I am japanese.I used to live in here with my family,30 years ago.It have good memories.
Ive been here a couple of months, and I love my studio apartment! The Flamingo truly feels like home. Michelle is amazing and kind. The maintenance staff is efficient and also kind! I have no issues with finding a parking spot ever. I would recommend living here and I hope to be here another year! I cant wait to use the pool in the summer!
I have tried for 2 weeks to try and get a hold of the leasing office for a virtual tour. I have had 4 separate appointments and every single time they never show up and never follow up. TERRIBLE!!!!! Don’t understand any of the positive reviews about this management.
Truly impressed by the staff at the Flamingo Building on 5500 South Shore Drive. Chicago. IL A team that is positive, efficient, works together in problem solving, and very courteous deserves recognition. Thank you Flamingo Staff, Precious, Jennifer, Marion, Kevin, Sam, David and others that work week-after-week to keep the residents safe, confident, and satisfied.
I love this building. Its clean, quiet, and is a nice neighborhood with many shops and the lake shore in walking distance. Im also very happy with the management. The building manager Marrion Willis is a very nice and helpful person. I wanted to upgrade my studio to a one bedroom apartment and she helped me do it in the easiet way possible. I highly recoomend this buidling to anyone who wants to live in Hydepark and wants an affordable apartment with beautiful lake views.
I’ve been living in the Flamingo for going on a year and it has been a relatively satisfying experience. The amenities alone makes the stay worth while. There’s a swimming pool, a fitness room, a study room and laundry that’s accessible on a consistent bases. Being that I do work out, I appreciate the fitness room on days I can’t make it to the gym. These rooms are always kept clean and in great standards. My fiancé, daughter and me share a two bedroom apartment that features a large living room and kitchen that has a section that gives you a small dining room feel. All of that appliances are up to date and easy to maintain. The trash shoot is parallel to my door and easy to get to as well. To cap all of these aspects off, the staff makes it all worthwhile. Michelle is the leasing consultant and she consistently goes beyond the call of duty to appease the residents. Not to mention my daughter loves her as well. The property manager is also a great individual that is very understanding and does what needs to be done. Will is one of the maintenance guys and there’s never been a maintenance issue that has not been addressed in a timely manner. I almost forgot about the parcel pending that holds your packages for you. I love it because me and my fiancé does a lot of online shopping. It’s quite, subtle and kid friendly and the all door staff is very friendly. The door staff doesn’t just allow anyone to enter, and they’ll feed your pets. Overall great stay and I recommend it to anyone. Also if you’re resident and you refer someone and they sign a lease you’ll get a $500 check.
I toured this facility earlier this week and was very impressed with the new management. Of course, I dont share the historical perspective of a resident. The property is beautiful; their new rental rates were competitive with all the other properties I visited in Hyde Park. Additionally, it was the only TLC property with a live attendant at the door when I arrived. The units are small to say the least; however, I liked that their kitchens have full size appliances. So they are definitely high on my list to consider.
This place is absolute garbage. On the outside it’s charming but the inside is rotten. And they really do have it all!CockroachesWashers that don’t spinDryers that don’t heat upLaundry is constantly offlineAbysmal parkingThis place isn’t worth half the price they ask for.
The rudest management and the worst apartments. There’s mold and pests and the management could care less about your well being or answering your calls. Do yourself a favor and don’t do it.
Every thing is great especially swimming pool on summer season. However, season time cannot have free parking space near the apartment because of first floor bar guests. Anyway this is a best money effective apt in this area.
Great community pool membership, though weekday staff are very rude. Weekend staffer Amanda is a delight. Wish her cheerfulness rubbed off.
Searched on south side for a 1 bedroom through different realtors and agencies. TLC provided the best options and prices. Their intercompany communication was excellent as they notified the other apartment managers ahead of my visit so they were prepared for my visit. The Flamingo offered the best location and views of the lake for the price. All the staff is there the help. I am impressed with the security guards, they actually got up out of their chair and helped me move in. Lease terms are flexible, options available for less than 1 year at no extra monthly charge (may have been a promotion at the time I signed - dont know if standard). The building is of old construction (plaster walls as opposed to sheet rock) so it is quiet from the neighbors. Bar Louies at the entrance is convenient too. I recommend it.
It’s true when they say people only usually make reviews when they’re upset. I’ve lived at The Flamingo for 2 years and haven’t had any major issues. Rent is high and I’m definitely paying for the neighborhood. Building is old but there’s a pool and I have a great view. HOWEVER, the line of what’s acceptable has been crossed. Ever since Ms. Linda left a couple of months ago we’ve gone downhill. Hallways aren’t vacuumed. Carpet doesn’t get cleaned. It’s looking more and more like a project. And a whole new, non motivated maintence staff. But what’s really got me hot is this joke of a laundry room! This is a decent sized building and while I’m not sure of the exact occupancy, I’d estimate 100+ residents. Guess how many washer and dryers we have? 7! Guess how many work? As of today, 9/13/18, TWO! Yep, just 2, for an entire buildings dirty drawers. We don’t have hookups so the only alternative is to go elsewhere. I was told by one of the new office staff, who is also an acquired taste, that the repair company would be out today! This is funny to me because on 8/19 I snapped a pic showing only 4 working machines. Less than a month later, now only 2. So why weren’t they called beforehand? Listen, I get they didn’t break it. But the lackadaisical approach isn’t fair to residents!Giving 2 stars for the 2 washers 🤷🏾♀️Just bring Linda back! And the original maintenance team - Kevin and David. PLEASE!Update 10/10/2018 -None of the washers have an out of order sign yet one is clearly OUT OF ORDER per the LED message being displayed. One of the washers kept my clothes hostage for nearly an hour despite the fact that the total cycle time is only 30 mins. I had to rewash my blankets because they were soaked with soap and water. $1.75 gone!I’m also on my second round of drying for 2 of my loads. And not because they were overloaded but because 2 of the dryers (south wall) are nearly controlled by the outside temp because of the vents. Hey installer, you had one job! $1.75 gone, gone, again. So again, the operation of the machines are not to directly be blamed on management, however, previous management would never have allowed this many persistent issues to occur.Leaving the same 2 stars, because I’m still not impressed.
Just moved in, and I love it
I love there pool
