Love the instructors. This gym has good equipment and a great variety. Do miss the spin classes.
This gym is very unprofessional! I reported harassment from a member and they completely ignored it. I recorded people on a private account following me around and they called me on a private number to terminate my membership because of those videos. There was no way they could have found my account unless they were cyber stalking me. They dont require mask so its clear they do not care about the safety of their members. This was a disgusting place to workout.
I joined Strive because I am feeling blah.I broke my hip last year and am having a bit of self pity.. Rob showed me exercises and machines to help with my balance and core issues..I enjoy this gym, someone is always there to help and/ or answer questions.
The best fitness facility and trainers ! Love all the small group coaches. Lexie and Tremell are my go to favs. All staff is super friendly and helpful. Always clean and updated equipment.
I would have to say this is the best gym in Guilford I’ve been to quite a few others and nothing compares to Strive! Staff is friendly, the people are friendly as well, equipment is always clean and well maintained. They also give massages with your membership. (Check to make sure due to covid restrictions etc) sauna is part of amenities as well as CrossFit! So if you are nervous about going to the gym due to certain things (weight, looks etc) go to strive where you will feel welcomed because we are all after something that made us all go to the gym.
Strive is frankly the best gym I have had a membership with. The facilities/equipment are well maintained and accommodate a wide range of needs. But more importantly, the staff are dedicated and invested in their clients success. They go the extra mile to help you meet your goals and needs and help you succeed. Rob and his group really make you feel like they care about you as a person and not just a revenue source. Every time I go in I end up talking with trainers and members many of whom I consider personal friends. The gym really has a sense of community, no matter your fitness or membership level. I cant wait for Covid to end and get back to seeing my Strive Family on a regular basis again!
Great gym. They dont really enforce masks, so if that bothers you, might want to look elsewhere.
Very very bad costumer service I have been there for 2 years never been treated good ever specifically from the one his name Michael always gives very bad look and very bad attitude for no reason never help or answer you at all seems like he doesnt like to be there..........Respond to the owner how am I in and out for three months like you said and no one stopped me and how do I know that my membership is expired until someone will let me know even when he pulled me to talk about it . it was bad way to talk to costumer absolutely non professional person and am talking about the way they talked to me about it they almost kicked me out the gym and I was willing to resigned up for 5 years thats not the way your people treat costumer even when the membership is expired thats bad gym and bad costumer service ever.....and to answer your questions I will never ever take away the car from my costumer because I know they have struggled with money and they have kids and work and life they need the car with them to continue life see thats what am saying costumer service its not in your list guys costumer comes first to staying in business
4 weeks into my 6 week challenge and Im starting to feel like myself again after 2 kiddos in 2 years. The trainers are amazing! Personal strength classes are great to slow things down and build some muscle. Burn, Sprint, and Grind bootcamp style classes are great to speed things up and get that HIIT work in. Be prepared to sweat! The environment is positive, inviting, and clean. Youll go from walking in nervously to your first class to feeling like youre part of the family in no time. One of my favorite parts is they meet everyone where they are and avoid injury with deep stretching every class before and after and have several different modifications available for every excercise.
Wonderful place to workout! Friendly staff. Clean environment. Highly recommend!
Best place in town to workout. Get equipment, great people. Very accommodating and friendly!! Juice bar ROCKS. Great shakes. Everything you need. Dressing rooms are CLEAN!!
Great facility and equipment. Always clean gym and courteous staff.
Great gym and great personal trainers!! Jamie Christmas is excellent!!
Stop harassing ladies in your gym
They debit your account when you’ve already canceled the membership. Then they debit your account for supposedly a maintenance fee when the gym is not even open. Send three emails finally credit your account the membership but not the maintenance fee numerous phone calls never can get in touch with management and the person who answers the phone if they do answer the phone is in adequate to even answer the phone. The way This Gym has gone over the past two years you’re better off if you’re going somewhere else buyer beware.
Great gym and facilities that offers good value for money. They are doing their best to navigate the challenging times and are offering members remote options with online workouts and are open for those who need the facilities.
Strive is an amazing place with such great people. Ive been a member for more than three years and I recommend it to anyone who wants to work out and get fit. The staff is always interested in my goals, they always encourage me to work hard and always have ideas to get more out of my workout. Ive just started personal strength training and its awesome; I could really turn into a gym rat at Strive.
Ive been interested in joining a gym and one of my friends recommended Strive. Ive needed to get a work out plan started for some time now and thought this would be a great opportunity for me since I live so close. I walked in the door and the first gentlemen greeted me and was with another customer so he directed me to another gentlemen across from him to assist me.I walked over to speak with him and started asking about the group exercise classes and told him I was interested in BodyPump because I had attended it before and saw some great results. He told me that they didnt offer any Body Pump classes anymore and that would have been fine but as I started asking about other opportunities and work out classes he never gave me no direct eye contact nor did he offer much explanation as to what the other classes were like. I kept trying to ask more questions but he was more concerned with making a protein shake than assisting a potentially new customer.I also wanted a tour of the facilities and I was told by the same gentlemen that I could walk around and look at the gym myself and look at a white board for the classes they offer. Now, HOW AM I supposed to know what Im looking at! So I walked around the facility feeling like I was blown over and not thought about at all. So disappointed in STRIVE. I might have wanted to join another class but since I was given no direction as to what I was looking at or what to sign up for, I just left feeling disappointed. So I guess Ill join somewhere else that actually wants to invest in their customers and gives a hoot about potential memberships rather than blending protein shakes.
We recently decided to axe Planet Fitness, as our goals didn’t seem to align with the “moderate effort” theme they have going on. We researched, compared, and toured a few other local gyms (Golds, Prohlific) and settled on Strive. Our first visit and tour was amazing, Dorothy was warm and welcoming. We joined, and have been there about a month. Here’s an honest review of this past month. There are loads of options, styles, areas, and tools available for any kind of goal. The boxing equipment is a plus, just bring your own wraps or gloves. The community ones are pretty icky. The turf area is great. The male trainers are friendly, knowledgeable, and seem to motivate well, although we haven’t done any of the classes. The younger female trainer seems significantly less friendly, but still seems to know what she’s doing. The equipment is all well maintained and functional, however a little dingy. I don’t notice much cleaning going on. It’s definitely a gym for people who want to get their money’s worth, which we enjoy. Being around people who are pushing themselves is a motivator. There do seem to be some definite judgmental cliques going on with some regular members, but if you’re just showing up to work out and leave, it’s easy to ignore. Overall we’re happy with our decision, and would recommend Strive to those looking for a “real” gym with plenty of fitness journey options.
One of the best places to work out at. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. We love the workout classes and daycare workers. Will definitely continue to go here!
The only reason we stopped going here is that we moved. Nice place and affordable. Good child care as well.
I have been a member of Strive for over a year now and have found it to be the place to go. Being over 50 I was scared to go into the gym again after years of excuses and health issues. Making the decision to go to Strive has literally changed my life. Rob set up a training plan for me on the day I joined and after following it, I have exceeded my goals. Reading the 2 negative reviews on here really pissed me off and motivated me to open up about the true Strive.First of all, you DO NOT have to have a top membership to be successful at Strive. Their trainers are top and their group classes are very inviting and scheduled to be available almost anytime you need them. The group classes are geared towards any walk of life. From someone who is trying to get fit to someone who is very fit. Everyone feels comfortable in the classes and along with being really well planned for every fitness level, they are fun.Equipment is plentiful and well maintained. Of course, you can get someone in the gym who has no idea of gym etiquette who may interfere with your workout, but it is rare. Help is available at all times and is given with friendly enthusiasm.I would highly recommend Strive to anyone, of any age, at any fitness level. You will be glad you joined.
I joined Strive a few months ago after attending another gym for a few years and seeing no results. The facility is great but the guidance and support I received was amazing. I never had anyone talk me through how I should workout to get the results I want. They spent an entire hour talking through my training and nutrition strategy, looked at how I moved so they could give me the right exercises. They have a training app that they created my workouts on and tracks my nutrition. After a few months, I began doing their small group training. Afterburn, Punch and Cycle. I am seeing great results (lost 35 pounds, 8% body fat) and I feel great. I did my first real push up and am working on my first pull up. Give Strive a try, I can’t recommend them highly enough.
I signed up for the 7 day trial and I was so pleased with the gym that I started my membership today! So far, I am extremely pleased! I love how the members are from all stages of the fitness journey and the staff/trainers are so positive and motivational. AND the people at the front desk greet members by their name. How cool is that?!
The staff is phenomenal ! & always willing to help. Its a very friendly & supportive gym
They have a terrific training staff whove helped me to getter better at my Rugged Maniac and Spartan races. I feel like I continue to improve every month. The equipment is in great shape and the gym is always clean.
Great equipment.Strive treats those who dont purchase personal training packages as second class citizens. Changes rules after 2 years on a dime, usually personally based. Only towards members who dont buy bells and whistles. No floor supervision/assistance of/for clients. You cant get a spot, or if youre doing something risky, no feedback. Have seen preventable accidents occur.Manager will lie to your face, is insincere and only motivated by $.But puts on a great act. Should run for congress.Like a politician hell only kiss a baby if a camera is rolling.Asst. Manager is selectivity abusive and ignorant. But if you buy the personal training packages they will stroke you.... Hey, youre awesome!,then bad mouth you behind your back.Theres a huge lack of sincerity, honesty.Often classes are too big and personal trainers cant give clients the attention they deserve.Manger will manipulate/exploit children with programs for kids to gain good, local PR. Yet only serve the wealthy who can afford it. And the trainers are instructed to put up with any dangerous nonsense... as long as its base on cash revenue. As a former PE teacher and personal trainer Ive seen counter productive, and dangerous activity reinforced in these sessions so as not to jeopardize and additional income. This is not in the best interest of young people.Strives moral compass points towards the dollar sign.Great equipment.Mostly great, underpaid, overwhelmed trainers.Management is insincere and at times engages in bullying... to members who dont but the training packages.I was at this gym for over 8 years, with 2 previous owners... I experienced none of these issues.
A very inclusive and professional gym. The trainers are very well educated and each have their own style but you can tell they care about where they work and each member. Great facility.
I joined at Strive about 8 months ago and would definitely recommend this fitness facility. The trainers/instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. I appreciate the diversity in age and fitness levels, everyone makes you feel welcome.
It is a very nice and clean gym with plenty of quality gym equipment. I enjoy my exercise experience at this gym. Staff is very helpful and friendly too.
Nice place to work out. Free space and Clint to! Plaes trader.
Love this place! Great staff, clean gym, lots of equipment and options for memberships. Definitely recommend over the larger more crowded gyms!
Best gym in the triad. Great place for serious fitness people
They’ve been closed for months but are still charging me the full subscription because they email out workout suggestions.
My family and I have been going to Strive for over a year now and have loved it! Although we live on the other side of Greensboro now and pass about 2-3 Gold’s and Planet Fitnesses - Strive is worth the drive. After our son was born, we struggled to find a workout routine that allowed one parent to stay home with our little one and workout between odd work days. Thankfully - our son has enjoyed going to Strive as much as we do! The Kidzone is great, love the Kidzone associates, and love how they make his time at the gym just as enjoyable! I struggled with mom-guilt but Strives’ Kidzone helped change all that!!! This place is a godsend for parents with little ones and who also need to focus on their health/fitness! Highly recommend!
Best gym I have ever been to hands down. I came to strive originally looking for a gym that would help give me some direction in meeting a new fitness goal i set. I initially went to golds seeking some personal training and the option to do crossfit style workouts. I was very put off by their pricing and the guy assured me that strive was the same. I had never even heard of it so i googled it and the prices were listed. They were a fraction of what golds charges. So went over to check it out. I was greeted warmly and immediately got to meet the owner and told him what I was looking for. He explained the gym and what was offered and it seemed to fit perfectly with what I was after. I signed up for a month trial with some personal training to see if I could fit it in my overly booked student schedule. I have never loved a gym more. I saw results (actual visible results) in just 1 month. I had no muscle tone, poor balance, and no coordination due to prolonged dieting. The trainers are friendly, they listen, they push you hard (but safe), and the workouts are fun. The facility is clean, the locker rooms are nice, and the equipment is well maintained. I have NOTHING negative to say about this place. Sadly it did not fit in my upcoming fall schedule (unless I decided to workout at 5 am every day), but I fully plan to be back after this semester. I cannot say enough positive things about it. Just go and check it out!!!
Without a doubt the best gym in town, a great family feel.
Great staff, a friendly, and clean place to workout. Everyone there ias easy to work with and they really seem to care about their members. Im glad I joined.
The Gym has good Trainers and the instruments are also well maintained!
The staff is amazing !! The equipment is a little cluttered but in great order.
I think strive is one of the best gy.s in Greensboro...
Great place to work out and meet new friends who are trying to live a healthy lifestyle
Great clean place to workout. Great equipment. Very friendly staff. Never crowded.
Great place to workout with high end equipment, lots of different classes and a knowledgeable staff.
Staff is friendly, affordable memberships, clean facility, saunas are my favorite and plenty of machines. Keep up the good work.
Dedicated group,of trainers who are super professional whether in group, semi private or private training sessions.
Great gym; clean environment, lots of equipment, friendly staff and constant improvements/additions.
Great staff, clean environment and never packed. I came over from golds and it was a great decision.
They really try to keep mixing it up and get new equipment in frequently. One of the few gyms in town that supports power lifting/ strength training with squat racks and deadlifting platforms. They also have a nice area for stretching or HIIT and their trainers are very nice. You wont find a lunk alarm here!
Great people, great staff, and clean enviroment. I came over from golds and love it.
I thank Rob for his comment in reference to my review. However I need to be clear that, although what he said sounds good and reasonable, that is not the whole story.I was told by two new members of the gym that Rob told them they were 20 years too young to participate in the Gentle Fitness class (in my opinion Robs least favorite class). He said not to bother with that class. They were not told the class would not fit into their training matrix. The new members were old enough to make their own decision. Gentle Fitness is a good class for all-around good physical health and physical/mental well-being. The class focuses on cardio health, strength training and balance. The participant can ramp the class up as much as they want, follow the instructors directions or participate at a less strenuous level to fit their needs. The class meets three times a week and each class focuses on a different area of the body and different ways of exercising using all kinds of equipment including weights, bands, balls, ropes, BOSU balance trainers, sand bags, sliders, plates, bars, etc. The participant can sit on a chair or balance ball, stand or be on the floor. It is never boring. The class has always had great instructors but the current instructor (Courtney) is exceptional. She works very hard to change up each section of the class. Not only does that prevent the class from becoming boring, it is better for the body. As I said in my first review, she is the reason I am trying to stay at Strive. If you decide to join Strive, make your own decision about how you want to exercise. If classes are your thing, try them out! If classes arent your thing, great! Youll fit in at Strive!----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Up until the last month or so, I have been happy with Strive. I have been a member in that building for almost 7 years (this is the third gym that has occupied the space in 7 years). When Rob bought it I was pleased because he seemed to be upgrading and maintaining the equipment and facility better than before. However, in his 2nd year of ownership, it became clear he did not like or support group exercise (Les Mills, free-style classes, etc). This was evidenced by his telling new members not to take part in group exercise. In the last month and a half, with no advanced warning to classes, he has taken the group exercise room and completely transformed it into GSO Cross Fit. The Group Exercise class members eventually heard that the cross training equipment would occupy 1/2 of the room but now that it is finished, it takes up the entire room. Not only is the flooring not conducive to group classes, he has made sure cross training was scheduled over some group exercise classes that have been meeting for 8+ years. If you are interested in group exercise, JOIN ANOTHER GYM! If you are an adult in the 30+ year old range, JOIN ANOTHER GYM! Rob doesnt want you there. The Google reviews come from the 30- year old range (so take them with a grain of salt). The only reason I stay is that I have wonderful instructors for the classes available now. Otherwise I would be gone. Come to think of it, the instructors I love teach at other gyms! Maybe its time to leave and take others with me!I gave this gym 1 star because it wouldnt take my post without it. In reality, I would not give it any part of a star.
Great people. Have something for every type of gym goer.
I joined Strive on Sept 1st, after nearly 30 years of various gym memberships. Through my 20s and 30s I went through cycles of powerlifting and bodybuilding, never focused on mobility or flexibility, so as I got into my 40s my body began to break down, back, neck and shoulder issues and about 50 pounds of weight gain followed. My efforts to maintain fitness over the past decade have been futile. I had spent the past year doing crossfit, but I found my lack of mobility, flexibility and cardio endurance set me up for failure and more injury. I met Dr. John Davidson (amazing PT Dr. and he introduced me to Rob and Strive. Strive is truly a unique gym, part globo gym, part personal training gym, with the functional fitness focus of crossfit. For less that a typical crossfit membership you get specialized semi private trading sessions by Rob and his team of trainers who do more than run you through a program, they get to know you as a person, get to understand you, your specific goals and help you get real results. It has been 6 weeks, and while its not been easy, I have seen more results, physically and emotionally than I have in the past 10 years of trying on my own. I am down 1 pant size, I am developing healthy lifestyle driven eating habits, and I enjoy getting up each morning and working out. I drive 20 minutes from Oak Ridge to get there.I cant recommend Strive enough. Rob and his staff are the real deal, you wont find a better gym experience anywhere at any cost!
Work out 5 days a week
Great staff, plenty of excellent machines, tmills, etc. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great place to work out
Awesome facility Awesome staff
Where???
Was looking for flexible membership options in a new gym since I travel for work. I got what I was looking for. Called, made an appointment to meet, got the two cent tour and signed up all in less than 15 mins. I love when things are straight forward and easy. Thank for making my gym search effortless. 👍🏻
