The staff was extremely friendly, and extremely good at what they do. They diagnosed my problems quickly and kept my informed along the way. I would say they are the best in not only the area but anyplace I’ve been before.

Animas imports is our new auto repair shop! Our Honda Pilot had just received a diagnosis from a different auto shop that the transmission was shot….thinking we would need a new car, we thought it would be wise to get a second opinion. Animas Imports came highly recommended from friends at the Subaru and Chevrolet dealerships. Animas Imports pinpointed a different diagnosis…the heat deflector shield was rubbing the drive shaft. Much less costly and impactful. Kay conveyed the thorough diagnosis, including photos, in a timely and professional manner. Additionally, they performed an overall inspection of the car, noting future service issues on the rear brakes, battery and sway bars.

I was working/vacationing in Durango when my oil light came on. They were able to get me in and diagnose the problem and fix it. While we did have one little issue, they made sure everything was working properly before heading home on a long drive. Kay is fantastic and will make sure you are taken care of and understand everything being done.

Took in our Range Rover to fix suspension squeek. Al of a sudden my quote to fix was over $5,000. Plus another $900. For rear brakes which seemed fine until I took the car to them. Needed the car in a week and was told that they would guarantee the car done by then. They called me a day later and said they couldn’t get all the parts so they would fix what they could and I could bring it back another time. So much for the guarantee. I told them I would just come and get it and pay the $158.00 for diagnosing it. They said they would not release the car until I paid approximately $450 restocking fees for ordered parts they had not even received. I paid and picked it up. Unless you have money you want to donate to a greedy car repair, I suggest going anywhere else.

The service writer and technician were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and professional. Couldn’t recommend a better shop to take our 2019 sprinter van.

Animas Automotive is IMO the very best auto repair shop in Durango. They are knowledgeable about all brands of automobiles including European and Japanese, and their work is always first rate. The most recent work they did for me was on the engine of my 2013 BMW, but they have worked on my 2007 Honda S2000, as well as my 2018 Jeep JKL. I recommend Animas without reservation. I have never had a complaint through the years, and their work is guaranteed.

I went here to get new brake pads and rotors because mine were acting up on my way back to Texas. It’s only been two months and they’re completely rusted and leave my rims black with dirt. I’m also almost sure I paid double what I would’ve paid if I had made it to the BMW dealership. Don’t go here!

Took my BMW in for an oil change 6th of July asked them to top my fluids off as well… and they forgot. Two days later my car began to over heat when I called to address the issue the receptionist Kay gave me the run around to just get me off the phone. Then when I took my car in 3 days later they charged me $250 for a false diagnostic test. The negligence I’ve experienced working with this business is unacceptable Six days later I called to follow up with the problem they were unresponsive, and when I eventually got a hold of them, they were very vague with the results to the diagnostic test. I am new in town and I thought I could trust this business.

Disappointed in parts mark up. They charge me $800 for a $500 water pump and $50 a gallon for antifreeze which cost 20 at the auto parts store. Excessive mark up in my opinion.

I was in Durango for a couple of months on business and my battery went dead. I also needed two lock actuators installed so I had them do the work as a battery change in A Porsche Cayenne Turbo S requires removing the drivers seat. They did great work using all OEM parts. Its nice to know you can trust a repair shop when youre not at your home repair shop. I highly recommend Animas Automotive.

They saved me in a pinch. I was off-roading with my city tires and got a flat (side-wall gash). The only place that had the size of tire I needed within 200 miles! They came in on a Saturday to get me back on the road. Very pleased and very nice people!

Kay and Dana were amazing. Kay (Office Manager) listened to my issues with our Dodge Sprinter Mercedes diesel Motorhome. She confirmed that they had the software to update and calibrate the MAF and EGR codes. Dana (Owner) really dug into the programming and found a code DPF that was in the Motorhome for at least the last 6 years. If they could not have fixed it I would have had to get the Motorhome towed to Albuquerque from Durango. No one else In the area had the software to correct. Our Motorhome has never run better. Thanks Dana and Kay for a great experience. We made it to Tucson without a problem and more power to go up the mountains.

I found myself stuck while traveling through Durango with a potentially serious suspension issue on my older model LandRover. In a small town, there aren’t a lot of options for LandRover Service, and in this case I only found one, after checking online and calling around. Animas Auto not only seemed to understand the nature of my problem but they were able to fit me in the same day I called. I was worried about being “at the mercy of” (read: taken advantage of) by a small town auto service, with a vehicle known for expensive repairs. Animas was not only incredibly kind in working with my travel schedule, but managed to quickly find the source of the problem and repair it the same day, without charging me an arm & a leg for unnecessary parts/repairs. They went above and beyond to help me and even transport me to a local friend‘a house nearby to wait while the work was being done. I am incredibly grateful for their kindness, honesty, integrity and great service!!! 5 Stars!!!

We had car trouble at the end of a vacation in Durango and took our car to Animas Automotive. They had our car fixed same day and were at one point ready to hop in their own car and drive to NM for a part. It cost much less than we had expected. The staff worked fast and communicated well. Plus, they were welcoming and helpful as we descended on their office with two little kids and our dog. Great service, great value!

Terrible service took from 8 am to almost 2 for front brakes and a radiator! Knowing we were sitting at a rv park and had to leave park at 11 am.. not professional lunch was 12 to 1 we started trying to call 11:30 no one would answer phone!!

Very knowledgeable and honest...Ive taken my Land Rover here twice now, and both times I have been incredibly pleased. Just recently took it in for a misfiring issue, they very easily could have just replaced my plugs, wires and coils and called it a day ($800 job), but instead they took the time to check everything out and got me on the road again for SEVERAL hundred less than they quoted.

I was on vacation in Silverton and had a power steering pump fail. I wanted it fixed as quick as possible and when I called I was told to bring it in and theyd get it fixed. Sure enough, I get there and they get right on it. I was well informed about the progress and they worked on a couple of other concerns I had. I couldnt have asked for a better experience here. Dana was great to work with and I will definitely use him again and recommend Animas Automotive.

Dont even waste your time, waited for 6 hours in the lobby because they wouldnt drive me 3 miles back home. They told me I needed parts for my car that I wouldnt make it out of the parking lot, and come to find out its not the case

Animas Automotive is the right work at the right price! They are detail oriented and have your best interests at heart. They show that they want your business. They impressed me the first time I called them. After calling several other repair shops in the area trying to get a price on replacing my oil pan on my Jetta TDI, the first thing Chris asked was my VIN number. Wow imagine that! They actually wanted to make sure they ordered the correct part and gave me an accurate estimate! They have also replaced my rear brakes, timing belt, and fixed an antifreeze leak. They take time to explain your repair and make recommendations that make the most sense. On my antifreeze leak, they recommended just replacing some seals instead of the entire assembly which would have cost significantly more. Dana actually stood out in the rain to replace my air filter with me. He went the extra mile to add a special lubricant to the seal to make sure it fit perfectly. The attention to detail and doing it the right way really impresses me. Service I have not received anywhere else, dealer included. Thanks Animas Automotive!

This is the only shop in town I trust when it comes to getting work done on my VW. They are are always friendly and do whatever it takes to you back one the road. I highly recommend for any type of work on any type of car, truck or SUV.

Took my VW in after exhausting myself on an electrical issue, these guys didnt bs me, didnt try to get extra money, they fixed the problem and even helped me save some money. I recommend to everyone I know now.. Great job.

Bad doesnt even begin to describe this shop. We are another dealer that had them do a pre-purchase inspection and they missed everything. They did not even have the ability to have an intelligent conversation regarding their total lack in care and ability. The vehicle was leaking oil, you dont need to be a mechanic to see that it was. They even missed cosmetic damage. Look I took pictures of the car to show them and posted to their google page. In addition the car had a check engine light on.

THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER!!!!! We dropped off our VW Passat here because it was our only option in town for a mechanic that worked on Volkswagens. We dropped off the car and were told we would be contacted before any work was done. After having our phone number in their system wrong (three different times in three different spots) they finally contacted us a day later on the backup number we had given them. At this point they had completed all the work with the car without even notifying us of what they were doing. We would have absolutely gone somewhere else because of there exorbitant labor prices. After hey offered us not a single thing, even an apology, we were told to find another shop if we ever needed more work done. This shop is a bunch of dirtbags looking to screw you over for your money. Do not give them your business EVER.

I had a pretty stupidly bad experience here and ended up having to get my car towed to another mechanic. Broke down on the way to Flagstaff, AZ and saw this place on Google, needed the car to get looked at fast as I was planning to move out of my place in AZ that week. Called Animas, explained the situation and they said theyd have my car looked at that afternoon. Dropped it off, waited all day, called them and got no answer, so I went over there and was told by another employee it would take the rest of the weekend to get looked at. So now I had to pay for staying in Durango until they figured it out..After the weekend passed and not hearing anything new I called back, I was told it would take a few more days for them to check it out, meaning 4 days after I dropped it off to get looked at this afternoon the car had yet to be checked out. Ended up getting a rental car, drove back to flag and had my broken car transferred somewhere else. 0/10 would not recommend, this place sucks.

My college student daughter drove from Atlanta, GA to Dolores, CO in my diesel VW Golf. There was an issue with the glow plugs and the car would no longer start. She has been stuck without the car and Animas Automotive said it would take several days to get the parts and we could schedule the work in a week. Being very picky about 3rd party parts, I ordered the parts overnighted from VW and when they arrived I called to schedule the work. Animas Automotive refused to work on the car as I didnt purchase the parts from them. The person on the phone (Kent?) said that they make their money on the parts and labor and wont work on the car since I didnt buy the parts from them. Rather than make about $500 in labor and only $100 in parts they chose to leave my daughter stranded knowing the situation she is in. I find this reprehensible. At this point, even if they would offer to work on it, Id rather tow it the 180 miles to the nearest VW dealership.

Ok, First time I took my car there and said there was a leak and think it is oil. After beng there a verrrrrrrrrry long time with a 3 and a 1 year old. They come back with we think it is the steering colomn but not for sure but still took my money for inspection. They charge me and never found the problem. Finally my heat stopped working so I went to Honda in farmington. He showed me within a few minutes the hole in my radiator and it was bone dry. He said was not safe to drive home! I go back there to get a HID headlight fixed and said to the guy at the front Chris. Do you remember me ? He said, Oh yeah you are the one with the crazy kids. They are 3 and 1 . My 3 yr old was having melt downs and tantrums like any 3 yr old. My husband was not with me for 3 months at the time still trying to rent our house. Her daddy was not there to help me and by myself. I wanted to say Do you have kids? You have no clue! I finally talk to the owner and he tells well can you leave the car for 2-4 hours on a different day when we have a qualified technician to look at your headlight.! He finally calls someone that sends me across the street for the bulb. I go across the street and he said it is easy all I have to do is un hook the ballast and put the factory light buld in there since that is what he had in stock! 10 min that is what it took to fix my car. I told him the guy from honda said I just had to un hook the HID and put in manufacturer light bulb. He did not listen ! He said see this ballast it says high voltage which means someone can get injured unless qualified. Never going back again not even for a tire change. They have no clue and definitely not customer friendly especially with kids. How else will a 3 yr old act running into lunch time and nap time . We had been there forever. Oh you came in for an oil leak! I said any leak that is why I pay inspection for a mechanic to tell me where the leak is !

I recently had an alignment done on my VW Eurovan by one of those in-and-out tire shops that do alignments. They said they didn’t have the right tool to adjust the Camber. They charged me a partial rate. (turns out Animas Automotive did not have the wrench either – in the end, they used something else – hopefully it did not damage the bolt) I soon learned that this particular vehicle is finicky and clearly needs care by an experienced VW mechanic. I was then informed by a family mechanic that when I do get the Camber aligned, the toe and caster will need re-aligning…uuuggh . So I sought out a shop that claims to specialize in European vehicles – specifically VW – and was prepared to pay the price for a qualified shop for full and proper alignment. Animas Automotive assured me that they have worked on Eurovans and could take care of it. I reminded them of the camber issue when I made the appt and again when I showed up at 8 am. An hour later, the mechanic (who was great by the way) said I was ready to go but that the camber was not adjustable. Uuuugh. So I explained, directly to the mechanic this time, that, yes it is, it needs a specific type of wrench that is apparently not that common in shops. The two guys kind looked at each other, like ok lady – I don’t think so but…. Only then did they actually look up the specifications. Three hours later (for a total of four hours), they finally figured it out and wanted to charge labor for the first hour, even though they simply re-aligned the toe. I said that I would not pay for the first hour, as they did not do what I asked them to do: align the camber. They acted as if they were doing me a favor by knocking off that hour. They repeatedly tried to blame it on the vehicle and made a variety of other excuses. Then it took them 40+ minutes just to get me an invoice. In the end, I paid over $200 and the toe and the caster are more out of alignment then they were when I brought it in. Why is integrity such an absent quality in business anymore? I would of happily paid whatever the cost if they had just admitted that they messed up, they didn’t know what they were doing with this vehicle, and they’d learn form it and make it right. Instead they nod and smile and don’t really listen to the customer as they assume that we just don’t know what we are talking about. So now I am in over $250 and I still have a misaligned vehicle. I will NEVER go back to Animas Automotive.
