We love carmax always nice and clean everyone is willing to help from the sales reps. To the service station they are there with a smile on there face and ready to jump in and help when ever needed. Especially JP in the sales reps always there to answer our questions and offer advice. Thank you JP for always going the extra mile to make sure we got exactly what we needed for a happy family of 5 and our boxer! You were awesome to work with and the next time we are in the market for another vehicle you will be our go to guy thanks again! Eddie from the service the department has been amazing too, always helpful and willing to answer any questions we have. Eddie also took into consideration not once but twice that we have 2 daughters in school and made sure both times that we had a loaner to drive while our ford flex was being worked on. Staff helped me get out of a lease early and with the current car market make some money off the deal. The staff here are the opposite of any car dealership youve been to. They are not pushy at all. Love the fact that cars are unlocked so you can get to sit in lots of different models and discover what you like and dont like without feeling like your bothering a salesperson to get the keys to each car. Also sold a mustang to this CarMax a few years back and the experience was nice then as well! Highly recommend CarMax Greensboro!
Overall wasnt bad. The car sales rep was super efficient and did his job in ensuring my visit to pick up the car went well. The telephone sales rep was also helpful. This car purchase was much better than my first experience where I had a vehicle delivered. That ordeal almost made me not want to do business. But all faired well and now Im a proud owner of 2 reliable cars from CarMax
Buying my car was a good experience. The salesman was very patient and helpful. However, my overall experience was a little less than satisfying. I found the car I wanted out of state and was told the shipping fee must be paid right away (they were in a hurry to get my money), but when it came to shipping my car there was absolutely no hurry! The gentleman that took my order swears he told me it would be 2 weeks to get the car here, but I never heard any such thing. When I started inquiring about my car they then told me how long it would take and by then I had paid the shipping fee and had to wait even though I was in real need of a car right away. So if you are going to have a car shipped be sure of the details.
My experience was quick and easy with no pressure to purchase. The salesman was knowledgeable and if her didn’t know the answer he immediately it sought out from someone who did. The business team was awesome too! I couldn’t have asked for a better team to help me.

The sales representative James rakes was awesome went out of his way to make sure I was happy with my purchase, in Greensboro! But the Greensboro service center sucks! They push you away and don’t top off your fluids, or do anything for you. The car I traded in should’ve never been sold to me from Fayetteville location in NC falsifying the inspection to sell me a car!!! Altogether I’m happy but my new trade in but it is missing a hinge for the rear view back up camera and I wasn’t told it was missing until after purchase and I checked myself and drove it home so now I have to go back up there and make a appointment and be turned away until next week!
The actual buying experience was great. Getting the car registered has been entirely too much of a hassle for the $399 they charge for the service. For that price the service should involve plates shipped to my door not a diy kit that can only be used in a county I don’t live in.
Arrived on Thursday September 22nd to try to purchase a burgundy 2019 Corvette. The gentleman at the front kiosk added my name to the wait list. Waited two hours for a sales associate to help. To this day, no one from Carmax has attempted to call me. Weird. I ended up going down to Terry Labonte Chevy instead. Found a nicely priced 2017 Vette. I assume Carmax is suffering from massive labor shortage like the rest of us…

The buying and return experience was 5 stars... however I returned the 2020 Toyota Camry LE today after 3 weeks and 1000 miles because I discovered while detailing the interior that it was a FLOOD VEHICLE. I read the reviews before I go most places. I read the reviews online for CarMax and I was convinced the reviews were skewed in their favor bc of all the positive reviews and very little bad reviews. But, after my experience, I see why there were so many good reviews. The process was easy, stress free and very quick, I was in and out in about an hour. Emma was great, very nice and professional. I got my offer online and I expected to get the run around but they offered me exactly what they quoted me online. 10/10 experience.
Our recent purchase at this location was awesome. Stacey Williams was awesome throughout our process. We eventually found a car that needed to be shipped to Greensboro and he kept us well informed with the status. After our test drive, this was the vehicle that met all of our needs. Stacey was patient (I am not always the best customer) and understanding----he made the deal happen. CarMax is doing a wonderful job with the social distancing----they have made it a very safe and enjoyable experience. This is our second CarMax purchase and I really recommend this. CarMax takes the stress out of buying a car----their fees are quite reasonable compared to other dealers who try to use the no hassle approach (others as much as $900).

My CarMax experience was an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!! The entire team at the Greensboro Carmax has been completely unprofessional and unorganized to the point where it has eaten into my personal time and life. I have multiple hits on my credit because of their lack of organization. I had to drive 6 hours round-trip because of a mistake THEY made and did not receive a single apology for my time. They messed up on my financial application causing me to have to do a return/repurchase; obviously did not repurchase because I will NOT BE DEALING WITH CARMAX EVER AGAIN and I will advise you to do the same to save you your time and the hits on your credit report.
It was the easiest and quickest car selling experience ever! This is how it should be. Fill out the requested info online, print out the quote, go to the CarMax location, and within an hour, walk out with a check! So easy! Would recommend to anyone selling a car.

Bought a car back in April, had talked to someone about returning it. It turned out to be not what we wanted and because no one made note of it after they told us we could and we weren’t able to make it back in the 30 day window they wouldn’t let us. We haven’t had anything but problems, the oil plug was striped and the oil was not changed. The front bumper has fallen off and we’ve had to fix it along with the skid plates coming off while driving. The check engine light comes off and on. We also aren’t able to have it registered because the paperwork is all wrong. Will never buy or do business with any carmax ever again. Also will not be recommending anyone we know there either. Awful customer service too, they’ve been rude to us on the phone.

At first the person that answered the phone at car max I could hardly understand. The man could hardly speak English. So I hung up and then called back. Sounded like he just gave the phone to his girl friend, who could also speak very rough English. So after several minutes of try n to understand her I just hung-up and tried else where. However, I didnt give up on car max several weeks later I did more looking on line thru car max inventory and found the car of my Dreams in Winston Salem. They shipped it to Greensboro for free and the rest is history. The moral of the story is stick to your guns when buy n a car even when the times look bad, be patient, persevere and dont give up .
I have nothing but positive things to say about CarMax in Greensboro. The selection of cars was great, it was easy to come in and test drive the car of my choosing. I did get pre-qualified online for financing options so I believe that definitely sped up my process. To buy my car I was in and out within an hour and my sales associates Don & Heather were absolutely amazing! Everyone was so friendly and they were very transparent with me. I am so happy I came to CarMax and if I purchase another vehicle I will go through them again!
Since when do car lots refuse tests drives to 2 women that clearly have car insurance. This place made them feel like thieves... They will never get any of my business. And Ill be sure to spread the word wherever possible. They need to redo their policy if thats the problem.
My credit is very damaged due to my divorce, I had no transportation and was using Uber or renting as I could to be able go to work. My Husband and I had 2 different salesmen. If I were to buy another car, I would not hesitate buying from our SECOND salesman. We almost didnt purchase a car because of the FIRST man. He was very unpersonable, didnt listen to what we needed/wanted. Did not explain caremax care and filled out down payment and wrong option for the Caremax. The SECOND man we got was COMPLETELY PERFECT. He basicly started from scratch with us. He listened to our wants and needs. Walked us thru the process and now we are driving a new car because of him.
This is the third vehicle we have bought from CarMax and the third best experience we have ever had, buying a vehicle. CarMax went out of their way to make sure we were happy with our purchase. I would highly recommend using CarMax to anyone for buying and selling a vehicle.

I can sum up my experience in one word EXCELLENT! This is the second car I have purchased from CarMax and have had an excellent experience both times.
Purchased a car on July 5th. I liked it. Noticed that one of the tires was at 37psi and the others were 42 when I left, but didnt think anything of it. 10 days later. I traveled round trip about 60 and stopped to get gas near my home. Fill it up. Hop back in the car. Press the button. HVE SYSTEM FAILURE. Huh? It is a hybrid. So I try to start it a few times. Nothing just the HVE SYSTEM FAILURE. After about 10 minutes it does start, but the check engine light is on. I call CarMax customer advocates the next day. Lets bring it in and transfers me to the place that I purchased the car. It is a Friday. We dont have an opening until Wednesday can you bring it in then? I guess if you have early drop-off, but it is my only transportation do you have a loaner (when they were selling me the extended warranty they mentioned the loaners). Yes, but can you come in at 4 pm. No. My work wont allow it. Ohhh.., we close at 6. But the lot stays open later. Yes. Could you leave it for me? No. So..., I have purchased a car from you. The check engine light has come on within 10 days after your thorough inspection process and you cant accommodate me at all? The service department is open M-F 8:30-6. Ok, but I have to miss work to get a loaner? Yes. So I go out on Saturday to check the car and there is low air pressure warning on. The right rear wheel is down to 28 psi. It has a slow leak. And CarMax? They could care less. Bring it in to us. Then I dont have a car. Within 12 days the car has a check engine light and a slow leaking tire and CarMax has done absolutely nothing to work with me. Nothing. Let me say that again. Nothing. This will absolutely be the last time I will purchase anything from CarMax. Awful service. Awful commitment to make things right. And awful willingness to work with consumers.

I wanted the vehicle when I first saw it but I was thinking I cant afford this. But I ended up walking off the lot with what I really wanted. It was my birthday so that made it even more special.

They sold me a car with a broken latch. I had to go through so much just to get oil in my car. Make sure you double check everything. Also, if you’re trying to make an appointment DONT DO IT ONLINE. They never confirm with the actual place. A headache all around...

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible customer service. Sent us to the lot to look for ourselves. We were never helped as we looked at vans the entire time we were on the lot. Realizing we couldnt just walk off the lot to get back in our truck we had to walk back inside. At that point we beelined for the exit and the staff looked confused like we were going to actually stop. No thanks. If you wanted my money you wouldve tried to help us on the lot when we had questions. We took our money elsewhere.

I purchased a car last week. As part of the process Daryl Simons promised me a refund of the $99 transfer fee I paid to have the vehicle transferred from Myrtle Beach to Greensboro. Well here we are 5 days later and no refund. Doesnt look like they ever planned on honoring their commitment. This small item has really turned me against Carmax. Well I decided to call Daryl and he got involved and it was handled immediately. Im changing my rating to a 4 overall, but Daryl gets a 5+++

It was nice not being hounded by hungry salesmen as soon as I excited my own car. I do miss vehicles being unlocked but understand COVID has required some changes. Plenty of selection and reasonably priced.

As for buying the car, it is very streamlined and efficient. A very pleasant experience. I was however let down when they said nothing had ever happened to the car. That it was clean. The car has been obviously painted and not by professionals. There is orange peel texture and runs in the paint. Ultimately this is on me for not looking it over closely before buying but I am let down that this wasn’t caught by the Carmax people. If this car has never been wrecked then why was it painted??

It was the worst experience I have ever had with Carmax!!! This was the 6th and probably final car I will ever buy from you. I have told everyone about it and my neighbor who is familiar with the situation is telling doing the same at the sports bar she owns. 3 weeks to buy a car, disrespected by your employees (smiled in my face when I was told other customers took priority) YES,. It will be the last $30,000 I spend there! If anyone really is interested in what all happened, then you may call me ***-***-**** as there is not enough character space to type it all.
I came here to help my parents sell their car. The front desk guy could not be any less helpful. Told me that they did not want to appraise the car and I should do it online. Then the car battery died and everyone in this entire facility which sells CARS could not even help me jump the car. Came up with various excuses saying they dont have the proper equipment and they were at lunch. Like they expect me to believe a place that takes care of hundreds of cars doesnt have a way to jump start a car....

We requested a transfer from Pineville, NC on 3/22 and the vehicle came in with hood damage (in the paint), lots of scuffs and scratches on the rear and front of the vehicle. Carmax offered to replace the hood but we passed on that vehicle and requested another transfer on 3/25 from Winston-Salem. That car supposedly arrived in Greensboro on 3/26 and we were scheduled for a test drive on Wed. 3/31. Our salesperson called and cancelled that test drive due to something about the Title. I called this morning (4/3) and a salesperson told me the car is in Service but the Service Manager is not available and that he will call me when he is available. (Wonder when that will be?) Im frustrated and angry with the lack of communication from CarMax. Its Saturday and the last we heard from them was on Wednesday. Is the title straight now? Is there something wrong with the vehicle? Ive always bragged about CarMax and how easy the car buying process is but now Ill have to rethink that. Weve bought two vehicles from CarMax in the past but Im about ready to completely walk away after being tangled up in this mess for almost two weeks. This is just not acceptable.
I saved up 5600 dollars BY myself not to mention I’am full time student. I brought my very first car from Carmax and not even a month my car broke down and when I went back to Carmax they appraised me car for literally 500 DOLLARS, I don’t recommend buying anything from Carmax ever in life cause they will steal your money and not even try to fix the car that they told me had no problem, no recalls their whole franchise is BS
