I’m rather picky about my barbers, and for the past three years, I’ve driven from the other side of the city (Oak Park) to get my hair cut here . . . And still, every time I walk out after getting a fresh cut, I leave feeling great about my decision to do so!I usually sit with Mike — he’s the man! I’ve sat with several of the other barbers, and they have all done a great job. Also, (and to me — very importantly) everyone has always seemed very open and welcoming to anyone who walks in the door.I highly recommend to anyone in Chicago looking for a classic, top-notch barbershop!!

I have medium length hair. Had a nice 4 inches of hair on the top of my head. Asked for an inch off and instead got only an inch left on the top of my head. I didnt pay $40 for this kind of service. After reading all the good reviews I was sorely disappointed. Maybe they just dont cut Asian hair. Great atmosphere though!

First time ever using this barbershop and it exceeded my expectations. I went in for a trim of my long hair and received exactly what I wanted. There was a cordial atmosphere among the barbers and clients. It was a little expensive ($35 + tip) but it was worth it for a very solid haircut. I will definitely be going back.

You don’t have to keep calling and calling to see if there is an opening.They have strict Covid 19 policies in place that are listed on their website. Everyone gets temperature checked. There are partitions between stations. Masks are required.Great local barbershop.

I drive 40 minutes away from home to get a haircut here.. And when I move, Ill drive an hour to continue getting my haircut here. This is, hands down, THE BEST barbershop Ive ever been to! Love this place and the crew!

Like many others, it has been months since I have gotten my hair cut due to quarantine. I am also new to Chicago from very white areas (with little experience of cutting Asian hair) so I was really excited to get my hair cut for the first time. I put a little too much trust in Belmont due to their good reviews. I also called and asked if anyone could cut Asian hair and they told me everyone there was really good at it. $30 should get me a really good haircut based on the several places I’ve lived throughout the years. This time it was honestly a really bad experience :( I asked for a fade and as you can see in the pictures I did not get a fade. It looks nothing like the sporty and professional look I was going for, which I have succeeded at getting before. There was very very little scissor work involved and the guy who was probably barely out of his 20s used a buzzer almost the entire way through. No scissor work = no texturing on top, and no blending on the side where the hair gets parted towards. He also did not run his hands through my hair at all to try to see how it could be shaped or how I would try to style it. So when I came home and tried to style it you can see that the hair simply wasn’t cut properly based on the way I would normally part it (which I did communicate early on). Overall I feel like I wasted an opportunity to get a really good hair cut after letting my hair grow out and put too much trust in this barbershop.Edit: they offered to fix it, which is nice, but I don’t think it can be fixed. I also am uploading a new photo showing how my callus was never removed (the hair that sticks up at the back/top). On their website they sell themselves as a place that does not try to pull you in with “pampering services” such as washing your hair or anything. I would like the reader to understand that without 1. Running hands through hair or 2. Making the hair somewhat wet/heavy to know how it really lays, there is no way to have a perfect cut because they cannot know how your hair lays or separates or looks on different days of the week. So I definitely recommend looking for a place that will give you these “pampering” services (stuff that actually aids the barber know what they’re doing)

Came in for my first haircut in 6 months with my hair down to my shoulders and a complete mess. Came out with probably the best haircut i’ve ever received and an unbelievable transformation. All of the barbers are welcoming and are very easy to talk with as they work with speed and precision. Also they have an amazing sense of style and really put the effort into helping each customer leaving their shop looking fresh.

Walk-ins are usually welcomed, but with the pandemic, they’re only accepting appointments at this time.. no matter to me though, they’re well worth it.

When I moved to Chicago I was nervous about finding a barber that could continue to give me a quality bald fade. Getting my haircut is something I look forward to on a monthly basis, and I could not be more happy with my experience thus far at Belmont Barbershop. I have not even bothered to try other places out to compare and I have lived here for 2 years. Not only are their haircuts great, but the ambiance inside the shop is amazing. The artwork is very stimulating, conversation is always good, and you really feel like you are just hanging out with the guys during your haircut. My hubs and our son are loyal customers to the Belmont Barbers. They are always so nice with my son. We don’t go to just one person so we’ve been through a few of the barbers and he’s honestly never had a bad cut. Our last cut was when they opened after lockdown and I have to say, I’m so impressed with how serious they are taking all of the new safety restrictions and precautions. I will only ever take my son here, just because of that!

I go to Belmont Barbershop every few weeks to get my haircut. Their online scheduling system makes it super easy to create an appointment so I can get in exactly when I need to with little to no waiting.I’d recommend using this feature as most of the guys in the shop have a pretty solid book of business and this can guarantee that your seat is reserved. I like that they have that policy – it makes the place run like a well-oiled machine!The guys there are great – I always schedule with Greg – he’s super friendly, keeps a clean station and is always in a great mood! Every time I get my haircut I’m happy with it!There’s always solid music playing and the overall vibe of the place is awesome – I really dig going there.Be aware that it’s cash only (says so multiple places on the website but in case you missed it here it is again). If you forget there’s an ATM pretty close that they can direct you to.Always a pleasure to go to Belmont!

Ive only been going to Belmont for a few months, but Ive been seeing Brian, my current barber, for nearly 6 years. Way before he cut my hair at Belmont, he cut it at another nearby shop. Before that, he owned a shop in Denver, CO. and I was a regular customer there.My point is that Brian is a great dude, a fantastic barber and Belmont Barbershop is also excellent. I usually get there midday and there is always great coffee and even beer in the fridge. All of the barbers Ive spoken with there are super friendly and down to earth, but Brians the only one I know best. And if youre looking for a great haircut and a friendly environment, this is a cool shop with TVs, music and good vibes.

Great overall experience for a haircut. I have been going here regularly for five months and not had a bad experience yet. Colin is my regular guy and he does a bang up job every time. The guys in the shop have a great rapport with one another so there is always fun, lively conversation. Haircut prices are reasonable ($30 for a regular cut) for the quality and the locale.

I continue to have a great experience with him and continues to do an awesome job! The haircuts he does on me always leave me extremely happy! If you plan on seeing him please call before because he is not taking appointments yet, unfortunately, he has less seniority than the other barbers. So he mainly does walk ins. In my opinion he should be taking appointments because he is that good. I hope management changes this so I can make my appointments with Vince and plan accordingly. A cool barbershop with friendly, chatty barbers. Whats great is that they accept walk-ins with 1 dedicated barber for those. But the rest of the barbers work from reservations which is great when you dont have 2-3 hours to sit and wait for a haircut. Beware though, this joint attracts the most tragically hip hipster clientele.

I started going to Belmont looking for the real deal barbershop experience... this place is it. Great haircut, cold drinks in the fridge, strait forward classic cuts, shaves and banter.Ive always seen Brian, who takes walk in customers and will hopefully be booking reservations soon. Brian actually takes time to listen to what you want, then provides a high quality cut: all the nice accompaniments with a consistent attention to detail. On my last visit I had time for a shave as well and as always, Brian issued his usual 1st class treatment.All the guys at Belmont have built great rapport with the customers who are almost always on a return visit to the shop. Absolutely worth a visit next time you have any grooming needs.

Ive been going to Belmont Barbershop since it opened. My experiences in the beginning were that of a patron at a small but friendly and relaxed boutique barber shop. When you walked in there was a couch on the right and a pool table in the back. The cutting stations were located on the left and it was a great experience. The haircuts were superb and the guys were all great to converse with. As time has progress the owners have taken the business in a different direction. Instead of focusing on the atmosphere and expanding into a larger space they changed the atmosphere and stayed put. They have removed the pool table, added more cutting stations and added chairs around the couch. While the hair cuts are still superb the experience has suffered. The waits for walk ins still take up to 2 hours, the space is still too small for the amount of business they have, and they are so strict about closing up they tell you not to come in an hour before closing because they wont be able to get you. That said, its still my go to place for a hair cut, I just had to stop recommending them because I dont want the line to get any longer! :-) I hope they open a second location sometime soon and restore that awesome atmosphere they had when it first opened.

Ive been coming in and getting my hair cut by Josh for the last seven years. Everytime I visit, I know I can depend on these guys to give me a cut that I can be proud wearing out any time. Complimentary neck line-ups with a straight razor give the ending to perfect cuts at the 5+ chair establishment in Roscoe VillageWhat Josh did recently, though, was above and beyond. With a full schedule and a photoshoot at his shop, he took me in as a last minute call-in AFTER I saw that his schedule was fully booked online. Josh didnt have to squeeze me in, but he did and I was able to land the job in part thanks to him. I highly recommend making an appointment online at least a week before to ensure you have the barber of your choice. They are cash only, but now have an ATM in the shop. Such a nice addition!!The Belmont Barbershop is my go-to shop in Chicago when Im looking to get cut, so come in and get your moneys worth on a look you know will leave you dapper and clean everytime.

An incredible encounter, amazingly proficient, much regard appeared, the shop goes well beyond for his clients and his locale.

Booked a beard trim with Greg for my husbands 30th bday as a way to pamper him. We were running 10 min late, and attempted to call several times the hour before to let them know/make sure that was ok. The phone lines to the shop were not working. We get there 10 min late, walk in, were not greeted or otherwise welcomed before Greg told us he wouldnt take my husbands appointment. We apologized for being late, and explained we tried to call, but he clearly wanted us to know how important he was and shut it down. My husband ended up seeing Ralph, who is open for walk-ins. Ralph did an amazing job, and seemed very down to earth. Gregs attitude definitely made both my husband and me feel uncomfortable during his appointment (Greg didnt have any other appointments and sat there the whole time). Definitely didnt like the pompous attitude towards my husband on his birthday (which they knew about as i mentioned it when i made the appointment), as my husband is the most ego free, down to earth guy (not to mention a combat veteran). When his father died earlier this year, we went to Andres Barber Shop up the street to get him ready for his fathers funeral. Andres was a comfortable and welcoming environment. All in all, happy with the trim, but the customer service left much to be desired.

Come to this place for the experience. Ive been getting my hair cut here for a few years now. Peter is my go to barber. Hes a life coach on the side when hes not cutting hair so suffice it to say that conversation is excellent here. The lay out is like any traditional barbershop and all their guys provide a unit experience.This place is expensive, thus attracting a more sophisticated crowd, but the cost is well worth it. I would have never known this, but the guys have a a tremendous amount of experience and schooling in this field.As long as I live in Chicago, Ill be coming here.This joint wont disappoint.

Great group of people who work here. Unfortunately as a walk in I was given to the newest employee there right by the front door. Lackluster at best. Clearly not skillet in beards as he left a mark in my beard where he took too much off. Missed multiple spots. Very upset for an overpriced cut with a shabby job. Buyer beware. Do not see anyone new at this establishment.

This is the best barber shop in the city. As good as any salon cut, but with the added bonus of a barbershop that just knows what its doing.

Wanted to come in for a walk in at 5:30pm. Arrived at 5:32pm and barber told me he was packed up. I called an hour before I left and told them I’d be there by 5:30pm. Will never come here again. Didn’t even offer an apology. This could be a great shop but horrible customer service.

This place is excellent. Barbers are not only good, they are also friendly and pretty funny. Belmont Barbershop carries Layrite and Lucky 13 products, which is great. Its in your best interest to make an appointment. This place gets really busy and has extremely long walk-in wait times during prime hours.

Hands down the best haircut experience Ive had and one of the best cuts I have had. Awesome place, nice people, genuinely know what theyre doing and they care. Gave me some product for free and the straight-razor of the neckline is amazing.
