Brought in my McIntosh MAC4100 receiver, as I saw on Mc’s website that they are an authorized repair shop. This 45-year-old receiver has kinda been a lemon ever since I bought it from (and tried multiple times getting it fixed at) a certain hifi shop in Wicker Park. JS did a full refurbish and got it back to me in RECORD TIME. I’m only a couple hours into listening since the refurb but it’s been fabulous so far. I can say it was a great experience and will definitely recommend JS to my audiophile friends.

Ive been using Just Service for 15 years exclusively to repair my electronics. Each case has been fixed completely. The customer service is friendly and is able to give instructions in simple terms. Theres also an online tracker for repair status so you can keep an eye out for when the repair is done, at which time they will call you as well. Its a relief to get my older units to keep going!

I recently brought my Marantz 2230 and 2270 receivers to Just Service based on a friends recommendation. Ray was easy to work with and gave me an honest price to tune up, replace bulbs and caps and to fix tuner wheels on both stereos. They were done within the week. Yesterday I brought my portable CD player to Just Service Inc. to fix anon functioning switch. To my delight, Ray (owner) whos been therefrom the beginning 1988 had in the system from 1996 when I hadmy Cerwin Vega speakers repaired. Their work on my speakers (stillhave to this day )was outstanding and the service was excellent.My conversation with Ray last night (open to 7pm) was awesomein how he was very professional and down to earth. We talked abouta lot of things that we have in common. Just Service Inc, is like aninstitution that remains because its solid people with great passionfor what they do ... what a gem.

I brought a Bose Wave Radio in for a consultation. After 18 years of use, the CD player wasnt working. I just had a great experience with Ray at Just Service. I had a microphone that had tiny, tiny wires that needed to be reconnected. It was part of a larger system, so replacing it was not an option. Very friendly people, brought in my old Sansui receiver because one channel was not working, not only did they repair the broken channel but they fixed all the lights and cleaned the unit so good its looks brand new. Found them through Ebay selling a replacement DVD recorder (to replace one that no longer was working for me). Price was fair so I bought it. They repaired my JVC AND LG DVD/VCRs for a super reasonable price considering esp. how complex the unit is (DVD + VHS player/recorder/dubber w/digital tuners better than any TV Ive ever seen. (Same unit, just different cases.) Both came back better than new.They really are the experts -- and Ive been to a few, but theyre up there with 3 I call the holy trinity of electronics expertise. (If my Tesla coil ever goes bad, Ill know where to send it!)You cannot go wrong with them.

Decided to have my musical keyboard repaired here. Took it in. They estimated it would be about $160 to fix two broken keys. I decided to just go with it since i didnt wanna deal with the details of fixing a keyboard that i really didnt want to damage. I come back in a week and the old man helping me told me i had to pay for the repair before i got to assess whether or not the keyboard was PROPERLY repaired. At first glance it looks fine, so i pay my $160 for the repair of my TWO keys and take the piano home. Once i begin playing, i realize one of the two keys is hard to press down. So not only did i get charged a ridiculous price for the repair, the repairman also tried to play off that he fixed my keyboard properly, WHICH HE DIDNT.Go somewhere else.

1 star means the worst possible experience, a feeling of having been completely ripped off. Our experience with Just Service is strikingly similar to the experience of most of the reviews seen on Yelp which is where you should look to see what customer experience has been and which call into question the authenticity of these Google Reviews ( think reputation management service) How could there be such a total contrast between the two?My brother, without having checked reviews, found Just Service on the web and sent them a malfunctioning Sony DAT recorder. It would not play or record, but was fixable according to JS. $500 later the recorder was returned and would not even open, in other words it had less functionality than when sent for service. Ray, the customer contact guy, said this must have been dropped. Your brother dropped it, because he heard a rattle inside, later determined to be a broken tape post. He offered this dropped conclusion without even plugging it in ( the battery power did not work and was one of the things to fix) And his assessment took about 30 seconds. Draw your own conclusion, but mine was he knew the thing didnt work as soon as I showed it to him, because their repairs were unsuccessful or were not done at all. READ THE YELP REVIEWS. STAY AWAY!!

I had Just Service rebuild two 70s era Kenwood cassette decks this year. I spoke with Ray on the phone and found him to be friendly and informative. The work itself was outstanding. Both decks sound fantastic.

I waited over a year to write this review because I only recently moved out of my old apartment, and I dont want the owners to know where I live. That should say something about how terrible this place is.Heres my experience: it was the beginning of December, and I wanted to transfer some high school VHS tapes to DVDs for my friends. I lived very close, so I stopped in and was quoted $20/tape. High, but okay. I was going to shop around a bit, but their proximity to my home was too convenient for me to pass up, so I called later that week to confirm that they could finish the conversion before Christmas. The owner answered and was VERY short, rude, and basically a jerk for no reason. I literally said Hey, how much does this service cost? and he treated me like I was an idiot for asking. Turns out I was misquoted and it would actually cost less than anticipated. So, bad internal communication, but at least I was getting a better price. I was assured that it would take no longer than a week for the conversion.A week went by. Nothing. I stopped in to ask about my status, and was assured itd be done the next day, but to ONLY check the status online from that point forward. So I checked it the next day... and the next day... fast forward to a week before Christmas. I stopped in again. I was ASSURED it would be ready by the Friday before Christmas. It wasnt. It wasnt ready for the rest of December.Theyd promised me a 48-hour turnaround at one point, and now theyd had my tapes for over a month.Then I read their Yelp reviews. My God. Look at them.Several reviewers state, explicitly, DO NOT GO HERE. They are right. Dont.Fearing I would never see my VHS tapes again, I checked in with them (online AND by phone) every week until I finally stopped in mid-January and said I realize you guys must be really busy, so if you dont think youll have time to convert my tapes, then I can just take them and do it myself, no harm done or anything in a desperate attempt to salvage my high school memories. I was then PROMISED it would be done within 48 hours. And it was, miraculously. About a month too late.Upon pickup, I learned that one of the DVDs was burned incorrectly (the footage simply cuts off halfway through the tape), but the rest were fine. And they tried to charge me $100. I was livid, but tried to keep my cool. I was quoted half that, I said, and the awkward but at least generally friendly attendant went back to check with his boss before coming back and saying yeah, the initial price is fine, hes really cutting you a deal here (this for several missed Christmas gifts and three physical DVDs, an overhead of maybe $1 with taxes). I left and never went back.If you are considering going here for any reason: DO NOT.They have an F with the BBB.They have less than 2 stars on Yelp (and would have negative stars if all of their negative reviews werent filtered).They are the worst.They are crooks and they are not a nice place and they will steal from you if they can. They made me sick to my stomach while holding my memories hostage, and I will never, ever pay for any service like this ever again without checking Yelp first. Atrocious. I am writing this review as a FAVOR to anyone who thinks they should ever go here for any reason.If this place were a hospital and you were literally bleeding to death, I would sooner tell you to drive to Milwaukee than seek treatment here. Because even if you had to bleed out in a car for 2 hours, youd still have a better chance at survival than if you went here.

Hmmm... Tough to review this place fairly based on other reviews here and my own personal experience. First off, I got my monitor fixed in less than a week for $160. Im not sure how easy it was to fix, but Im glad it works now and it seems a reasonable amount. Now the owner is every bit as rude and pushy as others say in their reviews. I asked to have my monitor plugged in to verify it worked before I left the premises and he said that he wouldnt have called me if it didnt work. Maybe not, but all I was really asking for was a power cord and 15 seconds of time. He made me pay first, which I gladly did, but hes a pretty demeaning guy. But again, my monitor works, its a good price and it was fast. The cash only thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Would probably go here for simple easy fixed that are cheap, but would have to think hard about complex, more expensive repairs.

Ive been using Just Service since 1994 and have always had an outstanding experience. Over the years Ive brought in a 1992 Yamaha receiver that I still use, a 1992 Yamaha 5 disc CD player that lasted 18 years, a 1988 Panasonic VCR that lasted over 20 years and had a 2000 Dell Dimension 4100 PC upgraded twice that I kept until 2017. I am not computer savvy at all, so I have relied on Just Service over the years for help with all sorts of computer questions, such as how to hook my computer up and set up the WEP (?) security code when I moved out of state a few years back. Ive received help with installing a CD burning program and how to use it and several times I have been able to have Just Service help me fix issues via a remote access program. Just today, I called Just Service because my HP printer queue had gotten stuck a couple of days ago. After I cleared the files, my printer stopped recognizing my laptop. I couldnt find the HP disk to download as I am moving, yet again and the disk had already been packed into 1 of the 10 or so boxes of office things. I called HP Support to see if I could buy a new disk, or if they could somehow send me the download. After several minutes on the phone, during which the HP rep used a remote access program, he advised me that there was something corrupt with the house network and my D drive. He suggested that I purchase a malware program to clean my printer and laptop. The 1 year subscription was $199. I told him I would think about it and would probably be calling them back. I immediately called Just Service to get their advice. The tech, Ray, guided me through what turned out to be a simple fix that consisted of turning off both my printer and laptop, then first powering up the printer again, second, inserting the printer cord into my laptop, and third powering up my laptop again. Low and behold, when I tried to print a document, my printer recognized my laptop! YEA! I offered to send payment for his time (Im still out of state), but he told me there was no charge and even gave me another pointer if I ever encounter a page that claims to be a warning about a possible virus. This is typical of the excellent and knowledgeable assistance I have received from Just Service over the last 24 years. I highly recommend them. June 11, 2018

Ive been to Just service twice for two different speakers and I have also recommended them to a friend. My first interaction with Tom was cool, I took my powered QSC speaker in because my tweeter was blown. It was under warranty so there wasnt a cost. It took them about a week or just a little more to repair which I think they had to wait for the part to come in from California.The second time I went I was in a pinch, my other speaker tweeter went out 3 days before an event (Yikes!!!!). I called they told me to bring it in. I took it in and Tom confirmed my issue. He gave me the speaker back and told me that he would call QSC, he did and followed up with me when he got the part in. I was able to go there after my event and get it fixed.I read the other reviews and laughed at the what they were saying about Tom some that I too experienced. He can be a bit interesting (old school guys are always rough around edges) but he also is very knowledgeable and passionate about electronics service. I had the pleasure of learning some things about speakers, televisions and many of the products that are being made today.I am a very strong advocate of great customer service and I do my best to provide it. I also expect for that service to be provided to me as well. Just service provided me with great quality service in a decent amount of time. I will recommend their services to all my DJ friends and tell them to not expect Tom to be their friend although he could improve on how he communicates to his clients or have someone be a buffer.I assume that repeat business is important to them and the improvement in customer service could possibly solidify that. I will continue to use their services until they are no longer providing the quality of what I need.
