For the property company to advertise the building as luxurious, it needs to make an active effort to clean the building and update its carpeting and furniture in the common areas. In addition, the building management is lethargic and takes months to address issues. I also agree with the comment from another reviewer about working remotely and foul odors emanating from units. There are a good number of (probably) college students in the building who treat the building as a residence hall as opposed to professionals who view this as their home. I also wonder about the number of people management allows to live in units.
We had a great and safe tour today. Melanie did a great job answering our questions and walking us through the process!
Very badSmells badHot AC
Due to covid and other circumstances we have had to move out early. They are making us pay for an extra two months rent and adding in extra processing fees of 400 which was refunded when we first moved in. The staff is very unhelpful and no one can help or answer questions. Basically only one person who knows the answers works there once a week on certain days. Honestly the worst experience here with people who lack understanding, helpfulness and compassion. Do not move here.
Dittmar staff are professional, efficient and kind. This property is in a great location, 1 block from the newly renovated Ballston mall and near everything (pedestrian walkway, bike trails, etc) . Very clean with lots of amenities. Large, well maintained apartments selection of apartments with very good prices.
I lived at Richmond Square for about 2.5 years from 2013-2015. It was clean and the staff was friendly. I never had any major problems, and any maintenance requests were handled quickly. The studios are very spacious, easily as big as a one bedroom at most apartment complexes. Overall, I was very happy with my experience at Richmond, but after living at two different places in DC, I do think its a bit pricey for what you get. Id recommend it to anyone looking in the Ballston area.
My husband and I moved from another state to Richmond Square Apartments sight unseen. Its been one of the best decisions weve made. We cannot say enough how much we love living here. The apartment itself is great. Weve barely needed maintenance at all, but when we have, theyve all ways responded in 12 hours or less! The entire building is clean and well maintained. All of that is wonderful, but the best part to me is the people. In our two years here weve gotten to know pretty much everyone who works here. We are greeted by name, and always feel very safe and well looked after. We have an 11 month old son that is simply adored by everyone that works here. We are especially thankful for Nour, George and Larry, and the way they have made Richmond Square feel like home! We would absolutely stay here another year, except my husbands job is taking us to a different area. Cannot recommend enough! Wish we were staying!
I have lived at Richmond Square for two years and have been very pleased overall.Pros- The apartments are clean and well kept.- The maintenance staff is very responsive if I ever submit a work request, my request is addressed within the next day.- They do a lot of preventative maintenance to ensure our apartments remain safe and healthy (replacing air filters, checking garbage disposals, drains, etc.)- There is a conceirge/door man in the lobby 24/7- All of our packages are handled by the door man and are kept safe rather than being left at our door.- All utilities (beside cable/internet) are flat rate and paid in conjunction with my rent.- The walls are very soundproof. I never hear my neighbors or the people above me.- Great location! Extremely close to Ballston metro, Ballston Quarter mall, and I-66.Cons- The parking spots in the garage are extremely small- guest parking is $5 a night- One of the front desk men, George, is extremely incompetent and grouchy at all times. He does not understand that his job requires customer service.
DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE. Management for this building is the worst I have ever dealt with. They have terrible customer service and I would strongly advise anyone to not live here. They will try to get every penny out of you and force hidden fees down your throat every chance they get.
I lived here for a year. The staff when I first moved in (Martha, Nour) was great but she left soon after and those who replaced her never really knew what they were doing. Picking up packages or dealing with the front desk in general wasnt always a fun experience depending on who was standing by. Some packages were returned to sender and questions werent always met with a straight answer.
The front desk recently expanded its hours. While management during normal business hours is helpful and friendly, the desk clerk at night is rude, slow, and incompetent. He has trouble finding packages you have received, and if you want a parking pass, you should plan on it taking at least 30 minutes (this isnt an exaggeration).
Adding a review. I decided to post every time there is a fire alarm. Tonights false alarm occurred at 9:30pm. The desk personnel were pretty much clueless, and indicated that it was due to either an alarm failure, or someone deliberately pulling the fire alarm. My guess is on the former. My previous post was on 6 Dec. Extremely poor maintenance. The building fire alarm goes off far too frequently, usually during cold or rainy weather. This could be tolerable if it werent for the fact that most of these false alarms occurs after 12am. The frequency of these alarms has led most of the residents to ignore them, which could prove disastrous in the event of a real emergency. Marsha, the resident manager, has never provided an explanation as to why these false alarms occur.
I recently lived at Richmond Square for a little over a year. Its in a great location if you need the metro and or want to visit A-Town frequently. Its pricey, but then again, its Arlington... The apartments are nice, and reasonably roomy for the price. Just two complaints: Its only wired for Comcast and no pets. Maintenance, the few times they were required were extremely polite and efficient. Office staff had changed during my stay for the better. Initially the building supervisor was a bit clueless. The new lady is lovely, polite and quick to answer tenants calls.
Only problem is it is Comcast exclusive, no other Internet options. Friendly and helpful staff, price is typical for the area, and Ive never had fire alarms go off at night. Ive lived here for over a year. Maybe the floor the other reviewer is on has a prank resident?
Recently moved in - leasing experience, along with the move in were smooth. We are in a renovated unit and really like the finishes, including laminate wood floors, deeper kitchen sink, newer (white) appliances and recessed lighting or new light fixtures throughout. The gym also has really advanced treadmills which allow you to login to your Netflix/Spotify or other accounts and watch shows directly on them... pretty neat.Balcony is deep (WIN) so you can sit out their comfortably and without feeling like youre too close to the edge.Very happy with our new home in this quiet and well located building :)
The building is secure and clean. The staff, on the other hand, from DIttmar Leasing to the actual on-site staff are the worst. We had a neighbor who lived directly above us who dropped an empty pack of cigarettes on our balcony WEEKLY, and the staff was not attentive to this matter at all. We sent 5-6 emails, with no response or empathy. The apartment complex accepted my emotional support puppy, who was trained at 8 weeks. We got TWO complaints in a 10 months span, and the Dittmar company gave us the option to terminate our lease or get rid of our dog. Hm....guess we should have sounded more angry and irrational over an email or call when talking about weekly cigarette packs. The entire staff is unfriendly and has no desire to empathize with any of their tenants. We are SO happy to move into a place where staff treats tenants how they deserve to be treated, especially when paying $1800+ for a one bedroom.
