Had a great first visit! David was incredibly helpful, attentive to detail, and willing to change new things as he went. He was also great for conversation :). They did a 1st-timer discount for me, which I think was just a couple dollars. Boulder haircuts always seem to be expensive, but this one at least felt worth it.

I am embarrassed to admit it has taken me this long to write a review. I have gone to Als for the better part of two decades (between Denver and Boulder) and there has not been a single hair out of place. The shop is clean and professional and the staff has never disappointed. I have gone to Al specifically and would consider him a friend of the family after so many years and so many impeccable hair cuts.If you are looking for a fantastic haircut for an amazing price, Als is worth a drive from anywhere in the Denver/Boulder area.

I have been going to Al’s for a few months now. The main reason for my transition from my previous barber, to Al’s, was for a barber, Colter. Colter is extremely talented at his craft, is personable with his clients, and is always on time. Furthermore, his work station is always clean and sanitary, and I feel comfortable knowing that he takes pride in his work and maintains the tools needed to provide high caliber services. I recommend Al’s Barbershop as a relaxing and comfortable environment to maintain your hair, and specifically, Colter, for his attentiveness to detail and outgoing personality!

After having my hair literally butchered by a bad barber, it has been a relief to have found a hair home at Als. They fixed the bad cut, and I have gone back three times since and they have gotten me back to the style and cut I prefer. Stellar staff and high end shop. You can come knowing who ever you see you will leave taken care of and happy. Al and his staff are trained in the latest techniques and practice under one of my favs American Crew, and are well versed in the latest trends. Not just some old school shop turning out cookie cutter fades. Appreciate you guys, keep spreading the beauty!

I had a wonderful experience here. Like people have said, this is a barber shop, not a salon. Yes, the price is 31 dollars, but you get a %20 discount (26 dollars) on your first trip here. Plus, this is a full experience: you arent just getting your hair cut. They are going to massage, wash, and cut your hair to the best style for your face and head in general. They then wash it again, and you have the option to have gel place into your hair.The stylists are very sweet, and are also well train in their craft. I love the haircut that they gave me, and I had a wonderful conversation with my stylist on different subjects that made the time fly by.If you are going to do this, I would recommend you make an appointment with them so you dont need to wait nor go on the luck of the draw by just walking in. They do accept walk-ins, may we add, but the place is generally busy, so having an appointment makes the experience that much smoother.Overall, a five star place for me. I will be returning every month to get my hair fixed up here, and will look forward to it each time.

For simple men’s haircuts, Al’s will usually give you a good haircut at a fairly high price. Although there are less expensive places to find more dependable results, you also aren’t likely to get a bad haircut at Al’s.

Ive been going to Als for ~ 8 years now. Ive tried a few different barbers from time to time, but nothing compares to the quality of cuts here. The staff is skilled, personable, and pays close attention to your style and requests. Als is the best!

This was my first time into Als, I had read a lot of good things online about them when I was searching for a barber. At first the price threw me off just a little when I read the reviews, but let me tell you, it is worth every penny. My stylist, Marissa, was extremely nice and definitely knows exactly what she is doing. All I had to do was give her some idea about the length -short but not too short- and she knew exactly what she wanted to do. 30$ gets you excellent service here and I plan on setting an appointment monthly with Marissa. If you really want to look good, Id suggest you do the same with any of the stylists.Again, wonderful visit, HIGH recommendation from me.

I have been visiting Als Barber Shop for years now. Al always takes the time to understand my needs and offer suggestions for the look Im going after. Hes an extremely experienced and capable barber - in my opinion, hes the best in the Boulder/Denver area, for sure.

The best haircut that Ive gotten in Boulder. People are awesome in there, and the place is really cool too. Id have to say though its a little expensive. $36 a cut. Hands down you get what you paid for.

I have been to this shop a total of four times in the last year. My first experience I thought was great! I received a haircut from a lady whom was from their other store in Denver. That first experience is what got me to come back.My third and fourth experiences were not great. My third experience I asked for a razor fade. I love the clean feel. One of the two barbers there gave me a less than mediocre fade. I could see the blend was patchy on the back of my head. I really didnt enjoy her smelling of cigarette smoke either as she continued to breath on me the entire time. It was a really negative experience.For that reason this week I called and made it clear of what happened the last time I was their and I asked for someone else. Enters the other barber of two that are available at this store. I arrived ten minutes early and had a seat. I observed everyone in the room and just hung out for a bit. I noticed a lady from the back dart out the front door before having a quick conversation with the receptionist. From the look of it she was alerted I was there early. She sighed and said something and continued out the front door. She comes back momentarily. I deduce she went for a quick smoke as she introduces herself to me and has me sit down. The smell of smoke is fresh and overwhelming. Shes chewing on a piece of gum... She asks me what I want to have done. I tell her I want a razor fade. There was absolutely NO conversation after that and I got to enjoy the symphonies of chewed gum and cigarette smoke for the rest of my time at Als Barbershop. I left irritated and in a little bit of pain.I picked up my wife and then learned how bad the back of my head looked. I would post a picture but there isnt an option. I had multiple cuts on the back of my head. One of which hasnt healed yet after three days. My wife had called, furious, the front desk to notify them of what happened. I received a phone call from the owner the next day apologizing to me that I wasnt happy with my haircut and that I would receive a refund. The owner never asked me why I wasnt happy or what had happened.

Made an appointment, called in saying Id be late. Was told it would be no problem. Wasnt until after arriving and being told to wait that they let me know that they wouldnt cut my hair after all. Wasted my time, I wont be going back.

Firstly, this is a salon, NOT a barbershop. Babers cut hair dry and salons wash hair beforehand. My hair cut ended up looking great, although, in describing how I wanted it cut I mentioned a 1930s haircut style and she ha no idea what I was talking about. It was a touch expensive, but a good experience overall.

Majority of my scheduled appointment Ive had the past 4-6 months starts 10-15 mins late. Its the hill, its a college town, I get it and never voiced a concern.The one time Im 5 mins late, I call 11 mins before slotted time to give a heads up Im on the way - that call was civil and it was indicated as a non- issue just try and get here around then. You should be good. I’ll notify your hairdresser”I then get a return call a few mins following (7 mins before slotted time) this time - the tone changes and it’s stated if its any more than 10, the entire cut gets cancelled. Thats it. That was uncessary and the threat to cancel after telling me it was totally ok was contradictory to the initial call. To re-iterate, most past appointment here never starts on time. Even walk-in wait times at the Denver location have been 10 mins + off. Double standard or bad front desk, it’s onto Al to determine.Nothing wrong with the haircut. Just expected better front desk service and expectation management. I realize I may not be the ideal client, expecting appointments to start on time and not get screwed mid drive to the location especially when I’ve tolerated delays with my appointments. I thought that’s what you pay the premium for here.
