NO CARS ONSITE this is not a pick up or return location just a desk in a hotel lobby. Staff then give you a map to find the car lot which you can walk about 20 mins to or wait for a shared shuttle about the same time. Its like pre ordering dinner then when you go to pick it up being told its ready but you need to get it from the storage 20 mins away. This is unacceptable and should be advertised accurately on the website. If we knew this we would have NEVER booked through Dollar. I believe all Dollar location in Hawaii are similar.
Note to all: this location does not exist and has been closed. Hotel staff indicated this while we searched all over for it…
Best prices for a one day rental. We had originally reserved at a renal agent in our hotel, but it was going to be over $100, we got it at the Hale Koa for about $50. The gentleman who helped us (sorry I forget his name) was SUPER nice, very enthusiastic, and helpful...kudos if we need a car we will go back.
Renting at the Hale Koa was convenient. Dollar advertised a Toyota Corolla, but there were none to be had so we settled for a Kia Soul. Not a bad car for motoring around the island, but the previous driver had smoked in it and it reeked of stale tobacco smoke for several days until we could get it aired out. The key fob remote didnt work. On the bright side, we were in Hawaii for a couple of weeks enjoying the beach and sunshine, and lots of Hawaiian Aloha!!
The Hale Koa desk was very helpful
Way over priced
Good prices.
Terrible, unprofessional service, if you can even call it service. Rude and unfriendly, lots of hidden rules, not a good company attempting to gain customers business
