Great staff and maintenance team. Loved living here… for the most part. The complex is located right across from the railroad, and every night at 1:30-2:00am a train will go by and feel need the need to blow its whistle 6-7 times waking me up daily. Frustrating especially since there was nothing I could do about it.What was most frustrating was the pool. My room was charged extra for a beautiful pool side view that we never got to use once. Picked this apartment over many other b/c of the promised pool amenity. The pool was closed for this season and am extremely disappointed about that.Unreliable wifi. Would drop in the middle of exams and at night when it was needed the most. Complained to the staff once and was told that they could only restart the router. Extremely aggravating especially with this past year being online. Finally, this is not a quiet place. On multiple occasions residents would get into screaming matches in the halls. My roommate ex-boyfriend current girlfriend got into the building some how and banged on our door to wake us up. Another time a woman and her friend went down the hallway screaming and demanding that her boyfriend comes out or she would break his gaming system. The banged on everybody’s door on all the floors. At the end of the day most of my complaints are things the staff nor management could not control. A bot disappointed with my stay her and am glad i didn’t resign

Great staff especially Sarah and Carrie . Very kind and helpful. Maintenance is very kind and helpful. It is close to campus yes… but the cons outweigh the pros. There are roaches and spiders all the time. The pool is not open and I’m paying for an amenity I cant even use. They have had months to fix it but instead blame previous management. The fire alarm goes off ALL the time. The outside of the apartment is dirty, smells like dog poop and is embarrassing to bring family or friends. The AC breaks often- my friends apartment has had broken ac once a month and they are slow to listen to her complaints. Nor to mention that she has a bug infestation and they tried to make her pay $400 to fix THEIR problem.(I have the voicemail)I am excited to move out but I will miss the staff.

Good apartment for the most part besides the part that you don’t get to use all the amenities your promised. The pool was set to open a month ago yet it still has not opened. They keep saying they just need a final inspector to come but they have been saying that for weeks. So it probably won’t be opening this summer my guess.

If I could give this place a lower rating I will. On the outside of this apartment it looks good but on inside there is so much problems. When I first moved into my unit there was a dead roach in the kitchen. This place has a serious infection of them I found one almost everyday. The next issue I had with them is that they had a mold problem. I included pictures so that you can see it for yourself. The mold in this place ruin most of my clothes, items, and I felt like my health deteriorate because of it. The nextissue is that the trash shoot room is nasty. Some of the residents here just throws the trash on the ground instead of throwing it into the shoot. I felt like management just cleans it when people are about to move in which was like twice a year. If you think about studying for class or sleeping early in your apartment dont do it because some of your neighbors are rude and not courteous of other people who live there. They will be playing loud music, slamming things so hard that your apartment shakes, and be skateboarding in the halls. This happen frequently when I was there and at odd hours like between 12am - 2am. And it doesnt matter how much you complain to management about it. They tell you that they told them but the problems still continues. Some residents here be smoking in the staircase too and its not the legal kind of smoking. Also, it located right next to the railroad where the train pass every night honking its horn. There is so much problems with this place I cant even list them all: pet urine in the hall, being nickel and dime for many thing, the printer is always out of ink when you need it, and the fire alarm goes off randomly couple of times in a semester...So if you like to live in a chaotic apartment this place is for you but my recommendation to you is to avoid this place like the plague.

Outstanding, easily the best apartment Ive lived at since moving to Greenville. The staff are friendly and respond in a timely manner and Ive had ZERO issues with my unit. The icing on the cake for me is IF there would be an issue, it rarely takes longer than 24 hours to get to your work order handled and the maintenance crew constantly provides updates if there are complications. All in all a great place to live 10-10 would lease again.

We are pretty happy with First Street Place. This is our first year renting from them and we initially had some minor inconveniences with my daughters unit. They responded quickly, professionally, and I must say they could not have been more accommodating. Every issue, no matter how trivial, was addressed. The building is really quiet and away from the street noise which makes it quite peaceful. Ive lived here for about three years and have always loved it! Really great staff, everybody is super friendly and it has this home feel thats apparent as soon as you walk through the door! Price wise its one of the best deals on student living in Greenville. Its cheaper and more durable than other apartments and living on campus and has FREE PARKING.The apartments are very spacious and well designed (I love the furniture that comes with the apartment!) And the amenities are really nice (like the salt water pool and the grill!) They have lots of events very often that give A LOT of opportunity for free food (from places like Parkers, Wings Over, and Sonic) and they have really neat arts & crafts events almost weekly that are also functional things (Things Ive made myself include welcome mats, coffee mugs, magnets, air fresheners etc!)The bus is very convenient for getting to class if you go to ECU, and even if you decide to walk or bike, campus is not very far at all! And most important this area is VERY SAFE! Ive never felt threatened by anything other than the hurricanes weve been having, and even from high up in First Street it was the safest place in Greenville! Bonding moment for the residents that have stayed and not a scratch, even right along the flood line!Looking back, Im glad I chose to live here and would do it all again over every time! I have made some of the greatest friends in this apartment and have had a great time being a resident of First Street Place Apartments.

I haven’t even moved in my apartment yet and I have had the worst experience with this apartment complex. The staff is extremely rude and inconsiderate and you can never get in touch with the manager. It’s like management tells the staff to keep them out of the mix and far away from any issues. All the front desk workers have attitudes and makes it seem like an issue when you ask a questionI got an extra $25 added to my rent due to them putting me in a room with a pool view, balcony and on the top floor when I didn’t request any of that! When I asked to be move it was apparently impossible for them to do so (they just want money).Lastly, before I pay my first months rent I was told by the staff I could pay with a personal check or money order. Of course, when I bought the personal check weeks before move in, all of a sudden personal checks weren’t accepted. The staff gives me weird vibes and they are inconsiderate. It seems like all they care about is getting your money!! I should not regret signing here before I even move in

Reasons I will never recommend living at first street place:1) Stairwells and hallways constantly smell and are filled with animal urine and feces. I kid you not, I saw the same dog poop in the stairwell for 3 weeks before anyone picked it up.2) Maintenance is terrible and rude. Something not working right in your apartment? You might as well start googling how to fix it yourself unless you want to wait 4+ months before it gets fixed. My ice maker did not work, so first I tried to fix it myself so I didnt have to bother the staff. After checking the water line to make sure it was on and not tangled I could not figure it out. I put in multiple work orders over a few week span, apparently they showed up, but nothing ever was fixed. Finally one of the maintenance guys showed up just as I got home from work, I could finally see with my own eyes something was being done. I tried to explain to him that I tried to figure out what was wrong and that Im sorry Ive had to keep putting in orders for it. You know what his response was? Yeah well I dont have four hours to sit here and watch it make ice. Nothing tops off a nice 8 1/2 hour work day like getting sarcastic back lip from your apartments maintenance guy over something that should have been fixed 4 months ago. I called him out on his attitude and let him know I didnt appreciate it. The ice maker was eventually fixed by a 3rd party moving company who delivered a new fridge 5 months after I moved in.3) Condition of the apartment after move-in was mediocre at best. The worst part is these people will nickel and dime you for everything they can when its time to move out. Ended up owing $50 (which i paid off), but when my family and I tried to speak with the manager in charge of billing on the phone, he miraculously was always unavailable. We were told we could email him instead. Translation: hes in his office but doesnt feel like dealing with an angry resident/parent at the moment. To sum things up, Ive lived at 3 different apartment complexes throughout my college career at East Carolina University. First street place was the worst experience of the lot. If you dont believe me, give it a shot and see for yourself; that will just be an expensive mistake. Have a nice day :)

I’ve lived in a few off campus student housing apartments that were awful, and this was honestly the best one I’ve encountered. It has its issues, but the front desk was as accommodating as they could be. I had a major issue with a roommate and they were able to solve the problem in a professional manner. I requested a studio apartment, which was very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen has lots of space to cook meals. The living room and bed area was a little cramped, but it wasn’t too difficult to deal with. The apartment is clean and while I did have to kill a few roaches here and there, it wasn’t infested.Cons: Parking is at the bottom of a hill. Getting groceries into the apartment was problematic. The spots in the parking lot are thin and people have trouble staying between the lines. You have to get parking passes for your visitors which is a little irritating, and if you don’t they WILL tow your friend’s vehicle. The back door always seems to break which means you have to walk around the building to get into the front door. That can get annoying. The elevator near the office also breaks a good bit. The a/c had issues in both apartments I lived in, and broke quite a lot. Noise was an issue with my neighbor. Communicating with the office about the loud music didn’t seem to be a deterrent. It’s not really their fault, but know it might be noisy. The biggest pro is that the employees and management are very nice and professional, and will try to assist you with your problems. I’d live here again if I had to.

Do not live at First Street Place. There were roaches dead and never cleaned up in the hallways. When I called to let them know that there were roaches in my apartment they asked how many I saw as if that would determine whether or not I would be able to get some sort of solution. The smell of pet fecal matter and urine in the stairways was incredibly frustrating to deal with on a daily basis not to mention the tenants who did not clean up after their animals had accidents were numerous. The mailroom never had a working lock and the mailboxes we were assigned could easily be broken into. The trash chute closets were abysmal and on several occasions I brought the overflow of bags to the dumpsters myself. Absolutely NOT a tenants job! Over break they contacted us letting us know they would be getting new FOB keys and that we were to pick them up at a certain time and place. Tenants who were not available at that time were told they would have to wait for regular office hours to get into the apartment or call the emergency number and someone would eventually pick up. What put me over the edge was twice when I was in the shower maintenance keyed into my apartment unannounced! One would think upon hearing the shower they might leave or at least announce themselves. If you are a single woman that will be living here I suggested shoving your desk chair under the door handle so that you are not surprised by any unwelcome visitors. When I complained to the front desk they did absolutely nothing to assuage my fears. Of course now having moved out they charged me $90.00 for trash removal and cleaning. Part of which they were charging me for a rip in the couch and white paint on the couch which was already on my original move-in form. After a dispute they did lower it to $25.00. I have chosen to pay other than to argue with them and write this review. Their original paperwork for my statement never had any apartment number listed or the appropriate reason for moving out and the new statement does not have my correct forwarding address. I would urge you as someone who owns a property herself First Street Place does not care about its tenants or the property. What a shame because it is a great location.

I have lived at First Street going on 4 years now and have loved my time here . Any Issues I have experienced have nothing to do with the staff or building itself but with noise from neighbors. Whenever I have an issue, the staff has been quick to handle it for me and are very friendly. Maintenance fixes any issues usually within the day which is much more than I could ask for. I usually walk to class because it is only 1 mile away, but the bus runs every 30 minutes if it is a rainy day. The building has indoor halls and after 7pm is locked to the public. Just moved my daughter into First Street Place this weekend. Looks nice on the outside, but wait for the inside. We both were afraid to fall asleep because the roaches kept coming into her apartment. The more we killed them, the more we had to kill. She was so excited about moving here; talked about it all summer. That excitement has completely gone away. It was a horrible experience. My suggestion, have the management fumigate the apartment before you move in. She told the management office yesterday, their response was, it will be next week. Who wants to live in a roach infested apartment for a week? I can cry...horrible!!!

1. The staff are extremely rude. I hate walking near the front desk. The staff act like it is a problem to answer any of your questions. One of my last days at the apartment I went to get a parking pass and instead of the girl at the front desk saying “how can I help you” she looked at me and didn’t say a word which then led me to say “can I get a parking pass” and she looked back at her computer swung the book around at me and didn’t say a word. She filled out the pass without speaking and then handed it to me, not making eye contact. I said thank you and she never even acknowledged it. This is only one of many incidents I have had with staff. The only person who is a pleasure to speak to and continued to speak when walking in the front lobby was Travis.2. The problems upon move in- my roommates carpet was soaked from some kind of leak that maintenance “could not figure out”. We had to live with huge fans constantly blowing for a weekend. Trying to get in touch with management about it was close to impossible, it was almost like they did not want to have to deal with the issue.3. Why have a trash shoot if it’s rarely emptied for residents to use? On top of not being able to use the trash shoot, the room where it is located is disgusting.4. The parking sucks. We had an issue with parking while my parents were here because the apartment complex decided to cut down a handicapped sign but did not paint over the handicapped drawing on the ground. There were handicapped spots right beside it and also they cut the sign down for the only van accessible handicapped spot. This resulted in my parents car getting towed. Their reasoning for cutting the sign down was that they oversold the premium parking in the top lot. Now the sign has been put back up after this incident.5. Upon move in there were stains on the chairs, paint on the floors, paint on the couches, paint on the desks and none of the vents were cleaned. A clean apartment upon move in is expected and I was utterly disappointed with how dirty it was.6. There is a cockroach problem. I am a very clean person and never leave food out but I am still getting cockroaches. I had my apartment sprayed multiple times and it never seemed to help.7. Staff is supposed to clean every night but I do not believe that the stairwells are being cleaned. They smell strongly of urine and animal feces. All around the premises there is feces. I do not have a dog and do not think I should have to see/smell other residents dogs urination/feces.8. We pay $5 extra for a “pool view” and I cannot even see the pool from my apartment. This was not something I got to choose. They just tack that onto your rent.9. The fact that we had to pay $50 for an internet/cable fee but were never told about it upon signing the lease. It was slapped on the first months rent.10. I submitted a service request for a leak in my kitchen sink and maintenance said they came in and fixed it but it never stopped leaking. It ruined all my bags, dishwasher tablets and a whole pack of paper towels. I submitted another service request for them to fix it and over a week later they they came and “fixed” it. But once again my sink is leaking so a 3rd service request was submitted. Finally they came by to fix it and while I was at my apartment to witness them being there it actually got fixed.Overall this apartment is poorly run and no one should have to experience the things my roommate and I have. I have lived at other apartment complexes and I had none of these issues. The whole stay could have been better if staff was pleasant.

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!! READ BELOW::::::If I could give this place -200 points, I would. I can say I have lived in a lot of places. But this was by far the absolute worst!!!! To begin, the staff in this establishment are RUDE! They dont care about their clients who pay THEM. They seem to only care about sitting on Facebook at the front desk. When you come in. No one greets you, you have to speak up for assistance. There is one girl who works there who draws on her eyebrows. She is the worst of the worst. I dont know what so terrible happened in her life where she hates everyone walking. But she honestly hates everything walking. She rolls her eyes, speaks with an attitude and ignores questions asked to her. She is a bitter Betty and needs to be FIRED!Now to the apartment and the property. This place sits right adjacent to a creepy old cemetery, and a dirty littered pond. They charge you extra for any view out your window which is either of the two mentioned above. Either the nasty pond. Or the haunted cemetery. No one wants to see that! But they charge you 50$+ on rent because its outside the window. Its actually such a scam. This place is DIRTY and NASTY!!!! To start. You walk in any entrance and poop from dogs and cats and who knows what else is smeared into the ground or walkway. Its disgusting. The halls smell like PetCo.But the worst of all of it, is the ROACHES!! I can not make this up. Me and my mom moved into my apartment there on Friday at 7pm. We were GONE by Friday at 9pm. The roaches ran us away. I read reviews about the roach infestation. And I shouldve believed it. This place is a ROACH MOTEL! They own the place. And we are the visitors. I was in my NEW apartment for 2 hours and saw 5 roaches. This is absolutely disgusting!!!! I was so sick I left half of my stuff there because roaches were crawling on it.This place is a rip off!!! Please dont waste your time here. I did because I was new and had no other options and it came around and bit me in the butt! This was the worst place Ive ever experienced. And I feel so sorry for all the people who are stuck in their leases there.

Ive lived here fore 2 years now and have decided to move out. In general the staff are friendly and responsive. Apartment quality seems to vary depending on who lived in it before you. My biggest complaint is cockroaches. No matter what strategy I tried to get rid of them I would still find them within a month. Even with having a clean apartment I still had a problem. These things are huge and are finding ways through air vents, windows, and doorways. If you cant handle finding about 3-5 cockroaches a month, I dont recommend living here.

Parking is a huge issue. You MUST have a temporary parking pass to park here, and parents, its mostly college kids running this place, so if you come for a visit, be prepared to walk a block or two, because the people that live in the building that work here will Not walk downstairs after hours to help with a parking pass and are simply rude. The day of move in, they were towing people left and right, and no leniency for move-ins, they didnt care. If you parked near the building just to unload, you were towed. To park in the small upper lot is an additional $500. And you have to have a parking sticker, or again you are towed. Find another apartment complex that is managed better.

Great place for students. Other than bugs and a dirty pool everything weights out and ends up being a plus.

They had my car towed from here, I probably wouldnt have left it there without a sticker but they had a small sign 3k feet from where cars actually park, with no lighting, and too small to read unless youre out of your car looking for a number to call cause your car is missing (me)

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!! First of all its completely over priced. When I first signed to first street place I assumed that I was moving into a nicer apartment since I was paying 200 dollars more than my old apartment complex. NOT TRUE!!! I have dealt with an abundant amount of leaks coming from the ceiling. So bad that I actually payed $300 to move units, and the same issue happened at my new unit. The office members come off as caddy, and know it alls. If you have an issue, they never contact maintenance in timely manner, and give you snappy responses. The maintenance guys are really friendly, but they are not well trained to fix most of the problems in the units (and never clean up after themselves). My AC/heating breaks at least once a month, and the office response is it just happens, and theres nothing they can do about it. I can never put in a maintenance request and have it fixed in one request, I always have to call the office for multiple days for the same problem!!! They closed down the pool for the last two months of summer, and ended up just blaming the residents about it. The hallways always smell like animal feces and are infested with bugs, but again they just blame the residents, instead of cleaning it up themselves. Trash chutes are always full, so theres no reason to even use them at all. IF YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOU DO NOT LIVE HERE. Go to other student living facilities, where its half the price and the staff is better, maintenance is faster, and the units arent completely falling apart! I payed $400 a month for living at The Davis and honestly regret leaving there and coming here where I pay so much more and its absolutely the worst!!!

It is currently 3am and its storming, but all I can hear are the heavy footed nocturnal elephants above me. I can hear them turn their lights on, open cabinets, walking, talking, dropping things, breaking things, and vacuuming. I am woken up constantly to the people above me making noises or doors closing in the hall. Maybe it isnt their fault, maybe the floors here are so thin that when Irma comes the people above me will fall through and watch Netflix with me on my bed. They tell you to report the noise before 12am but I doubt it will ever end. Also there is a pool here, however, it still has not been inspected so therefore you cannot use it. Which sucks even more if you have to pay $5 extra a month for poolside view for the only apartment available. To add to this list theres also random bugs like baby roaches, spiders, and some weird bugs I did not know exist. Finally the door leading to the inside of my hall constantly breaks somehow. Which means anyone can walk in.P.s dont bring your parents because it forever smells like weed outside.

What I love about FSP is the fact that it is a community, not just a place to live. As with all communities, there are certain things that your neighbors may do that frustrate you: some do not pick up after their animals, some do not dispose of their trash properly, which leads to this pest issue that alot of people seem to be mentioning. All of the reviews I have read are often a result of people not doing what the property asks them to do: be respectful, clean up after yourself. The staff has ALWAYS been helpful and do their best to address all concerns in a timely, efficient manner. If everyone did their part, this complex would be one of the best in Greenville! My main point is that before you blame the staff, remember they live here too and experience just as much frustration when things arent taken care of properly. This is my third year, and I still love the community despite some people not doing what they should to keep this place as beautiful as it could be.

I subleased a studio apartment for 3 months here. My first issue was that the girl I subleased from was paying the first of three months rent as incentive to sublease. I also was moving in during the middle of the first month. She paid the first months rent like we agreed. However, they made me pay the full month with the agreement of pro-rating it (the over payment would go towards next months rent), refunded her the full months rent she paid for me as well as the prorated amount, and made her write me a check. Fine. Very confusing and not efficient, but I get it. Next, I brought my therapy dog and pet cat. I paid the pet deposit and rent for the cat on my initial rent check. It was clearly stated on the for line of the cashier check. On move in day which was a Sunday, I filled out the pet form for my cat. I had already completed the dog one. The following month, my rent was cheaper, but I assumed because I was reinbursed for overpaying the 1st month, the pro-rated amount, right? At the time I dropped my rent check off, they said it was because I over paid the first month not because it was pro-rated. Figured out it was because my cats paper was misplaced, and they cant charge deposits or rent for therapy animals. Whatever. I filled out the cat sheet AGAIN, and they said all was well because I had already paid the deposit. A few weeks later I get a call (while Im on vacation) that I owe 300 immediately and pet rent for my unauthorized cat. I was extremely frustrated and a bit short on the phone. The rep kept saying I wasnt paying extra since my rent was cheaper that month since Id overpaid my first months rent. Yes, the amount is the same at the end of the day, but when you havent worked because youre out of state on vacation, work=pay, getting a call from out of the blue to pay 325 immediately is infuriating in the least. Mostly because I HAD paid it, they messed up, and now I owe an unexpected few hundred dollars. My next issue came with moving out. I had heard and read reviews about them nickle and diming you, but Im a clean, responsible, PROFESSIONAL adult. Not a college kid. I know how to clean an apartment. Even so, I got charged $45 move out fee for cleaning the bathtub and trash removal. Trash removal fine, I forgot my laundry detergent and dryer sheets on top of the machine. Its a bit much to say it costs 20 bucks to remove it, but okay. But the tub? I scoured that thing with a toothbrush and cleaner! The ceramic was already stained beyond cleaning. Not disgustingly stained, a little disclored. It was definitely cleaner than when I moved in. When I called to pay, I asked about it. The money wasnt alot, but its the principle that I cleaned on my hands and knees that stupid apartment and still got pegged a fee. The rep asked if I put it on the move-in form. No, I didnt because I assumed move-in forms were for damages already existing, like cracked walls/scratched chairs/broken window lock. I didnt realize a slightly discolored ceramic bathtub was considered damaged. I wonder if they even cleaned the tub? I bet they just pass out fees and hope the next tenant does the same thing I did, so they can charge them too. For a place that smells like urine (always), weed (often), and has an abundance of roaches, you have high expectations of your move-out tenants.Pros: super nice maintenance guy.

After a year of on time payments my son moves out. Several months later there is a $50 charge on my credit report. We never received any notifications and when we went to settle we were redirected to their collection agency. Their methods of business are the worse that we have ever dealt with. Avoid dealing with First Street
