I had been bringing my 85 Vanagon here for a couple of years with relatively good experiences, although I never had to have anything major done, mainly simple routine maintenance. Recently I had been experiencing transmission issues and had taken the van in to get looked at. I spoke to Jim over the phone and in person explaining to him that the little research I had done led me to believe it could be a linkage issue rather than in the transmission. A week later Jim called me back and with very little explanation said that the linkage was fine and that the transmission had an internal issue and needed to be replaced. I picked up the van without having them touch the transmission. Fast forward 3 weeks... I had taken the van to another shop in town and explained the transmission/linkage issue to them. The very next day they called me back and said there were a couple pieces on the linkage that were broken and needed replacement. In total these parts plus labor will be less than $500, where the total transmission replacement that Jim said I needed would have ran me upwards of $3k. On top of that, they wanted to charge me $60 to replace a battery not including parts. In short, I will no longer be brining any of my vehicles to Durango Premier Auto Care.

Good to have an honest repair shop in Durango unlike the other place that charged me $700 to fix my brakes. Lovely!

I have been pleased with the service here. Most recently they replaced a gasket which was leaking fluid from engine. It was done in a timely fashion. Customer service is very good.

Durango Premier rebuilt the entire A/C system on my 10-year old BMW X5. Work was done in just a few days. Jim Borst, service manager, was both thoughtful and responsive in explaining the work and following through with me. Good value is always a pointless question when it comes to these exceptional, but costly-to-maintain, vehicles.

I had my vehicle towed over 100 miles to this auto repair shop. And I am glad I did. My vehicle came in to their shop on a Friday afternoon and I needed it to be fixed asap so I could get back on the road and be at work on Monday. And they got me right in and I was able to get on the road again the same day. They also went the extra mile and checked for other safety issues as the same time. Highly recommend.

I went to get my oil changed in my Cooper and asked if the could check it out make sure nothing major was wrong (run diagnostics).After 3.5hrs told me one thing that I didn’t know and it was going to be an additional 400 to run more test! Didn’t tell me I was burning oil or oil pressure problems. I went to Farmington next 2 days and had to add a quart of oil. I have no leaks! Lost about 1/4 of power couldn’t go over 70mph first time since I had it in 3 months. I live in Aztec work in Durango so I make the drive every day.I won’t be returning due to lack of info and the unknown half day it took.

Was a little nervous using a non-dealership shop to take care of some work on my Porsche Macan, but I was very pleased with the work and professionalism at this shop and with Jim the service manager. Cost was reasonable as I did not have to travel to the nearest Porsche dealership in Albuquerque probably with an overnight stay. Very satisfied!

Ive had my 2 mini coopers worked on here for the past 3 years. They are honest about what your car needs, never pushy or trying to get you to do things you really dont need to do. I have gone to Durango Premier Auto shop for the last 30 years when it used to be called Durango small car they have always serviced my car and kept me in good standing no matter what car I had and Ive had a few in 30 years. I yesterday I woke up and my car wouldnt start so I jumped it and drove around for an hour before work and then still wouldnt start after I turned it off, which is unusual. I called them up they got me in right away and figured out the problem that day . Now that is service ! Im grateful for them. So important for me to have a good mechanic. I drive my car a lot and live 30 min from town. Thanks guys you ROCK!!!

Durango Premier Auto did some work on my Acura recently after no one else was willing too. It was a simple problem but since it was a foreign car I was getting turned away. DPA was great to work with super easy to communicate with, pick up and drop off was so easy! I will absolutely be bringing my car back for any future service.

I had a pre-purchase-inspection performed by Premier on a car that I was considering purchasing. They thoroughly went over the car in detail to give me piece of mind that the car I was considering is good to go. They took the time to go over their findings with me, very professional.

Love these guys! Honest evaluation of problems and quick response with repairs needed and cost. I had my car back in a very timely manner. Costs were slightly under estimate given, which was really nice! I highly recommend!

Father in law went to have a clutch repair done. Quoted $1,000. Upon completion, given a bill for $1,800. They broke a lug bolt while taking off his tire and charged him $300 to fix it!!! They broke it, why are they charging him to fix it?!?!?? Then they replaced the thermostat without being asked, charging him almost another $200. The car was never hot and the thermostat was fine. Poor business practices and scalping the people who come in. Beware of price gouging and get ready to be charged for anything they break!!!!

Just moved to Durango area and I knew that I knew I wanted more care than a standard oil-change quickie change place could deliver. Wound up here and could not have encountered better service. High quality from start to finish. I really liked the fact that I could make an appointment and wait for the service--and they delivered in the time they said they would. We always use DPA and trust their work. My only negative comment is that I wasnt provided a detailed printout of what services were done. Since their service doesnt go to Carfax, the printouts are important as documentation.

We were very pleased Durango Premier auto serviced our Buick, we werent sure if only foreign cars were accepted. The service was exactly as explained, timely, and reasonably priced.

I live more than 30 miles from Durango and didnt have a ride to get back and forth to my home while my car was being serviced. So, I was staying at a nearby Durango hotel. The repairs needed were significant. Durango Small Car rushed to get the parts and the mechanic even stayed late after work hours to complete the repairs quickly. As a result, I only had to stay at the hotel one night. Everyone at Durango Small Car was professional, detail-oriented, and went the extra mile.

Jim and a Doug never cease to amaze me with there knowledge of automobiles. This visit they explained to me why my spare tire was smaller than the 4 already on the car.They kept referring to the little tire as the “ donut”. Maybe they meant the do-not tire ? Do not use the little fella unless it is an emergency ? I will ask next time I visit.They informed me also that they had put synthetic oil into my car. I only purchase organic oils when I grocery shop, but they convinced me my car using this synthetic stuff would not be cause for my friends to no longer view me as a vegan ( this was personally important).As always I saved a lot of $ compared to the Price Gouging Lexus dealer down yonder in ABQ.I highly recommend these guys. My car started overheating on my way to Durango to see my son during the big February 2019 snowstorm after a 2 foot powder day at Wolf Creek. I was nervous about the breaking down on Red Mountain Pass in a storm so I needed a local shop. A friend of my sons who works in the car business in Durango recommended Durango Small Car. Jim and the team at Durango Small Car accurately diagnosed the problem and repaired my car for $200 less than their estimate. I especially appreciate this being a one time out of town customer. I highly recommend Durango and wish they were in Carbondale.

The staff are friendly, courteous and efficient. Most importantly, they are honest. While traveling up to Durango from Albuquerque, I ran over a large rock. I could drive the car, but I wasn’t sure it was safe to go on to Ft Collins. I took my car to Durango Small Car and they found damage on some mechanical parts including a crack on the transfer case of my BMW. While the car was on the lift, they showed me the damage. No fluids were leaking and they assured me I could continue on to Ft Collins and get it repaired there. They also said that insurance minus the deductible would cover it. An unscrupulous shop would have told me I couldn’t drive it and I had to get it fixed there. I drove to Ft Collins with no problems and had the repairs done at a BMW dealer. I highly recommend Durango Small Car.

I had brought my BMW X5 (4.8L V8) into Durango Small Car after taking it to a BMW dealer (in Santa Fe). First, the BMW dealer did NOT correctly diagnose the issue with the vehicle and wanted over $5000 to fix it. I thought it would be best to get a second opinion and so glad i did! Not only did Durango Small Car correctly diagnose the issue but the cost was only $2700. These guys are pros and they know their stuff. I would not trust my vehicle to anyone else. Tyler and Jim are so customer oriented and have been very helpful and patient with my silly questions. These guys are the best!

I was passing through Durango when I had fuel pump failure. They were very knowledgeable about my car, they treated me like I knew something about it, and fit it into their busy schedule. Very helpful and honest!I was getting ready to go out of town and a check engine light came on. I was scared to drive the 6 hours without having it checked and they were nice enough to squeeze me in and check it for me before me getting on the road. Saved me a lot of headache. They were up front and told me there was nothing major and didnt try to milk me for a large service bill!

Had my injection pump timed and the engine timed on my VW 1.9 TDI. They got it done in just under 3 hours and the price was very reasonable. They really know there stuff I highly recommend you take your VW here if you need any work done!! Our Audi diesel ad blue warning light came on during our spring break road trip. We would’ve exceeded the allowable mileage before getting back home, so we called Durango Small Car to see if they could help. They said no problem. We brought it in and disaster averted within about an hour.

Had them do a pre purchase vehicle inspection an a van I bought. They missed a couple things on the inspection and did not run engine codes, which has cost me alot of money.

Charged $2700 to fix an oil leak. Got the car back with worse oils leaks all over the place and electrical problems that didnt exist before we took it in.

Did excellent service and the part broke 3 months later (faulty part, not their fault) and they fixed it for free.

One month ago I took my BMW in, got it back with a $750 bill and not able to fix it!!!Will never use again
