Had high hopes for this place but we were disappointed. Food took a really long time to come out(we were there for over 3 hours), not blaming anyone as we had a party of 10 and I know how bad things are in restaurants now. I ordered a burger w Mac and cheese and bacon. It came out with slices of bread for a bun, and the mac and cheese was cold. The burger was 18$, which is very pricey for what I received. At 18$ for the burger, they charged another 2$ to add a side salad. The beef on weck egg rolls were good. Overall most of us left disappointed, could have just been an off night.
Went because I had a drink token and tried two different drinks. I really liked the sangria cocktail ($10) one I got. Had a couple draft beers as well which were good. It was a slow while there (we went around 4:30 in the afternoon), but it had a chill bar vibe to it. The bartenders were a bit too chatty for my liking, but it was slow so they didnt have as many people to chat with around the bar so not a big deal. They were cool enough to let me bring my bike inside which I really appreciated. I didnt order food, but my buddy did and really like his wings (ordered medium) and fries. Id return to try the food and have a drink.
You may not get what you ordered but what you do get is goooood!! Lots of beer selection and great atmosphere! Much recommend!
What an amazing place! Mike the GM is totally amazing! Love the food, drinks, & atmosphere! I travel all over & this is one of the best & tastiest places I’ve been!
I found this place using Google reviews. The beer selection is excellent but the food puts it to shame. I ordered a beef on wack and the bartender suggested I order some wings too. Im not sure which I enjoyed more but the plate was clean when they took it. I highly recommend this place.
This place was a nice change of pace for what I usually see on Chippewa. The decor and ambiance was great, and it was a perfect spot for a pre-show dinner with my friend. We had a spot at a high top table, and the food came out pretty fast, and our server was super attentive, refilling our drinks anytime they were low. The place was loud, but it wasnt annoying- it as a nice loud, from a place full of life and people- and we were still able to have a conversation. We had a great times and I will definitely return. I recommend this place for those who want a quick, easy dinner downtown, in or near Chippewa, without the Chippewa-ness of it all.
Weve been here twice and just love the vibe! The owner is very sweet and all of the staff were super friendly and helpful! Cant say enough good things about the almond-crusted chicken tenders!!!! My husband got the Buffalo platter and was extremely satisfied! We will definitely be back! Love supporting this local business:)
Calling ahead asking for a seating early enough to finish before 7:00 show at Sheas I was told 5:00 would be fine. Arriving at 5:00 and being seated right away was the only positive. 5:15 Megan took our drink and dinner order. At 6:00 she returned for a second round drink order. We most likely would have had an additional in between. I reminded her our 7:00 show. At 6:35 our dinners came to the table. She asked about additional drinks. No thanks no time. Please bring the check. 5 dinners $159.6 of which most was left on the table. Take out boxes are not allowed in the theater. Very poor service. Will not be returning
Always a great experience. Wait staff/bartenders are great. Good food. Better service than the Vue rooftop bar at the Curtis Hotel.
Nothing special but it was good and service was friendly.
Beef on wick was tasty.. Feel bad I forgot my left overs. Brussel sprouts slaw was good.
We’ve been here several times. Always consistent either at the bar where the bartenders are excellent or at a table where the food is delicious! If you’re looking for great sandwiches, interesting dinner choices, and great service-this is your place. We love to go here before shows or games downtown-and an amazing bloody mary!
Spent much time travelling to Buffalo every week for work responsibility over 2019+. Visited Local Kitchen just about every week - bartender and staff very welcoming, food outstanding and selection of beer! and root beer available! Highly recommended. Thanks!
Local is a cleverly run, quintessentially Buffalo experience. With a flair and flavor that stands out in Buffalos busy Chippewa district, Local delivers a dependable service with plenty food and drink options. Its dedication to being open as many days of the year as possible makes it an attractive option for anyone looking for a place to dine on short notice, and its commitment to quality is shown at all levels of its offering to customers.
They no longer have half of the food theyre promoting on their website and regular menus. No fish fry on fridays, no gouda mac and cheese etc...
Fantastic food and great service! The cauliflower crust flatbread was amazing! My husband had the Local Platter and absolutely loved it! This is a definite must when visiting Buffalo.
Visited during lunch and experienced quick and friendly service. I had the Beef on weck due to a recommendation by someone who lived locally and I definitely did not regret it at all. Whenever I visit Buffalo again, Local will be on my places to visit again.
As an out-of-towner, I chose the local plate to experience the flavors of Buffalo. First, this is an excellent meal and I liked all of it. Not the biggest buffalo wing person, these were excellent. (5 different sauces available, I chose medium.) There was a nice crunch underlying the sauce. The french fries are cut differently than I have ever seen and did not get soggy in the basket.
We had our daughters communion catered by Kim from Local Kitchen. To describe the service and food in one word...AMAZING! Our guests were so impressed and really enjoyed their meal, which as a host is always the goal. I strongly recommend you give them a try for your next catering need. We will definitely call them again!Melissa T 5/21/18
Always nice to visit my WNY friends... unfortunately, an unpleasant experience can spoil a trip. I’ve always thought having a customer-only bathroom policy was a terrible idea for any business, but this place took it to a whole new level. While my friend was grabbing a bite to eat at the takeout place next door after a long drive, I went searching for a restroom and found myself at this unfriendly tavern. I was greeted by a 95-pound, bearded (possibly prepubescent) hipster bartender who informed me that I needed to buy something to use the bathroom. No problem. I bought a beer. This was a Sunday, mind you — and there were maybe four people in the whole place. My friend came in to meet me and I tried to politely ask if he could have his meal while I finished my forced $7.50 pint purchase. “He can’t eat that in here,” the barkeep squeaked. Now, I really feel like this diminutive man could have been a little more accommodating and personable. I would have gladly bought a meal myself and asked for a plate for my friend, but this overcompensating man-child would have none of it. On the way out, this walking Napoleon complex shouted some inappropriate remarks and we responded in kind.
The food is awesome and reasonably priced. The service was great. Loved the atmosphere. I will be back.
Food is fresh and very good. Been there twice and not disappointed. They have wonderful restaurant week menu specials!
Everything was amazing from start to finish!! The very minute we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who immediately cleared and wiped a table to seat us instead of waiting for it to be bussed (although someone was right behind her ready to do it). We were promptly greeted by our server. When we expressed that the table was a bit wobbly, 3 different people came over to adjust and make sure it was to our liking. The menu is quite extensive and everything sounded so delicious we had trouble deciding; great beer and cocktail list as well. The owner came to the table more than once, but it was spaced out enough that you felt cared about and not uncomfortably bombarded at all. The food tasted just as amazing as it sounded. Our server Tom was probably the best server I have ever had - extremely knowledgable about everything, super nice, and also very attentive without being overbearing. And to top it all off, their premise is as the namesake indicates - food and beverage as local as you can get. The owner really knocked it out of the park on this one. Staff, menu, and overall experience is definitely 2 thumbs up....if I had more than 2 thumbs they would be up as well. Buffalo needs more places like this! I highly recommend this place to everyone, and I will most definitely be back!!!! 👍
The food was amazing! The blooming onion chicken was out of this world! So good. Received compliments from everyone on the meal, they loved it all! Every single person from Kim to the delivery men were so helpful and made sure that all of our needs were met. Would definitely use them again and will be recommending them to others!
Great, friendly staff. Good food. Awesome place to stop in for a bite and a drink (or a few).
We went on a Saturday night with a group of 8. They took reservations which is great. We sat immediately and our waitress came right away. Drinks were great, but the food was fantastic. A few people got the chicken stuffed with goat cheese and cranberries. I would highly recommend it. A few people got burgers and they said they were great. I heard great things about the bacon wrapped meatloaf. We also ordered 30 wings with 3 different sauces. I loved the black and blue! We will be going back
Had lunch with a friend. Ahi Tuna salad was amazing. I love it when ordering a salad is such a treat. Beautifully presented with dressing on the side. Tuna was perfectly cooked and lightly seasoned. Wow! Owner Peter even stopped by to say hi. Always an appreciated touch. Another amazing Buffalo culinary find!
The tacos sounded cool till I waited to order for 40 minutes with a half empty bar.
They have a great, local beer selection. Service was a little hit or miss, especially given it wasnt very busy when we went. Wings were good - just a little upset that the ghost pepper-based sauce wasnt hotter. Bathrooms were clean.
Have some beef on wack sliders and they were good, also it was cool because they have all the local beer, so you can taste all the beers on one place, we still went bar hopping.
Went for a company gathering. Great food and prompt staff. One of the good bars downtown.
Local Kitchen & Beer Bar were fantastic to work with! Our office is located around the corner from the restaurant and we eat there frequently. Service is great - menu is unique and fresh. We had a grand opening Event last month and they catered for us. Kim & Peter were so easy to work with - it is obvious they have been doing this for many years. Food was great, service staff felt like part of our business family! I would highly recommend them! Will use them again for future events.
Good food. Quick friendly service. Not expensive compared to the surrounding bars. Would go again.
Great food. Great service. Awesome people work there. Very friendly.
I used Local to cater the Buffalo Corporate Challenge for my company. They were extremely easy to work with and very responsive. There were plenty of food options providing a well rounded catering experience. The food came at the requested time, hot and fresh. Couldnt have asked for a better catering experience for a large corporate event!
Nice beer selection and interesting and good food.
Solid place! What more can be said, if youre looking for a place with above average food, good drinks and friendly service then check em out. Been here twice and been satisfied both times.
The place was practically empty, and we waited 1.5 hours before eventually having to leave, and never got our food. Service was beyond slow even for just getting drinks. The kitchen was extremely loud and disturbing. The bathrooms werent clean at all. Even with a reservation we couldnt get a plate of food. The staff was not able to handle a restaurant business.
Great place, food and bar staff were very friendly. We came here a few times as we really enjoyed it. Thanks again!
Dont go if you need to be somewhere at a certain time. We showed up at 5:15pm before a Sabres v. Leafs game and were seated right away. Our waitress told us to get our orders in ASAP so we did. Ordered an app and our entrees, along with our drinks. Drinks showed up 10 minutes later, which is fine, I get it, they were busy. I am 8 months pregnant, to note, and we sat there until 6:30pm without even receiving our appetizer. When the waitress brought it, I asked about the entrees and she said it would be any minute. Our poutine appy was really good, thank God. We waited until 6:50pm, still had not received our entrees, already knew we were going to be late to the game, and told the waitress we had to go. She asked if we wanted them packed up (which they were going to charge us for the entrees still)... I declined. The waitress comped the appetizer and brought us the bill for a coke and a manhattan, which made us even more late while we sat there and waited for her to charge our card. Look, Im not looking for a free meal here... but for taking 2 hours for a drink and an appetizer, I wouldve expected to be compd so we couldve just ran to the car and made it to the game as quick as possible. I definitely wont ever be going back, but the appetizer was pretty good at least.
We came across this pub on accident, and Im so glad we did! The drinks were strong (pineapple martini was yummy), and the local beef on weck with wings (Thai sauce was a sweet choice) was so delicious! If we go back to Buffalo, wed eat here again. Our server was also really friendly. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because they were out of pretzel buns for the Delaware chicken sandwich.
Excellent food! Price is very good compared to nearby restaurants. The beer and spirit list is decent and the staff is very friendly. Do yourself a favor and get the Rick James you wont regret it.
This has become my favorite restaurant in downtown Buffalo. The service is great, food is fantastic as are the cocktails. Love their appetizers!!
Short rib puff pastry pastry was divine. The service was great .
Little loud, but food was good, staff is friendly and the beer selection is impressive
For lunch the day before Christmas, the place was pretty chill. Good music, good food, but if you get wings ask for them extra crispy.
Great selection of beers with an even better serving staff.
We waited 45 minutes for our food and eventually had to ask the kitchen to cancel the order. The meals hadnt even been started yet and the place wasnt that busy. The waitress was good about it and didnt charge us for our drinks so we appreciated that.
Local Kitchen provided our volunteers for a Community Engagement event at Praxair with dinner. The Vice president who runs this event asked for me to specifically order the meal from you. Everything was delicious - the Tangy Chicken and Beef Marsala were a huge hit. Everything was hot and delicious! Thank you again for making me look good!
Amazing pub pretzels and fries! must get the queso dipping cheese for both! the best pub queso I have found yet
Good food and great beer selection. We had very friendly service, nice recommendations and a fun atmosphere.
Very tasty food, decent portion size. Staff was extremely friendly. We went as a family on a whim, will definitely be back.
Local Kitchen catered for our daughters first birthday party. The food was great, everyone kept asking us where we got it from! Kim was also very friendly and helpful when we were choosing the menu. I would recommend them to anyone!
Amazing food, great selection if beers and wonderful staff
Decent selection and cool shape/layout of the bar. Rude service for the second time in a row. Too bad given the definite positives.
So good we went twice in one weekend in town. Staff was great too.
Food was good. Nice selection of local favorites
The food is off the hook good. The beer selection is great and the manager Mike is super nice. Did I mention the food is fantastic? Its a must if your in Buffalo
5 overall - good atmosphere, good decorations.5/5 food -Ordered the nickel city mac and cheese (5/5). Delicious, good presentation.5/5 serviceService was very attentive, they refilled my drink promptly as I finished it, they were very polite.
If youre looking for an awesome restaurant in downtown Buffalo, this is the place to be. Authentic Buffalo feel in everything from the beer selection to the ambiance. While I was in Buffalo for the weekend, my boyfriend and I decided to eat lunch here. Im super happy we did because the whole intent of the restaurant is to emphasize the beauty and feel of Buffalo, New York. The draft beer selection is made up of 40 beers all within 40 miles of the restaurant, and all of the wood inside was reclaimed wood from an old local barn. The only reason I gave a 4/5 star rating was because I didnt realize my stuffed pepper appetizer would be as spicy as it was so that was a little difficult to eat, but the cheese and sauce were both so delicious. My boyfriend got the angus burger that he really enjoyed. I would definitely recommend the Flying Bison/Spot Coffee beer - its incredible.
My work gets food catered from here about once a month. My Lord its the best food around. That chicken is incredible. Peace!
I got the wings and they were outstanding! Crispy, light on the sauce, and served (heat) hot! You won’t be disappointed with anything on their menu..
A fantastic place with a wide selection beverage and delicious food. The buffalo chicken wing dip is awesome 👌
Very fresh food. Excellent service. Pub like atmosphere.
Great food.. friendly service.. reasonable prices..I plan on making this a regular stop
Awesome food and friendliest staff ever ! Great experience!
I work there but its a very nice place to eat and drink and hang out with friends
Good food and atmosphere. Mike the GM made sure everything was tip top. Highly recommend.
The food was ok, service was very good. They really need to fix all the spelling errors on the menu. Its extremely unprofessional.
Bartender didnt seem to care at all was not helpful we asked what kind of drinks he would recommended he didnt have an answer. After one drink we left he was more interested in talking to the order bartender than serving the costumers at the bar.
I love the great bartenders and wait staff, love the amazing selection of beers, and would eat there every day if I could. Great food at a great price!
Beautiful inside. Great beer choices and delicious food. Huge servings. Lovely staff. Very attentive.
We came on a Saturday night for restaurant week and had an unpleasant experience. The atmosphere was really great, however the food wasnt. Our drinks came out right away, but we waited 45 minutes for our appetizer- no salad. The appetizers were really good, but two minutes after they came out- our entrees and salads came out with it. My husband got the chicken and biscuit- the biscuit was bland and dry. I got the Cheektowaga polka- my beef was dry and the pierogi was cold. We ate our salads last and the croutons tasted like there was a chemical taste to them which ultimately sealed the deal for our experience. The server came to our table to apologize, but that was it. For a place that seemed like it had so much potential, our experience there left us feeling underwhelmed. Clumsy staff and sub par food, I had my hopes up and was let down.
Another bar featuring a wide array of craft beers, you say? So what makes this one so special? The food for one. The night I went I orderrd their chicken panini with bacon and avocado and it was made to perfection. Biggest buzz is their Sunday Brunch of which I foolishly have not had but will partake soon. Come in for the beers (the screen detailing the beer menu is fun to read if you have no clue what beer to try) stay for the food. Nice spot in the former Crocodile Bar on the corner or Delaware and Chippewa next to Jims and Spot.
Great food.Strong drinks.Fast service.
Outstanding beer, wings, service, and experience. Everytime I visit Local, the servers/bartenders recommend great drinks and food off of the menu. Great experience and location for meals, drinks, and socializing.
Food was good, busy area on a Saturday night! Service was ok. Parking here would be very difficult, we walked from the train station and then took an Uber back to the hotel.
Stopped in here recently and had a great time. Only had a few beers and shots, but the service was good and they were very welcoming.
Finally ate here for the first time during Local Restaurant Week and their food was amazing! Awesome variety of whats on tap too!
Very nice place, large selection of local beers
Stopped in for a drink, cool feel, good service, enjoyed the flat bread pizza too
Spent the majority of my free time in Buffalo here. Amanda took very good care of my friends and I. Beer is somewhat expensive ($6.50 for a pint on average). Was worth it though.
Great to see good operators in the district. Owner cares...was nice to to meet him. Will be back soon.
Great staff, food, environment, Atmosphere, and good theme. No complaints here
Still satisfied my st patties needs 2020
Brunch was very good. Great food and service
Really good tap list. The lunch specials are pretty good and a decent value.
Great list of beers on draft with a cool atmosphere. Will definitely be back
Been a couple of times now and the food doesnt disappoint. Fries are worth the trip alone.
Nice place, good food, great service.
The food and service is always consistently good here. The restaurant was oddly busy for a weeknight and consequently very loud when last I went but the bartenders were still so attentive, personable and even apologetic about the noise that it didnt detract from the evening one bit.
