Last night one of the tow truck drivers was on my friends butt for no reason at all. He continued to follow him and stay close until we hit a red light and the driver decided to stop and start yelling at us for no reason. I think this company could have more respect and drive a little better.

We were connected to this company through our insurance roadside assistance. Arrival was during the window given to us and the tow truck driver was extremely helpful, including giving us advice on who to contact for transportation around town with a dog and helping us choose a service center where they would take our car. Highly recommended.

Had a travel trailer tire blow south of Cortez. My roadside provider selected these guys too come do the tire swap (my Jack failed or I would have done it, but thats why I have a jack and have roadside!) They told me 90 minutes. I waited 120 and then started calling. Nobody answered their main line but the message said I could try a different number. I tried that number and the woman I spoke with said she couldnt give me the ETA of the driver so gave me his number instead. I tried calling him and could never get a hold of him. Tried texting him, since I knew it was a cell phone, and got no response. I have now been sitting on the side of the road in 90+ temps and it has been more than three hours. Nobody from this company has called to explain the delay, offer an ETA, or even return a simple phone call. Do not use this company. If you are a roadside provider, do not contract with this company.Update: I was there for almost four hours. After posting the initial review I ended up changing the tire using the cheapo tire jack designed for my tow vehicle and the help of a passing local. Seriously, of you are stranded these guys will leave you high and dry and wont even bother contacting you.

So very grateful for Slade and his team!! He pulled my 21 ft promaster van out of sinking mud with the upmost professionalism the entire time. From speaking directly to my insurance company and staying in touch until he arrived, having the trucks and tools needed to get the job done and the most positive attitude the whole time. I had used S&R towing in the past and had an okay experience so I thought I’d call them for a couple would was from out of state and broke down in an area where they had no cell service. As soon as I got to cell range I called S&R towing and gave them all the information of where this couple was, all the car information, what was wrong with the car and where the couple needed to go. S&R towing dispatch had quoted me 90 minutes but they never showed up or called me back to let me know they couldn’t do the tow. Meanwhile I assumed this couple would have been taken care of but they weren’t. The couple had to walk many miles to get cell service to call a different towing company. I will never be using S&R towing ever again. I assume S&R towing may reply to this review and ask me to call them to try and make things right or discuss the situation but they should have made it right from the get go!!

Tonight on the 4th of July, 2021 a tow truck from this company drove with all SIX of their headlights on driving south on 528. That’s three extremely bright lights on each side. It made driving in front of them painful and dangerous at night. All attempted signals to show that their brights were on were ignored. The blatant disregard for other drivers on the road is abhorrent and quite frankly makes me think twice about using this service in future. It’s such a shame the road courtesy is forgotten by those who we hire to serve us on the roads.

We called them to tow our car from Durango to Denver. Came to pick us up in around 45 minutes and got us to Denver in around 6-7 hours. Overall, they were very friendly and professional with reasonable charges!

My sister called yesterday to get her car towed and they originally said 10:30am. My sister gets a call at 1:30pm saying they would not be able to get there until 2:30pm. When my sister called after 2:30pm because she had not received a call, the dispatcher Kimberly was annoyed and said they would get to it that night and call her. At 7:30pm we still had not received a call so we checked on the vehicle ourselves and saw it had finally been towed with no notification. We called to locate the vehicle only to find out that they towed it to the wrong shop, which means they had to tow it AGAIN to the right place. My sister called several times this morning with no answer until I called and was greeted by a woman named Katherine who still didnt know if the car had been towed to the right shop.After a full day of trying to get her car in the shop Im obviously flustered. I let Katherine know how unprofessional this whole experience has been and she lets me know that I sound like a woman complaining and hangs up.From there, she finally calls my sister who had been trying to get ahold of her all morning and lets her know that her car is at the right place...FINALLY! As we started driving up to the shop to make sure it was actually there we get a call from the shop saying they are trying to tow the car again because they didnt think we would pay. Mind you, it took them ALL day with NO communication to get the job done and within 5 minutes they are trying to send someone out to tow the car for the third time when they arent receiving their money.My sister talked with the owner Slade and she didnt have to pay for the service. We appreciate the waiving of the fee but I do not wish this experience on anyone. Im not trying to deter business from the Owner, I just wanted to share that we were provided no customer service along with the blaming of cell towers, bee stings and other emergencies as to why they cant call their customers back and tell them they dont know where their vehicle is...

Educated me on weird grounding issues with an import vehicle when I needed a jump start. They helped me twice, showed up when they said they would. Slade was super helpful.

What sets this company aside from the rest? Well, not just the price! But these gentlemen always show up no matter what, no matter the circumstances if you can count on anyone its these guys Ive used them over and over again in situations where the towing companys will tell you flat out no I mean every single one in town!,, .... then theres S&R you call and one way or another no matter the situation slade will make it happen these people have a heart and are true gentlemen you ask. yes they go there for there customer- where! Doesnt matter where these boys will break there back all night for whatever it takes to help and they care about you sometimes forget there getting paid they just want you on the road and safe again thank you S&R ur told nope w9nt go there nope dont go up that road nope not covered,, call these boys,

Hired them to move a 12 foot tall shed to Pagosa. I confirmed the knowledge that this was 12 foot tall... Meaning it would require a low trailer to move it legally. Fridays scheduled time missed due to vehicle issues. Saturdays scheduled pickup time missed by almost 3 hours but driver called to inform me he couldnt move it due to height. I understand things can happen that are unexpected, but I expected that they would know what they can and cannot tow/move. 2 days off work, wasted, not to mention the shed owners time waiting for pickup. Next time Ill know better. Not recommended.

Called for a simple jump start. Two hours later no one showed up. I tried to call and get a status update and they assured me someone would be there soon. Another hour later still no show. I would not recommend this company if you want to get anything done in a timely or professional manner.

My vehicle broke down in Silverton and my insurance company set me up with S & R towing. They towed my vehicle to their shop to diagnose the issue, where it was found that the transmission was no longer working. Being from Arizona, I did not have available funds to fix my vehicle at the time, and found it in my best interest to tow it home on a car trailer so I could gather money later for the expensive fix. I arrived to their yard to load my vehicle for the tow home. Upon my arrival, Dewayne and the others at the shop worked hard to push my vehicle up hill onto the trailer, and also ensured it was properly strapped for the long drive home. They were friendly and extremely helpful in this process.

Our insurance assigned us to this company after our truck broke down. We heard nothing from the company and wanted to see if the original 90min eta was still accurate, so we called them. Four times we called with no answer with no voicemail. Eventually we got a call back saying oh sorry we were busy, and don’t know when we’re coming so leave the keys under the mat. Seriously? We are 2 teenagers so we called our parents. They spoke with a woman on the phone who then said oh, we’ll get someone out to you immediately. Waited three hours and nothing. Eventually we got a call from our insurance saying they wanted to switch tow companies because they were trying to bill us extra for an off-road recovery, when we were on the shoulder of a paved road. Wow. This whole time, instead of trying to help us, they were in contact with the insurance to get more money. I do not recommend this company for any services.

My sister and I are traveling through Durango from Texas and we had to make a u-turn off the road and got stuck!! The guys were there in no time and pulled us out!! I had called two other tow companies that didn’t even answer their phone and they answered and saved us in less than an hour! I highly recommend their services!

I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy.Through no fault of his own, my truck broke down while my son was using it. After being referred to this company by my insurance agent, my son was told to leave the key inside the truck, start walking home & they would pick it up when they could. When my son called me and relayed this information, I was appalled.While I was on my way to rescue my son, I called S&R, identified the situation I was referring to, and asked for clarification on this comment, as well as their ETA for picking up my truck. I was promptly reprimanded as a parent for 1) Not taking responsibility for my son & picking him up myself, 2) Allowing my son to go ANYWHERE these days considering COVID restrictions, 3) Not knowing where my son was because he said he was not on the paved road. 4) Trying to create excuses as to why they shouldn’t charge what they do.1) I was literally ON MY WAY to pick him up at that moment. 2) He was outdoors and chose an activity which displays a perfect example of social distancing. 3) I knew EXACTLY where my son was. He pulled off to the side of the road & parked in a turn-out that happens to be dirt. Even if he happened to be on any of the 100’s of miles of dirt road around here, that does NOT mean he was “Off-road”. I even sent pictures to them clearly showing his location when I arrived. & 4) After sending pictures PROVING that this does NOT qualify as an “Off-Road Recovery” situation, they STILL tried to negotiate that fee with my insurance company.Meanwhile, after being told they’d be there in 90 minutes, they left me and my son stranded for 4 hours & never actually showed up.

They were two days late to come pick up the vehicle, were extremely rude, unprofessional, and had failed to complete the promises they made. I highly recommend to try finding/using a different company, worst experience I’ve ever dealt with.

Had my insurance setup a tow with this company. Was given a nonworking phone number, their Google listed number was being forwarded to a 505 number that was not turned on and had no voicemail service setup. After waiting 45 minutes for someone to contact me, I had my insurance company cancel the tow and went with a company that can provide actual customer service.

Do NOT use S&R!!! They seriously lack in good customer service. Arrived late. No communication to advise, brought a pick up truck and chain to pull a 50000 lb motorhome out of being stuck in gravel/dirt. Left to get help and gave a time to return. No show. No communication. They suck!

I called S&R and they were so helpful and easy to work with. Dewayne had the tow truck there within 30 minutes, and was super personable and professional. They are way more reasonably priced compared to others in Durango. Highly recommend! Dewayne also had an awesome hat 😉 Thank you S&R!

Excuses, excuses! I gave them a week to get my car picked up. Never happened. I called another company and it was picked up within hours. S&R is only getting 1 star because it is the lowest I could give.

I was randomly assigned S&R through my Progressive insurance app/dispatcher, but now I know to call them directly and immediately if I need a tow longer than 15 miles. these guys are hungry for business and will jump on your job immediately. Very nice crew locally-owned and reasonably priced. I think they charge about $80/hour. They have various trucks for differently size jobs. I had the pleasure of riding in the back of one of their trucks with several of their employees hilariously due to one of the trucks breaking down at the exact time of my tow. Will definitely call them first directly next time. Thanks guys!

I was stuck in a snow storm in the San Juan mountains and I thought no one would come help me get back to Durango. Dwayne and Colin took the tow request and were extremely helpful and got my car loaded up and were very personable and got me safely to my destination despite the conditions presented. Funny dudes that made me feel a lot better in a very stressful situation. Very reliable people that put others who need help first. I 100% recommend using S&R Affordable towing they are great people.

My family came from S. Texas in a Diesel truck when the broke down about 30 min from Durango on a Sunday. And the owner offered to send a mechanic to see if he could fix it instead of towing it. Sounds like a great idea. I told him I lost all oil since there was a big puddle under the truck.The mechanic arrived in a pickup truck with no tools or supplies. We had to go to Farmington, NM another 30 min away to get oil and other supplies he needed. Upon return he spent another hour or two until finally telling me that the only thing left was to thaw off the fuel line and left. I had no means of doing that!!! Had to flag down a local who just happened to know a local volunteer Fire Department guys who came out to help me and my family out. After another hr or so the truck finally started and we went on back to Texas. $530 later seems like a fair price only to have it break down on our way back and to find out that the FIX we got in Colorado only created a timing bomb.If it was for the great strangers of Clovis, NM (we broke down 40 miles from it in the middle of nowhere) wed be in serious trouble.I called the owner and told him how much I did NOT appreciate the expense that cost us a lot more had the mechanic admitted he WAS NOT FIT for the job and simply towed our truck to the mechanic the next day. To which he politely responded I will make it right with youTHOSE WERE THE LAST WORDS I HEARD FROM S&R THE NOT SO AFFORDABLE TOWING.That was 3 weeks ago. Now I feel it is important to let everyone know about our experience to avoid same happening to yall.Know what youre getting and probably just stick to the tow.

Service was mediocre, every time I asked what their hourly rate was, the question was avoided. This company then wanted to charge me 7000$ and would not let me have my car until they were paid. I was told my car took 23.5 hours to recover, this was a hostage situation 100%. Don’t hire them, they will lie to you and charge you an outrageous bill.

They were hired through insurance, contacted us and said we were 3rd vehicle on their schedule, after second day no show we called insurance company to cancel service . insurance company said they showed ticket completed and were billed for service... except my vehicle is STILL on the side of the road... WHAT SAY YOU????

I had a very recent interaction with the owner and never expected him to be so professional and nice about the whole process. Most towing companies I have experienced in the past were rude, boorish and unhelpful. Had a truck stuck in our front yard. They didn’t even bring a tow truck just a gmc truck and started to dig the truck out. They then began to throw ice melt on my yard where my dogs could get to. We, the property owners, told them they couldn’t do that because it’s toxic to pets. They then got in truck and left. I find it ridiculous that they never tried to knock on the door or try to contact us in any way. I am giving them one star cause I can’t give them zero.

Slade and his crew were beyond amazing...they came out to jump my battery through aaa and then realized the battery was fine but my fuel pump needed to be replaced. I flew out of town the next day, and coordinated with Slade to get my car picked up and checked out. He took care of everything while I was out of town, and even fixed my wiper blade motor. He always answered his phone right away, and was clear and host about pricing/work to be done. I would recommend s and r towing 10/10 Everytime and trust they arent riping you off. Slade wants to make customers for life. Call him for towing and mechanical problems !!
