This is a story about when I met the kindest and bravest people Ive ever met. It was truly the best nail experience I have ever had and beyond.Today Im driving home from work and get this feeling that I should get my nails done. Im someone who has compulsively bitten her nails (really badly) for all her life. Its embarrassing and makes me feel less sure of myself. So I tell my car to map to the closest nail salon which happened to be Excel Nails and Spa.Now, my experience getting my nails done has always been pretty painful. My nails are ugly and often times people show that they think so too on their faces and often get frustrated that they have to put the nail tips on before they can do the real work. On top of that, its always physically painful because they have to sand down my nails pretty deeply typically. When I came in, they actually said they could help me, I would just have to wait a bit, which I was just grateful theyd take me at all. So while Im waiting, Im mentally preparing myself for the shame Ill feel when they see my nails and silently telling myself I can get through how bad it will physically hurt. It wont take too long.Then, Michael tells me hes ready. Im already trying to explain that my nails are short and awful because I bite them and something about his expression just quiets me. He holds my hands gently and says My daughter does this too so I paint her nails.Wow.So we sit down to get started and he takes my hands and gently and caringly goes to work on them. He is so careful, I never felt any pain at all. And the whole time hes talking gently to me. Telling me things like I need to take care of myself and that when my nails are beautiful Ill feel so confident.Once hes done, Marys ready to do the dip part for my nails. Failure to Launch was playing on the TV, we didnt talk very much but shed laugh and parts and talk about the movie and then it gets to the end where Matthew McConaughey falls off the boat. Its supposed to be a cute scene but she says Thats not romantic to me. I laughed at first, thinking it was a funny thing to say but then she told me a story that Im not going to share b/c I dont know if shed want me to but it broke my heart and gave me chills and makes me never ever want to go on a boat ever again.Afterwards, there were normal words you say at the end of an appointment but all said by them with real sincerity. I thanked them and went home to tell my family about my experience and I actually cried talking about it. I will never forget this experience and I will never go to any other nail salon.TLDR: While getting my nails done, deep emotional wounds were tended to and I learned about true bravery and kindness. This story doesnt sound real even when I read it back but it literally just happened.

Had such an amazing experience here that had to post after only one visit! There was such a great selection of colors that I couldn’t choose so we went with a mix. Such a great environment and a wonderful family owned practice! I will be back and can’t wait 😊

I walked in and was told to pick a color. He immediately sat me in a chair for my pedicure and told me he needed to finish up with another client and would be right with me. He was sweet, fixed my toe nail shape and even had to fix an ingrown nail on my big toe but I never even felt it! So gentle and kind. The entire experience was amazing!

Great service warm and friendly owners/operators. Mary does a great job on my nails. I’m very picky and had been going to the same place in Austin for 13 years. I was tired of making the drive and my tech was getting a bit lazy. Excel was highly recommended so I gave them a shot. So happy I did!! Mary gets my nails nice and thin with beautiful designs. Michael does the pedicures and is amazing!! I have trouble with ingrown toenails, Michael always gets them with the most care and the least amount of pain. I was also having trouble with very dry calluses on my big toe and heals. Michael recommended Sole Solution by Nuskin that works amazing in keeping your pedicure in tiptop shape in between visits. I also get my face waxed and Mary does a beautiful job on my eyebrows!! I highly recommend visiting this salon!!

Have gone to Mary for 5 years for nails and eyebrow waxing. I have never disappointed. Mary is always pleasant, on time and gives great advice on nail color. Now that their daughter works part time she gives great color advice also.Michael gives an awesome Natural Pedicure. Your legs and feet feel great for several days following the process. Worth every penny.All in all it is a great friendly comfortable place to go relax and come out looking great and feeling better.

Had been going here over a year and was very happy with setvice... then pedicurist cut me 3 visits IN A ROW! Suddenly seems to be in a hurry -- my pedicures went from 45-50 minutes down to 30....

Always satisfied Mary always does a good job on my nails and is so gentle she doesnt rush like most nail techs.

They are amazing! I did solar on my nails and almost 2.5 weeks later theyre still on and look just as great as when I first got them done.
