Absolutely disappointed with the customer service at this store!Christopher the sales manager had me and my business partner disappointed. It was my first time at store 506 in Charlotte. We purchased a trailer tire that got torn on the road after just 2 hrs of having it. When trying to return it he stated “I can do an exchange”, after viewing the tire thoroughly he said “it’s imposible for this to happen and I can’t exchange it give you a store credit”, you would have had to gotten in a real accident”! Thank god we didn’t get involved in an accident since our trailer is a four wheeler. He assumed we did that to the tire. He made us feel very uncomfortable and asked us to even bring the torn parts of the tread from the road. I asked him if I bring the parts he will do a return or exchange he said no. I feel he just didn’t want to fulfill and exchange or return. He was not providing any support as a sales manager.We love Northern Tools and will continue to purchase from them just not at this store.
I recently purchased an item that when put together did not meet the needs I had hoped for. I returned the item and Maureen Thomas was the person I spoke to. She was amazing! She understood why I wanted to return the item and was very understanding. I was told I would receive my purchase price. Could have not been more pleased with the kindness and understanding I received. Will always come to this store first when need arises.

I bought a hose cart, holds 100 feet of hose! I could not figured out the installation instructions and was ready to give up, so I brought it back to the store for help. The team there was very courteous and responsive. They took the task of assembly and called me back with the cart fully assembled. I don’t know how they did it, but was sooo grateful for the help, I felt compelled to express my satisfaction through a review. I love this store, the Manager and the team there!!!

I took my backpack blower in to be repaired and my weed eater to be started. (I couldn’t get it to start by myself). Tiffany was so helpful. She started my weed eater and made sure I could start it by myself. And then she also tried to start my backpack blower instead of just letting me put it in to get repaired. She started the blower and also showed me how to start that, too. Her customer service was excellent and she was so nice! Definitely recommend going to Northern Tool and Equipment and think Tiffany is awesome!

Wow, absolute best overall customer experience I have had in years in any store.Called upon store opening to inquire on a product, Larry, was extremely helpful, listened, knowledgeable, and offered assistance and advice, said to ask for Stan when I came in the store.Upon arriving several hours later Stan knew exactly what I needed and was exceptionally patience, professional, attentive, helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable. Stan went above and beyond to help me.The cashier #000099 (male, sorry didnt get his name) was attentive and motioned to come in his lane when available, courteous, professional, polite, respectful and helpful. This guy was younger and to see this in with a youth is so refreshing because typically they are not any of the above working or not.I absolutely will be back, and refer everyone I know. Thank you again for the above and beyond customer service and exceptional experience.

!!!!!!!!PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!In March of 2021 I spent $1700 on a 5 gpm pressure washer for my business. From the very beginning I had nothing but issues. The following issues all happened within a months time. The machine smoked heavily when started which eventually lead to difficulty starting the machine altogether. I brought the machine back to the location and explained what I was experiencing only to find out that I couldn’t return the equipment or exchange the equipment due to the fact that I had to put gas and oil in the machine in order to use it. I was directed to their repair department who explained to me that it would take two weeks for the machine to be looked at which is understandable being that I’m not the only customer they have but the machine was brand new. So I reached out to their district manager as well as their repair department manager to see if I would be able to get further assistance being that I wasn’t getting sufficient customer service at the location. Upon speaking with both managers they clearly had a conversation because they both said the same exact thing basically upholding their unfair policy of not being able to Return or exchange faulty equipment. Their repair department manager Jonathan green did his best to assist me with the issue but in order to receive the help I had to drive from this location to their Kannapolis location to allow one of their head techs to diagnose the issues I was having. They put a Band-Aid on the problem and sent me on my Way only to get to a large job I had on my schedule and the machine literally blew up. I immediately got on the phone and went back to the location to address the issues I was having.The repair manager at their Statesville Road location John Toby explained to me that he had never seen anything this bad before and that it wasn’t going to be covered under warranty and I had to spend an additional $650 to buy a new part for the faulty equipment. I spent over $2000 on the cost of the equipment as well as repair and I also lost out on an additional $2500 due to the equipment not working properly and not able to perform my job. I have communicated thoroughly with all levels of management to try and get the matter resolved only to continue to run into the same issue with them not wanting to honor the fact that it was a lemon. The reason why I’m leaving such a detailed review on this company is because I don’t want anyone else to have to experience what I have in the last couple of months it’s been a complete nightmare their customer service is extremely poor. I’ve been in the Pressure Washing business for close to a decade now and I’ve used several different machines. I wanted to go into a better piece of equipment which is why I went to Northern tool but I soon found out that wasnt a good idea. I would highly recommend anyone who is considering shopping here to be very careful on any purchases made and make sure to understand their policies before purchasing

Got a great deal on some off brand pelican style protective cases. You know the ones that have the customizable foam that you form to whatever you are looking to protect. In my case its expensive camera equipment and it was WELL WORTH IT
Had a problem with my Powerhorse pressure washer. They tried to fix it but it failed again. It was still under warranty and after speaking to the assistant manager I was able to return the machine and just pay a restocking fee. I’ve had the machine for 1 1/2 years with a 2 year warranty. I upgraded to a Northern pressure washer for a considerable amount of money. The new machine is absolutely awesome! Thank you Northern! I’ll be back to buy some accessories. I have shopped at this store more times than I can count. I have never had an issue and customer service was always good. My best experience was; I bought a generator that cost a pretty penny. Even though I had it right at a year, it only had an hour of run time on it. They tried to fix it several times to no avail. They could have easy said we cant fix it and it was nothing they can do But the service guy(Mark) got with the manager and said this shouldnt have happened to this unit with only 1hr of run time and it shouldnt have happened even if it had 50hrs on it!... So this is what I walked out the store with....NO CHARGE!!! Thanks N.T.E

I have been a Northern Tool customer here at the Matthews store for a number of years. I am on my second back pack sprayer. This last one is a Chapin 24V backpack sprayer (it is great, I love it, I do a lot of spraying, saves time and much effort). I have also purchased several other items along with the Powerhorse pressure washer, 89897, which I have not yet used. I am impressed with how it is made though.Northern Tool Has quality equipment for reasonable prices. Their extended warranty and accidental damage replace plans are valuable as well. Yesterday, I brought in the battery pack and charger for the back pack sprayer mentioned above. I had accidently gotten water inside the battery pack shorting it out, causing the loss of its ability to charge.Here is where some companies drop the ball, NOT NORTERN TOOL! There was no scorn or disdain. Nick came out, took the battery pack and charger out of a brand new Chapin 24V sprayer in the box and handed it to me in exchange for the damaged pack. Nick was helpful, courteous and pleasant to deal with along with Madison, the cashier, who was upbeat and amicable. I also received help from Marlon, who cut a piece of chain for me. He also was knowledgeable and very personable. Thank you, Northern Tool, for backing up your products and your warranty plans. Please don’t shop at this store they only sell defeated equipment and if you want to return it they will charge you a 15% restocking fee. Bought a $700 pressure washer and have been back to this store 3 times for defeated parts and they still won’t exchange for a new one.

When they were in Matthews, they had sales associates on the floor willing to help. Since they have moved to the Charlotte location, its a nightmare trying to get some help.Ive tried to get some help from the service department on several occasions but couldnt ever get the guy to come to the counter.My last visit, I was needing to repair one of my pressure washing setups which meant fittings and other things in the store and order another hose reel from the warehouse in Ft Mill. After being there for about 30 minutes, I finally got somebody to help me. While the associate was on the computer helping me find a reel in stock, I assume it was the manager came by and told him to help someone load some pressure washers up. So I guess he was supposed to stop helping me. They had another associate that was just standing by the doors that kept saying he was waiting on someone. Myself and my helper ended up going outside to help THEIR customer load up the pressure washers. The customer service has dropped off the face of the Earth in this place.

Trip could have been better. Found out today that the expensive piece of equipment I bought at the Sardis Rd location cant be serviced at that location. I have to take it to another location 25 minutes farther North. Would have been nice to have been told this when I bought it. Dont go to this location! You cannot return items that have had gas or oil in them, no matter if it is the next day! Bad people work here! Dont purchase protection plan, its a scam!I purchased a Honda generator from this store on June 7,2017 the generator tan for 6 hours and then stopped. I brought the generator back to the store w the receipts he next day. They could not accept it as a return or exchange until the service tech looked at it, he would not be there for another day. I left it there to be looked at by the tech.At time of purchase, the asst. manager said I should get the protection plan smashed, broken, anything wrong w generator just bring it back to the store and all would be taken care of under the plan. I dont know how I could have been mislead more! The store would not honor a refund! The store would not exchange the generator! The tech called today and said it was carburetor. I asked to get a refund, his response was I could come get my equipment it was ready. I asked for the manager. The manager was no help, he would not honor a refund of the $1000+. Do not shop at this store!

Think twice before you order online for in store pickup. Evidently they don’t check in store inventory and what shows as in stock online isn’t actually at the store. They will also cancel your order. And in the email it says that a representative will contact you but they don’t.

This is the first place I go when needing any sockets or tools. Not Always the best price but they always have what I need and its not cardboard quality like harbor freight. The staff leaves a bit to be desired but whatever. Some of them just seem like they hate to be there lol.

Their coupons get me in the door. With coupons, some deals can be had. Without them no so much.
This store has horrible customer service. Only go here if you enjoy being treated like dirt and god forbid something goes wrong with a part you get here because they will simply ignore you hoping you go away. I purchased a storm related item during a recent Ice & Snow Storm in our area.NORTHERNS POLICY IS THAT ITEMS PURCHASED BEFORE OR DURING A STORM (AND ARE RELATED TO THE STORM) ARE NON-RETURNABLE; IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF THE ITEM IS UNOPENED OR NOT.The logic I received was they would have all this extra inventory ??? They already had the product on the shelf. I would have no problem with this policy if when buying the item you were verbally told storm products could not be returned; when I returned to the store I was shown a piece of paper taped to the checkout counter top. My fault I admit I did not see it... I think Northern should make a more concerted effort to make sure all customers are aware of this unusual policy. Had they told me in advance I probably would have inquired elsewhere. I would have given them one star, but I figured I would give them a second star because it was partly my fault for not seeing the sign.
