I lived here for the past two years while completing my residency at Duke. It was close enough for me to ride my bike to work and not far from downtown Durham. I always felt safe and enjoyed fellowship with the neighbors. They also sponsor a good number of community events which allowed me to discover various restaurants around Durham. The office staff was professional and extremely helpful. The Maintenance staff is the absolute best! They were always very timely and friendly to myself and my dog as we went for walks. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend.

These reviews helped me make my decision to move here and so I am leaving a 5-star review to help future tenants make their decisions with their move. Ive lived here for over a month and it has been a great experience. Community events are fun and engaging. The staff here is very responsive and friendly. Units are nice and clean. Neighbors are very pleasant and quiet, except for one instance when there was a party at night, I did not complain but I think some other people did and as a result an email was sent out and it didnt happen again since then. Also in regards to somebody complaining about the Wi-Fi, I have had no problems with the Wi-Fi. Its not lightning fast but its a free service and it gets the job done and its fast enough to get work done.

I have lived at Forest Pointe the past 2 years and it is a great, quiet complex. Someone called it a hidden gem in a past review and it really is. The grounds are well maintained and my unit is in good shape; repairs are also made quickly. They care about the apartments and the people who live here. My unit is on the bottom floor and the occasional roach can be found, but I know the complex sprays, and what can you expect in Durham in the summer. Rent is also a very reasonable price, especially for the quality of the complex and the good location near both Duke and the interstate. I highly recommend living here!

I moved here in December from a not so great apartment complex in Durham. Forest Pointe has exceeded my expectations. It is such a quiet area and the units are beautiful. The rent is reasonable and what you get makes it completely worth it. I wish I had found out about this place much sooner. I love living here. Everyone in the community has been extremely kind :)

Im reviewing based on a review from Joy W. I cannot understand how your electric bill is so off the chart for these apartments. I live in a one bedroom and my power bill has never exceeded $75 even in winter with heat. I must admit Im very aware of my power usage. Id like to suggest you check your windows to see if there are any leaks. I did have some leaks and maintenance addressed them quickly. I dont know the size of your apartment or how many people are living there. Perhaps Duke Power will come out for an evaluation inside the apartment to assess where energy use is occurring. They do this for homeowners so not sure if theyll do it for an apartment. Have you asked the Duke Power what the power bills were for previous tenants in your apartment? As a five year resident, Id hate to see you go when this community is such a peaceful and great place to live....for me anyway. Duke Power also offers an app that allows you to view the times of day most power is being used, etc. Give them a call and see if you can sign up for their alerts. Hope you see this post or the office sees it and offers these suggestions. The staff is great!

I have been residing here at Forest Pointe Apartments for over a year now and I must say that it has been a wonderful experience. The office staff are always so personable, every time I go into the office I am met with smiles. The maintenance staff are friendly, efficient, and quick to respond. You cannot beat the cost combined with the location because it affords close access to downtown Durham and North Durham. Duke Hospital is only 5 min away by car and downtown is just a short drive. I have only good things to say about the staff who are always so pleasant, the facility, and the value.

I have lived here for about year and while the apartment complex itself is fine, and management is friendly, if you’re someone who needs wifi for school/work/life DO NOT COME HERE. The only consistent thing about the wifi is that it never seems to be working. At least once every week or every other week (best case scenario), the wifi stops working for a day or two. On the days that the wifi is working, the connection is slow and choppy. This problem is SO frustrating, especially in the times of COVID when school/job/life is reliant on having a decent wifi connection. I’ve lived in a good number of apartments but none have seemed to struggle with providing its residence with wifi the way this apartment complex has. This reason alone makes me regret living here.

I do not recommend this place to live. The laundry facility is trash. Only two of the dryers work and the others either don’t get hot at all or take your money. This apartment is not worth $823 a month. These are old put together apartments. My lease is up in four months and I can’t wait to leave. Of course the office is super friendly, but the management really doesn’t give two sh*ts. The water should have continued to be free and the laundry facility should definitely be free. Staff is friendly and they adress things like bugs quickly. However, when I signed the lease I was told that my electric bill was expected to be about 50 to $70 a month. Thats about what I was paying at my last one bedroom. My electric bills are between $120 and $180. I have a friend with a three-bedroom in the same complex who pays less than that for her three-bedroom. We have similar energy habits.Duke Energy and says that theres nothing wrong with my meter and the office says that they checked and made sure that nothing was wrong. I suspect whats wrong is just going to be expensive for them to fix so they would rather me pay exorbitant bills then actually fix whats wrong. I will not be renewing my lease. Maybe if you get an apartment thats not in my building youd be okay. But I would not recommend this to a friend

I have lived at Forest Pointe for nearly two years and have recently renewed and upgraded to a three-bedroom apartment. I expect to live here until I finish my graduate work at Duke, and even after should I continue to stay in the area.To begin, Forest Pointe apartments could not be more affordable considering where in Durham it is. Duke Universitys East Campus is within walking distance, and safety has never been a concern or issue. Costco, a Kroger grocery store, Home Depot, and other many other stores are also within walking distance at North Pointe Shopping Center. A short five minute drive takes you downtown, close to all the wonderful restaurants and theaters Durham has to offer. Bus stops that take you downtown and elsewhere in Durham are within minutes, but Durham as a city isnt very bus friendly, so having a car is preferable. Forest Pointe is by far, hands down, the best located and most affordable apartment complex.Rent ranges depending on where you live and what floor plan you want (carpet vs. wood flooring; pets are a bit extra per month as well), but its less than $700 for a one-bedroom, usually. The staff at Forest Pointe is exceptional, and even if I placed a work order at noon, it was taken care of the same business day. Theyre all very friendly and Ive gotten to have a warm rapport with them over the years. That I have had the same neighbor since I moved in I think also speaks volumes about the type of complex Forest Pointe is.The apartment itself is equipped with in-unit W/D, internet access, a security system, and a dishwasher. The bathroom has wonderful counter space, and theres a quaint storage closet on your balcony, which Ive turned into a peaceful retreat.

My husband and I have been here for about 5 months now. It’s a good fit for us as we were looking for a more affordable apartment to save some money. We’re in a 2BR 1Bath for ~$850 which is the best bang for your buck that we found in the area. I appreciate how ethnically diverse the residents are here and that there’s a decent sized grassy area for our dog. It’s also ~10 mins to downtown Durham, Fosters/Guglhupf, Grub and lots of other great food places. We did have some sound issues when we initially moved in but those have since resolved. I love that parking is ample in the lot or street, and there’s no need for guest passes. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful and maintenance is on top of things. Our apartment is not beautifully pristine, we have laminate kitchen counter tops etc. but overall it’s been really great for us. If you’re looking for a good value apartment with attentive and reliable staff then this is a great option!

My experience has been amazing at Forest Pointe for last one and half years. The best part I will say is the management. The work orders are take care of within hours, which is great! My 1BR apartment is spacious, gets enough natural lights and good insulation providing the I-85 so close. The parking spaces are generous, and neighborhood is peaceful. The workout room is okay, nothing fancy. I rarely use it, and I think it needs some AC/ Air freshner! The complex is very close to Costco, my fav shopping place and Duke, the workplace. So if anyone wants a clean, peaceful, affordable apartment with best management, I strongly recommend Forest Pointe.

Ive lived here for 1 year and just decided to renew for another. The office and maintenance staff are super friendly and responsive. I hardly ever have an issue in my apartment, but when I do they are so quick to take care of things. This place has everything I need... washer-dryer in unit, central ac, alarm system, my own hot water heater (sooo useful in an apartment community), dishwasher, plenty of closet space, included wifi, a small gym, wood floors, plenty of kitchen cabinets, plenty of parking, the works! Kroger and Costco are right around the corner so those basic needs are very convenient. Before I moved here from NYC, I had to do a lot of internet apartment hunting and I read some older reviews that complained about things that simply arent a problem here (for instance, pest control... which is so under control... Ive only seen a few ants once in my first week). Also, this place is doggy friendly and very reasonable about the associated costs. To boot, it is relatively inexpensive to live here -- very competitive for Durham -- and you get a comparatively nicer apartment than you would for similar prices elsewhere. I highly recommend Forest Pointe. You should come take a look!

The office staff is nice although you have to make sure you double check things at times. I feel safe in the area (especially hearing bad things about Durham in general) my parking lot is well lite and i love it especially since my work has me getting off late at night. However, the wifi sucks! I suggest you get your own or you will be frustrated. Not even good for browsing now seems as though it has gotten worse. Forest Pointe has been a pretty great place to be in my 20+ months living here. I live in a ground level 2 BR 1 Bth. Parking is rarely an issue and is open for anyone. No reserves, which I like. The people living in the community are super diverse ethnically which is cool too.The office is where Forest Pointe really shines with its helpful staff and convenient food and community events. Maintenance is pretty prompt and helpful. As far as comfort goes: I have a huge phobia of bugs and that was a worry living on the ground floor but that hasnt been much of an issue :) However they pretreat the apartment, it does seem to work pretty well. I only see about 6 bugs a year for the most part. The doors and walls in the apartment provide ok sound canceling -- the doors moreso. Ceilings are solid as well, can only hear neighbors if they are screaming or bouncing around.Speaking of ceilings though, I have had some issues with ceiling leaks about once every 4 months on average but maintenance has been solid in dealing with issues and it hasnt been a huge inconvenience. The apartments are right off the highway which is convenient but also there is always a little highway noise if thats the type of thing that bothers you ( I like it).TL;DRPros- Cool helpful Staff/Cool events- Washer and Dryer included in 2br- Maintenance helpful and keeps outside area clean- Essentially bug free- Storage space in back of apartment- Office holds packages dropped thereCons- Had a few leaking issues- Had a theft incident with an amazon package left at door (sometimes carriers dont know about office)- Walls can permeate smells on occasion but hasnt been an issue for a while for me- Windows could sound cancel a little betterAll in all I recommend! Having lived here for almost six years, I feel compelled to note my experience thus far at Forest Pointe. To begin, I moved into a one-bedroom place in FP1 after spending a year visiting a good friend who lived two buildings over every week from 2011-12. Because my friend, Guy B., always mentioned how helpful the staff was, I decided to see for myself. Just as he had mentioned, the office and maintenance staff were extremely courteous, honest, and quick to help whenever I had an issue. Thus, three-years later I decided to upgrade to the brick buildings on Sedgefield street (which, conveniently, kept me close to the relocated office on Guess road.) I must say, I have again felt lucky to experience the utmost care and professionalism from the staff. Moreover, I never felt pressured to renew and the renewal rates always seemed very reasonable. As some have mentioned, a few more re-cycling bins would benefit the tenants, but this con does not detract much from the overall experience. Because Jennifer, Lachelle, Danielle, Juan and Greg always meet my needs, I am happy to say that I will renew my lease again for a seventh year starting next month in the newly-renovated Hillcrest apartments. Thus, from a hard-working school teacher, Id like to say thank you guys -- and Raquel and Mike from the Cares Team -- for always making me feel welcome in this close-knit community. Bravo!

Review №58

The maintenance team and office staff in particular were always extremely kind and accommodating, and did their very best to work with me whenever an issue arose. Unfortunately, arising issues were the norm at this property and the staff, despite their best intentions, are not given much to work with by the parent company, Apartment Dynamics.1) When I moved in, both my stove and refrigerator were defective. I spent the first few days with no means to store or cook food.2) The kitchen cabinets were all (and I mean ALL) installed incorrectly and not a single one would close. The drawers did not have drawer stops and would come flying out of the counter. Kitchen required a complete overhaul.3) The cable line to the bedroom was not connected to service and the staff could not figure out how to fix it. I ended up having to arrange a repair with Time Warner myself and had to bill the apartment complex. This took 2 weeks, during which I had no Internet service (I work from home - not good).4) The updated fitness center they promised when I signed my lease (but was conveniently unavailable for viewing before move-in) is literally a small bedroom in an offsite building with a home gym machine and a treadmill in it. This was blatant lie #1.5) The laundry facility is in a constant state of filth that I cannot imagine passes any sort of health inspection - dirt, mold and dead insects are EVERYWHERE. Its repulsive. Nearly ALL of the washing machines are in disrepair and the coin machine has never worked - meaning we all had to drive to the nearest laundromat to get quarters anyway. Oh, and it costs $3 per wash and another $1.50 to dry - NOT $2 per load flat rate as I was quoted during my tour. Blatant lie #2.6) In my 3rd week the apartment became infested with fleas. I have never owned an animal in my life. I was eaten alive and had to vacate my home for several days because the office couldnt get their contracted pest control service in over the weekend. I was not reimbursed for this. I was also not reimbursed for the carpet treatment and flea bombs that I purchased myself in an effort to eradicate them so that I wouldnt have to leave my apartment. I was told that, because I couldnt prove that I hadnt caused the infestation myself, they were having Orkin treat the place ONCE as a courtesy but that if they resurfaced (which the Orkin man said was common) that I would be held responsible. Basically, *sorry about the flea infestation chasing you out of your new home, but you cant prove its our fault and you probably cant afford to litigate over this, so if it isnt resolved this week, were going to start charging YOU to fix it*. The Orkin man later informed me that he suspected the fleas had been in the carpets all along and became active when I moved in.7) The pipes in the bathroom were installed with a U-bend that is too deep, causing the sink to drain very slowly. I put in a work order to have it fixed and was told yeah, the pipe is too low. When I agreed and said, OK, well then lets fix that I was told they wouldnt do that, I just had to deal with the slow drain. They then tried to get me to sign the all-clear on the work order stating that the problem was resolved. I made them amend the document.Overall, not great. Again, the office staff is super awesome and tried their best. I suspect that a lot of the problems stem from the parent companys bottom line mentality - once youve signed the lease youre put on the back burner in favor of new recruits. I cant imagine how bad it is going to get when the new buildings currently under construction are ready to rent. Terrible place to live, but great source of inspiration if youre looking to direct a movie about a Mad Max style circus.
