Damaged my daughters car
At 11 p.m. on a Sunday, we unfortunately got stuck in the ice at the bottom of a steep, gravelly country road hill and couldn’t get out. Jeff came quickly after being dispatched by AAA and immediately took a solution-oriented approach, even though HIS tow truck also slid and got stuck shortly after arriving. Luckily Jesse, another member of his team, came quickly (he wasn’t even on shift!) with kitty litter to help us build friction. When that didn’t work, both Jeff and Jesse kept a very positive attitude while helping us to troubleshoot the situation, and were very patient in working with a group of non-Iowan twenty-somethings. With Jeff’s expertise and coaching, we were able to get our car and the tow truck both up the hill to safety (and clear streets)! Can’t thank them enough for their moral support and commitment to helping us so late at night.
I got a flat just outside of Monticello and called my insurance company for roadside service. JDs was the company sent out to help.It took them about 45 minutes to get to me (they drive from Manchester, so not too bad). They said they could tow me or put on a spare. I asked them to put on the spare so I could get a tire for cheap at a Wal-Mart or something. They finished that up in about 5 minutes. They told me to get another tire checked once I get back home too. I started driving and they followed. I noticed that the spare would start catching on something when I got over 40mph. Then they called me and asked how it was going. I told them. They then told me about a tire place about 6 miles away and that theyd follow behind to make sure I got thereTwo nice gentlemen who were quick and helpful. I think they went above and beyond by following up on the phone and following behind to make sure I reached my destination.
I cant give them a star...well okay 1. Its not that they didnt tow our car. They did and that would have been a 5 star rating. So sad that the office part is bringing it down to a 1 star.We paid by phone the next day, using our credit card. We asked them to send a receipt for the towing so we could file with our insurance company (we have 100% coverage). That was 3 months ago. After months of calling I sent a letter with all the information and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Waited a week and called again because I hadnt gotten it yet. They hadnt received it yet. Hard to believe! Do they think Im buying the excuse! Something told me to have a signed receipt of delivery from the post office.Contacted an attorney. He suggested I send the letter again without the self-addressed stamped envelope (after all they should have it by now)If I dont get it in a week, my attorney will take the case!Ill be writing to the BBB and anyone else I can think of!

I broke down on I80 near West Liberty on a Sunday and AAA had JDs come tow me to Moline. I rode in the tow truck with the two wrecker operators. Excellent, professional, and friendly service from JDs.
Id highly recommend them there reasonably priced and very professional! Dont waste youre time on the big names and over priced companies, these guys will treat you like family!
I lost he keys to my car and called my insurance company to use my free towing. They chose JD towing. The beginning of my nightmare. JD towing sends an employee and the owner/manager to tow my car. Even tho ahead of time they knew there were no keys they show up without the tools to unlock my car and never ended up put the car into neutral. Their solution as towing professionals was to not even give me a call but to proceed dragging my 370z (manual) while it’s in first with the parking break still on 15-25 feet (so they say). They weren’t even going to tell me what they did but luckily one of the neighbors saw and called me, as well as the mechanics from nissan upon the car arriving. Stating that the JD towing was dragging my car while still in gear with the parking break on. This is the definition of gross unprofessionalism but it gets worse. To avoid wasting both parties time and money I decide to call JD towIng to report what happened. A sweet young girl answers and tells me the manager/owner is out. It’s 4pm so I don’t think much of it. Come 10am the next day still no call. So I call back and get the same girl and tell her this is urgent. The owner then calls me and immediately gets defensive saying they’re not at fault etc... i politely ask for the name of his insurance company so I may file a claim. The conversation ends with him calling me a prick. I call the non emergency Cedar Rapids police department and speak with SGT Hanson to get the name of Jd towing insurance. He advises to call the DOT as they have to register for their towing lisence and or to call my insurance as they will always help. I call my insurance and request a supervisor to expedite things. They agree JD towing is liable and apologize on their behalf for the gross unprofessionalism. Before typing this I attempted to reach out one more time again to save both parties time and money. No answer. My car is currently at Nissan undergoing diagnostics to see what was broken when JD towing dragged my car. A claim has been made and my insurance is going to reach out to their since the owner/manager would not comply and right the wrongs they made. I will update this post when the claim has been settled. Please don’t use this towing company. The owner is the guy responsible for towing my car in a manner that is unacceptable for any type of vehicle. He was rude when I came to them first and he may break your or a loved ones car and wouldn’t even have the decency to tell you what he did. Thank you again to my neighbor and to the mechanics at Nissan for informing me that the car was towed in a manner that is terrible for the vehicle. I still can’t believe he was too lazy to go back to the shop to grab his tools to unlock my car and tow it in a way that is safe for the vehicle. Or to call me and have me bring the new key.....or at the very least to ask my permission to drag it (WHICH I NEVER WOULD HAVE AGREED TO)
I would give a ZERO or even negative numbers if possible. When my car broke down in sub zero temps, our insurance company sent JDs. I told them I would need a ride home and when the truck arrived there were three people and no room for me. They made me stand for 45 extra minutes in freezing weather while they TRIED to get the tow truck to operate. They brought it to my house where the driver ran over and crushed our neighbors recycle can. When they came and took it to the shop the next day, the driver hit the garage and broke our side mirror. Id PUSH a vehicle home uphill before I ever call Jds.
