I’ve been coming here for years. You get all kinds of personalities and moods in people, but I was completely put back today by an associate (Gabe) who insinuated several times I was lying about the spray tanning machine not working. I went in there twice and only air came out. His attitude has been exceptionally unprofessional on this, and on other visits where I interacted with him. I give 3 stars because I have had a lot of positive interactions as well.
Planet fitness is better kept than this place. Weights are all over, not once have a seen an employee walk around to put things where they belong. Employees are obnoxious behind the desk acting like it’s high school lunch hour and can’t figure out how to switch a membership location for the life of them. It’s a free for all there.
For the price we pay on this gym.. why do we have broke equipment and broken treadmills?Everything there looks like it was bought from a play it again sports. We pay top price for this gym and you guys really just pocket all those monthly memberships into your pocket in stead of making this gym a better safer place
The facility is nice if you want a basic workout. Compared to other gyms, it is rather cheap to join while still having a variety of equipment, such as treadmills, weights and so on. However, I would be hesitant to sign up again or recommend XSport Fitness to a friend as Ive had better experiences with other gyms, such as Orangetheory. Canceling your membership was an obnoxious process and Im now stuck paying for a month of the membership that I cant use.
I lift weights, swim, run, and bike at least 5 days a week. I moved away over 2 years so I cant speak to the current conditions. However, after looking around in another big city at 4 different clubs, I have to say that the value in terms of volume and variety of amenities - pool, cardio, weight machines, group classes, sauna/steam rooms in the locker rooms - for $35/month cant be beat. None of the other advanced clubs Ive visited have Hoist Fitness equipment, a Marpo VLT rope trainer, Nautilus Glute Drive, or Rogue Pit Shark, for example. I will say though that the rowing machines needed to be upgraded. One of the things that really distinguishes a club to me is its cleanliness and XSport needed to work on that honestly. The pool was often dirty. It shouldve been shut down everyday between say 1 and 3 am to have a thorough machine cleaning, and not just on Thursdays. I think the bathrooms couldve been cleaner, especially the showers. I would have much preferred that the frosted green glass doors be repaired and that sliding locks be placed on em rather than be replaced with those grimy, moldy, useless shower curtains as was the case near the end of my time there. More free standing equipment cleaning stations in the aisles closer to the machines wouldve been an improvement too.Currently, I literally go to a gym that is across town and over twice as expensive with less useful equipment than a gym 20 minutes closer to home because the far gym has really clean water facilities (pool, steam room, shower, etc.). It matters that much.Still, I wish I had an Xsport in my area.
Bathrooms always filthy.. like think about it you have sprays for every machine that people still done use and clean after them.. wouldn’t it be smart to keep a couple bottles in the lockerrooms??! Oh and if your putting anything in the lockers always make sure to have the lock set. Caught an old dude going through my stuff the other day and he just acted confused.. happens again Further actions will be taken
Great gym but they have some stupid rule that there is no guests after 9 even if you pay for it.
Did i have some bad experiences? yes but my trainer was amazing and when i asked for a refund (for being falsely charged a couple months) they did refund me so changing my one star review to 5
Alex is an amazing manager. He helped me from the Batavia location and when I saw him again. He helped me with my switch as easy and painless as possible.
Great hydro massage beds. Two hot tubs.
This place has had broken spa equipment for weeks now. Every xsport I go to seems to have broken massage beds or sauna pods, and they never get fixed. At least I got a call for the issue at St Charles. But for this place, st Charles, and Lombard to all have broken spa equipment after putting 500 dollars into the best membership simply baffles me. This gym chain is less and less impressive with each location I visit.
Clean facilities.Great customer service! And to my surprise, they were not packed!
Best gym in the area. Staff is very nice
Im appalled by how low the ratings are here. Equipments are fully functioning and theres a spa area especially great for the pandemic on list of fun things to do. Spa referred to the tanning beds, sauna beds and such. Aside from the high turnover of staff who does not know what to do especially during medical emergencies, theyre fine. They sanitize the place every night.
Terrible lighting, feels like youre in a cave on the second floor where free weights and machines are. The place is overall very run-down like its been open for 30+ years with minimal maintenance. I thought the XSport on Roosevelt was pretty bad but its actually borderline nice compared to this dump. Pictures show the nasty looking cave ceiling and the first floor trip hazards all over.
Got a one day guest pass just to check the place out. Its far from where I live but the closest one to me did not have a (lap) pool. They also have a sauna. This place has more free weights than assisted weight machines, more suited for body builders than for health and fitness. Price-wise, its about the same as Planet Fitness, so the pools is an added feature, for the same monthly membership fee as a Planet Fitness black card. Unlike Planet Fitness they dont provide paper towels and disinfectant spray so, people can wipe the machines here after each use. This is an OK gym, but their lap pool vs a hydro massage bed at planet fitness? Since I wont be using the lap pool every day anyway, It is not enticing enough to sign up for a membership.
Nice gym good range of equipment and a pool which is a plus all for a very reasonable price.
Ive been a long time customer and enjoy the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi but since the pandemic began this place still not open these features, Im sure theyre trying to save money by not opening these areas, however theyre lifting masks restrictions if youre fully vaccinated, this means they want to drag more customers in but yet nobody knows within the company when these areas will be available for all customers I think is bogus
Very well-appointed facility. Spacious and never overcrowded. The staff is friendly, also.
My buddy takes me here all the time with his buddy pass. Great big gym and friendly considerate staff. Just wish they started opening up the hot tub already!
The spa area is very dirty and not kept up which is sad because it’s a big reason why I got a membership here. Also, I got a spray tan and the machine obviously doesn’t work because it stopped spraying halfway through.
I’m writing this review for those who never been in this location before. Two floors gym. First floor is all machine for cardio and running...Second floor is more for lifting weights and more cardio. they have spa, shower with towel service, lockers, pool, jacuzzi. over all is good but, only my complain is bathroom area stinks so bad and seems like they don’t care either. sad.
Best Gym in Chicago MetroHave pool, basketball court, super clean and friendly staff. Best Bargain.
Brandon was the sales rep, he was very rude employee refuses 7-day passes to some people and not other I have a membership at this gym but was treated with hostility
Everyone loves this fitness center
Good value gym with a pool and everything you can ask for. very much recommended.
Impressed with how clean the pool, showers and locker room (womens) are kept.
Defiantly a good big gym for a great basic membership price. Very glad to see that its back open 24 hours.
Decently clean but why are we paying full amount when the hot tub, sauna and steam room don’t work? I feel like that is a major reason why people upgrade is to get the workout, shower and sit in the hot tub or steam/sauna room just saying
Very Excited that they are open 24/7 again!
Best place to come and work out everything is excellent.....
$50 maintenance fee for what? Half the treadmills are always down, the punching bag is built for a kids boxing class.
All your properties are trash and falling apart, I suggest you use the rest of your budget renovating it.
Very clean, not crazy crowded
Zumba instructor Wendy is the best.. energetic choreographies that make you smile the hole time.
The front desk people do a good job greeting me every day I enter the gym, I started working out with a personal trainer there, big improvement on my fitness goals. Overall all of the personal trainers are approachable and awesome but also passionate about their clients and their goals. Every staff member does a great job sanitizing all equipment and bathrooms. If you truly want be a part of gym that has a friendly environment this xsport is the way to go!
Bathroom needs to be cleaned more often.
Lovely dobely
They are keeping it very safe from COVID.
If you WANT covid this is your place to go. They are doing basically nothing to protect the community. This place is a threat to the public.HOW IS IT THAT ALL OF THE EMPLOYEES HAVE TIME TO POST RECENT 5 STAR REVIEWS?? SHOULDNT THEY BE CLEANING?!
Dude was vaping next to me on the stationary bike.
Luxury gym love you so much looking for employment
Make sure if you go there speak to Brian. He was my salesman when I went there. Just like a lot of gyms lots of people are frustrated with what they think they are told the prices and then they are frustrated when they see what comes out of their account. The best recommendation is treated like a used car dealership get everything in writing make sure not to go too fast and most importantly dont sign anything if you dont understand. Brian was very honest and straightforward told me the exact price it was going to be and when I checked a couple days later my credit card was charged the exact price. I was so happy that I brought my wife over and bought a 2 year membership as well same thing everything went good with the purchasing of it. So I continue to bring more of my friends over and get them signed up this week. I have been to this gym before a few years ago and not really much has changed. My feelings is that it very clean and safe gym. For what youre getting for for the price I believe that you are getting a lot better amenities then what you are paying for. The biggest thing is that people must remember you are not paying 130 or $140 a month for this gym so dont expect marble and Gold Everywhere. Expect the clean facility with good at working equipment and good trainers. I will continue to go here but I thought that it was very important that there is finally a good review out there and that not all the salesman lie to you.
Not too crowded, nor ill equipped ;tis enough, twill serve.
It looks like they have hired a bunch of high school girls who do not have any basic communication skills. You greet your customers when you answer the call as well as before you hang up the call- youre talking to a customer so behave like a service provider. Do not give us the same attitude that you give to your boyfriends.
No one is wearing masks and there is no distancing. Why would a gym actively put members at risk?
Machines are out of date and some broken. Hot tub tile is chipping off. Told management over a year ago and still nothing has been done. Went there today and now the parking lot lights are turned off, which makes it feel unsafe. Im left with no choice but to consider canceling membership and going elsewhere.
Would be 5 stars but since they close at 9pm instead of being open 24hrs .
Front desk has no clue how to manage memberships and payments. Whatever the front desk says, sit down with a manager to double check or you will pay more than they say. Very dirty locker rooms about 50% of the time. They just need to clean more often. The equipment is always out of service as well. Not for days. For weeks.
Been with Xsport for two years recently moved found a closer gym went to cancel and the sales agents are very unpleasant rude when you let them know you want to cancel. Sales agent never processed my request after I filled out form with her . Therefore I got charged again even though I went 9 days before draft date called and my account shows no evidence of canceling thank goodness I took a picture of my form I filled with her. She never submitted form, they are quick to sign you up but cannot accept when a member leaves. Horrible service spent thousands of dollars in training over the two years and will never return .
Have been charged after the reopening with no emails sent to me regarding anything and havent been back since before covid. Also they arent open twenty for seven so its a pretty easy choice now to cancel and switch to somewhere else closer with the same equipment and now the same hours for a lower price.
Great some days. Nightmare others. Crowds are massive during peak hours be prepared to wait for any and all equipment. Gym and bathroom cleaning can be improved. Towels haven’t been available recently. Went over twice tonight about 30 minutes apart and was told they were out. Equipment is top notch. Staff is fine
The team is super friendly. I started using this facility about a year ago when I started a new job across the street. The staff has been awesome. Always clean, fully stocked and welcoming
Signed up for a week pass to try out the gym since I work here a lot and was considering a possible move to the area to be closer to work, the representative said I could try out a $20 day pass because I had an out of state license. No where on the website does it say it has to be not only an in state license but within a 10 miles radius of the gym. Maybe if your gym offered passes like what I tried to get, you would receive more positive attention than your average 3 out of 5 stars. Terrible. Don’t attend here.
Was very excited to get back to XSPORT after they re-opened July from Covid. After having four months to prepare, I was very disappointed. Every other equipment had a sign on it not to use with no thought involved as to what might be more popular or not. Just press already is more than 6 feet apart from one another and yet they still closed off two. Of 12 pieces of equipment I went to, two of them were broken. The first two treadmills I got onto, didn’t work either. Did it not occur to XSPORT to check this stuff out before slapping signs on them? Did it not occur having almost 4 months for them to remake repairs? In the two hours I was there I didn’t see one employee wiping anything down! And now they need to close early and have 12 hours overnight to maybe clean? Now I’m not sure why a water fountain wouldn’t be safe when you don’t have to touch it with your hands to use and it’s running water. But to turn them all off in the building and not have any other source of water? Obnoxious! Not looking out for the welfare of your members!
Clean, helpful staff, and plentiful equipment available.
Weights and lifting machines/ equipment are in good condition.Cardio equipment is top of the line but falling apart... Be careful stepping on to elypticals pedals were very loose on almost all machines.tv remotes are broken with exposed wiring on some machines and remotes are hanging by the cords. Not all but mostClosed captioning doesnt work on most TVs... If the remote or tv works at all.Staff is friendly and tries to be helpful but management needs to buy new cardio equipment or higher a better repair man.
Fav gym ! Check out my ig g9be !
Beautiful gym! The Spa as well, clean, all equipment working, all spa equipment is top shape! The Spa manager Suzy is so professional and nice! I highly recommend that spa!
I’ve been going here for years. I returned to this Xsport after it reopened due to Coronavirus. They had three months to prepare and no precautions were taken. Not a single person wore a mask into the gym. No equipment had been moved. They put signs on some of the equipment saying “machine not for use” but this didn’t stop people from using it or from sitting next to you on the equipment. As well they arbitrarily chose which equipment to mark not for use. They didn’t even consider trying to have the most popular equipment be available. The only change was a plexiglass shield for the front desk. They didn’t tell customers that lockers wouldn’t be available which means everyone brought their stuff into the gym and carried it around with them. So instead of the germs being in the lockers the germs are now spread all over the gym. This place is supposed to promote health and is clearly not concerned with providing a safe environment for its customers. They aren’t even doing the bare minimum of state requirements to re-open. I complained and told them I no longer felt safe but they refused to cancel my membership. I’ve filed a complaint with the BBB and alerted officials to the poor precautions taken due to COVID. Avoid this place like the plague.
This place is nosediving from what it used to be.The entire place needs maintenance and in general all staff are cocky and not customer friendly at all. It’s like they feel they themselves own the company and forget they are on payroll.Locker rooms smell real bad and floors are never clean. Management is always to blame. So here the lack of it is evident. For a full week they operated jacuzzi with electric wires tangled in patrons legs after spot lights came off and turned into floating lights.
I usually come here during week ends for some work out. Staffs were friendly and welcoming. Clean facility and there were signs on some machines that were under maintenance.
Signed up for the guest pass online. Would be super helpful if they had in writing that they won’t give that to out of towners.Definitely won’t consider joining somewhere I can’t try out.***the automated response from the owners account shows just how terrible this place is.
Facilities at Lombard needs some permanent employees. Way to many faces not knowing what they are doing. Problem for years
Great gym for variety of equipment. Terrible gym for cleanliness of equipment. Nice locker rooms, again terrible for cleanliness.#1 reason I come here is steam room, has not worked consistently in two weeks, no one seems to care on staff.Corporate non-responsive on any of the above issues. Anyone home?I love other locations, but this one leaves a lot on the table. Will not continue membership if this stays the case.
My boyfriend and I just joined a little over a month ago! We go 3 times a month and have gone around 3pm,6pm and 8pm and have never had a problem finding a machine to workout on! Connor gave us a tour before we signed up and he was very helpful. The staff has always been friendly and helpful! We tried the trail training with David and boy did we feel it the next day! David is a great trainer! I would highly recommend the Downers Grove location to anyone!
I’ve been at this gym for about a year and I have mixed views on it. The people are great but I think the higher ups making are poor decision makers who appear to be short sighted.2 standouts are Jerry and Charlie. I’ve been training with Jerry for over a year and he’s great. He knows his stuff and always mixes up workouts (I’ve never done the same workout twice). Charlie is the place’s saving grace. I had recently become fed up with how the place was run and when it came time to do the trainer reviews, I sat down with Charlie and expressed my grievances about the club. There are too many grievances to list but I appreciated Charlie listening to me and within a week he had already started to make changes. While no business is perfect, XSport does have people on the front lines who are passionate about fitness and want people to have a great experience. I’d recommend the company get more people like these guys into that decision making level so they can balance making money but also retaining value for your members.
Worst gym ever, all equipment is rusty or broken. Place smells like athletes foot. Everything is in terrible condition. A competing xsport could open up across the street and steal all the business easily. I did a trial here and Im glad I didnt waste my money. Will not come back.
Keep yourself fit. Nice fitness center. They have baby care for your kids, so you can do your workout. Fitness drinks. Garments and accessories store.
Awesome Place for Excercise................
Cant wait for my first interval training!!!
Hopefully I do not get a robotic response here... You guys took away an amenity, towels.... A bit frustrating... What’s more frustrating is XSport took away the most widely used method of wiping equipment off after I sweat... I know I know you have paper towels... well, I think you do? Every time I try to get some, so I can wipe down the equipment after I use it....empty! This is not just a once or twice situation... it’s almost every time I am here.... which, full disclosure... is often. For now at least. Get it together guys! People have options.... I loved this place. I am one of many loyal customers that are frustrated with the downhill trend here. Don’t take my word for it... blend in! go undercover, listen to what people are saying. While your at it refill the paper towels. Also I’m still waiting for my requested response to a complaint I filed a month ago... #thewalmartofcustomerservice
My favorite gym to go to. It has all the equipment I need for my workouts, there are classes to join, they have a swimming pool along with a hot tub, and a wet and dry sauna. I pay about thirty five for my membership. So I get to use all of the benefits along with going to any x-sport in the Dupage or Cook county area!
COVID UPDATE: The place is cleaner than it used to be but almost NO ONE wears masks, social distancing is encouraged by signs but no one is actually enforcing, same with masks. Some of the benches and machines have signs saying they are unavailable, members are disregarding those signs and using the equipment anyway. Personal trainers are wearing masks but then when you see them working out on their own time, they’re not wearing masks or even remotely social distancing. It’s pretty clear that this gym is just checking the boxes for safety, not actually taking it seriously. The staff is so rude. Most of them shouldn’t be working in a service position. The whole gym is dirty. Locker rooms, weights, basketball court, you name it. The place is PACKED between 4 pm and 9 pm. During peak volume you have to wait for almost any machine if you go in with a specific workout plan. Staff is always standing behind the counter doing absolutely nothing. 100% of the time they will finish their social time and make you stand there and wait after they just looked right at you.The only thing they have on other local gyms is the basketball court and pool. Went to UFC gym the other day to check it out and it’s SPOTLESS. Staff was super nice and inviting. I’ll be going there at the end of the year.
Amazing facility, with the worse front desk group of people. Every week, is an excuse as to why I cant get my protein shake made. Ignored by staff completely.Doesnt help that theyre sitting around while captivated by their phones. Do your job...
Nice facility, great staff
Great atmosphere and clean..
I like the variety of equipment they have and everything. Plenty of varieties of exercise equipment and everything. That being said, there are definitely some maintenance issues here. Almost none of the machines that use weights have pins to lock the weights onto the bar/machine. Several pieces of broken equipment that probably wouldnt be if they had paid attention to wear and tear.Multiple safety hazards inside unrelated to equipment.
Good variety of equipment, services, and other amenities. I prefer this location for the pool access and the good customer services Ive been given. My only gripe would be the cleanliness of the locker rooms leave a lot to be desired. If you go early in the morning, its no issue, the evening/afternoons are pretty rough though.
Its a good gym for the price. The only unfortunate part is that its equivalent in Naperville has much better equipment. They recently revamped their grass area and put in a new powerlifting area with Olympic weights and bars. Really hoping downers grove can catch up and do the same. Otherwise Id recommend going to Naperville.
I take X-it classes and loving them! Was so nervous to go to a new gym but Im loving the atmosphere (Downers location) and trainers. People in the X-it classes are SO nice too!
Manager Charlie runs a clean gym friendly front staff and working equipment
One of the best gyms ever! The General Manager is awesome, the staff is awesome so glad I joined. And the Spa area you have to see for yourself it has it all including tanning and a hair salon, with so much more. I would give it a 10 star if I could. Very clean plenty of towels go see for yourself!
Theres a young lady in the front shes so rude
Great gym with good working hours. However, few things that should be improved. Please pay more attention to places like sauna - it is very very dirty under the benches there. Also, I am a bit disappointed as they did everything to signed me in but not all the fees were explained properly. This landed some frustration when I got some unexpected charges.
The gym is great but some of the employees are rude and shouldnt interact with people
The place is clean big has lots of amenities like a lap pool.
Honestly it’s not a bad gym, the equipment is really good. The only downside to this gym is they don’t invest much time in cleaning the locker room and quite frankly it can be very disgusting at times.
The overall quality of this gym is the best that I have visited, in the X Sport franchise and otherwise. The attractive, younger members make for an atmosphere that is conducive to getting in shape. The people at the front desk are warm, the locker room and equipment are well maintained and you can play basketball as well as swim any time of day. I have not been working in the area for a few years so this review is a bit tardy but I hope that the facility is still how I remember it.
I have been a member for almost 10 years now. Overall I like this place however more and more machines are breaking down as they are getting older. Frustrating part is most of these machines are not being fixed in a timely manner. I have reported stair master and bikes not working properly multiple times. Hopefully we can expect new machines soon. Staff is friendly in general but Frankie (Francis) is amazing. She takes great pride in her work and is always willing to go the distance. She is extremely proactive in helping guests. All in all I recommend this club for its expanded offerings. AJ
Like all the locations. This is current favorite.
I have been a member of X-Sport for over 20 years. For the last 15 years or so, I have paid a monthly membership, which allows me to use most of the X-Sports in the greater Chicagoland area.My credit card was compromised several months ago, so I obtained a new one from my credit card company. I failed to update my credit card with XSport, so was prompted to do so when I visited the Downers Grove, IL. location in the middle of February. I gave the attendant my new credit card, and was told I would get charged as I had been getting charged previously for the last 15 years or so. However, upon receiving my credit card statement from February, I noticed two charges from XSport (one from Downers Grove, and one from Lyons). (I used to reside by Lyons, IL. and started off at that X-Sport location). For years, my monthly fee was documented as “XSport Lyons-CKFR” plus the fee on my credit card statement. For the month of February, I noticed that charge, AND a charge of the same amount from “XSport Downers Grove.” So, I decided to call the Downers Grove location, and straighten this out.Upon calling, I was put on hold, and eventually disconnected. Confused, I called back. I was again met with silence, and stated “Hello, is anybody there?” I was met with “Hold on-I’m checking.” This seemed odd, as there was no formal greeting as is the case in all customer service calls. I stated how I was charged twice, and the manager, Frankie, stated she only saw one charge on my credit card, and there was nothing she could do. Confused, I stated again I had two charges, and tried to explain how I had been using the same membership for years, and should only be charged once. Again, she stated in a curt tone there was nothing she could do. (She told me I could wait and see if the charge went away on my credit card, but to no avail, I was unable to explain successfully how the transaction in question was not pending, but authorized per my statement). Frustratingly, I asked “Should I come in to get a resolution?” and was again met with a dismissive statement that I could do so, but there was nothing she could do, and that I should call XSport’s Corporate Offices. I stated in exasperation that I indeed called Corporate, and waited 30 minutes the day before, and around the same time that day, and could not get a hold of anybody in those offices. So, again, I asked “What do I do? I can’t get a hold of anybody?” She stated very dismissively “Corporate.” So, in exasperation, I decided to call my credit card company in order to get a resolution to this matter. There is no reason for XSport to treat their customers like this. Basic customer service should be something that employees of XSport follow, not dismissively treating their customers as if they are being bothered by them when there is an area of concern. I was at fault for not updating my credit card with XSport after the old one on file was compromised. However, I was treated rudely, and don’t know why. I have paid a lot of money to XSport over the last twenty years, and am wondering if it is even worth it anymore if this is the way their customers are treated when there is an issue of note. (I had a similar issue with XSport several years ago, and am beginning to think this is their standard business practice).(UPDATE) Jessica, and Kelly Cartwright (Lewis) director of Customer Service, reached out to me. I talked to Jessica on the phone, as she was extremely helpful in enabling me to understand my charges, and in agreeance that the customer service exhibited was not at all appropriate. (She even credited me a free month). Both individuals are very professional, and helped me to resolve my matter. I greatly appreciate them getting back to me in the manner and time they did. True professionals.
I am the member of this gym for more than last one year at the time of joining they forced me to join for the exclusive membership which I did and at the time of cancellation they were not only rude but the manager just ran away saying have a good day he didnt answer my question. extremely rude
Very nice gym and equipment but be careful when you sign up I was scammed into paying for an extra service I never wanted and I made that very clear that I was not interested in anything besides the gym membership.Update: I sent another e-mail to the corporate office a few days ago and still have no response. I have tried resolving this issue through the company through phone calls and e-mails with no luck. Very disappointed in this company and their actions to loyal customers.
Great place to work out, if you visit in the afternoons prepare to alter your routine. The gym is packed after 4PM. The free weights section is pretty much inaccessible at this time but if you are flexible with your workouts you wont have any problems.
The facilities have to be much cleaner there has to be more sanitizer dispensers the staff dont clean down the the weeknds theres newspapers in the steam room we found a beer can in the steam room
Great place to work out and friendly staff
