We requested curbside and Leah was great at assisting us to do that. Once we got there we parked at the curbside spot and called like asked. The associate said that someone would be out shortly. After about 20 min we realized no one was coming so we went inside, which we really wanted to avoid. I was greeted by Mac and told him the problem. He worked hard to find the solution. Apparently the curbside appointment was cancelled. So what we thought would take an hour tops took us 4 hours. Mac was great but the process was horrible.Even a complementary car was later would be soemthing to mend the situation.

Made an appointment to sell my vehicle. They provided the most fair offer for my car... Even though I know it was worth a little more. Took the offer because, I dont want the hassle of selling it privately.Overall in and out in 2.5 hours. Not bad. I think the vehicles I saw online for sale, a bit more than I would pay but, I wasnt there to buy. Only sell.

I bought a camry from them it was white color abd it was very bright outside so I couldnt see that the car has hail damage. So I returned the car and they told Ill get my down payment back within 10 days Ive been waiting over 45 days now and they told me to wait another 2 weeks this is the worst car dealer Ive ever been in in my whole life I wouldnt recommend any one to go there at allIf there is a -stars i would give yall -100

It was such a great feeling to go in CarMax Austin and not worry or get pressure in any type of sales pitch. I had my car picked, never pressure in buying anything else. I love it. My hope is that someday, I should be able to purchase a brand new car from places like CarMax.

Got a quote to sell my car and made an appointment online, which was super easy. Unfortunately, they asked the same questions again during the appointment (defeating the purpose of the quote), but the appraisal was the same. Associates could have guided me through the process a bit more and there was lots of waiting, but overall it was straightforward. About 1.5 hours to sell a car, Id say half of that was waiting around.

Great customer service and a very positive car buying experience. I got the exact trade in value that I was quoted online. The 370Z I had transferred from out of state arrived on the promised date. A piece of technology that was advertised was missing, and they made it right without missing a beat.The only negative was the amount of time waiting to go through the process but its a car dealership so...Just kind of expect that.

Carmax used to be a dealer for the people who needed extra help buying a car. I have bought several cars from them over the years, not because I needed the extra help, but because it has always been an easy, no stress experience. This time, not so much. Our credit is good, we put over half what the vehicle is worth down, and STILL it took HOURS to negotiate a deal. This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had buying a vehicle. I wont be going back.

My experience with CarMax was wonderful from beginning to end, and even after buying!Nick, my salesman on the phone, got in touch with me right away after I applied online for the car I wanted. And he stayed in touch with me throughout the entire process until I received my car after it was shipped to my local CarMax from out of state.Chris, the salesman at my local CarMax, helped make my buying experience smooth as well and offered help if I could not get in touch with the service team if ever needed. Both have stayed in touch with me and have been amazing during and after I bought my car!In addition, after I left the parking lot, I immediately got a flat tire due to something stuck in the new tire. CarMax replaced the tire at no cost to me. I also took my car to my personal mechanic on the first day I bought my used car to have my car inspected and told CarMax of things my mechanic and I found that needed work. CarMax fixed everything I expected them to at no charge. My 11-year-old car runs like new and looks and smells excellent as well.I can’t speak more highly about CarMax and their team of people. I would highly recommend CarMax to my family, friends, and anyone looking to buy or sell.

This is the 8th car my wife and I have purchased from CARMAX. We love the fact that we do not have to haggle over pricing. We purchase all of our vehicles with the assistance of Susan Pruett. She is outstanding and we will always reach out to her when we need a vehicle. This purchase we took advantage of our policy of refinancing within three days with no penalty. It was a smooth process and it is a great policy. We will always purchase our vehicles from CARMAX and Susan. We love our Pathfinder!

NEVER, EVER going back to this location again. I came in to get an offer and sell my car, which was in my fiancés name. I had to come to this location three different times on multiple days because the front desk people in the business center had no idea what they were talking about, so they never gave me accurate information in regards to all of the paperwork that I needed. They couldnt even explain things correctly! Asked to speak to a manager in person and never got directed to one. Took my car right to the other location in Austin. Staff needs better training. Please do not contact me to email about my review.

This place is an absolute disaster when it comes to communication and follow-up.Its nearly impossible to get anyone in the store on the phone regarding transfers. Trying to use the operator line always resulted in non-stop ringing (or an extremely rude person picking up the phone).If I didnt already have a non-refundable transfer fee tied up, Id walk away from my deal.The only reason I am posting this is to let anyone entertaining the idea of working with CarMax, corporate or local, it would be a huge mistake. DEFINITELY DO NOT give them a transfer fee.

If you are a dealer beware!!!!!, do not buy cars with no titles in, I have 3 cars from them with over 30 days with no title, 2 with over 100 days with no title and the business office dont pick up the phone, I had to drive all the way over there several times just to talk to someone since they dont pick up my calls anymore, asked for a manager they dont even know who is in charge, what happened? Used to be organized now its like there is no management or they just stop caring, sad!

Its been sometime since Ive purchased a vehicle so I figured we tried shopping through Carmax. My experience was great, I manage to find a vehicle well under suggested market value. I paid the transfer fee (out of pocket) and when it finally arrived, I used the 24 hour test drive option... hint: (if you decide to test drive it on a Saturday, you will have 48 hours to test it since Carmax is closed on Sundays). Im very satisfied with the vehicle and would recommend Carmax to everyone.

Update 9/30/2021: The county office has NOT RECEIVED ANY TITLE TRANSFER DOCUMENTS FROM CARMAX. This vehicle was paid in full for back in May of 2021, and we still cant even put license plates on it because they wont do their paperwork. I emailed the company at the address they stated to contact them at (in reply of review below) and have received NO RESPONSES OR RESOLUTION, most recent email to them currently a week with no reply.Hello! I purchased a 2020 Chevy Silverado on May 3rd and STILL HAVE NO PLATES. In addition, your office has not responded to any calls or emails requesting status, Ive personally driven to your office twice just to be told to call back later. I was just on hold for AN HOUR with your business office only to never get anyone to actually pick up the line. I reached out to the online customer support app online and they also were unable to provide any answers or get a response from your business office.I have tried contacting the DMV and they are waiting on your office to complete the required paperwork. So please, where do I go from here? I am currently being forced to drive on expired tags because your business office refuses to issue new ones, but they wont complete whats needed for me to get the plates for the vehicle!

After months of looking for a specific make, model, and year of a vehicle online I was having very bad luck with nailing down offerings found online. Several dealers sold the cars out from under me, while online shops like Carvana simply refused to work with me and the financing I was able to do. I found a great listing for what I wanted on CarMax, and was able to have it saved after only a few minutes online. After that, the team was extremely friendly and accommodating, and even able to help me out with a few last-minute changes to my order. The only negative experience was the pretty long wait times I had while calling into the local CarMax.

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. First of all we waited from 4pm to 830pm. We switched between 3 salesman because each one of them had to leave to handle personal matters. As we are doing the application process they had me reprint and redo everything because one of the salesman did not do it correctly. Then to top it off while cleaning the car the wrecked it!!!!! What a waste of time. The sales manager acted like our experience was no big deal. No apology no nothing. We walked out without any concern on their part. Horrible place!!!’

Started my shopping journey on the Capital One Auto Navigator Website (Capital One is my preferred auto loan bank, and I do all my auto loans through them). Did my pre-qualification and searched for vehicles within my pre-approved amount. After researching various vehicles, settled on a Nissan Kicks. There were several results for Kicks in my area, but I found one that I particularly liked at CarMax (which I also prefer over other dealerships). A nice 2018 with an upgraded package, only one previous owner, and with only 15k miles on it. Score!Clicked through to the CarMax site and found the car listed as expected. I ran through the pre-qualification on their site (even though I had already pre-qualified with Capital One, I couldnt find a way around this step, can probably bypass it if shopping in person), and everything looked good. It was 2AM in the morning, so I setup a phone call appointment to have someone call me back later in the morning.I got a call at around 9AM that same morning. The person on the phone was able to quickly find my pre-qualification application through CarMax, and after verifying my details and verifying the vehicle I wanted, ran the full credit check.After the credit check I had four offers for auto-loans and they went through all the choices with me. I knew Capital One was the one I wanted to go with, and sure enough it was first on the list with the lowest interest rate. I setup an appointment to go pick up the car at 11am the same day.I showed up for my appointment and checked in and got paired up with my sales rep. I declined to test drive the car (crazy, I know). The sales rep, Randy, was able to pull up my financial information in their system and again went over the auto loan options. He pushed CarMax Care a couple times, but not hard, and was polite when I declined. Randy also informed me that the vehicle was still under its manufacturer warranty for another 2 years. Very nice!We finalized the sale, and Randy submitted everything to the business office. I went to wait for the paper signing and after about 10 minutes. I signed all the paperwork, and made the down payment for the car.About 10 minutes after paper singing was done, Randy brought me the keys to the car and let me know everything was squared away. The car was clean, had a full tank of gas, and was ready to go. I drove it off the lot less than 12 hours after I started my online shopping for a new car.A couple days later I notice that there is a problem with the front radar on the car. Called CarMax and made an appointment to bring the vehicle in. After dropping off the car and picking up a loaner, I got a call from CarMax saying that there was definitely an issue with the front radar and that they were bringing the vehicle to Nissan for servicing. (I did some research on the issue and apparently it is a common problem with the 2018 front radars across all Nissan models. Must have been a bad year for radar modules).Overall, everything was quick and great. Yes, there was an issue with the vehicle, but they were quick to fix it and provided a loaner (a 2019 Nissan Rogue) all at no charge and with no hassle.Will definitely keep purchasing at CarMax for future vehicles.

After dealing with the Salesman there was a 2 hour wait after being passed off to the business center. An extremely inconvenient 2 hour wait to sign a couple of documents.Additionally the vehicle purchased is in need of mechanical repairs that the salesman advised that the service center would be able to accommodate. No follow up from salesman, service department to effect repairs. No direct way in which to contact the local CARMAX other than a national switchboard, which normally means a 50 minute plus wait to talk to someone due to “a heavy volume of calls”. Typical response.I have not had a good experience with CARMAX, and my vehicle is still in need of repairs.

I was very disappointed in the way that I was treated. They requested proof of paystubs and I provided them. Then, they asked for proof of my paystubs in my bank account.. For the down payment, they wanted to see proof that the money was in the account. I felt very belittled!

Waited over 3 1/2 hours to appraise my truck and give me a check after receiving an online appraisal - arrived at 2:23pm and left at 5:56pm. They lost my key twice, I watched multiple people going through the same appraisal/sale process get finished before me, over and over. When I asked why my check was taking so long when I had already agreed to their appraisal (which btw was $2K less than what they offered online), they dismissed my concern that other people were processed before me that hadn’t been waiting as long, told me they were working on it, and generally acted as if I was the one being unreasonable. When I watched two more people get their checks in front of me that had been waiting half the time, I finally lost it and complained very loudly. Amazingly, they had my check in 2 minutes. Their process is obviously broken and unorganized, unless you complain from the beginning, you get no service. Well mannered, patient people are taken advantage of and ultimately mistreated.

Initially it was great, the appraisal and customer service was amazing. Once we began the sales process at the business center it was horrible. The first day, after four hours of waiting we were told that they didn’t get to my paperwork in time to call my bank for the payoff amount. Second day after nearly three hours I was told my bank wasn’t answering. It was only after I had to explain to the representative that he had been calling me for the last hour and not my bank (I had to show proof because he didn’t believe me) that we finally reached my bank. I had to call using the info I had given him twice, that he claimed was directing him to a different department. Once that was settled he had to reprint my contract several times because he couldn’t understand my address on my license was correct, for some reason he thought I was mistaken on where I live. Overall I would suggest retraining or finding better suited positions for some employees.

Purchasing the vehicle was easy. However every step after has been a nightmare. I received the plates for the car but no registration. After calling they informed me that I could extend my temporary tags. We extended the temp tag yet once again we did not receive the registration. I called back and was informed that this sometimes happens. Yet the lady tried to blame myself first saying I lost it. So now we have to go back and pay to get the registration. To top it all off I pulled a Carfax and all now this is a wreck that is on the car. Which was not on the Carfax that was showed upon purchasing the vehicle. Needless to say they have lost my business and everyone that I know.

However, we then had to sit for over two hours in the freezing cold lobby until they finally got the paperwork ready. It seemed like there were not enough people on hand to process the paperwork for the number of customers who were in the store.

It’s going on 4 months I’ve drove around with temporary tags. I’m not from Texas and I just moved here in March, so I’m not for sure how things go. But I don’t think it takes over 60 days to prepare tags. I’ve called every month to see if my new tags have arrived or to see if I can get overnighted a temporary tag because I have a commercial driver’s license and I can’t afford to get traffic violations. Carmax doesn’t seem to understand that! I’ve called the tags person and she texted me “I’m off today!” After I was instructed to text her… by her!!! I’m over this process!! I just want my tags.

The business office is just absolutely the worst. it took them over 3 hours just to sign paperwork after finalizing the process. its been 6 weeks later, my temporary tag expires in 2 weeks and I havent received my plates, yet no one picks up when you call. Also, do not ship your car from another carmax to this store, I had to go over in person just to discover the car was sitting there all along after telling me for over 3 days they were working on a car that was already inspected and tested in another carmax store in Houston. After all when I received my paperwork it showed nothing of them doing any work on the car, just a bunch of excuses.

Its impossible to get ahold of the actual store! I can get with customer service quickly and without issues but the actual physical store? Yeahhh no Im still on hold (have been for almost half an hour).Im trying to see if an item I left under the seat in service is still there or if someone walked off with it. Its a drive to get to this location so I figure its better to call than drive out just in case someone took it but here I am waiting and hoping someone answers and thinking Im probably gonna be left on hold until the store closes.

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. This is the 3rd vehicle I have purchased from the Austin - North store, and I am done!1. Brought vehicle for six items of service, they only did one of them.2. CarMax sent me to Covert Chrysler-North to get the other repairs done because they didnt want/have the staff/the resources or even care to take the time and do them.3. The have no arrangements/Uber reimbursement or shuttle service when you need to come and pick up your vehicle. With Covert, you simply call them, they arrange Uber and they pay for it.4. Try calling Car Max and see if you actually get connected to a live person, or if you just wait on hold and then eventually get disconnected.5. I would absolutely refer my sales person (SRP), but then that would mean you would have to purchase a car thru CarMax, which again - I am NOT RECOMMENDING!6. My other two vehicle purchases went much smoother than this time around, however I would not want to take my chances again with CarMAX in having all of these inconveniences and headaches!7. On a side note: Covert Chrysler - North Austin (Lamar/Hwy 183)I am grateful for their superior service! They pick up the phone when you call, they handle arrangements and reimburse for Uber/Lyft automatically, great communication with their service dept via phone and e-mail.As a customer I was treated with far superior customer service and I didnt even purchase the vehicle from them!! AND, the did what Car Max couldnt do, Covert got the job done!!!!

They left my door dissembled and I had to put it back together myself. My service advisor Sean told me my car was ready to pick up, yet when I got there it was in pieces everywhere in the passenger section. As a certified mechanic location this is unacceptable and pretty unreliable as a trust worthy location to get your car service. If you have a maxi care plan I advise you to get it fixed elsewhere. They advisor and “ certified “ techs left their work half finished. 1 they didn’t take pride in their work 2 any certified location would not let a customer see the car like this. Only makes me wonder how their actual service appears.

I had a vehicle transferred from one location to another and was told it wouldn’t be long til I could get the vehicle. Well I go up there to see about getting the vehicle seeing how it needs to be inspected again for the 3rd time! An inspection shouldn’t take long. So why couldn’t I get it done that day. It was only 3pm and they close at 9pm. I then I called the next fay after 11pm and was told it was going to be another day added on to the time of the vehicle being ready. No one knows why.. Mind you I test drove it before it was transferred. What could of went on from that night til the next few days it was transferred? The car is still there up front. Now I’m trying to get in contact with a sales manager or store manager. Customer service kept referring to the location I had the car transferred from. Then I was on hold for 25-35 mins at a time. I still haven’t spoken to anyone. I just want that “you’re going to love your car” experience! What happened to prioritizing vehicles and customers? Not a good look for them in my eyes! Dissatisfied!

I would not give someone my business if they dont respect my time and needs. I could not even get an opportunity to view a car. First time the online folks said I can walk in but when I walked in I was told there is a 2 hour wait. Ridiculous!! I was given an appointment date and time. When I turned up for it, I was told there is no appointment. I was told there is a wait of 30 mins. I left after 45 mins. After an hour I got the call from the sales person apologising. By then I already moved to another dealer who treated me like a valued customer.I would rather pay extra $ to be treated well. I am paying for the car after all.Never going back to CarMax

I had such an amazing experience buying my recent car at Carmax! I was able to take care of mostly everything from home and when I got to the dealership the rest of the process was so fast! When I initially arrived at the dealership I was hesitant because the place was so packed, however because I had a scheduled appointment, I was in and out in about an hour! My experience was that I was honest about the condition of the car, mileage etc. and received the purchase price I was quoted. It is a lengthy process, but CarMax staff were friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and communicative. I would definitely use CarMax again.

Awful car buying experience.Not only did I talk to multiple people at random locations other than the one the car I was buying.I had to constantly tell them about what car I was buying and the stage of buying I was in.Because they had no clue, but kept trying to set me up for a test drive of the car I had already test driven.

I’ve had the worse experience at this Carmax! I will NEVER go back. The manager was incredibly rude when I was purchasing my vehicle. I haven’t been able to get ahold of them since about getting an extension for my temporary plates that I have yet to receive in the mail. I have called multiple time and I have waiting for over an hour on hold. Awful .

My experience was 10/10, five stars as usual. Carmax was efficient and my representative, Banke, was so patient while I fought with my bank to approve my down payment. I paid to have the car transferred from out of state and was told that it would be about 21 days, but it arrived in Austin, TX from Tennessee in just 8 days. I was able to trade in my old car (also from Carmax) and leave with the car the same day it was delivered. Everyone was so kind and amazing.

They did everything I asked of them, getting my vehicle I requested here from California,then they delivered it to my house, and all paperwork,documents,.. were finalized here at my house. I was disappointed by my bank not part of their system so this glitch was a detour in the process but it was taken care of.

My experience was less than ok. My car was given to me with dog hair and crumbs everywhere! When I asked for it to be re-cleaned the sales agent tried to persuade me to wait until a different date. Then a couple of days later we realized that my windshield wipers were never actually hooked up to the vehicle so they could spray the fluid. Instead the fluid we tried spaying was just falling all onto the engine area. I emailed the sales manager and still have yet to receive a response. Also don’t expect for it to be fixed right away b/c their busy and you have to wait. Not to mention that the sales agent knew nothing about the car. So go somewhere else to find out any information about the car you want first. All around mess. I’ll never buy a car from them again.

There were scratches on the vehicle and a nail in the tire in addition to all 4 tires needing to be replaced at the recommendation of discount tire. We had the vehicle for only a couple weeks and we’ll within the return period and we didn’t even receive ONE free tire let alone four. You need to be better with accommodating issues you were supposed to see before we bought the vehicle. Also very poor communication on the vehicle delivery

1) Team members are overwhelmed and undertrained. Seems like this property has a staffing issue. 2) There’s no excuse for having a customer remain on hold on the phone for an hour and a half. I was able to drive in, check in, and be seen in-person before anyone bothered to pick up the phone. When I asked the business office about the hold time (coincidentally while I was still on hold), a staff member’s answer was that they were busy and couldn’t be bothered to answer the phone while handing customers.

Ive been a part of 3 car buying experiences in the last 5 months. One of which, was a transaction from a different city and I didnt leave my home. The experience at Carmax was the worst experience Ive ever had buying a car. My sales person was more concerned with leaving work on time than making sure I was assisted properly. The acting manager, Nikki was my saving grace. Very disappointed

Its been 2 months and my car temporary plate has expired. Have been calling 3 days in a row with 30min to hour wait times. keep getting hung up on. Finally someone answered me today. They sent them out last week (Very late honestly) and now no one knows where my plates and registration are. They only mentioned going to the tax office to get a new one, which requires me to pay out money and take off work (which means i lose more money). I now cant even drive my new car until i can get this resolved. High inconvenience since i now dont have car to drive without getting a ticket.

This place has the worst customer service we have ever encountered! We bought a car mid December 2020. Everyone was great got a temporary license which ran out February 9, 2021. Because of COVID DMV was closed down so didn’t worry about our temporary plate until April. We had to call CarMax at that time and ask about our plates. They had messed up the paperwork and didn’t get the the signatures necessary on the title so the DMV had returned the paperwork. Then they couldn’t located the prior owner. Finally got the paperwork cleaned up and back to DMV. Gave us another temporary plate good until May 12th. Again the deadline came and we had to call, we were told they would overnight the temporary. Never got it! By this time the temporary had expired. Called Again and no one had issued the paperwork for the temporary. We were told it would be overnighted. We got a call on Saturday night at 8:00 telling us the temporary was ready and we could pick it up and they close at 9:00. We live in Oak Hill which is a 45 minute drive. We went the next day in a different car to get our temporary. It’s now it’s June 10, and our temporary runs out the 13th. STILL NO PLATES, we called two days ago and after being on hold for 45 minutes a young woman told us she didn’t know how to issue Another temporary but she would have someone call us back. Of course No one did so after being on hold today with CarMax for TWO HOURS my husband called corporate. They called us back and said they would get back to us in 24 hours with a solution. We want to travel and cannot because of CarMax ineptitude. The management there should all be fired!

I was really reluctant to part with my old car and he went above and beyond with providing me a special opportunity to come back and get my old car after seven days if I had a change of heart. That really made a huge difference in reducing my stress and anxiety about giving up my beloved old car (2016 Camaro SS convertible). Best possible car purchase experience I could ever imagine.

Mac Hart was great to work with. I was probably a little more difficult that average as I changed my mind on the vehicle at the last minute, but Mac was patient, he explained the process well, and got me into the truck that I wanted.
