I signed up for a membership here before the Standale location opened. While it did take them longer than expected to fully open, now that its fully open I dont have any real complaints. I did sign a 3 year contract, but it was not unknowingly. I do not understand all of the reviews Ive seen that state they were tricked into signing a 3 year contract or signed it unknowingly. How do you not know what youre signing? Read the contract, people. The annual maintenance fee of $44 seems silly, BUT its not something that isnt written into the contract and that I wasnt told about. I am also very aware that if I want to cancel within my 3 years, it will be hard to get out of. But thats what a contract is. And if you want fitness to be part of your lifestyle, paying $25 a month for unlimited access to gyms all around Grand Rapids for 3 years is a decent deal. Ive been going for a year and a half now and I dont intend to quit in the next year and a half.My ONLY concern is that when my 3 years are up, Im not sure if they will try to auto-renew my membership or make me pay a fee to not renew it. I have seen dozens of reviews of people having a hard time breaking their contract before it expires, but I havent seen many people talk about what the process is like for them once their contract is fully up.

This place is trash. They keep charging my card for a membership that is no longer active and they are not even open to get the money back they keep taking it during this covid. Terrible place dont ever sign up here just get your own equipment or go to another gym this place is sketchy and just taking money.

Excellent place. I would definitely recommend this to anyone not your typical gym hulk Haven but u feel comfortable when u work out and not intimidated. I love this place and my favorite is Ms Heidi she is fantastic. Please if you looking for a gym come here!!!

Not bad overall. For the price better than Planet Fitness but how do they not get Fox Sports in there? Im probably canceling because I cant watch the games while I workout because I got during those times because of work. I know there has to be other gyms that have it.

A few months into my membership and I really enjoy it. Great group of members, everyone seems to be really friendly. Its always clean and organized. Has everything youd need for weight lifting and cardio. The manager, Shawn, has been able to get me and many of my friends a membership at a GREAT price.

I signed up back in January and didnt go for a while but when I finally got in I ended up getting a personal trainer Lilly and she is amazing! She keeps me motivated and pushes me without pushing me to far. She works with my schedule and my strength level and doesnt give up on me. They have an amazing payment schedule so I dont even need to worry about it and if I need to change a date they work with me which is amazing. They are such an amazing team and I love it. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone who is looking for a great team who works with you!

Tried the 7-Day pass but then couldnt get through the door so was very frustrated with how to utilize the free.

Family Fitness took awhile to get up and started but it is finally here and I love the fact that I can come anytime 24/7 days a week. The place is very clean and the workers are so nice and caring. My husband and I were so excited that a Family Fitness came to Standale. We needed a gym so bad. We have sent so many of our friends and family there and no complaints from anyone. Keep up the great job!!!!

I joined before they officially opened because of the location so near my home and wanted to start a journey to fitness. My personal trainer Ty has helped me accomplish things physically that I never dreamed I could do. With his help and encouragement I have lost inches and body fat percentage and gained strength and flexibility. They offer a great variety of classes and all the trainers are friendly and encouraging. I have never felt intimidated going there and that is what kept me away from gyms for so many years. Can I give them 6 stars instead of just 5?

I was looking for a way to get back into going back to the gym when I moved to Apple Ridge Apartments. The staff were wonderful and the process to start a membership with them was easy and informative! I love how close I am to the place! I feel comfortable and dont feel judged when I go in. I absolutely appreciate the womens zone in the back with the circuit training near the locker room! Another plus is that they are 24/7 and that works great with my 2nd shift job. All of the classes are included with membership which is another great way to get back into a work out regime!I would recommend getting a membership here! The cost of my monthly bill with Family Fitness for two people is less than some folks get for one membership other places! A great deal, wonderful staff, great workout options and they even have a tanning bed what more could you ask for?

I have never committed to a gym membership so of course I was nervous to do so but Lilly the person who helped me was so friendly. She made sure I got the plan that worked for me.She wasnt pushy at all. She simply showed me their options and allowed me to choose a membership that worked best for me. Visiting other gyms there was always these backhanded compliments as if that would motivate me to work out. Its not that way here. I feel safe and comfortable to walk in and do my thing. Its also close to home, open 24 hours, and I have several friends who go there now too!

Mercedes, Britney and deJuan are awesome. They always greet me and make me feel welcome! I love that I can come in at any time and its close to home! Grace keeps this location super clean. I really recommend this gym!

I love the place, the instructors and the people that work there are great. I so far have enjoyed all the classes I took. I even made a lot of new friends 5 stars for Standale.My favorite instructors are first Crystal and second Heidi. There classes are fun, and they teach you a lot.

We have been going to FF in Standale since February. We (my husband and I) have had three trainers - Rachel, who left to continue her education in Iowa; Lily, whos class schedule this fall did not accomodate our schedule; and now Zak. Everyone of them has been great. What is important to me is their emphasis on correct form and knowledge of anatomy. No use doing the work if you are doing it wrong. Everyone is friendly and always helpful.

The gym is great! The best part is the 24/7 access. There is nothing better than finishing a workout before other local gyms even open. The staff is also great. All of the employees are very helpful and friendly.

I love this place super friendly people, clean sanitary work out equipment. If your looking to get in shape come to this gym!! You wont regret it!!! PS I have to say every one here is my favorite. I cant list a favorite trainer or staff member their all awesome!!!

I go super early so almost no one is there, which I like a lot. Decent selection. Wish they had a rowing machine and more kettle bells though.

I really enjoy going to the Standale Family Fitness Center. The staff are great, all the people Ive met there are great. Great trainers like Ty that really take their time to assure you are doing the best you can, and correctly.

I love coming to this gym, the gym has equipment to fit the needs of myself (a strength athlete) as well as my wife who loves coming to the yoga classes. The staff is high energy and creates a fun and motivating environment, the manager Kylee keeps the gym running flawlessly. I definitely recommend Family Fitness gyms to everyone.

Heads up, all the 5 star reviews get a member entered into drawings to win a television. Make sure you see information in writing before you sign anything, as there are hidden fees. Staff is friendly but make sure what they say is in writing. Place is clean, and has a lot of quality equipment. This location does not have childcare.

I love the 24-7 access for members, the friendly staff (especially Dani who always has a smile on her face!), and the womens weight zone. The machines are easy to use and the atmosphere is generally happy and helpful.

Do not....I repeat DO NOT pay for a membership with a credit card at this establishment!! Ive been a non active member for quite sometime and attempts are still being made to charge my credit card that they have on file!!! Thankfully this credit card # no longer exists but scary to think if it were what kind of unexpected charges could have been made to my account!! 😳😡 They baited my daughter in with a drawing she won at a hockey game.....she and I fell for it and they realed us in hook line and sinker....our bad 🤦....I just wanted to share so no one else has this happen to them 👍

Smaller than other locations, but convenient if you live close and want to get a quick workout. Clean facility with friendly staff. Not usually crowded.

Standale location . The gym its self is fine, but if the classes are what you want forget it. The schedule changes constantly and with no regard for attendance. Extremely poorly managed.

This gym is right around the average marker. I was told I’d have VIP Guest Access with my membership, and is one of the sole reasons I signed a contract at this location. 4 months into my membership, they strip me of that privilege, and I get to pay the same full price I was paying. The only perks I have now are access to other Fam. Fitnesses and the fact that it’s a 24 hour gym (not impressive). One of the least cleanlier gyms I’ve been at, and the equipment is not prime whatsoever. I got charged a random $88 for an ‘Enhancement Fee’ that no one ever addressed with me when signing up. This is now my 5th month here, and I’ve been paying on average $53 a month for a lower-end, not highly maintained gym.I’d go elsewhere if at all possible.Staff is at least friendly, but don’t go out of their way to save you any money for real.Being a college student, it really hurts when you get hit with these random fees/have your $5 perks taken from you, and no discount ensured with the removal.Best,Tyler Purcell

Family fitness of standale is a friendly clean facility and its always open 24/7. Ive been a member since they opened and have been satisfied ever since. Kylie was one of the first employees there from the beginning and shes always happy to help!

Ive been a member for a few months now, and Family Fitness has been very welcoming! Theyre very hospitable, the equipment is clean, and with them being open 24 hours it accommodates to my third shift work schedule great!

POSITIVE: I absolutely loved this gym. Having Ty as a personal trainer was great! I learned so much from him!NEGATIVE: I moved to Texas and since I did not have a permanent address to provide them with, they would not cancel my contract using the moving fee which was $75.. INSTEAD they made me pay them $300 to cancel my personal trainer contract..even though I showed them proof of my TWO new jobs in Texas, with my temporary address. I think it is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous that they would not accept these as proof. VERY UPSET.

Mercedes was a great help! There are unlimited guest passes and they are open 24 hours which is perfect! Seriously a great gym and staff.

Ive been with Family Fitness Standale since they opened and I LOVE it!! I am meeting my fitness goals thanks to my personal trainer Lilly and Insanity instructor Travis! Not to mention Ive made new friends who have similar goals and interests to mine.

Been with family fitness for a couple months now and Mercedes is by far my favorite employee! If you go there make sure you ask for her! This gym has everything I need.

I have had 24 operations but the trainers have been very patient with me and I am in better shape than I have been in at least 20 years. I may need to do the exercises a different way but we are able to figure it out .I have had four different people at different times helping me and they are all very competent.

I signed up here last month and found out they are closing this location, I asked them for my money for the rest of my pre pay back and they said that they couldnt do that because they are merging everything to their 4 mile location... That is completely out of my way and such a inconvenience.

Good but not great, just two bench press and squat equipment so be ready to be waiting in line

Well known as a scam company. Do some googling before giving them any of your information. Known for sending people who were on month to month contracts to collections months or years after the month to month contract is cancelled.

My girlfriend has been a part of this gym since September of 2015 and is wanting to cancel because of the cost (she pays for a personal trainer which is $100 a month on top of the normal $28 membership fee). In order to cancel (which is poorly translated in the contract) you have to submit a letter of cancellation to corporate 30 days in advance of payment (for such a small company this is pointless in my opinion) and in my girlfriends case, she has to pay a cancellation fee of $550 just for the personal trainer!! I personally find this ridiculous especially since the contract doesnt clearly indicate such an enormous charge. Family fitness has been known to have trouble before according to the Better Business Bureau. I find Family fitnesss business tactics and prices disgusting especially since its just a local gym. If I could give this organization a 0 out of 5, I would.

Well, Ive read other poor reviews and am having the same issues. No one should give money to this company. They seem to want to harass me for $35 when I cancelled and they never responded AND have received far more of my $ then they EVER should have. The gym opened way after promised date. Nothing was complete there for weeks if not months. Equipment is garbage. Ill be going to BBB.

The capacity is maxed out in the evening, the rules regarding abuse of equipment, chalk, swearing and music are constantly not enforced... Im leaving.
