Saw all of the negative reviews and figured I should post something a little bit more positive about the company. Used them about a year ago to find a rental house, told them the area that we wanted, price range, and we ended up renting the third place on the list. Signing everything was painless and while they may wear skinny jeans, at least they are tech savvy as the agent that came with us had an ipad / app that let us skip the usual photo copy a blank check / drivers license /background check stage that you often have to go through. Would definitely use them again.

This business is absolute garbage. They dont listen to when, where, or what you want. The places we toured, they were busy talking on the phone while we had to look around by ourselves. When we actually did find a place, we signed the lease, paid, and switched the electrical to our name. After that we had to hassle them to get our keys AND someone had lied to us and said the agent in charge of handling us had got in contact with us when she had not whatsoever.On a lighter note, there are employees that are 100% honest and will help you every step of the way, but dont expect them to be in charge of anything. Only the incompetent people are high on the totem pole. (Only in Birmingham)

Not a fan of this particular rental service and would never recommend it. Try Renters Assist instead!!! It is painfully obvious that the agents at Select My Space are being paid by commission, which I would have no problem with if it didnt drastically affect the way they do things. They are only interested in people who can get them a big commission and get them that commission fast. It is difficult to get in touch with the agents to work with them in the first place, and even when you do its difficult to get them to listen to your needs.Case in point: I used the website weeks ago in an attempt to search their listings and set up an appointment. I filled out the application on their site and never heard back from them. The other day, I called them directly to set up an appointment. I gave the listing agent (Glen) the information needed to gather a list of places that might fit me. He told me he would call back, then never did. Hours later, I ended up leaving work early so I called him again and set up an appointment that day to meet and go over what was available. When I got there, he had ignored my budget and forgotten that I have a pet. After I corrected him, he did another search for apartments in my price range, insisted that there were almost non available, and when he did find something he insisted that I have the application fee and deposit available the next day when we were set to go see the place. After I informed him that while I want to move into a new place soon, I was not looking to do so that quickly, he told me he would call me today with more information and an appointment to see that particular apartment. He never called me back. I contacted Renters Assist instead today and not only did they answer immediately, they found a good selection of apartments within my price range in the exact same area that the Select My Space agent stated there werent any open apartments.You are better off using another company or just doing the work yourself!

What a great help ask for Ramona she was able to do in three hours what I couldnt do in two weeks and find the right complex for me

This is a highly unprofessional service. They try to be, but its not going to happen unless they start hiring individuals who are also professional. But that is the problem...they only pay commission based on what the Leasing Specialist sales. Maybe if they offered an hourly rate, or even a company car (which would look WAY more professional by the way), they may get decent employees and be a decent company. They are not! The ones who lounge around in the office are the ones who make the good money and the ones out in the streets having to lie to people to get them moved into an apartment are the ones bringing home MAYBE $50-$100 EVERY FEW DAYS. STAY AWAY, THESE PPL ARE CROOKS! HOW DO I KNOW? I WORKED FOR THIS COMPANY..THEY WOULD NEVER PROMOTE ME BECAUSE I DIDNT BELIEVE IN THEIR SYSTEM

I have called this company 6 times now, and I have emailed them twice. I have spoken to a receptionist twice, who said someone would call me, but so far, no such luck. It says on the website to only contact them if you are looking for a place in the next two weeks, but I would disagree, as I have been trying to reach them for a week so far. I am going to do everything I can not to have to use this company.
