We really enjoy living here! We are in a renovated unit which is super nice. The assistant property manager, Bobbie, is who we worked with to get established here and she was lovely & very kind! Everyone here is! Maintenance is incredibly responsive, kind & efficient! Overall, we have no complaints. The clubhouse and shared facilities/amenities are great and I appreciate the community theyve built here. Very welcoming and comfortable.

I feel good today. I renewed my lease at my apartment for a 15 month term and for me this is one of my greatest accomplishments. I’ve never lived in the same place for more than a year. I bounce around a lot but to be able to finally feel safe enough to call a place my home and make it my safe space is so beautiful and humbling for me.I have amazing neighbors, a beautiful community, and room to breathe. My dogs are also happy And they too have made friends here. I continually count my blessings and will always try to remain humble.I love my life and I am happy.

I lived there for about a year and a half. Overall, I would say they are a good apartment complex. The front desk staff are the best.Cons: They made changes to the requirement for renters’ insurance MID-LEASE. This is what caused us to move out. They had always required proof of insurance, however mid-lease they decided to force us to list them as ‘interested party’ on our insurance. If we did not comply, they would force us to go on their insurance, which was twice my current rate. They also did not accept my first form showing that they were added as ‘interested party,’ forcing my insurance agent to create a new form that they then accepted. We were charged erroneously multiple times. Once we caught the charges, they would reverse them, however as this happened at least three times, with one of them being $180, we were forced to closely monitor our charges each month.Pros: Great amenities, the pools are GREAT and typically few people are using them. They have a gym, spinning room, golf room, indoor basketball. They also have a community room that you can use or rent out for a special occasion. They are also located in a convenient location. The front desk staff are very friendly, and nice to talk with.

I truly could not be happier at The Tarnhill! The amenities are amazing, sure, and the rooms are large and pricing is competitive, but those aren’t the best part. The management is really the reason I love living here. In just the first 9 months of my time here, they’ve upgraded the laundry, upgraded the package delivery system, constantly updated Covid policies to comply with the recommendations of health experts, held events (socially distanced) for residents, and so much more. The office staff are always willing to help you with questions, and they typically respond to emails within a few hours. This is by far the best apartment I’ve ever had!

Tarnhill apartments have a lot of fun amenities if thats what youre looking for. The location is great with lots of shops close enough to walk to. I enjoyed my 10 year stay at Tarnhill. I did feel that the building was kept better maintained when Sharon the original office manager was there. The caretakers now only clean once a week even during the Covid-19 epidemic. The office staff is helpful when you can reach them.

We have had an all around great experience at The Tarnhill! The maintenance and management team is exceptional. We have lived here around 3 years and we have ran into no issues and have loved how well the grounds is maintained. They have a great recreational area that we have used the whole time we have lived here and each building has nice heated underground parking(awesome in the winter). Would highly recommend to anyone in the area, huge shoutout to management for treating us exceptionally well! This place is a great value and great quality. Will miss it here!

I have not moved in yet, but my first impressions have been nothing but great. The location is beautiful, with lots of amenities. The workout area in particular was very impressive to me. The tenants I have seen/interacted with have all seemed nice and happy with living here. Most importantly, the staff have been extremely friendly and welcoming, particularly Jennifer. She had multiple units available to rent, and made sure my roommate and I were completely satisfied with the unit we chose. I am very much looking forward to being a resident here!

Office management are pretty damn good, Ive had hardly any complaints and the ones I had I managed to get resolved fairly quickly and in a way that was handled well. Its not a bad place to get back on your feet, they also have a well rounded amount of amenities. I had a life changing moment in 2014 and suddenly found myself back to renting an apartment. I had just adopted a pup and it was not an option to give him up. I was not familiar with this area at the time and had decided to call them based on the fact that they were animal friendly. Im glad I did as they welcomed us with open arms. We started off in a small apartment and then upgraded to a larger one once they had been remodeled. Each time I moved, the office personal were very accommodating with my schedule and needs. In a nutshell, I like it here!We have secured buildings, underground parking, a dog park, indoor/outdoor pool, 24 hour gym, indoor basketball court, golf simulator, charcoal/gas grills and 3 nice patio areas. Also there is a community room that can be rented out for events, and it can also be utilized to play pool or enjoy a baseball game with some friends on a big screen. My neighbors are friendly and my pup gets the opportunity to play with other dogs. I plan to be here for a while and to me this is a great home base for what this area of Bloomington has to offer.Hats off to the office crew for making this community such a great place to live!

I have been living at The Tarnhill for about 3 months. At first, the community was not what I expected and I was not optimistic about my year-long lease. I was caught up on aesthetics (the age of the building and window units in lieu of central heat and air), the smoking policy (smoking is allowed in apartments), and wanting more luxury for what I pay. I also had concerns about lingering pet odors in my apartment. However, after expressing my concerns to management, they really surprised me! I was contacted directly by the Property Manager, and she quickly began to explore options until the odor was resolved. When I was going through the leasing process, I must have caught some of the staff at a bad time, because a few of them rubbed me the wrong way. Id even vowed to stay out of the office to avoid conflict from someone having an attitude. However, since moving in and living here a few months, theyve been really nice. In just 3 months, they know me by name and greet me warmly every time I visit the office to pick up a package, or if we cross paths in the community. Regarding smoking, theres nothing that I can do about that, so Im taking it in stride. Thankfully, I dont smell it in my apartment very often - just in the hallways. I enjoy having a fitness center that has more than a few pieces of equipment, so that I dont have to get a gym membership. The pool area (1 indoor and 1 outdoor) and sauna are also nice. I hope that Im not jinxing myself, but one of the things I love the most is the quietness of my building - at least the section that Im in. I almost never hear my neighbors and only hear pets barking when I open my windows. Other than that, I enjoy being able to come home to a peaceful environment. I recently had a few friends over who really liked my apartment and the amenities. Their comments made me appreciate what I have, especially the proximity to work (less than 5 minutes)! We will see how things go for the rest of my lease (which is why I only gave 3 stars), but as of now, I think I have it pretty good and should stay put, instead of looking for another apartment next year.

I live here about 1 year and 3 months and until the renewal of my rent, it was good. First, I was disrespected by a Janitor because I went to the Party Room earlier that it was rented by me. The party room is open for everybody who lives here, when it is available. I wasnt closing that, I just was there like everybody else can be, and She was really rude, screamed and embarrassed me in front of other people. At this opportunity, Bobbie, who works at the Office, apologized to us.And now, about 2 weeks ago, I had a box delivered by Post Office stolen. The carrier said it was delivered at the Offices mailbox, and after 1 week of the declared delivery day, We found the box, violated, empty, close by a recycle trash in another building inside of the complex. There were security cameras, and I asked many times for help from the Office, but I just heard from there is, it takes a lot of time too much work.I am really impressed by the treatment that they are giving to the residents. Its really sad and, even though I like to live here because of the structure, I will look forward to move, as soon as possible.

Ive read many bad reviews about this place. But Im glad I took a chance and moved here anyway. Staff here are friendly and maintenance is quick to respond. I like my building and my unique layout of my unit. Most issues people have here youd have at any place. Theres really only one problem I have and thats the smelly garage. Plumbing leaks or something more often than not and its just gross, but a smelly garage is better than no garage right? Im planning on staying here until I buy a house. Also... After a year, Rent was only increased by $30/ month. Not bad if you ask me! Paying for water isnt awesome, but more and more places make you pay for more utilities nowadays. Now we have to pay for trash as well which kinda sucks, but its not that much. Im comfortable here, and thats what matters!

The office staff has been around since I was here prior. They have always been accommodating, friendly, and genuine. No place is perfect. But, its about the best bang for the buck that I have ever lived at when I have needed to rent an apartment. I would highly recommend it.

Uninformed staff failed to mention $300 in charges relating to moving out early above and beyond the one month payment I made to cover the early lease termination. The apartment never sat vacant and yet it cost me $1750 total to get out of my lease. If you modify the original terms of your lease get something in writing! Dont take a verbal agreement or you will learn the hard way like I did. You wont get your deposit back. You will owe money. Also, bring a blanket. I kept the heat on full blast all winter and never got the apartment warmer than 65 degrees. Opposite is true in the summer. I ran my AC constantly in 2 rooms to cool the place down. You either need to get used to the heat or the noise and electric bill.Renter beware.

I am very happy to be leaving this place after one year of residence. At first this place really caught my eye, and I thought many of the amenities are neat. But between their utilities contract with AUM(another, equally dreadful company to deal with), Office hours that change either monthly, or seasonally, but arent always posted in convenient areas to see, their insistence to call me at work, rather than send an email, which is how Ive contacted them throughout my lease so far, and now finally, a very minor thing, but still disappointing, their in-house laundry went from 56 minutes on low heat to 50 minutes, meaning clothing no longer dries properly. Its probably not as bad as Im making it out to be, but from my initial expectation based on my first interactions to what Ive experienced just one year later is a near quantum leap. When looking for a new place to live I specifically avoided anything managed by Steven Scott due to my experiences here.

I moved to the Tarnhill apartments less than a year ago and was surprised at how quickly and smoothly my application was processed and approved. I was impressed by the amenities- Spacious 1 BR, indoor/ outdoor pools, sauna, gym, etc. The excitement faded quite quickly. After moving in, my apt was obviously still dirty- dog/cat hair and urine on the base boards, smell of cig smoke and animal urine percolating from the carpet. As for the amenities, I most looked forward to the gym and the sauna- unfortunately the womens sauna does not seem to reach a high temp, some summer days it seemed warmer outside. If you are a single girl looking to rent here I would HIGHLY suggest to look elsewhere. Sunny, summer days where I tried to enjoy the outdoor pool were ruined by the multiple 50+ yr old men cat calling me- I am 22 yrs old. Cutting that short was a disappointment due to the fact that my wall unit A/C did not work properly even after two maintenance requests to fix or replace it. Multiple days of 90 degree weather plus humidity was torturous. The request to fix my peeling bathtub and replace the broken drain plug was also not addressed. For the price that they charge for the apartments here, I expect a high standard of professionalism that is lacking in the leasing consultant, Marissa Matos. As I was signing my notice to vacate, the lack of customer service was displayed. Her public social media confirms this incompetency. Upon potential new tenants viewing my apartment, lights were left on and fixtures were broken without notifying me. Overall, this apartment has treated myself along with other tenants like just another cog in the machine.

The one good point is that the office staff is nice. I can hear everything my upstairs neighbors are doing. They are not loud people - the building is just that poorly insulated. The hallways reek of cigarette smoke - most likely this is due to the poor insulation as well. I had to completely re clean the place when I moved in. The vertical blinds were streaked with stains and I removed a yellow film from the bathroom walls and cabinets. Painting was done but baseboards and door frames were neglected and I had to scrub the previous tenants stains off of them. The fan on the stove was full of hair and the cabinets were not painted and also stained (although I was promised the apt was newly painted). The laundry card system stole my money and I had to wait days to get it refunded. The reason for finally writing this review??? I just went into my shower after a trip to the gym. The water was ice cold. I called the office and they assured me they had been getting calls about this all day. They told me they had someone coming to look at it but they couldnt give me any estimate of when it would be fixed. Okay - its 2pm. Really??!! You have had all day but you cant tell me when I can expect to have a hot shower??? FAIL. As soon as my lease is up I am done with this stinky, ugly, dirty, loud, cold apartment complex.

I received an email about moving my car for snow removal in exactly 24 hours and 10 minutes. Im in the hospital with my newborn that was delivered via cesarean. I have responsibilities as a father and husband to be here to help with the baby so my wife can sleep between feedings. The first few days between parents and children are the most important of any familys beginning. They didnt seem to care when I called and want my car out of the lot on time. This means I have to leave my new family, get in my car, pay the parking fee (which becomes way more expensive the second I leave and come back,) drive to the apartment to park and move my car, then I have to walk from where ever I park it back to my other car and go back to the paid hospital parking lot. This is the last straw. I know I could physically get there and do it but what if I were out of town? All she said is we gave you ample notice, youll have to move it. And this from the office person I like. So sorry this is long but Im frustrated. My main complaint about this place over all is the handicap parking situation and the main 5230 entrance. Its always icy. They salt enough to turn it wet so it can pool up and refreeeze right in front of the walkway making it even more dangerous. They need to CHOP it and REMOVE it. THIS IS UNSAFE! My wife with multiple sclerosis has slipped and complained numerous times. All they do is say theyll let their keeper know which does nothing. We also once had a reparations guys say hed be back to fix our outlets and he never came back. Then they had this HUD inspection even though this isnt a HUD property. They came and told me I could have all the extension cords. When I told them why I had them (because only a few of my outlets work) they told me it was my fault I hadnt put in a work order. I could go on and on. At 1150 for a 2 bed or 1300 for a renovated 2 bed I should never have to worry about maintenance, safety or least of all rudeness. I could go on!
