This is a lovely little establishment with great customer service. over the summer last year my daughter decided that she was no longer going to play the viola we had rented from Austin Strings and so we decided to return it. But by the time we were able to return it the next month had already been charged on our credit card. Austin Strings took care of us and reimbursed us for that month even though they would have been in their rights to have kept the money.

I wouldnt go anywhere else. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and patient. They spend time with you. You can tell they are passionate about their instruments and craft. The best customer service!

Bow rehairs usually take a week at other places, but Austin Strings got mine done in just 1 hour! They use only the highest quality live stallion horse hair, and they also polished my frog and wood for no extra cost. There are many other string shops near me, but its worth the long drive to come here since its the best in North Austin.

Rude customer service, does not keep records of payments. Consider other options if you can. Also, I have not posted 3 reviews, so I’m not sure why they replied saying I was going against the Google Community guidelines while I’m trying to share my overall experience with this business after being a customer for over 10 years. Uncalled for, and unprofessional. I strongly urge parents to consider more reliable businesses when making a big purchase like an instrument.

Friendly and knowledgeable. We came here seeking a repair for my sons violin, thinking that maybe we needed a new bridge. They looked at it, identified that it was a simple fix, and declined to charge us anything for their time. Well be back the next time we need to buy accoutrements

Spectacular customer service. I am novice when comes to violins. Both ladies were extremely helpful and knowledgable. They tuned my daughters violin and were just outright genuinely friendly!

They made my cello for me and it is absolutely amazing. I love this store. Im a jazz musician here in town and have been coming here for years. Very affordable and trust worthy. Heres a great story... Remember the Bastrop fires years ago? Well it affected this family but they ended up making home made rosin from it that is AMAZING! you need to try this Moxie Rosin! They turned something Amazing from something bad. Way to go guys!

I used the rent to own for my son’s cello. I paid off the cello and purchased it for my son. The cello needed repairs so I took it back. I was not able to pick it up immediately due to the cost of the repairs because I was a single mother. Austin Strings loaned my sons cello out to somebody else and claimed I never paid it off. The owner claimed she had no record of the transaction which I see in her comment on someone else’s bad review. It broke my son’s heart to realize he never would never get his cello back again. I picked up a rental cello from this place, and Jennifer was such a pleasure. She educated me fully on an how to care for it and all the ins and outs. I did however wind up having to return it the next day to cancel my contract, because it wasnt the right gift, i called the next day, and they were willing to break my minimum 3 month contract, and refund me. Stellar service, and as soon as it is the right time, i will be returning to pick up a cello. Though im not a current customer, this place treated me like family. I reccomend this place to string musicians far And wide.

I played violin about 30 years ago (wow, has it really been that long?!!) for one year in middle school. I have always wanted to take it up again and seriously learn to play this beautiful instrument. Well this year I finally decided to move forward with this undertaking. The first thing I knew is that I needed to buy a better violin. I looked at a couple of places in San Antonio. While these shops were perfectly fine, I left each place not finding a violin that felt right as well as not having any idea how to go about purchasing a good instrument. So I thought that maybe Austin would offer additional options. Austin Stings’ website stood out to me right away. It just seemed friendly and ready to offer information and guidance on violin shopping. So my husband and I drove two and a half hours to Austin Strings and it was totally worth it! I don’t think I have ever had as much fun purchasing anything as I did buying my new violin. We walked in and Brieann immediately greeted us, and I told her my situation and what I was looking for. She right away was excited, asked us our price range, and got started in showing us every violin that fit our needs. She played us a piece on one violin and then compared it to the next violin in line. She spent two hours with us going through the sound of each of these violins and then the sound of various bows in addition to giving us pointers and offering a wealth of information. She helped us with each part of this buying process, and what seemed like an overwhelming task when I first started on this mission ended up being one of the best experiences. We were blown away by the amount of time Brieann spent with us and we greatly appreciate her help and expertise. It was a marvelous start to my violin learning endeavor. My husband and I strongly recommend Austin Strings!

We have been customers here since my son started playing violin two years ago. Austin Strings has always provided exceptional service, taking lots of time to make sure he was in the right violin, answering questions for us, and helping us when we needed advice. They recognize us when we come in and treat us with care and kindness. Hats off to Austin Strings.

Great string shop with great service and rental plans. I also like the lesson studios where my family is taking violin and guitar lessons.

Ive driven to every music store in Austin and Pflugerville and — though I havent chosen what cello to buy yet— I had the best experience here. The store felt friendly as I walked in and I enjoyed seeing their luthier workshop and works in progress on the walls alongside available instruments. They let me try a range of instruments and I learned so much about different makes of cello and bows. It was a whole education. Also, imo they have the best rent-to own policy. Your rental fee goes 100% towards owning plus a $7.50 or so insurance fee. All other places are about 50%. I watched them help a young violinist chooser her instrument with a blind test which I hadnt seen other stores do.
