Stephanie was absolutely a dream to work with. She was so understanding and I could tell she really wanted to give me what I envisioned. She asked questions and explained what she was doing to my hair. I felt so at peace and confident when she was coloring my hair. She was easy to talk to and extremely nice. I haven’t had great experiences at other salons but with Stephanie I cannot wait to return and have her do my hair again!!

I really enjoyed the way Lucy cut my hair. She did a fantastic job on my bangs, exactly what I wanted. I went in for a quick touch up a few weeks later and the guy cutting my hair completely messed up what she did :(

I had a terrible experience at Fringe. I went in for a haircut with their stylist Trent. Right from the start he seemed in a hurry. Their website claims Each appointment begins with an extensive consultation to understand your vision and work with your at-home styling routine Trent spent less than a minute talking with me about what I wanted and spent zero time discussing my at-home styling routine. I tried showing him pictures of some looks that I liked and he said he understood, but as the cut progressed it became clear he did not understand at all. During the cut I tried again to explain the soft, layered look that I was hoping for but Im not a hair stylist so I dont always have the vocabulary to express what Im trying to say. Trent was no help, all he said was I dont have time to give you seven different hair cuts. During the cut he was more intent on telling me his opinion about how every client thinks their hair is special and unique but a hair dresser has seen it all and no one is special. I knew I was in trouble when he started saying things like hair grows and making jokes about wearing a wig. I went in hoping to walk out with a cut that I loved. Instead I walked out with a haircut that I was indifferent about at best, and the feeling that I had wasted this stylists precious time. Not the experience I was hoping for for the $70 it cost. I gave this review two stars because he clearly does have skill, but his lack professionalism and care for a new client left me with a haircut that made me feel ugly and an experience that made me feel unwelcomed and unvalued.

Stephanie did an amazing job on my balayage, cut and blow out! Not only is she extremely talented at doing hair but she was so much fun to talk to. Highly recommend seeing her if you are looking for a touch up or big hair change!

Molly is one of the ONLY hair stylist who can get my black hair platinum blonde every time! She is quick, professional, and just an all around great stylist!!! 100% recommend :)

I have become a regular here because the cut is always stylish and the ambience in pleasant. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait but it is always worth it.

Alyssa is great and always makes my hair look amazing. I trust her and thats a big deal. She gives great advice on hair color and cut.

Would be 5 stars (Elyse is wonderful and the only person in the world I trust to do my hair) but need to work out the kinks in their new back-end systems to give more timely reminders to customers about appointments.

Its always a real nice cut, for a few bucks more with tip than other average decent salon. Mens was 50 I think. Very kind too

Stephanie has been cutting hair professionally for over 13 years and works with each persons individual style, shapes, and textures. I had very long hair and Ive been waiting for a good cut since the shut down 7 months ago. I went in and told Stephanie what I was looking for and gave her free rein to do what she needed to clean my hair up (I gave myself my last hair cut). I left feeling refreshed and like I made a new friend. Thank you!

I just had a pedicure here and it was amazing!!! Irene did such a great job and really took her time taking care of my toes. I was offered coffee or water when I sat down in my pedi massage chair which was also higher quality then what I am used to at salons. Everything is clean and organized and you definitely get your moneys worth for your services. They were also very understanding when I messed up by appointment time for the first time. lol Thanks Fringe! Ive had a haircut here as well and that service was great too =]

I recently received a haircut with layers and when I got home I noticed that they were very uneven. My hair was butchered here.

This salon is amazing and in no small part is it due to Alyssa. She was so professional, gave constructive recommendations, talked it out with me about my cut/style, and made me very comfortable. She was also very open about her life and a variety of different topics while she worked. The cut was AWESOME as you can see. She was detailed and truly cared about my opinion, checking in to see how I felt about length in certain parts. She even does complimentary bang touch ups between cuts! Im totally going back next week for my color and most likely for my future cuts.

I made an appointment - you have to give your credit card info in the case you dont show up. And then you get a couple text reminders and confirmation. The salon is above the optometrist office and Aveda. Its very clean and spacious inside. I saw Cynthia since I had heard she can cut Asian hair. I showed her a couple pictures and asked for subtle layers. She gave some recommendations and communicated everything she was doing with my hair, which I appreciated. It cost $58 including tax. Lovely space, nice atmosphere, and welcoming staff. I got the best facial Ive ever had (by Susan). I was so relaxed by the end, I needed a few minutes to peel myself off of the bed.

I had a long-time hair stylist, Dineen, cut my long, curly hair at Fringe in Chicago. She is not only a hair dresser, but she is an artist. The way she got to understand and shapely cut my hair, within 10 minutes of meeting me, is a skill I have never seen before. She is fantastic, unique, and gives flawless haircuts. She cares about your hair on an individual basis, understands how hair works at its best, and her time is worth every penny.

I would have paid money NOT to have this haircut. I came in with specific instructions: lightness in my fringe, styled according to pictures I brought in. The problem was not that my stylist didnt listen to me, it was that she didnt have the skills to make it happen. During shampooing she splashed water over my face, then jammed her fingers painfully into my ears with a towel. She put a cape on me by crumpling up my collar into a little roll, then tying the neck loosely on top of it. I spent ten minutes in the bathroom wiping hair off my back and from inside my bra. The styling and cutting itself was a disaster. Fringe came out choppy. My entire scalp is waxy from too much product. Pieces of hair on the side of my head stuck out at a ninety-degree angle during blow-dry, and stayed that way after ironing. When I pointed this out, my stylist tried to straight-iron everything down, basically undoing all the curling work done previously. A scarecrow would have looked more glamorous.I think my stylist meant well and I wasnt going to leave a review here, but Dawn, the owner, made every effort to make it seem like this disaster was a miscommunication. When I requested a refund, she told me that she was busy with other clients. Lets wait and see what happens next.

This salon has such a great location in the heart of Wicker Park. The environment is fun and friendly. I have had my hair done there for several years and I always leave feeling amazing! The spa and nail services in the spa are top notch. They are the absolute best at nail art. I would 100% recommend this salon to everyone.

I have followed Patrick to a few salons. So his technique and capabilities are no mystery to me. He is an artist with cut and color. He makes you feel like a shiny new penny when you walk out the door. I have also had the privilege of seeing Michael at work and I think he is excellent at what he does as well. I think the salon is very professional when I come in and they take care of me right away (and pleasantly). Knowing Patrick and Michael from prior salons, they take their work seriously as well as their work environment. It is no surprise to me that the rest of the people at Fringe would be just as pleasant and good at what they do.Id also like to point out that the products at the salon are excellent as well. They have a great selection of Dermalogica, which can be hard to find in Chicago.

Came here with groupons for a cut, color, and style as well as an eyebrow shaping and tint. The place itself is spacious and clean and very comfortable. Both the stylist and esthetician were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I really liked this place, definitely recommend!Street parking, wheelchair friendly, close to public transportation.

Dineen is an experienced, skilled stylist and I highly recommend her if you have fine, dense hair texture like mine! My only regret is that I live too far away to see her regularly. Very impressed!

She’s been doing my hair for 4 years; even when I moved to San Francisco I would only get my hair done by her when I visited Chicago. She’s so good with color and gives the best haircuts, she‘s the first person to give me good layers and thins out my mass of hair and does a great blowout so I always leave looking 1000x better than when I went in. Plus the salon is cute and in a great neighborhood and everyone who works there is so nice! They take card, but bring cash to tip!

I have red/brown hair--Came to get a balayage with Sara Anne, aiming for a redhead take on the style. We both werent satisfied with how blonde I turned out. Came back the next week and she turned my blond highlights red and deepened my roots-- I left a very happy redhead!

The miracle that Molly pulled on my hair was unreal. I came in with a faded ombre of about three different colors, (dont use Ion dye at home, folks) and I walked out with a gorgeous, even, frosty white/grey bayalage. She was very down to earth, easy to talk to, and this was probably the fastest hair appointment Ive had in my life.The salon is very open and clean, and you dont feel claustrophobic around other clients getting their hair done. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating too. I will definitely be back to see Molly at this salon again!

Molly Schuman did an AMAZING job on my hair. I came in for a bayalage and the results were amazing (see my posted picture)! I posted a picture on my snapchat and all of my friends love it! Shes also super sweet and great to talk to- very down to earth and chill. The salon itself is also nice and open and they offer nail services as well. I have already recommended this salon (and Molly) to my friends.

Adam is one of the best stylists Ive ever visited. Hes laidback and flexible while focusing meticulously on the detail of your cut & color. He listened to what I wanted and offered suggestions within the boundaries of my ideas. He didnt push products whatsoever, but when I asked for products that could provide specific results, he was knowledgeable. (I did end up purchasing a shampoo & conditioner he recommended - and literally 3 washes later I already see a difference.)The salon itself is in the middle of a facelift, but they didnt use that as an excuse to be messy. The construction is contained and the air isnt dusty; the functioning spaces are still very clean.Cant recommend Fringe & Adam specifically highly enough. If you visit based on this recommendation, please tell him I say hello! :)

I had an appointment for a blow out that was $30. Lady (Stephanie) asks me what Im having done today. I say maybe a pony tail with loose curls if youre going to style it. Ok great. Puts the most basic early 2000s, cant move my banana curls pony in my hair and charges $75. Honestly. To be fair, after I questioned this obvious monstrosity my charge was reduced. Still an upsetting experience

Very disappointed in the service I received here. The deals offered are for their brand new stylists that the owner has not trained properly. The owner attempted to make their mistake right but it was done in a very ungracious and awkward manner I was made to feel that fixing my hair was huge pain for her even though it was her stylist who made the HUGE mistake with my hair. Who uses a hair brightner for blondes on a brunette expecting a conditioning treatment??? While fixing my hair I even overheard the new stylist state how awful and awkward she felt having to be in the salon with me after she brightened my hair in BLOTCHES. How do you think I felt with my hair like that and having to come back and hear you say such things??? Grow up. I will not be back and do not recommend coming here.
