehicle was clean an ran fine. The final bill was good for 8 days in Hawaii. I always rent from National for business or personal use. I would recommend them for your rental car needs.

I rent vehicles for week and month long work trips. Unfortunately, our company just switched carriers and it has been awful. I choose National for personal travel - the personnel are friendly and helpful, the vehicles are clean and within reason. Keep up the good work National!!

I made a reservation 2 months ago for a vehicle. I called and confirmed two days prior to arrival. I did let them know at the time that the flight I was on would come in at 8:30pm which is right before closing. I was told they would wait and gave me their direct number. Yesterday, I called when I departed the airport to informed them there was a slight delay but that I would be there. They took down my flight information. I called again when I was on the flight to let them know we would be touching down on 10 mins and I would run over to them. By this point it was 9:10pm. The lady laughed and told me they leave at 9:15pm. I told her that I had called to confirm and was told they would wait. She just repeated that they left at 9:15pm. I called again when I started heading that way but no one answered. I got to the 4th floor garage by 9:25pm and no one was there. I went to Sixt and Noemi was so nice and got me into a bigger vehicle for the same price as National.Update: I emailed and was asked for a phone number. I provided my number and received and email back. I am uploading a screenshot of that. So, although, the policy is to stay 2 hours after a flight that has been delayed, they did NOT honor this. My flight was scheduled to arrive at 8:52pm but was slightly delayed (they had flight info) which caused me to get to the parking garage by 9:25pm (I bypassed the checked bags to get there faster). Additionally, my flight information was listed when I made the reservation. Unprofessional on their part!

When I arrived to the Emerald Isle, there were a total of two cars to ‘choose’ from (used the quotes there because when I told the agent a compact SUV should work she have me keys to one of the cars [i.e. no choice]). When I arrived to the Nisan Kicks, the front passenger side was damaged, and there was some kind of paint on the rear passenger window. Not a big deal, so long as I’m not charged for the pre-existing damages at the end of the rental period.When my family entered the car, there was an ever-present odor. Additionally, the speakers in the car sounded as though they have been blown, and the car’s engine left us wanting.Lastly, I was asked if I wanted the rental agreement printed or e-mailed. I try to be eco-friendly where I can, so I opted for e-mail. I never received an e-mail with my rental agreement until I returned the car (wouldn’t have done much good if I were to have any problems).Please do note: all the National employees I interacted with at Honolulu International were lovely and I have no concerns there. I simply hope that the specific vehicle I rented is taken out of service, or goes through a deep detail (and has the speakers replaced).

Easy pickup,, Easy return. Advise to go with small size anything larger than a Camary or small SUV is difficult to park at most hotels.

Didn’t actually rent a car with National but after a little terminal confusion on our day of departure, a custodian of National kindly drove us from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 in time for our flight from Oahu to Maui. We unfortunately didn’t get the kind gentleman’s name but he truly saved the day for us. I’ll be emailing to try and get his details so I can send a nice gift as a way of gratitude. Thank you, National and the driver who picked us up!

My reservation was preserved when I checked in. I didnt have to worry about getting a U-Haul instead. The person working the desk was patient, and verified my COVID vaccination status with ease. Luckily, they had a car big enough to carry our stroller (veer wagon) and our large luggage. We just had to wait for it because it was being cleaned.I had no issues returning it the car at the end of the trip. I also didnt spend $1000 for my rental period.2021 VW Tiguan

My rental experience with National in Honolulu was fantastic. They had my car ready for me on time, with no issue. Drop off was a breeze. The onsite location was terrific as well.

Fast service. I did try to see about getting a slightly smaller vehicle than the presidential Escalade we were given, but nothing was available and it ended up working just fine.

Honolulu airport staff both check in and check out was excellent beyond my expectation. Very pleasant and swift service. But I had to wait 15 min. for airport shuttle to go back to terminal. There are many others waiting before me.

The fleet is really old, worn out and have high mileage. The cars also aren’t cleaned or sanitized plus they are running too many brands out of 1 rental center. It was overly crowded and too congested fit COVID protocol.

We rented from this location on our recent trip to Oahu. The location has friendly customer service (front desk/pick up service and drop off service). They had a good variety of cars to choose from and better prices than the car rental desks at Waikiki hotels. They have 24 hour drop off times, much better than hotel drop off times. It is an easy walk from terminal 2 and they have a shuttle that takes you to terminal 1. The directions back to the garage to return the car are marked really well as you enter the airport road. Fantastic experience was capped by the fact that we left an expensive hand bag in the car and got a call right away that prompted us to return back and pick up our bag before we went through the airport check in process.

My flight comes in at 8:50p and they close at 9:00p but says they can only hold it until 9:15p. Of course I didnt make it in time. What car rental place closes at 9? I have to go back to airport to get my car the next day.

Customer service was outstanding at the HNL airport in Oahu. Kind, courteous and respectful. Car was brand new, and spacious, perfect to drive around the island. The staff definitely had the spirit of aloha despite the fact that we are in a pandemic. It’s always a good time to go to Hawaii, no matter the circumstances!

You can go directly to the 4th floor if you hold a membership. The front desk lady is super friendly and helpful. I obtained the Executive Elite status through status match but was only provide a choice between Camry and Accord when we arrived late afternoon on Dec. 27. Guess there may be a wider selection in normal days.

Got there after 10 hours of travel to find out, after reserving and paying for a car 2 weeks prior, that they could not locate our reservation- NO CAR! POOR SERVICE and NO COMPENSATION!

I rented a car here from November 5, 2020 to November 10, 2020. This National Car Rental rental location is still open. Its in the Rental Car Center at the airport, in the parking garage across from Terminal 2 arrivals. Since I was arriving from the mainland, I was asked to sign into the Safe Travels website and pull up the QR code to show a line under the code saying that Im Exempt from quarantine. A screenshot of the QR code taken before arrival was insufficient, as this line only gets added after you have gone through the arrival screening at the airport and shown them your printed-out test result from an approved provider. That also means you should make sure you have a cell phone with data when you arrive. Apart from that, very prompt service, great car. Return was also straightforward, and the returns part of the rental car center seems shiny and recently renovated, although it is quite a long walk from T1 security. Would rent here again.

Quick easy rentals and friendly staff.

Have been loyal to National for years but this was probably the worst experience ever. Very few Emerald aisle options. I had to ask for a switch as the car they gave me had stained seats and hair on the seat. Makes me wonder if they even disinfected the car properly.

It is NOT POSSIBLE to speak to ANYONE on the telephone at this location.I had a simple issue that could have been resolved in 20 seconds had there been a way to talk to someone at this National location. Because this is not possible, I had to go through massive, time consuming hassles with central reservations.

Great Customer Service. Car was clean and tank was full when I picked up my car. Please have better signs up for car returns at HNL. I had to circle the airport 2 times to find the return lot. I will definitely rent from National again.

The Map that you send for the Rental Car Return at HNL in Waikiki is awful and doesnt direct you to the return. It just takes you on a tour of the airport.

I originally tried to attempt a car from hertz car rental agency that I found a good deal with online. When I got there they pressured me into a larger vehicle and charged me $600 to rent a car for two days. I went to look at the car and realized I didn’t feel comfortable driving a vehicle that big. I went back and cancelled it. I went to national in hopes that they would have something for me, especially considering I did not have a reservation. Not only did they have something but they were able to ensure that I was comfortable with the size of the vehicle. Isaac was the one that helped me at the airport location and he was amazing! I am so thankful for his assurance. Not only were they able to find me a smaller vehicle but it was half the price! The check in process when I returned it was super easy! I highly recommend National Car Rental and I will be using them again for sure!

Location was within easy walking distance from baggage claim and I was able to leave my mother with the two kids to pick up the car. Staff were friendly and efficient. The car was spotless and a pleasure to drive with great gas mileage. Dropping off the car was as easy as the pickup and, again, within easy walking distance of where I needed to be. We picked up a rental car at Honolulu airport March 1, 2020 at 11:00pm and unfortunately had to drop it off 2 weeks earlier than scheduled. From the staff at pickup to staff at drop-off we had excellent, friendly service! The rental car itself - a Nissan 4 door sedan - was a great choice as it was very good on gas (we drove around the island several times), easy to drive and park! We would recommend National Rental Car (and their Emerald service).

They are organized and quick! Upon arrival at the airport, they moved customers quickly through check-ins and had the cars ready. When I returned the car, it was the same experience. My bill was exactly what was stated beforehand and there were no issues. All of their staff were really friendly.

This was the most amazing experience! Valerie and Tyler made this trip start out much less stressfully. WE originally had a booking through Hawaiian airlines, but when we got to the airport, the airlines couldn’t find our booking! So, we were left to find something else quickly for our family vacation. I have had a really stressful week, so this was just the icing on the cake! Being in customer service, myself, I can tell you that disgruntled customers are generally not something we want to deal with! However, Valerie recognized my stress and went out of her way to help me out. I thanked her profusely and we shared a laugh together over a common misconception about customer service that Tyler also found amusing! Thank you, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts! I love their service and the ability to accommodate my vehicle request. I usually do plenty of highway so not all cars have comfortable driver seats, so when I mention that, they always are helpful in helping me get what I want. And it the same level of service at any location! My go to car rental agency is always National Car.

Recently rented from National Car Rental in Honolulu and Kahului. Both experiences were excellent. The staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful. From the time I got to the rental counter till I was in my car was by far the shortest time Ive ever experienced with any other company. The emerald isle worked perfectly. We were able to chose a vehicle that was exactly what we needed for 6 passengers. The staff were very accommodating and helpful and upon returning the car, again the staff were excellent!!

This place was a little bit of a walk from our gate but I say its better than having to Uber to another rental place not at the airport. Val helped us out and was incredibly friendly and informative. She made the experience fast and smooth. I called at 8:33 PM on Sunday July 28, 2019 and spoke to a man (sadly I couldnt hear his name) about adding another day for our rental. He too was very helpful and made the process go by quickly. Drop off was easy so long as you dont miss the Car rental return sign as youre heading to the airport. There is a huge parking lot with each rental companies name that tells you were to drop off the car. Super explanatory and easy. I would definitely use them again.

The Chevy Suburban was a pleasure to drive and spacious enough to handle the five plus bags.The pick-up & drop off procedures were easy and trouble free.I would use National Car Rental again gladly on my next vacation.

The pickup from the Honolulu Airport was smooth and went off without a hitch. I wish it was noted that the passenger seat didnt recline when we picked up the car because long drives around the island without that ability was a bit annoying. Dropoff was just as smooth despite a long line of cars - we were met by an agent within 5 minutes of pulling up. The location at the airport is super convenient - doesnt require a shuttle to get to.
