Those people are fantastic they know what theyre doing they really know how to style hair to make it the way you want it. Its a five-star salon. I had my ladys hair cut, colored and styled, wet and dry, and I had happy tears at the end of it, because she looks soo attractive. I would highly recommend them to any ladies or gentlemen.

In my opinion, it takes some searching over the web, thoughtfulness and good communication to find a great stylist. The first time I had my hair done by Jamal, I did not get too specific about what I wanted but gave him a high level idea as I was unsure and nervous. However, I got exactly what I asked for and realised that Jamal had great skills. The second time, I told him in detail what I wanted and showed him a pic from a magazine lying around to give a feel of what I wanted. I was amazed right after my haircut then, and am still amazed fifty days after my haircut as to how beautifully my hair has grown out even with much volume. I could very well say that my second hair cut with Jamal is the best haircut I’ve got in my life so far and definitely better than the haircuts my stylist for five years had given me before.Jamal is a skilled hairstylist and a successful entrepreneur, thanks to his skills in the trade and in the business. I went to Brooklyn Barber Academy today for the first time. I read most of the reviews before going in (which are resoundingly positive), and decided to give it a try. Even though the online booking agent will not allow you to book same day appointments (this is a problem), I was able to walk in at the right time and got seated by Stacy.She did a FANTASTIC job. I mean, one of the best cuts Ive ever had. If you like your hair cuts to be tailored by someone who you can tell genuinely cares about every move she makes, then you want to go and have her cut your hair. I will be back, no doubt.Also, I watched Jamal give a cut and banter with a customer. I can tell he is a legitimately caring dude. He seemed to care about his customers and gave a guy what looked like a really nice cut too.If youve been shopping around for that steady barbershop relationship, then you obviously havent been here. Dont waste your time going to those corporate turn and burn places. There really is something to be said about talent, craftsmanship, and quality output when it comes to haircuts. Brooklyn Barber Academy is the only place Ill get my haircut in Boulder. My first cut in Boulder was a very mediocre hair cut at an overpriced and super bourgeois barbershop on Pearl street. Jamal does a great job. Hands down one of my favorite spots. Worth the money. That said Im only giving 4 stars for a couple reasons. The phone number is pointless. Nobody ever answers and its a generic greeting, youre not even sure you called the right number. And the other reason is booking an appointment cant be done within a week or even 2 weeks- if youre not on the books, it is really hard to find a time slot in a reasonable amount of time so you have to constantly stay on it.

This place is definitely the best haircut I’ve had in boulder. Even when giving sort of vague ideas of what I want for my hair Stacy has ALWAYS delivered an awesome look. It’s a real shame they had to move locations but I still feel like I’m really a part of a community when I go in.

Stacey was nothing but an absolute pleasure. She’s a great person to talk with and have never seen someone put so much time and care into my hair. She even stayed an hour past her normal closing time just to make sure I was completely happy with the cut. First off, anyone looking for an african american black barber who cuts black people hair (along with white) in the Boulder area, this is the place you wanna go. Jamaal is a godsend. Does good fades, very professional and engaging, model citizen, just all around good people.

Really liked this place! Unfortunately it was almost impossible to find. They have no sign and didnt answer the phone when I called to get directions. My maps app didnt help much either. Eventually I called the stylist and got directions. But maybe this is just all part of the experience. If thats the case then I think they should have a code word at the door and a little entrance thats just a meat locker. A door person could hand you a written quiz on bat anatomy and then grade it. Once youve passed the quiz you can get your dope haircut and leave through a side exit. So yeh, good luck finding this place.

Love the Brooklyn Barber Academy. It is solid, honest - and most importantly - a place to get a great cut and beard trim. Ja’Mal and Stacy especially give great a great cut and are just really good people. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

My old barber, Tony at everyones hair, closed up shop. I decided I needed to find a new barber. Jamal was on his game and gave me an excellent cut today. Ive been living in Boulder since 2004. Ive been to more than a dozen barbers and hair stylists. Jamal is easily the best. Hes attentive to detail, an excellent listener and a very likable person. I have thick curly hair that is difficult for many barbers, and I until I found this place I often left haircuts disappointed. Now Im getting compliments after. Its the only place Ill go. I just wish I remembered to schedule before I needed the haircut rather than afterwards. Jamal is popular and he is often booked out a week in advance.

Ja’mal is a hidden treasure. When I decided to cut my hair into a silver undercut, I knew the wrong stylist could make me look ridiculous (or charge me a fortune). All I wanted was someone who could give me a reasonably priced, classy cut every 2-3 weeks. What I got was a look that makes me feel sharp and stylish despite my salt and pepper locks. I trust Ja’mal to always keep me looking fierce but feminine without spending a ton of money for a 30-minute cut. Just had my first Brooklyn Barber Academy cut today, and Jenna was fantastic. She asked a ton of questions about my hair and what I wanted, to make sure I understood my options. She was also okay with me throwing up my hands and saying I trust you. :) She gave my long, straight blond hair a natural, swingy, easy care cut that I love, with lots of movement, and did a fantastic blow-out. She also gives a super relaxing scalp massage, and both she and JaMal were very personable. Loved the Motown in the background too.

He does an awesome haircut and it always looks good.He just moved salons and it is impossible to find him! It makes it that much better when you do.
