Great local barber. Switched locations recently and seems nicer. Barbers are great and the environment is friendly. Brian gives great cuts shout-out Brian.

Don’t know what’s up with the reviews but the guys here seem very friendly and I just got one of the better haircuts I’ve ever had. If you are a guy and looking for a fade this is probably the best place to come to in Frederick.

These folks DO NOT have a set price. I got simple hair-cut earlier today and they charged 35$. Which is PATHETIC!!! Moving forward this location is a big no go.

I got cut by the owner or manager (Ry) and he did a horrible job on my head. This happened today. The beard was fine, but everything else and every detail I asked for him to do he botched.I asked him to be careful of my hairline - He took it back further and worse than anyone in yearsI asked for thin sideburns- He gave me short chunky nubsI still tipped, since I cannot make him put my hair back, but this haircut has made my day a sadder day.

Great establishment and they give great cuts. For all of the reviews that I read here that are clearly written in protest of a barber shop that is minority owned I will gladly pay a little more to keep it in business. While I was sitting waiting for my sons haircut a Caucasian couple came in and sat down for a haircut and they were greeted with smiles just like they should have been. Maybe some of the people that have written previous reviews can learn something from the employees at this shop. I will be back. Thanks for a great cut and supporting our community. Even with the flags painted on the ceiling you can see that this shop does not cater to any one race. It is about serving the community. We are all one regardless of skin color.

First time going, unfortunately I got a pretty bad experience overall. Vibe of the shop was alright, but everything about my cut was a disappointment. Asked for a low fade with a side part, got a VERY high fade, too high to part. The barber finished the cut and asked do you want the razor? What I thought he was asking was to clean up the neck with the razor so I said yes, but he then proceeded to shave my face and neck, DRY, no shaving cream. My face got CUT UP. And, the shave wasnt even complete, still a bunch of unshaved spots on my neck. Got charged $35, which I dont understand... Either it was the most expensive cut Ive ever had or the so-called razor added to the price, but if I knew what was going to happen I never wouldve agreed to it. Wasnt gonna bother complaining in the shop because you cant un-cut my hair... Pictures were taken when I got back to my truck and looked in the mirror and realized how bad it turned out.

I am a barber at this shop and I have only been working here since May 2019, but A LOT of these reviews are fake that I have been reading. We are a very diverse shop and welcome anyone who wants a cut to come on in and get Krispy. All the barbers that work here are very friendly, well maintained, very professional, and give great cuts. I cannot say this for every barber in the shop, but if you do not like the cut that I give, it is on me. I assure you that you will be very pleased, if you visit with us. So come on in and get Krispy! :) Hope to see y’all soon!

Location has moved from Downtown. It’s kind of an inconvenience now considering it’s all the way in Amber Meadows across town. The shop is super small in an outdated Plaza next to Weis and some other throwaway stores. I think COVID has taken a toll on the owner because he seemed to be in an aggressive mood.

Ryan has been an activist in the Black community for as long as I can remember. He has tons of half black children, as well as a black spouse. He employs ex convicts coming out of prison to give them hope and a chance at doing better. Behind the white skin, blue eyes and his Scots -Irish and Anglo-Saxon history of Slave ownership hes chosen to help better black people, stand for their rights, and engulf in their culture. When theres a shooting Ryan is there to mourn. If it is Police involved Ryan is there to question it. If Ryan sees any acts of Racism he will gladly defend a minority at any cost. He has a tattoo on his forearm that says King. Thats what Ryan is. A King of his Black children, his Black Wife, and his Black business. When you walk into his shop it feels just like being in West Baltimore. If you want a true urban barber there is none better than Ryans Krispy Cuts

As a first time client I was a bit on edge, but when meeting Tristen, I quickly got a grip and was comfortable in the surrounding. He was polite and set a the perfect price. He made a mistake, even when a picture was supplied, but Im not to mad because I still really do like the look. The cut was longer than usual, but I was happy with it and didnt mind the extra time. 11:45-1:03With respect, my only offence is the care that was not given during these times, with Covid 19. I was asked to write my name, phone number and to sanitize. This was fine, however as other clients came in, I witness this not being asked. This is unacceptable and should be re-evaluated. As well as that, the chairs were not all 6feet apart, not wipped down and proper protection was not demonstrated by the workers. Sanitation was supposed to be used after every cut, but I witness this not happening after some. Tristan, did indeed follow the protocol but, others did not. I like the cut, but that doesnt mean Ill let these circumstance slide. I will be back, but will remember these instances. Please take this time to re-evaluate. Thanks

Took my son here a couple of years ago and I had a cut while he had his hair colored by a seemingly very inexperienced young lady. She quoted one price and then was corrected by what I assume is the owner to charge 10 more dollars for coloring. Guy cutting my hair appeared a little strung out and talked the entire time about the volatile relationship with his girlfriend. This place feels more like a halfway house than barbershop. Second chances are awesome, if thats whats going on here, but you gotta have better standards for conduct and service. I could live with one less barbershop in Frederick anyway.

Received great haircuts both times at this shop. I struggled to find a black barbershop in Frederick and everyone in the shop was welcoming both times. They are a small shop with about 4 stations, so of course there would be a wait.

Review №17

Disorganized. There’s really no “waiting line” like in a traditional business. The barbers take their sweet old time at a turtle’s pace. So plan on being here over an hour. They also seem to have a bunch of their kids or friends in the shop as well. It’s not a living room it’s your place of employment for customers.

Great haircut. I never know what I want and showed the guy a picture from the internet and essentially said something like this. He was super patient, tested three lengths on the sides and always asked if I liked it. on the top he started cutting and about halfway through him finishing i told him I wanted it shorter and apologized for not realizing sooner, he was SUPER patient and told me not to worry at all. Really recommend. Place has a great vibe, very relaxed and comfortable. The guys giving the cuts clearly get along which adds to the atmosphere.

Excellent, professional haircut by someone who knew his craft...The authentic barbershop experience, and at 16.00 was 3- cheaper than the Hair Cuttery. I have gone there before and dont know why I ever stopped. Just look for the vintage electric barber pole at the store on the east side of N.Market in old town Frederick.Update 1/2018 Returned for the third time in so many months. This time Aaron did an amazing job! Conversation was great too! So much better than the slash and dash experience Ive received at the Hair Cuttery, for about the same price!

I was getting a cut chilling then the barber kept asking weird questions like “What have you don’t for the black community?” I told him I don’t know. Then after a couple of minutes he went on an anti trump rant and said we need to vote for Elizabeth Warren and reparations. He told me white people have been holding the black community back and Frederick needs to be more like SouthEast D.C . I just agreed to make it less awkward and before I left he said power to the people. He’s white by the way. Very weird.

The place is nice, but the owner when he doesnt get his way is very rude. His choice of stylist suck. The newest one with the blonde hair shouldn’t be allowed to do shape ups. She Definitly has no clue what one is. My two year old could have given a better shape up. Ryan should not have had to retouch the entire shape up. I should have only had to pay half but I’m assuming the stylist gets no clients that’s why Ryan made me pay full price. Never will I go to her again. Save your money! Wish I could give her a zero.edit: Ryan asked me to take my review down which I considered but the way he came about it I dont think so. How do you make a customer pay for a haircut that was completely wrong, customer not satisfied and then ask us to take the review down. Sorry but NO! Stay away from this business it sucks.

Not child friendly. There is music played in the shop w/ profanity and the barbers also have no care either the way they talk. The white guy( owner?) had a bad attitude. My son is white and it looks like he prefers cutting African hair they specialize in fades and line ups for black people which I shouldve known by looking at the place. He cut the nape of his neck and he started bleeding I asked if there was any hydrogen peroxide he was rude and acted like I offended him. The barbers need interpersonal skills they probably just came from a construction site to barbering

I called quarter till 7:00pm when they close and said I had to take a taxi and would be there in five minutes would he be able to still give me a cut he puts me on hold and asks somebody then comes back and says yes no problem I got you I get there at 6:50pm hes got somebody in the chair and hes about fine he lets me sit there until 7:25pm then says hey man youll have to come back tomorrow the other barber has the keys and is bout to close up I say why you couldnt tell me this before I took a cab over here waisted my money thats the whole reason I called I usually get my hair done only by Ryan but he wasnt in on Tuesday it was the little slim young dude bout 21 he needs a lesson on how to treat people hes making Ryans shop look bad to top it off I get up to leave and he says well Im about to go get me a cut after we leave I can take you there with me if you want I couldnt believe this cat I say you work here bro why you dont get cut here he says he only lets Ryan cut his hair I say point taken so do I Im out and left Im new to the Maryland area and I am really picky bout who puts the clippers on me with Jokers like this dude Im happy he didnt fade me up but pissed at the whole experience and I got three boys that I was gonna bring the next day now I think Im gonna have to find another spot that puts some Respect on peoples time and money cuz where Im from you dont treat people like that... But I will say Ryan know how to do the damn thing he should just not leave people alone in his shop like that cuz if they treat everybody like that when hes not there its bad for business now yall lost at least $100.00 extra a month not including tip maybe they dont care but money is money to me and it all depends the same round my way Id advise anybody looking for a barber shop not go there unless Ryan is the one giving you the cut as for me Im done with it I refuse to be disrespected since then Ive been back only to let Ryan cut all my kids and mine and its been all good
