We attended here for a company picnic and I absolutely fell in love with the place. It is beautiful, the view as well as the location. Perfect place for a party of any kind. The pools were awesome for the kids. We all had a blast.

Where to even begin with this place.....Okay, full disclosure: the owners of Shady Springs are like family to me. I grew up spending weekends on the property climbing trees, swimming in their amazing pools, playing putt-putt on their 9-hole course, and rollerblading in the barn until my legs were like jello. Its absolute paradise. I also worked out here during college making snow cones, serving their delicious BBQ, overseeing the kids in the bounce house, etc. Again, absolute paradise. So, of course when I got engaged I knew where I wanted to get married & didnt even waste my time looking at other venues. Shady Springs was it, no question. The wedding was exactly what we wanted: laid-back, unique, and personal. We originally planned on the ceremony being under a huge, gorgeous old tree on the hill, but it rained. So, we switched it up last minute & got married in the barn & it was perfect. The ceremony was romantic, intimate(even with 200 guests!), and perfectly us. The decor was amazing and did not take away/cover up any of the barns natural charm, theres a stage where we had a live band, the BBQ NEVER disappoints & that night was no exception, and the dance floor was full of guests shaking their tail feathers!! Its been 6 months & I STILL get compliments on the venue, it just has a really really good vibe. If you want a venue that is a family owned Austin gem, with beautiful scenery and great food not to mention SEVERAL amenities to keep your guests happy & occupied, do yourself a favor & choose Shady Springs. You will not regret it!

I never knew this place was tucked away back here. Kind of makes me wanna relive my childhood so I can have my birthday parties here. I brought a large group of middle school students, 10 full school buses!! There was no issue with accommodating all the kiddos or parking for the buses. Shade was everywhere. The kids really had a good time. The bridge to cross for additional parking is a little NARROW for a bus but its doable

It was a beautiful place for a group event. Though i wish there was more for the smaller kids to go have fun. My kids are under 5 and there wasnt much for them. Other than that the place was really nice. Maybe when the kiddos are older we will go again and see how it is next time!

Oh my gosh! It was gorgeous. It was magnificent. Food was so good, ambiance just the best. My nephew Aaron has done magic shows out there for years. I think I might have talked to Fred if he was getting the cars parked at the beginning.

I had never heard of Shady Springs Party Barn before South by Southwest announced that they would be throwing their annual post-festival volunteer party (an event usually attended by several thousand people) there. While the party had previously consisted mostly of a building with a few bands and DJs, a bounce house for the kids, and several open bars, this years event boasted the addition of swimming, volleyball and basketball courts, horseshoes, and even an outdoor film screening. All this, and they promised that there would be plenty of available parking! Having no idea what a party barn was, I was naturally a bit curious about the venue that could boast this range of activities. The answer is that The Barn is essentially a large, rustic-looking event space that looks like it could hold a few hundred people (theres also The Porch, a smaller event space). The full Shady Springs Party Barn facility, however, is a sprawling complex containing all of the amenities Ive mentioned, plus a playground, a nine-hole miniature golf course, a zip line, and even train rides for kids. This is all centered on a huge, sloping grassy field which is a perfect gathering spot for large events (and the location where we all watched the movie at the SXSW outdoor screening.) Since I didnt play a planning role in the event Ive attended there, I cant speak to what the staff at Shady Springs Party Barn were like or how they were to work with. However, as an attendee, I had great time and thought that the facilities were a perfect fit for the event. The only complaint I had at all was that there werent nearly enough womens restrooms for an event of that scale, and several of the toilets when I attended were out of order. Im not sure when the plumbing stopped working, and it may have happened during the event, but nothing puts a damper on the fun youre having like standing in line to use the restroom for twenty minutes. Other than that, though, I was very impressed with Shady Springs Party Barn and am happy to know that a venue like this exists in Austin. The rest of the attendees seemed to agree, as well- there were substantial groups taking part in a wide array of activities, from volleyball games and swimming to just sitting with a drink and chatting, and everyone seemed happy with the range of options available to them. I would certainly keep this place in mind if I was throwing my own large, family-friendly event. Fingers crossed that SXSW plans to throw there party here again next year!

Not a great location. There was a roped off condemned house on the property and parking was down a very narrow road in a field. The putt-putt was also small and not well put together.
