UPDATE TO THE OWNERS REPLY: Offering me (who has not did anything wrong) the option to break my lease early without penalty is not an solution to tenants who are STILL smoking weed in their apartments. You basically told me in an email that I can leave, but the issues will remain. I understand the generic reply/excuses, and all is well. ORIGINAL POST: I am giving this apartment complex a 1 star rating at the moment, because they are located in Homewood. However, it is still within the Bham city limits. It is close to plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, post office, etc. I have a 2 bedroom, 2 bath without washer/dryer connections. Rent is $845 and water is $75. You will pay $20 more for washer/dryer connections. My apartment has faux wood flooring, updated light fixtures, black appliances, and a balcony (view of the back of their sister property and trees are your view). They are pricey for the issues they have and dont fix. The apartments have plumbing issues, they are old, they have thin walls, and they have vehicles that fly thru the apartment complex blasting loud music at all times of day/night. Thank God the clubs are not operational. I would hate to live on the back row of these apartments. Timberchase uses Liberty Rent (which was helpful). I hate to say it, but Timberchase is ghetto at its best and hence that explains the shady characters Ive seen. Ive only lived here for a few months, but regret choosing this apartment over another one (my past credit kept me from getting a better deal). The MAIN reason for my 1 star rating is: the neighbors below me smoke weed in their apartment, and it seeps into my apartment. Ive smelled weed walking by their door. I seen Cigarillos laying outside their door, and relayed the info to Melanie. They are noisey too which is a bad combination. I have reported issues to the property manager several times, and nothing has really been done about it. SIDENOTE: I really believe Melanie knew about the weed issues before I moved in. I mentioned it when the apartment wreaked of weed upon the initial walk-thru. If anybody has sinus issues, Im sure weed would clear it up. Dont bother calling the SPM Regional manager, Kim. She will not do anything either, but make up excuses for the neighbors, blame what they cant do on the pandemic, and tell you to call the Courtesy Officer. NO NOTICE HAS BEEN SENT OUT YET per our discussion on 7.2.20. There is always trash strolled on top of and around the dumpsters. This is embarrassing & an eyesore. There is only one maintenance man I always see picking up other peoples trash off the ground. Why is there a sign stating there are cameras on property, but residents still place mattresses, furniture, and other items in/around the dumpster? Cats roam freely here too. My front door peephole has been scratched up since move-in. No sense of security there. No work orders will be done unless urgent (I wouldnt hold my breath on that either). I dont feel that Timberchase apartments value tenants who try to do the right thing. Nothing matters but money in most apartment complexes who are monopolies. They want you to pay your rent (which is what I do), but they will not fix any issues at hand. Timberchase only has a few reviews on their website. Please be aware that there are plenty reviews on other property rating/review sites that state the same issues for years. God bless everyone, I am going to pray for you all. No apologies needed, and dont tell me to call the office when you already know whats wrong at your apartment complex.
From day one I have had problems from mailbox issues to plumbing and the biggest in the he middle of summer air conditioning my apartment never drop below 80 degrees ever ...they sent the maintenance guy several times and he could not figure out the problem. My very first bill was over $300 and then the second and by the third it was up to $500 and Im paying full rent ..so after changing management and getting it fixed 7 months later after I have had to heat up my home with a stove ... After a real expert was called he told me to never leave the unit on it burn the building down so after all this and still paying rent on time Im being told the credit I was given needs to be refunded...but no one will say why it took 7 months to repair my problem and now they want me to leave I got that in a letter today... Im wondering if anyone else was asked who comes and goes to their home as if the are a criminal...or the Manager Jenn is Racist !! beware there was another tenant whos light bill got up to $700 so keep records but if you come here and Jenn is here run she is liar her favorite line is Im trying to help you...if you were trying to help do your job and find the paperwork that was given to your employee because I have proof I sent it why dont you manager???
I truly hates my living experience at Timberchase. The best thing about my time was the distance from my job. The rooms were too small. We had our vehicle broken into. Repairs needed that went undone. And every step my neighbors made we heard. Prices constantly went up with no changes made. I felt unsafe and unsupported. When it rained, it rained in my apartment and nothing was ever done about it. Sad thing about that is I lived on the first floor and reported it multiple times. The courtesy officer did nothing regarding safety or noise cause we constantly had reported issues. When I moved out I checked multiple times for a balance to make sure no charges were made. I get an email at work in the middle of the month alerting me they are charging me for moving out and it will go to collections 10 days later. How do you send a bill to collections 10 days after making it? And I never paid my rent late or had any reason to have something sent to collections by them. And to have the audacity to bill me without formal notification was totally unprofessional but this is what you get with them.
Please please do not move to Timberchase apartments throw the whole complex away . I am soooo so happy to be moving out in April I’ve hated my experience here since I moved last year we’ve even through 5 different managers no one knows what they’re doing I’ve had to go out of my way to pay for rent literally PAY FOR RENT they took the drop box away I try to go online the site doesn’t work one day it works I type my name in the system it doesn’t pop up!!! I get back in town took off work on a Monday so I try to go there to see if they can fix the site issue ITS LITERALLY SOME OTHER RANDOM PERSON IVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE it makes no sense . Please save yourself the trouble I always smell my neighbors food it’s terrible I’ve had water come out my ceiling no one does anything my dishwasher floods no one does anything . I’ve recorded video written letters they really do not care because they kno no one here can probably afford to take them to court but I am just gonna wait it out til I move. AGAIN DO NOT MOVE HERE
Overall this apartment complex is great. I am a grad student at UAB and distance is everything for me. One thing about the location is it is close to the campus of UAB, I can take the back way and get to school in under 5 mins! The noise level is ok for the most part, except for weekends if you stay at the back of the apartments. It is a club that plays very loud music that you can hear through your apartments walls.... other than that it is very quiet and lots of older neighbors so the noise level is always a minimum. My roommate and I have a two bed and two bath and it is a nice size for the price. Maintenance is the BEST at these apartments. He literally comes either the same day or the next day to fix the issue!!! Only bad thing are the trash and the mailbox. i hate coming through the apartment and the trash is freaking everywhere, its annoying and make the complex looks bad. My mailbox key almost never works, and it took about 3 months to get a new key. we spoke to them several times about it and they just told us to WAIT! It is very annoying and frustrating because I will have to always try to catch the mailman so they can open it. the staff seems to be okay, the switched staff a couple of times and weve gotten notices about late payments missing payments etc...(weve never were late nor missed any payments) they should have a better system with keeping up with things like that!!!Be careful with the price because it sometimes fluctuates....but overall it is a great apartment for first timers or an older couple.
I love living here!!
