I would give ZERO stars if I could. We had the worst experience with them, and I travel A LOT for business. This is the absolute worst customer service experience I have ever had. We got our beaten up kia Soul and half way to the hotel we noticed the low tire light was on, walked around & saw no flat tire but did not closely inspect them, we parked the car. We went to go leave for a whale watch cruise a couple days later, tire was completely flat! We had to pay $100 in uber fees to get to our tour on time. We called the rental car agency to have them come help us, because they DIDNT have a spare tire in the car! We inspected the tires and 3 of them were new/same brand. The 1 tire (flat) was a different brand, bald, had gouges all over it!! I had to pay THEM for the new tire!! They first wanted me to pay to tow it back to their hotel for $400! I told them I would no do that because they let their vehicle leave with an unsafe/hazardous tire that was obviously put on before we picked it up. It looked like a used tire that had been beat to heck. I have pictures and videos showing it. Eventually they charged me $120.00 MORE to have them bring me a car and take that car and have me pay for their tire. I would NEVER recommend renting from them. Mostly because they were SO incredibly RUDE (Mark and Tom from Honolulu airport) even when the delivered the car ( that I had to pay for) the man Tom was extremely rude, ripped papers out of my hands and tried to drive away before helping us. I would like my $120 refunded and a comp for the uber rides we had to take ($139) to our whale watch cruise that was non refundable. Someone could have been seriously hurt by the tire they put on their vehicle, no to mention they do not put spares in their cars.I should have been in no way responsible for their neglect on safety and their complete unprofessional-ism. They may have good reviews for those who didnt have any issues, but just be aware they will screw you if anything happens such as a flat tire.

The front desk worker was amazing...He helped me.with directions and answered all of my questions....I got a full sized car...quickly through the paperwork I was on my way to the car stall #44... I looked at what was in stall #44 a beat up car...it was a charger with chips and dents on the exterior, all around the bumpers were scratched....but that was the best part of the car.....when I opened the door I was amazed that someone let this car get back into the rental rotation... surely some made a mistake...the interior has discoloration on the seats in both the front and back seats...the doors were literally falling off... Where the door rubber/plastic interior meets the window it was falling off ...I could look down the window and see inside the door...just sad that things are not fixed......and ohh by the way...$26/day for the car rental..$32/day for insurance...and that was the basic....just letting you know that at Advantage its only about discounts..dont expect anything pretty that you will be driving....UPDATE...ITS BEEN TWO DAYS SINCE I SENT EMAIL TO CUSTOMER SERVICE.....NO RESPONSE YET.....

I marked my experience as unpleasant and only 1 star because of multiple reasons:1) The reason I chose to try out Advantage was because I wanted to rent a Rav4 and that is what the website indicated. Upon receiving the car I was told Oahu does not even have any Rav4’s to rent or even any Toyota’s. This is very misleading advertising to include a model of vehicle that is not possible to rent.2) The vehicle I was given was a Kia. I expressed my displeasure and how I did not like Kia’s and the agent would not offer me any other vehicle.3) Upon inspection of the Kia I discovered it was a 3 year old car, worn tires (barely legal), and full of dents all over the place. One of the dents was actually a smash/scrape that went from the front bumper and down the right side of the vehicle all the way into the back door. This vehicle should not even be rented.4) Renting this vehicle caused me stress. I had to spend at least 15 minutes documenting all the vehicle damage from marking up the rental paper, taking many many photos, and a long detailed video. All to try a protect myself from the possibility of the rental company trying to blame me for the vehicle damage. Even now I still wonder if I will get a future message trying to blame me for that damage. Again, renting from Advantage only resulted in causing me unnecessary stress. I will definitely choose another company next time.5). There are other rental companies that will not charge extra to have a spouse also be allowed to drive the vehicle.

Worst car rental experience of my life.First, the line was insanely long and insanely slow. They had two people doing check ins, eventually 3, then 4. I waited 1.5 hours before I could even see someone. I timed it. It took 9 minutes per person, usually longer if there was an issue they needed to deal with.But on top of that, I was able to get an earlier flight then expected and was hoping to be able to pick up my rental a few hours early, as Ive done at other places. Having worked in the travel industry I know that car rentals are on 24 hours basis and I was well within the same timelines for my original reservation. Instead they wanted to cancel my original reservation and charge me an outrageous price for a new one. Ridiculous since I booked it a few days ahead and checked the rates for both times and it was the same with same vehicle availability.Unfortunately they already have my money, I after that whole waiting ordeal, I had to shell out 50$ for a taxi to hotel and go back to the airport later.

Advantage was very affordable, around $80 per day with their Halloween special. Vehicle was VERY CLEAN, despite having lots of sandy beaches. They do a great job cleaning and preparing the vehicles. The only thing I would recommend is applying Rain-X to your windshields, since it rains a lot near the mountainous regions, and improves the windshield wiping.Before you book, visit their website and register to get a discount code in their email. Alternatively, if you hang around their website for a while, a pop-up window will also show with some discount code. For auto insurance, I would recommend checking with your own insurance to add the rental vehicle protection, which is cheaper than the extra liability insurance.

The reviews about insane lines and only 2 sales reps are true. If you are on a short trip and want to maximize your time, I would not rent from Advantage again. If you have a more relaxed schedule and plan for the long wait, the savings are probably worth it.

I have mixed reviews. First car rented went well. Then when I returned to Oahu. I have been in line for 1:45, with more wait in front. What a joke! Sad that people in the service industry careless about the lines. Yes the computers went down for 5 minutes, but that was after an 1:15 minute wait. Cant wait to see what happens when I get to the front.Added. A customer complained courteously and the manager was extremely rude. Wow, after this rental, probably will never use again. I would rather pay more for decent service. Cant cancel, because I used pay now.

Overall experience was amazing, I was greeted by a friendly staff member, he provided an upgrade for our honeymoon at a great price! We enjoyed the car received but it unfortunately didn’t fit in the parking garage at our condo stay. So we had to take the car back to exchange it, the staff was more than understanding and kept everything the same for a better vehicle that would fit in the parking garage. Also the car was as clean as it could be considered you are renting a car from an island, where everyone main goal is to adventure to the beach and muddy areas. Don’t be discouraged by the photos posted.

This organization is interested in getting repeat customers. They ensured a better than average price and were as quick as possible to meet our requirements. Scott and Penny served over our 11 days allowing us to extend our car twice since we had originally planned to stay at a resort without a car. Worked out better extending and taking a few extra day trips. They had longer line ups to get your car but the empty lines at the side-by-side counters told you the story. Pricing more reasonable at Advantage and they gain by volume and turnover. I asked a National agent if they would match and the lady turned me right off saying you have to pay for superior service. I told her that she can keep her car for the price you charge and we dont mind paying ourselves for waiting. They had no one being served or in line. Others had a few people in line and Budget tried to match without success, so we stayed with Advantage. An excellent choice and will book again with them.

Booked the car and paid in full in advance through Hotwire. Arrived to find their counter overwhelmed with huge lineup, scrambling to serve bookings at least 2 hours behind. While other companies had reasonable volume and speed. Took 2 hours in lineup. Frustrating! If I hadnt paid would walk away.

Cheap. Upgraded to 4x4 for a reasonable price. Quick. Good counter service by lovely lady. Clean car. Quick assistance upon car return. Will use next time. Had originally booked through Ace Rentals, but when arrived more than 4 hours late, Ace let the car go to someone else and said they had no other car - terrible situation to be in with 3 young children. So booked with Advantage who provided a car immediately. Thanks guys.

Finally got to the desk after 2.5 hours and the girl said Theres always a line at advantage! Well I will never stand in it again. Car was fine, but not worth the few bucks we saved vs. Alamo or Thrifty.

Worst experience ever. Spent over 1 hour to get to the front counter for a rental car that I had an appointment for. Service was SO slow that people were clapping each time one person received their rental car keys. Will NEVER recommend to anyone and please if you’re traveling on the Government dime, make note that it’s SO much more costly to wait than the $3 difference for the next lowest cost rental car provider.Updated 7/25 at 9:11am:Read their response below 👇🏻sorry? Saw some mixed reviews but they had a good rate for a convertible, so I booked. Unfortunately the big suitcase wouldnt fit in the cars tiny boot/trunk, so I had to go back to the office and ask for something else. Ended up with a big Jeep which cost a bit more, but I was very happy with it. Smooth process both at the beginning (thanks Elloise) and the rental return (thanks Loise). Id use Advantage again

This place does not respect prepaid bookings. They will book more reservations than they have of cars, and will not care. At the time I arrived on a Saturday, there were 26 additional customers waiting ahead of me, and nobody else available to provide customer service. The person who checked me in told me to call the customer service number, which unfortunately was not working due to heavy call volume. Do NOT book, this place is a SCAM, the low prices are just a bait. Even after you wait in line to tell them you are here, the outside benches are filled with literally dozens of people waiting for their car to be brought down. Again, literally 26 people were ahead of me, despite my reservation that was prepaid.

Upon arrival after a 6 hour flight, the rental agent suggested that they could save me money with a lower $/gal if I chose the option where they fill up the car upon return. I was tired and the way he explained it and I understood it is that they would fill it up and charge me for what they put in the tank. Well, that is not what happened or what the fine print says! I brought the car back with maybe 20% of the gas burned and they charged me for a fill up as if the tank were empty. I called customer service and they say its in the contract I signed. I said I understand that but the agent never properly explained how this works. I would never have chosen that option because it would never save me money. The company refuses to refund back the portion of the fill that was unnecessary. I have no time to pursue this with them but want to warn future renters that this company is not entirely honest about the options they try to get you to purchase upon arrival at the rental desk. You know if they would simply refund the portion of the cost that is inappropriate, I wouldnt be writing this review.Frustrated!Nov 13, 2019 - reply to ownerThank-you for responding. These other reviews are funny to me. When you choose the least expensive (by far) car rental company at the Honolulu Airport, youre going to get an experience that reflects that- and thats not necessarily a bad experience, just different. I, thankfully, didnt have a situation where I had to alter my reservation, call a customer representative, or lose my keys so I cant speak to those circumstances, but to those saying that you wait forever because they only have two people working... uh hello- why do you think think the prices are less expensive? I guess its a question of whether you have the patience to wait for a car and rental service that will save you money. For me, it was and we had a good experience. Not only that, but we were able to use a discount code on Advantages Website that saved us an additional $130. The woman checking us in was kind and timely, not slow at all. The line did fill up quickly behind us but when I looked to the other agent, the only reason why it was taking so long was because the customer was altering her reservation, asking a million questions, etc., which would take anyone a while. I almost didnt rent from them because of the previous reviews but Im glad I did. You get a reliable, good condition car for a considerable amount less. Plus if you look online for discount codes, you get it for even less. Worth it to me. Thanks, Advantage!

The good - friendly people in customer service. I was surprised the folks at the desk were so willing to chat; there were like 75 people in line behind me. 75 people were visible anyway. I suspect more were around the corner.The bad - 2+ hour wait in line to pick up the car. People were lying on the ground, no kidding. And you know what made it hard? Looking at the other rental company desks, and seeing folks get in and out within minutes. That was tough to watch.Then I got my car. It was rough. Big scratches up and down both sides (someone had obviously keyed it), big dents, stained seats.Returning the car was pretty easy, and like I said, friendly folks, so can’t go one star here, as much as I want to.I kept looking for the “Advantage” suggested by the name, but never found it. We will use another company next time.

October 2018- Advantage Rent a Car is unethical, and charged me $120 more than they were supposed to. I was originally billed for $180, and got an extra driver for $53, and ended up getting a $350 bill!!I would highly recommend that you not use their services as there are plenty of other companies around the Honolulu airport. I have used Advantage Rent a Car in the past (granted, at other locations) and have always had great customer service, and have recommended it to family and friends in the past. However, that all ends today. There is absolutely no reason that I should have been overcharged- I returned the car on time, I did not damage the car whatsoever, I took great care of it, and I returned it with a full tank of gas. I still do not understand why I was charged $120 more. I even called their customer service number and spoke with a man named Stuart, who was nice but honestly not helpful at all; he could not even provide me a reason for the extra charge. I am still hoping that Advantage at least provides me a legitimate reason, but that still has not happened.AVOID ADVANTAGE RENT A CAR. I would say to avoid the Honolulu one specifically, but their overall image is damaged in my eyes and I wont use it anywhere. This poor customer service is unacceptable to me, and I would not believe their rating if it is above 1 star. I chose them because of past success with me, but they really disappointed me this time. Advantage, please dont scam your loyal customers!

Avoid at all costs. Agent at Honolulu Airport branch outright lied about what coverage and add-ons were necessary. Customer service took forever to respond to requests for information, and offered to do ZERO to remedy the situation. I recommend avoiding Advantage car rentals altogether!

Super long line on Saturday (6/22/19) afternoon at around 3pm. I didnt get to the counter until nearly 4pm, but each of the agents were very attentive with their customers and looked to be moving as efficiently as they could. But car rentals can be a wait. They offered bottles of water to us guests in line. Luisa was my specific agent and she was incredible. She embodied the aloha spirit and handled my reservation professionally. I like the rates that this company has and the service was really good today. It was easy to find the counter as it was across the street from the baggage claim terminal for American Airlines.

Overbooked..Appear to be less concerned with good customer experience than with their profits. The line was extremely long then they did not have the vehicle I had reserved 3 months prior. Representative asked me to wait to the side for 10 minutes, stating my vehicle was being washed. One hr. later the vehicle was ready. Total wait time: 90 minutes. Would give one star but the lot attendant was nice and efficient for the return.

I rented a full-size vehicle from Advantage and, overall, was pleased with the experience. The rates were much better than their competitors. The car was available as promised and the customer service was helpful, informative and polite. The line, however, was another story. We must have waited in line 30-40 minutes, which is unacceptable. They need to figure out a way to staff the counter more efficiently so that tired travelers can move on with the rest of their vacation. On the other hand, the return process was easy and straightforward. No hassles there.

Decent price, but youll need a lot of patience. Looks like a 2 hour wait with 3 agents and about 50 people in line...out the door.Update: a full 2 hour wait and they had a sign posted advising people that they would accept any reservations made in the past 10 hours. Many people took from 10 to 35 minutes to complete the process to get their keys. I actually ran a stop watch on random customers because it was unacceptably slow. The line continued to grow longer in the 2 hours that I waited, so others waited even longer, Im sure.

Check in was easy and agent friendly. Car was fine. All was good until the next day and I tried to extend my rental for a day (I only needed an extra 12 hours). The customer service person on the phone wasnt very friendly or helpful. They would extend my rental for $75. This is more than if I just didnt return it ($53). I returned the car, rented from another company for less than half the cost. I wont be renting from them again.

We were able to get our car reasonably quickly, and the car was fine. The rental rate was also reasonable. I made a dumb mistake and lost my keys. The charge of $500 seemed steep, but thats their right. It was a bit disappointing that we had to get to the airport to pick up the spare and back to our car on our own. Neither of these is why Im giving Advantage 1 star.The customer service experience of getting the key was very difficult. We received a lot of conflicting information from phone support and the local manager. Probably the most confusing disconnect was that phone support center asked us to get in touch with a local locksmith ourselves to have the key replaced directly. According to the call center, local branches didnt even have spare keys. The local manager told us that the fee was so steep because they had to replace the locks and all the keys. He also told us that for this reason, they wouldnt accept keys made by 3rd parties.If we had followed the call centers advice, wed have been out the $500 Advantage charged us as well as whatever the locksmith charged. Not that this was an option anyway; of the local locksmiths we called, none had the capability to make a key for such a new car. As far as I know, getting keys made quickly is a task for dealerships these days.It was also difficult to get in touch with the local branch over the phone. The call center support staff couldnt transfer us or give us their number, and the number is unlisted. It was unclear if the call center employee was able to speak directly with the branch themselves. We wound up having to call the airports information desk to contact them. The phone number was likely on our rental agreement, but we couldn’t access that without our keys.I dont believe that any of the individuals involved in this sequence of events did anything particularly egregious. The entire experience betrays a deeply flawed customer support system that I cant trust to help me. I’ll be choosing competitors in the future.Edit:I contacted customer support, as suggested in the reply. I received a response indicating that their management team has been informed of the situation. I followed up later, and received another response saying that the management team was still working on a resolution. Weeks later, I havent heard anything more. Predictable, I suppose

Part of the on site rental car center at the airport, thank goodness. Easy to find, and the cars were close by too. Car that I rented was clean, freshly washed and worked well. Instead of having someone in a booth check you out at the exit of the garage, you complete a self inspection form, drop it in their boxes, then leave with your car. Service at the counter was great, they let me know up front they were short on cars, and that I may have to wait (waited like 5 mins). The rental agent gave me some tips on places to visit while here.

Don’t get me wrong.. their rates are great and my rental was just what I needed.. BUT... It has been EIGHT DAYS since I returned my rental. Since returning my rental I have been contacting them about my credit card hold that has been held since. They will tell you “it’s your card company” but it really isn’t. Finally after messaging and messaging, they sent me a random email of my “final invoice” and dropped the $200 hold. Why even hold for that long when I’m sure the car I used was rented out at least 1-2 (maybe even more) times since? Try to charge me for something I didn’t do maybe.. Budget dropped my hold before I even walked off their lot. I wouldn’t recommend renting with this company.

Staff was as helpful as their experience let them be. The renting part was easy but when it came to the insurance, it was confusing and expensive. What a racket, the car rental would have been reasonable but the insurance is just way to expensive. After we paid we were pointed to the door and told to go left, push key alarm till you find your car. Then fill out these papers on how the condition of the car is at that moment and place them on the wall. When you come back, park in same spot. Now imagine coming off a 5hr flight, getting herded over there, and told all that in few minutes. Fast yes, but pay attention. Thats what they want so you dont look at the bill till its too late. Just not the experience you want to start off a vacation. The good, car ran fine, and it was easy to get back. Will take limo next time. It was that expensive.

Dont let the low price influence you. When you pick up your rental the dont have the car class you reservd but have others at a significant price increase. I refused the offer and had to wait for someone to return a car in my class. Multiple people had the same issues.

Had a really great experience with Advantage rental at the airport in Oahu. Free upgrade after the clerk saw the bags we had. His words, “It would be really tight to fit in the car you reserved, so I am going to upgrade you!” Great customer service. Had a wonderful conversation while he entered our info. The pick up and drop off was very simple. I was very pleased with this company. I would rent from them again.

Purchased a rental online, everything seemed easy, paid online. Was told that the Authorization fee was a deposit for the vehicle when I got to the kiosk. Paid the $200 thinking I was going to get my deposit back and didnt. I was taken advantage of by Advantage rentals in Honolulu. Ill always stick with enterprise after this.

The guy at the counter, David acted like he was helpful and told me I needed an upgrade to drive the road to Hana. He charged me an extra $50 to change my vehicle. This was an outright lie and I paid an extra $50+ for nothing. He is a fast talker and not as helpful like he appears. I called customer service and they were helpful and at least refunded half the upgrade price. At least that helped. I’m disappointed in that David guy. I like advantage just not that person.

I was issued a vehicle with a slow leak in the front right tire. At times it would get down to 13 PSI during my week of usage. I felt like I was constantly stopping to keep it inflated to a safe operating range. Im not a fan of vehicle malfunctions, especially while my family is in tow. What upset me most wasnt the daily filling routine, it was the fact that upon return, the attendant knew that vehicle had a tire issue. If it was a known issue, why did you disregard our safety by renting that SUV? I have rented from Advantage many times before, but this will unfortunately be my last.

Advantage had the best price by far of all of the airport pickup agencies. Rented the managers choice and got a Kia soul. A few people in line at pick up, but it didnt take long to get our car. Our rental car drove great and we had no problems with it.Great service at pick up and drop off.I would recommend advantage to others renting in Honolulu.

Waited in line almost 90 minutes to pick up a car I reserved months in advance. It seemed like they may have overbooked and were waiting on other cars to be turned back in. Absolutely ridiculous. DO NOT rent from this company. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. We noticed problems with our rental car within minutes as we were driving it off the lot. We were having issues starting the car and got a warning stating “Key ID incorrect”. A day later we got a low tire pressure warning. Then 6 days into our rental, our car would no longer start at all. We popped the hood and saw the negative terminal on the battery was completely corroded. They came out and had to replace our car, and because we declined roadside assistance we had to pay for this. While this place may be cheaper than some other options, you get what you pay for. Stick with a major national brand and avoid this company. Also, the customer service over the phone is awful and the lines at the counter are ridiculously long - expect to wait at least an hour to pickup your car.

Pick up was at the terminal. The car was fairly new and in great shape. Im not particularly loyal to any car rental company but like as good of a deal as possible. In this case Advantage was considerably cheaper than the competition. I would rent from Advantage again. I only put 4 stars because I dont think I could ever put 5 stars for a car rental company.

Terrible service. Heads up: Advantage says there is no guarantee your car will be there. Our flight from Phoenix was 2 hours late, so we arrived at the window at 6:38 p.m. but they had already given our car away at 6:30. We werent rude about it, but they were - they just tried to get us to pay more for a larger vehicle. They werent even sorry. Please do not patronize their business.

Huge line and the slowest agents Ive ever experienced. They were more concerned with pushing upgrades and insurance than customer care. Im assuming this is how they were trained. I dont need to be shamed for declining insurance. The vehicle was dirty inside and out. I felt the need to photograph the entire outside of the car in order to protect myself from any false claims of damage.

We booked through priceline. Due to pandemic, we were not able to travel to Oahu for our vacation. We requested a refund due to cancellation of our trip. They refused to offer refund. Priceline said they would not offer refund because it was due to discount rate. They charged us car rental for the entire week. I will never book with Advantage through Priceline again. I will never use Priceline again. Both were horrible when you have a problem.

I waited 45 minutes in line to get my vehicle, but there were a lot of people in line. I didnt mind the wait. The customer service rep was very cordial and I had my car within 5 minutes. The car was clean and it was a newer model Toyota Corolla, 2017 or newer with low miles for a very affordable price, no complaints here!

She was nice BUT we waited 1 1/2 hrs to pick up our car from our already reserved car. Line the longest with Advantage at the airport and down to one agent with 2 others not able to help. One was in the back, never came out to get the customers served and on their way. The other was locked out of her computer. VERY frustrating since it was a REALLY long flight to get her from a different time zone. Also, we ALREADY had a reservationCant they plan for workers to handle their scheduled rushes?!?

I lost my camera in a Jeep I rented and I’ve been reaching out to them constantly calling and leaving voicemails and nobody seems to reach out. All it says in the report is that they are searching for it but I distinctly told them where it’s at. AN I KNOW THAT THEY RENTED THAT JEEP ALREADY AND MY CAMERA IS GONE FOR GOOD BECAUSE NOBODY HAS THE DECENCY TO LOOK FOR IT. I can’t tell people how very frustrated I am with this company. An the fact that they do everything by voice and number system instead of an actual human is very upsetting. My whole trip was on that camera. If booked and paid for in advance, the price is great. Service is attentive and speedy. Overall the best the competition has to offer on the island.Popularity is becoming their downfall unless they employ more counter service agents at busy times. Waiting times are between 30 min and 1 hour. This is a downgrade from my previous experiences.

Do NOT rent from Advantage at the airport. I added 1 day of rental and my final bill came in $140 more than my initial quote (with all taxes and fees). Additionally, their own people cant explain every item on your bill. There are 3 different taxes just for picking up from the airport. They charge you for things they dont even understand. Never renting from Advantage again.

After flying for 10 hours to Honolulu, we get to the car rental to find out we have to wait online for two hours to get the car. There were only two agents at the counter. We canceled our reservation and was able to rent a car with Budget. Budget got us a great rate and service was quick.

Best place to rent a car from! Convenient, car rental is right across from the baggage claim so you don’t need a shuttle. Friendly and awesome people working for them! 5 years in row I have rented a car and it has been perfect. Renting from Advantage will save you time and trouble compared to other rentals.

We were fortunate to arrive when there was no line and we walked right up to the customer service agent. She was awesome! Because we picked up the car 10 min early there was going to ba an extra charge (we were told the charge is from the booking agency, not the car rental company). So she prepared the paperwork and timed things for us to activate our paperwork right at the schedule time to avoid the extra charge. She also told us not to bring the car back early as a way to avoid yet another extra charge. Very helpful, and the car we rented is great!

Price was decent, not great, but should have been better considering the condition of the vehicle I received. After an hour and a half wait in line to pickup the car I reserved online (no, this isnt an exaggeration) I was given a car with 40k miles that was dirty inside and out, had trouble locking and unlocking the doors because it was indicating the key fob battery was low and the front right tire kept losing air so I had to find air filling stations. The front and back windshields were so scummy I could not see out when the sun shined on it. Was somewhat concerned about the loud knocking sound when shifting into reverse too. Was just hoping I made it through the week with a breakdown. Not what you want to worry about on vacation. Overall, not a good experience at all.

Have been at this car rental for 30 minutes waiting in line. It is a Sunday, my husband, three kids and I landed an hour ago. Every other car rental company in the same building has at least 4 employees at the counters, Advantage has TWO!!! The line has hardly moved in the past 30 minutes. Are you kidding me? 2 employees working at counters. We won’t get to our hotel until the beach is closed at this rate. This is absolutely unacceptable. Advantage has lost our business here at the airport in Honolulu. We come here every spring and we’ll never put our family through this ridiculous line of 20+ customers serviced by 2 employees ever again!

Advantage always has reasonable to very good rates and my experience has always been excellent from the agents to the rental car I received. Also, on occasions when I have had to extend my rental, they have always honored my original rate without an upcharge. I can easily highly recommend them as my preferred car rental agency.

My overall experience was good. However, there was a little issue - I was charged a little bit more than what I had on my reservation. They told me that it was because of some fee changes from 2018 to 2019 (I reserved the car in 2018 for Feb 2019). Got a nice convertible as reserved.

The rental counter line was extremely long and I waited for approximately 45 minutes. Once I got to the counter there were no cars available which resulted in another 20 minute wait after I paid. Happy I received a free upgrade but the vehicles windows are covered with scum and it’s difficult to see out of them. Prices are cheap and service was good, just highly inefficient and low quality.

You get what you pay for. I would give 1/2 a star if I could. Long lines, over an hour wait both times I picked up and exchanged my car. First car had old windshield wipers and a bad tired that leaked air after I filled it twice. I came back to exchange the car, waited an hour and a half and all they had were minivans and gas guzzling Jeeps. I waited in line for over another hour for an available sedan. Will never ever book with them again.

But the gas pre-pay thing is scammy, youre paying in advance for an entire tank of gas, and who brings their rental car back dead empty?? It left me with bad impression honestly. This location has always been great for friendliness and great people! Im only taking a star off because the last two rentals Ive had, the vehicles were NOT cleaned well. Interiors both had sand on the carpet, and at least one empty bottle sitting in the car in visible spots. Not sure how these were missed in two different vehicles, but it does show a pattern of sloppiness in the cleaning process.That being said, I truly enjoy the interactions Ive had with the rental counter. Lori helped us the other day with our rental and she was a delight! Warm and friendly, but also professional and thorough. Ill be renting again from this location because of the people. This was worst rental car experience of my life . I rented a Jeep Wrangler and the agent (Eloise I think) said I would only get a two door for that option. If I want a 4 door I’ll have to pay extra 15$ each day.The two door Jeep was in a bad condition, the seat would take a lot of effort to move, car felt unclean and unhygienic to ride so I asked for another car. She said that was the only two door and they had no other option unless I paid.Wasted like two hours here, spoke to the manager who responded just like the agent.They tried to convince me that the vehicle is is great and that people take it with no complaints! I was ready to switch to any comparable vehicle at that point but the one I was offered .They finally gave in coz one of the costumer requested a 2 door and they made a switch.Oh if you have a rental booking for 12 and if you made it there early, they will make you WAIT! So I had to wait for an hour only to deal with this MESS.Do yourself a favor and get a different rental ! There were plenty of options .

Amazing price. Agent would explain in detail the convenience to buy extras and his explanations were absolutely neutral and honest. I never felt like trying to be ripped off. We were given a brand new car in amazingly pristine conditions. WE were given the choice to either rent the car with the full tank and refill it or buy the filling of the tank at the rental agency at a very competitive price for gallon.

So many things to say, in keeping it simple, pushy and would not listen. Dismissed concerns. Was not straight forward about pricing. Wouldn’t honor reserved price. Went online in front of him and reserved at a lower price which he had to honor. Pushy after saying no to the insurance over 5 times! Tried to scare you into purchasing it but my insurance covers all the things he was pressuring us to purchase. I had my agent on the phone as she was telling me all of it was covered. I am hard of hearing, yet he was getting visibly frustrated with me. I left in tears I was so mad. Since we were on vacation I didn’t unleash on him so that I could enjoy my starting day in Hawaii. But I do not recommend. Will pay extra to go somewhere else next time.

Car was exactly as expected; not new - it had significant dents and scratches, but it was quick easy to mark them and drop off the sign out sheet and I was not charged for any existing dents. The a/c worked extremely well and we had no problems with the car, and the price was great, so that was all good. The reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars was slow check-in; waiting in line for 40 minutes as it took ~10 min per person for people in front of us (why is a complete mystery as it only took me 1 minute to pick up my keys and go).

If you are going to modify your reservation! NEVER DO it over the phone.. I spoke with 4 different Reps.. Chris, Hillary, John and Gabby. My reservation price went from $160.19 to $756.00 and I wasn’t informed of the price changed nor did I agree to it.. then my reservation was cancelled without my consent and a new reservation was made for $560.00. Then I called back and spent 45 mins with this rep who had me believing that he fixed all the mistakes the previous reps created gave me my original rate of $42.55 a day rather than the $151.00 that they changed it to.. I call back a fourth time to confirm that my new rate of $181.43 is what they are showing because I haven’t received an email confirmation with the new confirmation number.. and this rep reassured me that I’m all good! And that’s the price she is showing.. now FINALLY I get to the the counter and Everything that I was told from the previous reps was all a lie.. and luckily I printed out my original reservation, with all the notes of times and the reps I spoke with.. and she was nice enough to honor my Original price.. so thank you to her! And be very weary with dealing with the phone reps because they will tell you exactly what you want to hear! I have never been so deceived by a rental car agency like I have this one!

Friendly, fast and efficient! The car we wanted in our rented category wasnt ready, and we were given an upgrade so we wouldnt have to wait. Sam, our agent, didnt try to pressure us into purchasing any add ons, and we were done in a matter of minutes. The car was easy to locate in their facility and the area was well lite for our safety. This was our first time renting with Advantage and well definitely be repeat customers. Rental prices are just about average as compared to other rental agencies, but certainly more reasonable than Hertz or Enterprise.

Took 90 minutes waiting in line at the rental counter. Check-in clerk was helpful and friendly, but said the line is always this long. I rented a “premium car” and got a base Toyota Camry. The car we got had large dents in both the front and rear bumper, and one of the quarter panels. The front bumper was partially detached on the right side. The interior was filthy... probably hasn’t been vacuumed in weeks. Won’t be renting from Advantage again!
