Amazing views, Beautiful Location, adequate housing, quiet and secure!1. Pros:There are so many good things I can say about my time here. living at the Sheraton has been primarily a pleasure. The building is beautiful, the view is amazing, and the location is perfect.Victor, the building manager has been a wonderful person to work with and the maintenance manger Jim has always been easy to get ahold of and addressed my issues immediately. I am so glad to have lived here and had the opportunity to relax in such a peaceful and lovely part of Birmingham. The reasons I am leaving are 2 parts practical and 1 part personal., and Ill add a fair of amount of detail on the personal at the bottom so you dont have to sift through my irritated review.2. Cons:the practical reasons are this:Parking is hard, getting packages delivered is difficult, and people keep breaking the locks and propping the doors open to the building. The water pressure fluctuates and occasionally dies, and when I used hot water, I have to run it for a moment because the first minute or so is always rusty water.the walls in my apartment have been repaired multiple times and its a crazy mix of concrete, drywall, and plaster that is too weak to hang anything up on unless youre using Velcro. I was not able to put up curtains which kinds sucked because though the view was truly beautiful and amazing, my window was west-facing and my apartment heated up significantly during the day, and let in way too much light at night. That brings me to the second issue, The unit was absolutely filthy when i moved in. I had to wipe everything down,s weep, vacuum and bleach because I kept finding patches of mold in the many many many closets. This was combined with the window unit AC being ancient and filthy. I had to take the vents off, manually clean them off in bleach and wipe down the interior as far back as I could reach because it was covered in black-green mildew. It was also set at the worst possible angle to cool the apartment off, and the difference in heat between the rooms was impressive. the AC was also incredibly loud and made it hard to hear things like my tv, music, or general conversation let alone sleep.3. The personal reason:finally Ill talk about the personal issue. Back in December I was promoted and expected to take over a new and wide set of responsibilities at my work, requiring me to be there for around 12 hours a day for the next few months. I woke up to a serious water leak in my apartment. I immediately put in a work order, and left for work. As was normal, the maintenance guys came in and they called to let me know that they would need to bust in a hole in one of the walls to get to the broken pipe. Not sure how it happened, but in breaking down the wall, they coated my ENTIRE apartment in drywall dust. Every single think i owned was coated. My bed, my blankets, ALL of my clothing, dishes, electronics, and the AC unit was covered in dust. It literally made my life a misery for that entire month and set me back financially for the month. I had to clean in the few hours i was home during the day and when I asked for some kind of reparation for the amount of money i spent getting my clothes cleaned, (some of which needed to be dry cleaned, other disposed of.) the building manager, Jon Jeff, told me that this was the cost of living in a historic building. He failed to understand my complaint and seemed to think i was worried about the water stain on my carpet, and absolutely refused too make things right in any way or even apologize for the nightmare. He then, followed that up by going into my apartment without notice the monday after we spoke to look at the carpet. Had I known I wouldnt have spent my entire Sunday before hosing down my furniture in the bathtub and wiping down everything to clean off the remaining dust. Now I have been requesting a replacement AC unit as the one In my apartment is filled with drywall dust and has a horrible ammonia smell. I asked for this get to fixed in December and am still waiting.
I found a bad review....Need something else, even though I havent stayed there yet...
I love living hear every day sence I have moved in.
I and my family lived there 3 years ago for nine months. Nice and secure neighbourhood. Thank you David for all our help.
Sheraton laundry mat was excellent.had extra large capacity front loader machines that my queen size down mattress topper fit nicely.
I lived at Sheraton 3 years and loved it. Great neighborhood, right in between parks and close to Pepper Place Farmers Market. Always people out walking dogs or pushing strollers. Right above Rojo. The apartments are a bit older so if youre looking for washer/dryer in unit and new appliances this is not for you. Has a lot of storage. David is great about getting back to you if anything needs fixing.
Large apartments in a great location. Repairs take a while but have been living here for 2 years and love the area.
I have been coming here for years. No problems. I wish they would make a larger laundry room with an attendant.
