This is an Austin mainstay. I’ve been enjoying Catfish Parlour since the late 70’s and the food has never disappointed me. I’ve been here at least a few dozen times. I always get the fried catfish, Mac & cheese and fries. The beer is ice cold and the prices are good for the quality and serving sizes.Today I took my dad and girlfriend. My dads thinks he’s been here before with my mom but it was my girlfriends first time.We arrived before the Saturday evening crowds so we got seated immediately. The service was great as usual.Come hungry or be ready to take home a doggie bag.I recommend not to fill up on the appetizer hush puppies. It hard not to but save room for the main courses.I highly recommend Catfish Parlour next time you visit Austin.Remember, Keep Austin Weird!

Their fried catfish is absolutely the best!!! Ive been frequenting this place since about 2010, and their food is consistently delicious!!! Today I had the fried catfish, with a side of fries, macaroni, and rice pilaf. The catfish was the star, the fries were good, and the macaroni was delicious. The rice pilaf, I thought was just ok. I should trade my rice pilaf recipe for their catfish and macaroni recipe. 😁 Stop missing out, and try them out! They dont disappoint.

I really enjoyed the Salmon and the fries. I tasted cornmeal on the other fried seafood dishes and thats just too gritty for me. Everything else was okay. The service was great. Very Kind and Nice waitress.

The food was amazing. The catfish was great. Dont know how they made it not taste fishy but they did. Drove all the way from San Antonio to try the food and it was worth the trip. Will do it again

A group of about 15 of us chose this place at the last minute. They had no problem seating us all together. The drinks and food came real quick and tasted great! We definitely recommend this place to others!

My favorite place in Austin because I love catfish and they cook it perfectly. And the price cant be beat. Creamy coleslaw is amazing and fries excellent. Jalapeno tartar needs to be spicier

Worked there for 3 weeks in early 2019 and I must say the way I was treated there was beyond awful. The old manager Jesse was rude, he didnt care about anything that I tell him. He didnt care if I had school, he didnt care if I had college trips to go visit, he didnt care if something happened. One night he had me a, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, stay after on a school night. When I HAVE SCHOOL and was supposed to be on a college trip the next day. Yet he made me stay until 3 in the morning when I specifically told him I cannot stay no later than 9:30. Because I have school

Brought our oldest daughter to Austin for culinary school school and took to dinner here to avoid the traffic pileup and sitting in traffic. Its kind of a hole in the wall but surprisingly have fantastic food. Small-town feel. Would definitely return.

Food was excellent. The green beans are So amazing, the fried okra is delicious. The mashed potatoes were good but nothing special. Fish was light and fried to perfection. Service was great and the atmosphere is fun. You can have a conversation with your spouse but still be able to hear the music playing. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Still as great as the first time! They even hooked it up with the best cobbler ever! I usually get the oysters but I never realised they had fried crawfish! Highly recommended

We like their 3-piece catfish dinners w/3 sides for $12.95. The food is hot, cooked well, and always, always good. Love the hush-puppy sticks they give you to eat while your food is prepared. The decor is a bit dated, but Im okay w/that. Im there for the food, not elegance.

Catfish looked like chicken tenders. My chicken fried chicken was good. Green beans tasted good. Didnt get to eat my salad cause I was not given it until it was time to go. It looked good!

Fresh never frozen. Always good. Wide variety menu, so much more than just catfish. Highly recommend Chicken Fried Steak and Grilled Salmon. Oak fired grill.

What good is call ahead if they dont package it up until you get there.They were not busy, but it still took 20 minutes to get my food after I arrived. They quoted 20 mins when I called and I walked in at 20 mins expecting to get my food and leave, but it wasnt ready.Overall the food is good and the cheap beer makes the wait more tolerable.

Just as with the North Austin location, I wasnt impressed anymore. It used to be an absolute treat to come here and have catfish, coleslaw and beans. Now its dirty and the food is greasy. The whole overall atmosphere wasnt fun and friendly like in the past. It was uneasy vibes. Shame.

What I had to start was a 3 piece catfish dinner with fries okra and broccoli as you can see how DELICIOUS it was 😋😋 Not a fan of bread but I did taste the hush puppies they were also good too!

Im not big on fish, but I love this place. The fried catfish and popcorn shrimp are great. My favorite is the chicken fried steak, one of the best in Austin.

Food was absolutely delicious but the service from our waiter, Anthony was the highlight of our restaurant experience! Not only was he attentive but his customer service is something I havent seen in a long time. Will definitely recommend to friends and family!

Used to live in Austin and hadn’t eaten there since moving back home. Took a friend to eat because I bragged how good it was but, was Disappointed! Hush puppies which I bragged about were tough and over cooked and they used to bring large portions of beans and coleslaw only to bring small individual ones instead. Prices gone up like everywhere else and less value and menus had to be accessed through phone app. Should have known something not good when Saturday used to be busy and not crowded at 7pm. Won’t go back

Lots of chsnge since the last visit due to covid. The changes are not bad just different. It is still a good place to eat with good food and good wait staff.

Food was great but they were seriously understaffed and we waited over 10 min just for the poor waitress to take our drink order. She was an amazing server but definitely looked like she could have used some help! We were looking for a quick bite but were there for almost 2 hours just for lunch! Not the servers fault!

We enjoy grabbing dinner here to go. The guy who takes the orders is super nice and polite. I like the way they check all the orders to make sure everything is correct before you leave.

Atmosphere is different from the Research location. Menu is a bit different too but overall the food is the same and just as good.

Been several years since I’ve been to this Catfish heaven. You are greeted by friendly people and the wait staff were fantastic. Enjoyed the All American Catfish Dinner. 4 Catfish filets. You get 3 sides. I chose Fried Okra (YUM) French fries, and original Cole Slaw. It was asi remembered some of the best Catfish I’ve ever eaten. When in Austin, you have to go try it out. On weekdays it wasn’t busy when we went a little before six. It started getting pretty busy by the time we finished a few Cold Draft Beers. No kidding this is a place you have to check out. Youlllove the old time decor.

That place looks nice and so that food when we arrive they give us a little baskets of hushpoppies while we wait ....the waitress came and we ask for the menu she told us we dont have menu....???? so how we supposed to order?....we ask for drinks and also what kind of beverage they have in the bar ....she replied I dont know since I dont go to the area I can ask the bartender?.....then after a silence moment she came with a menu saying I dont have menus but this is my menu.......(we almost laughed)...any way we look the menu and we were looking for crab legs and they dont serve the item so we dismissed ourselves paid for the teas and left that place and food looks good maybe next time we will tried some of their dishes.....

Food was very good and service was guild also. I had the jumbo shrimp, while it was tasty it was also slightly overcooked and the texture was a bit dry. The slaw was delicious, the mac n cheese was a bit bland. Price was reasonable

It was the bomb dot com.... the jalapeño tater was awesome and the food cooked to perfection 🥰 highly recommend this place for everyone who likes seafood

Got food poisoning for 3 days from this food. when I finally recovered & called to get a refund the first person I talked to was pretty mean about it/tried to insinuate that it was my fault. next person I talked to (Kevin I think) said they would refund me & didn’t. won’t be coming back & also wouldn’t recommend it unless you wanna get sick & blamed for it.

I havent been to Catfish Parlour in over 2 years. The catfish, Cole slaw, pinto beans, and iced tea was delicious 😋. If you love fried catfish with up to 3 side dishes, this is definitely the place to go.

Always loved the food and theyve recently cleaned up and renovated the space which makes it feel bigger. Friendly and attentive staff too.

I grew up coming to this Catfish Parlour but it had been years since my last visit. I can honestly say that the catfish was REALLY good. My girls really loved the hush puppy sticks which I don’t think have changed since my first visit more than 30 years ago. The coleslaw and beans are served family style and really just make the meal. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and the staff was very friendly. Prices are reasonable and the whole family left very full. That’s pretty hard to beat!

Extremely short handed. The bartender and cashier were working as wait staff too. There were only 2 waitresss working so service was SLOW. Food has gone down a lot since I ate there last. Friend had chicken tenders and two of them werent cooked all the way. I ordered take out last week and all was good. Another thing tables around us werent being cleaned up for most of our stay. Guess take out is the way to go with them now.

I never have had eaten in that restaurant but I did have a interview and I must say that the manager Kevin wasnt giving me attention I deserved, he was ignoring me as if I didnt waste my precious time to see him for the interview. I honestly dont like the fact that I was ignored multiple times. I give it a 1 star because if they ignore you in a interview they might as well go broke from being disrespectful in their restaurant. I wouldnt ever go there again!!

Sadly to say i got really sick with food.catfish had no taste. Non of the food had any flavor all i could taste was the oil. First and last time we eat there alert when you see a seafood restaurant empty specially in lent something is wrong will never eat there again. Dont recommend.

Catfish was dry and flavorless but the sides were really good. The soft drink also had a weird aftertaste

Wish I could say something positive about this “Austin” classic with a vast history(apparently) well the place is clean and decorated decently. The food for lunch was absolutely terrible, their name has Catfish in it, you would think at least their Catfish would be fresh and juicy and amazing. Well that is not the case. Tiny pieces, fried 20min ago, all the side were for sure frozen and most likely from Sysco. The Hushpuppy stix were dry, absent of any flavor and bread for that matter. The Lunch deal was confusing to say the least, walk to little Window, pick a meat, all Sides are buffet style. Well they were all not good..... even the fries were frozen like you buy at HEB in the freezer section. My first and def my last time ever making the twenty minute drive for what I thought was going to be some good cornmeal catfish. And just to be clear to the “Owner” I have never reviewed this establishment nor have I ever made a diff account to purposely bash a business. I just write honest reviews I speak it how I eat it and if it is not good...... I do not Just make upLies. I do however find it very interesting when Owners of places I have left negative reviews either apologize and want to make it better(good/present owners) or they get all defensive and ALWAYS have the same banter about, you tried to bash last month, they defend their horrible food with, public Fav or “Rave” reviews or some other Bs. All this shows about the “owner” is that they are not present, don’t care or just hVe no taste buds left. And it looks really bad to people that read reviews

Good shrimp cocktail! Served with lemon, spicy cocktail sauce, and chopped celery. Most refreshing.
