My experience with this location has been pleasant and professional. Pick up and drop was fast. When I called concerning a tire issue with my rental, it was handled immediately. Upon return the supervisor/manager (sorry forgot your name) she apologized for the issue I had. Thank you for your great service and professionalism.

I had a really great experience with Hertz at this location. I’d like to recognize both John and the manager Krystal for assisting me with my rental. These awesome employees were very nice and helpful. Many reviews says otherwise. These people are human beings and deserve to be treated with respect, manners, and patience. They are willing to work with customers so give them a chance to do their job. I came with the intention that a car may not be ready at time of pick up but they honored my reservation and all I waited was 10 mins, seriously not that long of a wait, just be patient. I do however wish Hertz had a better reservation system that allows you to lock in and secure a rental but due to the nature of cancellation and no-show, the system allows for more bookings than available rentals and I get why Hertz sometimes run out of cars. Let these folks help you out the best they can and always have a back up plan is all I’m saying. Aside from all, the small SUV I rented was clean and in perfect condition, no problem at all. The store was also clean and Covid-19 safety measures were taken. Again, thank you John and Krystal for being fantastic! You deserve to be recognized for your work in satisfying customers. I will definitely be a returning customer should I need to rent a car soon again.

Car RESERVATIONS mean NOTHING at this place!I had a rental reservation for 5/21/21 for a medium size SUV. I arrived at my scheduled time. NO CAR AVAILABLE.The 2 other customers behind me in line were told the same, NO CARS AVAILABLE even though all 3 of us had a RESERVATION.From the moment I walked in to the moment I left, I would say it was the WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I have encountered.First there was a long line, and several disgruntled customers complaining that they had been waiting in line for over an hour.By the time it was my turn, the boy behind the counter said they have NO CARS LEFT. I asked him how this could be possible? I had a RESERVATION.He just said they are short staffed and to call customer service. I asked him if he could call a different Hertz to see if he could find me a car. I had a reservation for a REASON. I NEEDED A CAR. The boy refused to help me by calling another Hertz.I was awed how unwilling the staff there was to help me find a car as it was their fault for not having a car available for my RESERVATION. I was more than willing to drive to a different Hertz location and get a car.I called customer service since the staff at the location refused to help me. I talked to some one in India and had communication issues. I decided to cancel my reservation and go elsewhere. Very frustrated that I had to scrabble to find a different car same day at a much higher price!HERTZ, next time at least be a little empathetic when you cant keep a RESERVATION.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Reserved rental car online with them received a confirmation number and went there to pick up the car. Upon arrival they told me that they didn’t have a car for me I asked why, their reply was, that happens sometimes. Great way to run a business don’t you think 🤔

Horrible company and people people to deal with. We were told we would charged one price and never told about an additional charge for adding a driver. Charged us 50% more than the estimated charge. Talked to store manger and nothing, call customer service and was told managers are not taking calls. This place is a joke!

I am definitely not going to rent a car from here. I call ahead of time and talked to a guy and specifically asked if I came at 3:30pm would there be any cars to choose from and he said yes. Well guess what I got there at 3:30 and all they had was a Ford Fiesta. Im 6 foot 3, I cant even drive that car from the back seat. Technically he didnt lie cause there was one, but seriously. All he had to do was ask a couple questions to see what I needed, but he couldnt even do that. I think COVID-19 messed up peoples ability to use even basic common sense.

I will never rent from this location again. Called the day of my reservation and confirmed my pickup time, only to get there and wait over an hour. The first vehicle the gave me had a radio that didnt work. This was after waiting 20 mins. Then I came back to the location and waiting another 20 mins for a new vehicle. What I dont understand is how a vehicle wasnt ready, even though my reservation was clear, and then how was it not obvious there was an issue with the vehicle. Then after returning the vehicle, I left an item in it, which took me 3 days of calling before they claimed it wasnt there and the vehicle was rented back out. No customer service and poor communication.

I booked my rental car through Priceline for this Hertz location, and received a confirmation number for both the Hertz reservation and the Priceline reservation. My pick-up time was at 1pm for a 3 day rental of a Mid-Size SUV.I called them at 12:52 to let them know I was going to be late because my tow truck hadnt picked me or my car up yet. I asked if there was anything that I needed to do, and the woman that I spoke with was pleasant and told me not to worry, they were open until 5pm, and I could just come in.The tow truck did not pick me up until 4pm. I called Hertz, from the tow truck to let them know that I was on my way, but it would be close to 5pm. The woman that I spoke with this time, told me that they didnt have a reservation for me, and when I told I had a confirmation numbers, and that I had called, she stated that they only hold cars for 2 hours. I repeated that I had called, she asked me to hold. She came back about 5 minutes later, and told me that she asked everyone in the office and no one remembered having that conversation, and that there was nothing she could do, she didnt have any cars. She didnt even ask for my reservation/confirmation numbers (honestly, neither of them did-lesson learned on my part).I have no rental car. The tow truck driver was at least kind enough to drive me home. I do not recommend this location.

Awful experience. Employee (John G) showed up exactly at 9 when store opens and reservation was made weeks prior. Myself, along with 4 other customers all there at 9 were all told there are ZERO, yes ZERO, cars available for rental. Even though every customer had reservations made weeks prior. I even called a week prior to confirm everything was all set. John G claims he tried calling everyone (the day of reservation) mind you when its 9am and hes not even at the store yet to read a list of names to call, hows that even possible???? Also claims that myself and every other customer there couldnt be called because they didnt have phone numbers for any customer!!! John wasnt very professional and just said I dont know what to tell you, we dont have any cars. John said give him 10 mins to see if he could find a car from somewhere else (who knows where) and never once received a follow up call, when my phone number was given to him personally at the location.Stay away & dont risk the start of your trip/vacation being interrupted by not having a car that YOU RESERVED, unavailable with no answers/fixes given

The employees here get abused a lot by customers. But I think it’s because they’re understaffed, and their current staff is burnt out. Hertz, man up and stock your store with happy and prepared employees. The store cannot run well without them. I was here on Monday, 4/12, and the gentleman who works next door came in and raised his voice at the employees because of how full the lot was, as well as two very upset customers. It just isn’t working here. Address the situation.

In this day of covid this place is not properly cleaning their cars. I rented a car yesterday the keyfob doesnt lock the doors and the inside of the front window is extremely dirty all issues that you would expect from your own car not a car your paying to rent. Lets not speak on the fact that I have been calling since 8 am periodically and no one seemed to be able to answer until 430 what type of customer service is that the 800 number is no better either I was on hold for 45min and decided to just hang up.

Syed helped me out last week.. he was great! Very patient & helpful..I’m appreciative of that!! Now today, the manager Ariel (not sure if she really is) however was extremely rude. She was not friendly and gave me a very hard time extending my rental. I ended up having to call from the parking lot ... Thankful Hertz customer service was excellent at assistancing. & huge thanks to Hertz Glendale Heights for seeing it through and swapping out my vehicle. It was worth the longer drive :)

Extremely disappointing, do not recommend. The store called to inform us, less that 24 hours from our pick up time, to let us know that our WEEK in advance reservation was cancelled due to a high demand in cars. Is that not why we book reservations? To AVOID issues such as this? The day before we were to leave with our 2 kids and dog, I not only needed to finalize packing, but then worry about another car. They would not even work with us to find another car or even offer another type of car! Told us we had to! Also, charged our card for the entire car rental, but said it will take 7-10 business days for the reimbursement. HERTZ IS RIDICULOUS. Never again.

Worse place to rent from they have call me 4 times saying that I have not returned the rental when I returned it 2 days ago. Than they have a sign on the door stating this place closes at 1:00pm So now the guy I spoke with argues with me stating we close at 12:00pm on Saturday but that’s not what google or your door say! Who argues with a customer. O not to mention the 800- number sent me to Oakbrook to return the car and they have not been open in months the guy from Marriott hotel said smh a big company like this not friendly or organized

I had a state farm claim, so I went to pick up a car, but service was terrible, waited more than an hour and the older man at front desk, I asked him a question and was very rude and with no human relations at all, its not customers fault if they got a bad day, the insurance pays for the rental otherwise i wouldnt comeback for anything.No selection of cars, very small inventory.

Absolutely the worst run hertz I have ever been to. Everytime I rent from this location there is a problem finding my reservation or supplying me with the vehicle class I had rented. I usually rent every 3 weeks from this location for work, but after about 4 months of continuous problems here I will no longer rent anymore. Apparently everyone at this locations is a manager including Krystal and Billy who both need additional training in customer service, flat out told me I didnt have a reservation and no vehicles were availabe today. Same story but even worse than usual as NO rentals are availabe today. Please shut down this location or restaff and retrain them!

There was a representative named SYED.He was so helpful and did his job. Unlike JOHN who was very rude and unprofessional.SYED Deserves a raise I would rent again from Hertz just because of SYEDS service.You dont find great service any more but SYED did a very wonderful job.JOHN on the other hand was very rude and unhelpful.He didnt want to try and get a car,he was just like you have to have this and this otherwise I cant help you.Get rid of this old guy.

1 star is Too Many... If I could give ZERO stars I would....Everything went downhill when I tried to actually pick up the vehicle I rented and paid for through the online reservation... Hertz has a systemic failure of advertising rental cars they apparently do not have. I reserved and paid for a vehicle online from Hertz the evening before taking an Uber to their offices where, upon arrival I was told Sorry, there are no cars available and we tried to call you three times.The Hertz mgr denied having ANY vehicles available at their location OR any other locations (that might actually HELP me out as I was standing there in the car rental place)....though I overheard them confirming car rentals w others on the phone - when I inquired they said oh, they booked their rental last week.There was not one ounce of remorse from the Hertz manager that I had traveled to their location and all my plans just unraveled because Hertz did not live up to its end of the agreement. I even informed the lady that Hertz was still advertising rental cars online while I was looking for a replacement vehicle in their store. With a stone cold face she denied being able to do anything about that and returned to calling people to notify them Hertz was canceling their rental vehicles orders. (I informed her as one might think it would be of interest to nip the problem in the bud.)The other Hertz rep told me he just is used to people yelling at him all day?!?! huh?! What kind of a job is that… and why would you want to work somewhere you get yelled at all day by angry customers because you continually cancel their orders?! (I also contacted their corporate customer service to voice my complaint. However, the person I spoke with had such a thick accent he could not understand me nor could not communicate effectively so I gave up as Hertz isn’t worth my time.)The flip side of this review is that I ended up contacting Enterprise Rental Car (on Cass in Westmont) and Boy, did they come thru for me!!! No cars were left in their lot except one.. and they pulled some strings to ensure that I was able to rent that vehicle and make it to my oral surgery that day!The Enterprise reps treated me very graciously though I explained I was in a pickle because I had gone to their competitor (instead of keeping my Enterprise reservation as I should have!) as I explained what occurred. Lesson learned for sure! Regardless, the Enterprise reps were GREAT! I enjoyed speaking with them - it was like I was hanging out with my friends! and they made every effort to accommodate me such as asking if I would like a chair while I was waiting for my Uber, opening doors when they saw I was struggling with them and waiting for me to write things down after I couldnt speak with my oral surgery. Everyone I met there was so nice and they all had smiles on their faces! They were involved with the customers and I could tell from the interaction with other customers that they were going the extra mile to accommodate them. They sure did that for me when they located that last vehicle on Thursday morning or I would have been completely screwed as the Hertz employees did absolutely nothing. I can tell you that I will surely not forget what superb and outstanding service I received from Enterprise which is why the next time I rent a car and the time after that – and after that and on and on… it will always be from Enterprise.

Rented a vehicle and waited 30 minutes for them to get/find it. I was asked about fueling the vehicle, I told them I would do this because their gas was $9.99 per gallon. The charged me $42.13 for them to refuel it. Not good service, I won’t be going there again.

Pretty good experience with renting a car here through State Farm insurance. It was super easy to make the reservation on the phone. I requested a pick up from the mechanic but when I called, the employee was honest with me and told me that they could not pick me up at the time requested. At least I knew to get a ride and not wait around!! Pick up and drop off were fairly quick.

They rented us an unsafe car. It was a toyota 4runner but the brakes were very bad on the car. Car needed alignment too. And fuel pump was going out. Not worth it. The cars they rent out are not inspected properly. There was damage to the windshield.

This is definitely a place you want to avoid. Tony Brown is someone you do not want to have attending you. I woke up to a flat, had a 2 hour wait the previous day to get it serviced and when I go pick up my new car I ask him “can I a free upgrade for the inconvenience of having to come down here?” I believe it was a fair question but he gives me a nasty tone and acts as if I had a flat tire on purpose and dismisses me in the meanest way possible.It took me entirely to get my car about an hour to get my new car. My previous car had a transponder to pay for tolls, my new car did not. I told Tony I wanted a car with a transponder so that I didn’t have any issues with tolls, he tells me no that it was not possible. Not to mention that I was downgraded on my car. I took the car they gave me, passed through a toll without a transponder and guess what? I got billed $26 for the toll for their convenience fee. The same thing I feared but Mr. Brown did not care and was very disrespectful throughout the ordeal. I will NEVER do business here again, I could see why Hertz is going bankrupt. If I could I would rate this place 0 stars, I would, it is complete and utter trash.

I usually use Enterprise, but tried Hertz cuz it had an unusually good deal. Booked online, rental process went smoothly although it seemed like the original car I rented wasnt available. The agent didnt harass me excessively on buying protection/insurance like some other (Enterprise) places. I arrived at Hertz few minutes before 1pm to return on a Saturday and they had already closed! Was pretty upset but the manager (Aaron) at the back instructed me to drop the keys in the keydrop box.Was very frustrated stressed out over the weekend worrying about the safety of the car and possible extra-day charges due to the printed note if you are returning to a location that is closed all charges will continue to accrue until the location re-opens for business. Oh man.On Monday I promptly received the e-receipt and to my pleasant surprise there were no extra-day charges nor the common scam damage-charges. Special thanks to the manager (Aaron), Hertz scores one above Enterprise for now!

This is the absolute worst company I’ve ever dealt with for ANY transaction. The staff is beyond rude, clueless, confrontational and treats their customers terribly. And they don’t even care. I would 100% avoid this location all together. Trying to communicate with their front desk staff is literally impossible as they just talk over you with their attitude. Avoid avoid avoid avoid.

Our pick up was over a hour late! Then when I was actually picked up the agent proceeds to tell me some lies about why he was late. Then he proceeds to open his breakfast that he clearly went to get instead of picking me up. He drove us back to the office eating while driving the entire way. He saw I was very frustrated and basically just gave me the keys to a car. He did not ask me what car I wanted, if I wanted insurance or even told me how much it would be. I tried calling in and talking to the manager but evertime I would call he answered and refused to transfer me to the manager. Last time I will ever rent from that office!

Be very careful when dealing with Aaron at this location. He likes to make money on the gasoline policy. I apparently didnt notice that the outgoing mileage on my rental was understated when I picked up the car, however I always take a photo with my cellphone before I leave the lot. I also take a photo when I bring it back. The photos show the date, time, mileage and gas gauge level for both dates. Aaron charged me for gas I didnt use, and then told me it was because I admitted I didnt put gas in the car before I brought it back. I did not put gas in the car before I brought it back because I drove it a total of 8 miles. Aaron charged my credit card for $8.50 which isnt a large sum to me, but if that happens on many rentals, Aaron looks like a genius to his company.

Coulda been 5 stars but it took OVER an hour to receive a car - and I had a reservation. The check out mileage that I noticed when I was over 2 miles away was still off by 30 (in their favor) and the full tank of gas noted on my contract was only at 5/8ths with huge markup if I didnt return it with the same amount as at checkout. There were two people at the counter. The one I did NOT get to do my rental, checked in and out at least seven or eight people while the new girl struggled to just get me out of there in 60 plus minutes. She was very sweet, she was just a new girl, or so it seemed since the more experienced person had to keep helping. interrupting her flow to help my girl.

Was there to switch a car I got at OHare that had issues... The lady at the counter was alone, and a queue of customers in front of her. At some time she disappeared and was vacuuming something in the back. I Left after 5 minutes and went to another location. Cannot recommend renting here on a weekend. 1 Star is for the Lady at the counter who I suppose was doing her best to fulfil all the customers wishes...

Let me just start by saying, Hertz wasn’t our first choice in car rentals but after today’s experience I will choose Hertz every single time! There was a few speed bumps but we made the reservation last minute, with the wrong location and we were still able to pick up and drive away in a very clean well kept vehicle. Erin at the Downers Grove location is an amazing. I called and had 21+ questions and he answered every single one without hesitation! Even after all the speed bumps he managed to solve it and make it a great experience! Hertz in Downers Grove will be getting my business from here on out! Fast, easy, and an overall 5 stars!

Our son was in a car accident, needed transportation and had never rented a car before. He was unfamiliar with the tricks that rental companies play. In spite of the fact that he was fully insured under a family policy, they told him that he needed a PDW to cover him if he totaled the rental car. He accepted and then when we returned the vehicle, we were hit with a $235 charge. Total BS. I wrote to the parent company and voiced my displeasure. The electronic survey was smart enough to detect my displeasure, and it asked if it was ok to contact me via email to get more information. Have not heard from them. All rental companies are the same - mostly good but when they see a target they go right after it. This place is a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Set up an appointment with hertz for my car rental 2 days in advance. Repair shop was 0.6 miles away on the same road. It took them 30 minutes to pick me up, and then another 40 minutes in the hertz store - with no other customers there. The first car they gave me needed an oil change. The second car was dirty and needed to be cleaned. A giant waste of time for something that should have taken 10 minutes. It should be noted that enterprise was able to send two other customers out and on their way from the repair shop in the time that it took for them to pick me up. Dont waste your time with hertz. I know I wont.

Thoroughly dishonest when questioning why we were only being offered a sub-compact vehicle instead of what we reserved and paid for (mid size suv). Upon complaining low and behold a mid size suv 8 cars away in the car park was offered but no apology, in fact the owner was confrontational. Had a reservation set for this morning. Upon arrival, I was told they had nothing in size reserved due to two vehicle being involved in crashes. I said to do like others and upsize to next vehicle size - I have to get to work!!! Was told Id have to pay for the upsize. Enterprise and others do not do that. I argued against that and they contacted some manager at another location - delay, delay, delay. Id still have to pay and I would have to travel numerous miles to retrieve an available vehicle. Really? There happened to be three vehicles sitting out front with plates from other states. No, those were for other, later reservations so I couldnt have them and would have to pay more and travel much further to get a vehicle.Horrible service and untrained employees. Not their fault.In the end, I went to Enterprise in Westmont who took care of me (as always) and I was on my merry way. Just a note: when I went to Enterprise two weeks ago for a rental and the size vehicle I had reserved was not available; what did they do? They put in in the next larger size vehicle for same cost as vehicle reserved, which happened to be a much larger vehicle - a Ford F150 pickup truck. Go to Enterprise, youll be happier.

Bad bad service.. u should avoid going to this particular Hertz .. u will be treated like u r the lucky one if u get a car from here.. service guys are pathetic.. using same car for a month now, asked him to add third party insurance in same contract, he cant do it.. he says u need to get new contract to add new insurance component but he cant issue new contract because the car I m using cant be given back to u once ur current contract is closed.. means I need to take different car and they dont have any other car to issue me.. so what actually he wants is I should keep using this car forever until u want to end the service with them... I am driving with insurance risk because of these people attitude.. this is last time I using this Hertz branch service..

Worst service ever. The lady at the front desk insisted that they didnt have any vehicles available and I already called ahead and reserved my car. I had to call another location to have them look it up WHILE I was I front of her in order for her to put forth the effort to actually press a key on her keyboard. After all that she managed to let me ride off in a rental that wasnt even registered . This is a horrible representation of an otherwise decent company. I really hope someone e gets their act together and restaffs this location
