Ive lived here going on 5 to 6 years. The buildings are old and my unit has had maintenance issues from time to time, some major and minor. Since living here Ive seen high turn over of front office, maintenance, and cleaning crew staff. Though everything isnt perfect, when issues arise, Andres Rivera and crew are highly responsive, very courteous, and professional in addressing them. Some of the maintenance issues Ive had currently were plumbing, appliances failure, etc...Andres and crew were on it and after ever job Andres followed up the next day or two on how things are working.Its worth mentioning under Andress supervision maintenance issues have been addressed in the most timely and efficient manner thereby adding greatly to quality of life at Park Shirlington Apartments.
I love living here. Pet friendly community, management is great, maintenance is on time, and apartments are very spacious. Come on over to Park Shirlington, I love living in this community!

Bianca and Mark are my true reasons on the 5 star rating. Their customer service skills have been nothing short of excellent. Since moving in they have addressed/resolved any issues I was having especially during the pandemic. I can’t thank them enough for all they have done for me. THEY ARE AMAZING!
This is place is the worst place I have ever been so far. The only good thing about this place is the maintenance they try to do their best fixing everything but ofcourse they can not make a miracle happen. The company who is running this property do not want to invest any money to change anything everything is so old and worn out. The sink, bathtub, toilet, AC unite and all the appliances. The pipes are so old and at any moment your house can flood in. Let me not mention the rodant infestation it is disgusting I still regret the day I decide to move here. I will not recommend this place for anyone to live in.

So far my experience at Park Shirlington has been a pleasant one. Making my decision to go with Park shirlington was based initially on location, amenities, pet policy, safety, schools, parking and of course affordability. Although, that sounds like a big list as a tenant you have the right to chose and shop around based on your specific needs and thats exactly what I did...with this complex I was able to check off everything on my list and then some, renters insurance for example, that was something I hadnt thought of but was glad they offered it. My application experience was also a breeze and that is something that you dont hear often but that was thanks to an office staff named Bianca. She was extremely lovely and helpful from beginning to end. She went through and answered every question which put me at ease, most importantly though she listened to all my requests and was able to put me in a unit that best fit me and my familys needs. So yes, for my family and I its been a great experience!!!
Bianca is THE best! She has gone above and beyond to help me and my husband move into our first apartment on our own. She was there for every step and moved us in before the time I expected to move in. She is very professional and very well with communicating! Beautiful lady inside and out.

I moved to Park Shirlington in 2014 with my family, and we’ve had issued with the quality of service since then. First of all, the rent skyrocketed every year while the quality of life in Park Shirlington decreased. In our 5 years there, never have they once changed or at least cleaned the carpets, painted the apartment or performed any renovation work to keep the apartment in good condition. Of course, we did our part by keeping the place clean and up-kept, but that alone isn’t enough to keep the place in good livable condition for years. Not only that, but they didn’t allow us to paint the place ourselves or do any work to make it a better place. Therefore, the apartment kept deteriorating as did our quality of life. The walls became more and more moldy, to the point that my daughters had to rearrange their room, so they sleep underneath the moldy ceiling. The place was frequently swarming with cockroaches and mice. The exterminators didn’t help much, every time they would treat the place, the cockroaches and mice would come back a few weeks later. One time, my daughters found a snake in their room. I managed to catch it and when I took it to the leasing office to show them how unsafe the apartment has become, I was met with disgust and shoulder shrugs and a bunch of “oh there’s nothing we can do, that’s what living on the first floor is like”. We went to them a hundred times with complaints about the mold, the mice, the cockroaches and they never gave us a straightforward answer or tried to fix the problem in any substantial way. The majority of employees at the leasing office were always rude, unfriendly and borderline discriminatory due to the way they would treat me and my wife. Over the years, things just got worse and worse. We periodically lost power for no justifiable reason, and the 24/7 maintenance was very low quality. The emergency maintenance phone number would usually take you to a voicemail, and the workers never showed up on time. We had lost electricity in one of the rooms once, and the issue wasn’t fixed until a week after. And that wasn’t even the worst for it, the bathroom above us leaked into our bathroom ceiling and we had literal urine dripping from our bathrooms ceiling for days, before they actually fixed the issue. In addition to being extremely unsanitary and inconvenient, this could have caused some serious health and sanitation issues. There is so much more to share with you, but for sake of time I’ll keep it at that. Please understand that our place never felt like true home because of all these accumulating issues. For these reasons, I was outraged that Park Shirlington would charge me extra money for damages that I’ve asked them to fix for many years. Especially, considering the health hazards, the mold the mice the snakes the cockroaches the leaked urine, my family and I were subject to because of Park Shirlington’s negligence and unwillingness to take responsibility and deliver on the promises they made to us when we signed the lease.
I had a wonderful experience with the leasing office. Bianca was extremely helpful and courteous every time I spoke with her. Her customer service skills were always professional and on point. She definitely gets the job done. I would recommend to family and friends.

Tuelda is one the nicest ladies I have met since the staff has changed in Park Shirlington. She understand the frustrations of the tenant(s) but also try to delegate the situation in professional manner. The old staff just could not answer your questions or had any clue what you was talking about. I appreciate the fact they are trying to get some kind of organization for the apartment complex. Cant wait to see what improves this year.
Wow I cant believe the customer service I received recently. I happen to stumble into this apartment complex office, I was in the area shopping for places to live for 2020. Shopping for a new home is really nerve wrecking and after meeting the representative Brandon working there, He was truly amazing. Brandon was very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable. I felt well taken care of and immediately knew this was a great place to live, I definitely plan on making this residential complex my next place to live in 2020.

I have been living here for almost two years now, and there has been improvements since then, they hired a new supervisor named Andres, he is very empathetic, and responsive about fixing things at my place. Before it used to take forever to get things fixed.
Ok, so this 5 stars is for the new maintenance crew. In the past, I have had to fix my own issues or wait FOREVER for maintenance to EVER COME BACK!!!!!! Well, Andres and this NEW crew is AWESOME!!! Yes, I have had MAJOR maintenance issues, but the new crew has not failed me with QUICK response time!!!!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!!!! They have fixed my issues with no arguments, as before with many. Way to go guys, please keep up the good work with consistency!!!!
Spent a $100 on fans after 6 weeks of living in this apartment. Having to clean my sons throw up in the heat is sad and hearing constantly not feeling well and lying in a pile of sweat...its just so frustrating! I had to switch from one apartment with serious problems to one with a whole new set of problems! Plus they do not respond to emergency! I moved in memorial weekend cost $2400 to move across the street! Luckily my renters covered $1800 I just had to pay the deductible but regardless that first weekend no a.c. got stuck in the apartment and lost electricity! It almost feels like they placed me here on purpose! What is the permanent solution? Or how will this property compensate people for living in this condition? My neighbor had to go stay in a hotel! The best solution they gave us was go to the local library. What about at night when we need to sleep?

She is exceptionally professional, always courteous and very accommodating to my maintenance requests. She has a way of calming down a situation that can easily get out of hand and for that I give her a lot of credit and respect. This Place sucks buildings always smelling like weed no control at all laundry room and storage really out of shape... my stove hasnt been working properly for months I asked for a replacement and they wont even let me change it. worst place to live

Sooo I have always left pretty negative but honest reviews however one of the upsides to living in PS is the Assistant Manager Tuleda....First let me say she has been the first consistent face on the property since I moved there in 2018( It has been at least 5 people working there that ONLY lasted 2-3 months),every issue I have had has been resolved through her!!! I kept having mice issues and other household problems and got no help going through the maintenance portal but when I went in and spoke with her she immediately gave me traps for the mice and had maintenance do something about the mice....Yall I went from seeing them daily to NONE in just 2 weeks,Things that were broken that I told her about was fixed(stuff I forgot I had even complained about :) ) She makes sure Im aware of everything that is going on(Yes she calls my phone and leaves updates),If im having any issues about anything Its handled professionally. I will also say it helps to have someone in the office that understands the residents and speaks to them as people. She is the ONLY reason I have told people to move here,now that the mice are gone and shes in the office I think well be ok:)

Today, 7/19/2019, residents got an email asking us to leave reviews for this apartment complex. In exchange, there would be a contest where one lucky reviewer would receive $100.At the same time, Ive been without air conditioning for almost a week now (which is completely normal for the summer) in the middle of a massive heat wave. The mice and rats and roaches are getting ridiculous in number and Im tired of it. Dont move here. The company that owns this place clearly isnt interested in spending the money needed to keep this place decent, which is no fault of the staff here, but is still infuriating.Either way, theres your review. Fingers crossed for that win. I could really use the extra cash to go towards my moving costs.
I have been living at Park Shirlington since July 2018. In the beginnig I was not a happy camper. The maintenance staff was an absolute MESS!!! The apartment had several things wrong with it. Maintenance couldnot fix anything correctly and there was terrible rodent issue. I took matters in my own hands and helped to clear up the rodent issue plus had the office have a exterminator come in. Now thats under control. When the office got rid of the FRICK and FRACK maintenance workers and hired better people, my opinon of Park Shirlington got better. The supervisor Andres and his workers care about getting the job done right. They are attentive and do there best. The problems i had with the previous maintenance team, things they couldnot fix and would not try to, the new team has come in and fixed it with professionalism. Park Shirlington is a nice community. The apartments are older and could use a upgrade in the kitchens and bathrooms. But overall, I like them. The neigborhood to me is safe and clean and in a great location. Keep up the good work maintenance staff Andres and his team. The rental office team is great as well.
Were i live its starting to get old and sometimes theres roaches cuz idk but ya and I have a lil brother and I NEED my own room my place has 2 rooms and when its cold out the thermostat is hot when its hot out the thermostat is cold and now since its cold Im feeling hot and Im sorry but I dont like this place

Im incredibly frustrated with this complex negligence. My living room ceiling has leaked more than five times, and Ive lived here a year and a half. The leasing office states theyve fixed the roof every single time, yet my ceiling continues to leak when it rains. I have a baby who stays at home, and the office doesnt seem to care. The new property management is temporarily fixing things but not permanently. The location is beautiful and convenient to live in. However, I believe its unfair to be paying a lot for apartments that are practically falling apart little by little. I wouldnt suggest anyone move into these apartments until they have been fully renovated.

I receive email all the time to review my experience and had not posted any to make the company look bad. But based on the horrible attitude of the lady today 07/26/19 I have to let them know that they have a deficiency of customer service. If you had a bad day yesterday at your meeting it is not my fault. I was just going to discuss a few points of the Lease with “the experts” because yesterday Angelina said that the expert was the other. She just gave me some numbers that didnt match and that I wanted to discuss. The Lady, without opening a file, letting go of what Angelina was telling her began to treat me in a rough way telling me that she was very busy and had had a meeting yesterday that I could not attend that what Angelina had told me was what was going to be done. Definitely besides that maintenance is the worst also the customer service of the Lease Office. They will be kind to you when they have your money but when you mention not to renew Lease they are the worst people.

Facilities fixes things fast and front office ladies are so so so nice.•everything is nice and clean looking inside and out•such a nice location and tons of dogs around•saw deer in the front lawn (3)•air conditioning gets real cold. Works well in heat of summer (Windows dont hold cold in or heat in, though)cons•the windows are SO thin. They are like paper. You can hear the baby birds screeching in the spring. The crickets sound like they are in your room and if you happen to live on the road side like I did (next to a bus stop & a speed bump) you hear every single screech of a brake, the decompression of every single public bus braking for the speed bump...every fifteen minutes starting early in the morning into the late hours.You get the point. You can hear people talking at conversation level from the third floor and it is like the window isnt even there...please replace the Windows when you get the budget...for future tenants.•my car was hit overnight in the parking lot. Scraped the back bumper pretty bad... Nothing I could have done I was legally parked and no note was left.•Ive had packages not arrive at all from Amazon (might be amazons problem, who knows)•depending on where you are, the dumpsters can be farther away than a privileged American would like. Not a big deal to me, though•floors are creaky and the door gets stuck.

Getting really frustrated with this place. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. I had an unpleasant encounter when we first moved in with management and messing up our pro-rated amount. And now for the past two months we keep recieving letters that we have not paid our rent on time and that there is going to be a late fee charged. Should really consider getting people in the management office that know what they are doing because I am about done dealing with this place. Its a nice and quiet community but my whole issue is the leasing office. Clearly they don’t know what they are doing because you call and speak to one person and she tells you something and you call and speak to another person and she tells you a whole other thing. Very dissatisfied.

This apartments should not even be on market for rental.To statt staff at office worse horrible customer service.Maintenance is very very bad i have been living on property for 7 years and this new managment company is the worse.I have been reporting maintenance for over 2 months and nothing has been done.Roaches and now mice all over the place and rats in dumbaters are discusting.The apartments inside are old and in bad living space.The rent is ridiculously high i do not recommend to nobody to move here.

My family has been living here for five years and its been garbage the entire time. TLDR: If you cant afford anywhere else then move here. If you have ANY other option, go there instead.In the first year, an adjacent apartment got roaches so exterminators got called in to kill them. The roaches fled into every other apartment in the building and it took over 2 YEARS to be completely rid of them. To this day the slightest feeling of a stray hair blowing across my skin gives me hives because Im terrified of living with that many bugs again. I have to double check my headphones to make sure bugs arent living in them like they lived in the coffee maker we had to throw out. As of now my apartment has been roach free for about 2 years but I know for a fact that other apartments in the complex still have issues.A big complaint Ive seen in these reviews is the A/C and everything people have been saying is 100% true. For anyone unaware, Arlington VA starts getting consistent summer heat by May. This complex, for whatever reason, does not activate the A/C units until June. Then, once they turn on, you end up calling for some kind of repairs every two weeks. This week has been particularly bad as the A/C went out Monday, came back Tuesday, and went back out today, Wednesday. So I have to call for repairs AGAIN. The interesting thing about this is that no repairs were made in the apartment on Tuesday to fix the A/C which tells me that not only are individual apartment units constantly on the fritz, but the outdoor units dont work right either. Thats a big concern, particularly given the fact that theres a good 6-9 children living in my building.Given all this, youd hope at least the heating would be nice and consistent, right? Well, as a matter of fact, my apartment never cools down. The second November/December start in with the 60 degree days, the heating goes up in every apartment beneath mine so my home roasts. Thus, my family has fans going full blast to cool us down in both summer AND winter. It would be so much easier for everyone if each apartment had its own thermostat that worked properly. Let us make our homes the temperatures we WANT instead of playing this ridiculous balancing act. Im sure its frustrating for the repair workers too! Constantly being called because this complex isnt built to do something as simple as maintain temperature would certainly annoy me.Edit: Recently, stickers have been posted that we have security, so that is nice. However, my family has been without a dishwasher for six weeks and our replacement was taken from another unit with residue and dishes still in it and then placed in our home without a proper installation. Also, they forgot to put the sink right when they left so we were without a kitchen sink for a day as well. One step forward, one step back.Theres also the broken window above the front door, the rat snake living in the awning, etc. The complex seems like its trying to make improvements (new washers and a coat of paint in the laundry room, for example!) but theyre few and far between and dont seem to fix the worst problems.If a single higher-up in the Franklin Johnston Group could figure out how to run an apartment complex, wed be golden. But, again, five years and counting and my family still lives in horrible conditions just like everyone else here. Im sure this place has everything it technically needs to avoid lawsuit but thats no way to run an apartment complex. Thats pathetic penny pinching putting your residents at risk. The people who run this place (not office workers and general staff! They do a fantastic job with the resources given) ought to be ashamed of themselves.
I give this community 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Not on the condition of the units but on the efforts. I was moved in a unsatisfactory unit in which I wish not to share. MARGARET!!! Thank you for physically walking the unit to address my concerns. People! not only did she address the concerns with her staff about unacceptable issues, but she physically toured each unit to be up to her standards as she can not be the one at all times to inspect. The Apartmentments are pretty expensive but theses people had a heart worked with me with assistance putting a roof over my 14 year old daughters head. Also, at school time, summer months they provide fun activities, school supplies and much more in which is heart touching. A lot of issues with the condition of the building has nothing to do with management but everything to do with a demolition/ bull dozer or what have you. Destiny Parto big ups in corporate I big you up my lady for coming all the way down from the 757 Tidewater area to address all issues and concerns!!!! They never was fixed and I REPEAT!!!!! out of management control, but at least she made a attempt to rectify a dissatisfaction. I stayed at a hotel during the ac outages and made one phone call versus complaining and It was taken care of, not out of favoritism but of no complaining but what can we do to address this, and it was taken care of. My family and I have lived at Park Shirlington Apartments for over 10 years now and the only reason we have stayed is because of the convenience in location. Aside from location there is absolutely nothing convenient about these apartments.The units themselves are EXTREMELY old and as a quick fix to everything all they do is paint layers and layers of paint over everything that desperately need to be fixed properly or just replaced. I had someone from the maintenance staff come in to the unit where the counter tops were falling apart and said hell just super glue it back together, SUPER GLUE?, SERIOUSLY? SUPER GLUE? Exactly what I mean by a quick fix and no actual resolution to the problem. With the amount of money that is paid in rent (over $1800) these apartments should be renovated and taken care of properly!Just today (Friday Sept 7th, 2018) I called to report MOLD, all over the walls under the stairwells in the building my grandparents live in, I called and Angelina answered the phone I let her know I was a resident but I was calling for my grandparents because they are older and it concerned us that they are living in a building that is covered in mold she let me know that they have contractors looking into the issue and that there are TEN buildings with the same problem with discoloration on the wall Now I was not expecting her to say there were 10 buildings with that issue and to address to it as discoloration. How do these people take such poor care of this property when that is literally their job? I let Angelina know that its not OK for people to be living in these conditions and that the mold on the way was not just discoloration, it was clearly MOLD that does not need to be painted over like they do everyhting and it needs to be taken care of immediately, possibly replaced in some way - her response was since Im not a resident (which I am) she cant be sharing this information with me (which she already had) I let her know, again, that I was a resident and I was calling for my grandparents who are older. Her response was that Im not a resident in that building so its none of my concern. Excuse me? Im a resident PERIOD and if there is something wrong with the community I live in AND my grandparents live in BEST BELIEVE it is my concern and I will address it. She continued to be rude and saying that I wasnt a resident and it was none of my concern, when I let her know that she was being rude of course she said she wasnt and told me to have a good day. Its unbelievable that the previous company Home Properties and now The Franklin Johnston Group who have taken over the management of the property think it is OK to not take care of to the units properly and their tenants the way they should. Lets not forget how EXTREMELY hard it is to get any type of maintenance service since there seems to always be only one person of the maintenance team staff working or proper help from leasing staff without an attitude or being rude. There was a time where the leasing staff was AMAZING but even then as HP was getting close to selling to TFJG a lot began to change with the maintenance and overall care of residents of PS. If you do plan to take a tour of these apartments be sure not to have Angelina assist you, she will be nice when shes getting you to sign a lease but once you have an actual problems she will be no help whatsoever and be sure to show that she is not willing to help address the problem at hand. If you want some advice from someone who has lived here and has slowly seen these apartments decline, dont waste your hard earned money by signing a lease here. For $1800 a month you can find apartments in Arlington that are far better with a leasing staff that actually cares about their residents.My question for anyone that works for The Franklin Johnston Group and Park Shirlington, would you like to live in these conditions?
Service terrible the not like paying extra money when you paid that rent. way cannot Wayne to my lease expired it to get out of this place
I used to live at Park Shirlington several years ago. In January 2016 a package arrived for me to my old address. When I contacted Park Shirlington Management office and asked them for help to have my package returned, I received no assistance whatsoever. They simply refused to do anything. I was very disappointed about such lack of understanding. I dont think this is professional.
Lived here for years and it has its pros and cons for sure. The washing machine and dryer ALWAYS have an issue. The building itself has a lot of problems like our ceiling and walls have cracks and led to leaking sometimes. The pool is really small, but thats not a big deal. You are bound to get roaches too, I know this bc I have family that lives here that gets them too and ive lived in two different apartment buildings here, which also had some. The good things are you have public transportation all around you, the neighbors are nice, schools are really close, and its pet friendly. I feel like the apartments are overpriced though!!!!
I lived this apartment since 2005 the first 4 years was everything fine but the past years we dealing with mice,Roche, snake its frustrating the building is to old maintenance is very pure the management is unprofessional and the stuf changing so many timeThe only good things location
If I could Id give these apartments 0 stars I moved in this past summer and have had nothing but issues the AC was broken for most of the summer there is mold in the apartment and my hot water has not been working since yesterday they where suppose to have someone come out today but I came home today and still no hot water its frustrating because i pay to live here someone kept getting into my mailbox and when I asked for it to get replaced they where trying to charge me its not our fault someone still had the key to our mailbox please do not waist your time signing a lease with these apartments
