Update- Be aware of Fraudulent Damage Recovery. Alamo is trying to get us to pay for Hail Damage. It did not even rain in New Mexico the 23 Sept to the 26th Sept 2021. Last time it Hailed there was May 2021.A quick Google search resulted in many, many of these types of claims. If you do rent from them take tons of pictures and have the check out person sign and get a witness if you can.We are now in a dispute process with them.More to come, I will make honest updates as I share this story. The car was great, nice gas Mileage and Clean. We picked up in ABQ and the confusion started. The Alamo counter was empty and the was Kiaosk broken. We had to check in at National, that wasnt clear when we arrived. After checking in at National we were instructed to pick up at Enterprise.. which was weird, again no clear communication from Alamo.During our trip we called Alamo about dropping off at Santa Fe and was told thats fine and the cost was 110.00. The agent said a confirmation email would come with details. None came. ( We had changed our flights to depart from SAF).Day of departure, I called Alamo again and was told there is no drop off in SAF. This Really complicated our day, we had to change our flights again. My I got one seat at 241, my husband had to take the 645pm flight. Our experience was horrible with the lack of clear communication. How can Alamo state they service ABQ and SAF, but you Do Not!?Sincerely Kathy
The car rental went very well and we got a good vehicle. They were washing them and getting then ready to go back out really fast. Their return instructions for after hours was NOT good. I talked to 4 different people and none of them gave me the same or correct answer. I even had 1 Customer service person hang up on me. I almost felt like it was an inconvenience to help me or talk to me because they might not get their quota for the day. I was very disappointed after having a good experience. If I rent from them again I will ask more questions so Im not so frustrated and swearing later.
We reached late night and only a small car was left. But Alamo was nice to exchange it with a bigger car next morning.
We had a great experience with the Alamo Rent A Car at the Albuquerque Airport. The car, a Mazda CX5, was a great choice. It was clean and comfortable for 2 people with luggage. The employees were all friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks!
I RENTED A CAR FROM ALAMO BUT THAT MORNING THE SIGN DIRECTED ME TO ENTERPRISE BUT REGARDLESS I WANT TO BE SURE THAT THE PERSON THAT HELPED ME, NICOLE J.M., GETS THE CREDIT FOR HER KIND, FRIENDLY, HELPFUL PROFESSIONALISM IN RENTING ME THE CAR ON JUNE 7, 2021. THANK YOU SO MUCH. ALSO COVID CONSCIOUS WHICH IS A GREAT COMFORT. GREAT CAR, GREAT SERVICE. THANK YOU!
Lucky to get a car due to increased demand. No problems with rental and pleased with our vehicle.
Apparently Alamo is now part of Enterprise and the experience has suffered. The line in Albuquerque airport for the poor lone associate was over 40 people. When it became my turn of course the car that I had reserved months ago was not available and I was put in a much smaller, underpowered and sparsely equipped vehicle. Assume all rental car companies are dealing with Covid related issues but I mean 40 people in line...40
Alamo (and National) has been bought by Enterprise... with the resulting 3x long lines at checkout. ERAC had only one guy staffing the front desk -- and he was working quite hard -- so who manages these places and what are they thinking???In response to the below comment: June 11th @ 6 PMish. The only place with a line of more than 1 customer was Enterprise which was easily 9 customers /25 people) deep. There is no need to send my contract or rental -- the rental was fine (hence a few stars) and your staff is really hard working. But you arent treating the customers particularly well when we have to wait 40 minutes to get a rental car. As full disclosure I rented a micro-sized car and got a pickup truck, gratis, so the issue isnt the staff/vehicles, but rather the management.
ZERO stars..This company (Alamo- Hertz, Budget, Thrifty seem to be all one) left me stranded at the airport without a vehicle when I reserved through my airline! No phone call. No vehicle.. No solution. Single female traveler. At night. New city. New job the next day...
My husband rented me a car from this car rental place but they wouldnt let me rent it because he has an interlock license. But I dont. But hes renting it for me so I can drive him to Arizona. He is recovering from Pneumonia 3 weeks into it and recovering well and why would I explain our personal trip. Hes paying and Im his driver.... Come on give me a break....
Great car! And easy process from the airport
Excellent helpful employee, fast service. Didn’t like the Doge minivan.
Did my paperwork online check in took about 2 minutes to get an automatic upgraded SUV, because they didnt have the type I reserved.Great experience checked me back in on the return in about the same time.It was great overall. I will use them again.
I made my reservation this morning pay online the money 💰 And went to Albuquerque airport to pick up my full size car,The lady at counter was so u respect, and even treat me that she will cancel my reservation!!Push me out 3 times the line!!
I was very impressed with the service we received from Alamo. We traveled during COVID19 and Alamo allowed us to go straight to the car pickup area at the airport when we arrived in Albuquerque. The agent at the car pickup area showed us the cars that were available in the size that we reserved and allowed us to pick out which one we wanted to drive. Pickup and drop off went very smoothly, I will definitely rent from Alamo again.
1) I found a fantastic low price by going to Alamos website several times before my trip. 2) I used Alamo Skip the Counter. I prepaid, and the pick-up process was lightning fast. Highly recommend!! 3) Alamos desk at the Albuquerque airport is open until midnight, so they could accommodate my 11:15 pm arrival, whereas other rental agencies closed earlier. 4) Oddly the Alamo team member offered me a pick-up truck or a Toyota compact sedan which was kind of weird, but Im sure some people would have enjoyed a pick-up truck!
I left my wallet on the train. Cost me $800 more to get the same car and Lady of the counter was not very nice. When we check the car back in those people were great
After checking in, it took over an hour to get our car. Meanwhile customers from other companies promptly got their rentals.Use a different car rental company
We had great service and dealt with friendly people. The only complaint was that the car could have been cleaner, the windshield and rear window were horribly streaked.
We received a car where the air in one of the tires was extremely low - almost flat. We were then forced to try to find an air station in an unknown city. Not a great way to start a trip. It seems at a minimum Alamo should conduct the most basic of safety checks before renting out its cars, including confirming correct tire pressure
We rented the car at the airport in Albuquerque and drove it to Chicago, following Route 66. The rental car facility was dead inside, only 2 companies had personnel at their booths. I had ordered a convertible, and was surprised to get a black Camaro SS. It was a fantastic car! One drawback, the trunk was tiny, but we made do.Thanks Alamo! Alan Hanson
I had rented a mid sized pickup for a few days and asked when I picked it up at the Albuquerque airport how hard it would be to extend the rental. The counter person said it would be easy to do and I could either call or come back in. A couple of days later I called the 800 number and extended my rental. The agent on the phone was great and they quoted me me a reasonable price. When I returned the truck, I was met by a manager and charged less than the quote! Great service and pricing!
Easy check in and great personel!! easy return-all very professional
Truly Exceptional! Probably the nicest I have ever been treated by any car rental company at any location. The only issue? Needed a full size car which seemed to be in short supply at that moment. Was given a 2017 Chevy Impala with 35,000 miles on it. Car was OK but could not believe there was NO back up camera! Though that was pretty much standard these days. Probably time for this car to be removed from the fleet and upgraded to a newer model.
The customer service inside and outside getting the paperwork and car ready were courteous and very helpful. even though it was passed midnight and the weather was cold, they provided excellent service with a friendly smile. thank you very much!
Great experience with Alamo this past week. The Skip the Counter option worked beautifully in ABQ, and I was
Super great service and located near Albuquerque Sunport Airport
Alamo is by far the best car rental agency out there. I frequently go to Albuquerque and in the past used others but no more. Alamos customer service is unbeatable! My wife rented from Enterprise (Alamos parent company) and had the same awesome experience.
We rented from Alamo at the Albuquerque Airport. Could not have gone better. The shuttle ride to the rental was short. There was some wait at the counter, but not bad. The staff was friendly. There were not more standard cars so we got a free upgrade to a midsize. The car was clean and feature rich. On the way out of the lot, the attendant noticed a crack in the windshield and noted it in the computer, saving an explanation and possible hassle upon return. The return was efficient, and the shuttle bus was waiting for us when we were done. The price was competitive, however, there are a lot of fees above the base rental. Many could be imposed by New Mexico, but be aware that the fees will increase your final cost.
Super easy rental experience! It was very quick and we got our pick of four cars in the class we rented. James (Station Manager) was super friendly and helpful! Returning was equally easy.....would definitely rent here again!
Can’t get a hold of an agent when needed on the phone sat for 20 minutes with no service. kept getting same message short delay with no help...what is wrong with their customer service staff!!
Due to the Pandemic, National was Car Rental wasin charge of all of the Car Rentals.
Rental at ABQ in July 2019. Was able to skip the counter by using online check-in. Car was ready and the type we ordered. Everything worked fine, and returning the car was no hassle. Have rented from Alamo several times and never had a problem.
The staff is friendly amd helpful, but national was better. We have used several different rental companies and so far alamo fees are higher
The online booking was very easy and user friendly. Pickup was a breeze. The staff was very quick and efficient. Return was also quick and easy. No hassles. The vehicle was perfect. My kids fell in love with in. We rent from only Alamo these days. Great experience.
Great service at ABQ airport! Used the online check-in, then just had to go to the lot, pick up keys, and go! Return was equally easy. Car rental center for all vendors at Albuquerque is fantastic.
Car was rented without a full tank of gas so we had to have this noted before leaving the lot and guess that we were returning the car with the same amount left in the tank. When the temperature dropped during a snow storm, all the tire pressure warnings came on (dashboard and audible warnings) that made driving the car so concerning that we left it parked for 3 days. The front impact sensor was on during our entire rental. Lastly, the car interior hadnt been cleaned so the floor was covered with dirt from a previous rental. Clearly, this car wasnt properly serviced before it was rented and when I reported this when we checked the car in, no effort was made to adjust our bill or otherwise accommodate the issues we encountered. This is not the Alamo Rent A Car I remember.
Though selection was very limited, the Nissan Rouge was excellent. The vehicle was clean and the personnel on site very friendly and courteous. We were in and out in less than a minute with the on-site customer service person helpful loading our luggage. We have been using Alamo more and more as their vehicles are clean and well maintained. Looking forward to our next rental and would recommend to everyone.
The folks at the counter in Albuquerque were great. The lady in the car lot was extremely helpful. When they didnt have any more cars like the one we ordered, she offered us a free upgrade to a small SUV. The lady even came over and showed us features on the car before we left. This was one of the best experiences we had renting a vehicle.
Rented an SUV for some skiing and got upgraded to a beautiful luxury SUV that was great in the snow and helped us haul the entire group. Easy in and out.
Rented beautiful 2017/18 Ford F150 4x4. Had all the bells and whistles and drove like a dream. Totally clean and reasonably priced for the area. Only thing I could have asked for was a step-up running board since the 4x4 was tall but still loved it.
The process was fairly simple from pickup to drop off. The car was very nice, had power, smooth ride and enjoyable to drive. No problems.
Im re-rating the rental experience from a one to a 3. I never was charged extra. The incident did cause some stress though.Ratings indicate my experience may be an anomaly. Be aware anyway. I rented a Nissan Maxima. The employee who we walked around with showed a card of a certain length and circle size. He said to look for anything larger than those examples. My wife pointed out a dent and I pointed out a scratch longer than the example. Those werent anything to worry about he said.We got in the car and drove to the hotel. Along the way on the freeway we start to hear a sound. At first we thought it was car adjacent. The sound was intermittent but we knew it was our rental car as we exited the freeway onto the Albuquerque streets. As soon as we got to our room we called Alamo. We explained the problem and that we thought it might have been a belt although we didnt know for sure. The lady we were talking to from Alamo told us to return the car for exchange. So we did, right away. The Alamo representative at the car return examined the car and claimed there was major damage to the undercarriage. I explained I didnt look under the car during the walk around when I picked up the car. He said the damage was obvious. I said show me.He showed me a drip shield hanging near the ground. I didnt see that during the walk around, I said. I reached down and shoved the drip shield where it no longer hung down. He didnt get my point that it likely was in that position when I got the car.He then showed me a crack in the lower part of the bumper and just slightly to the drivers side. I again said I hadnt seen that during the walk around. Besides, I said, its smaller than the round circle I was shown.Well, he said, the whole bumper doesnt match like it should. I didnt say anything. That wasnt obvious to me at all.He said hed have to file a claim and wanted my signature acknowledging the damage. I said he didnt need my signature as I had called Alamo as quickly as I could acknowledging I heard a sound, but also I that I hadnt damaged the car. Lastly, I told him that I didnt know of any car damage with the exception of a hanging drip shield and small crack. He said there was no way the car had been on the lot with that damage. I and my wife reiterated that we didnt do it. We knew that if there was extensive damage, then it was there when we picked up the car.My wife and I cancelled the replacement rental. No way was I going to give them business after this.
I found a deal through Costco Travel for a Ford Escape SUV at Alamo. The car was like new, only 10,000 miles on it. It was raining hard at the airport in Albuquerque when I picked it up and a worker with an umbrella walked me from the building to the car. Very nice guy checked out the car when I returned it and wanted to make sure I was happy with this rental experience. And I was.
Staff was very helpful. Vehicle was upgraded at no extra charge. An excellent experience with Alamo at the Albuquerque-Sunport Airport location.
Actually Alamos desk was closed, so was taken care of at the Enterprise desk. All went smoothly with my reservation.
Rented an SUV from Alamo at ABQ airport using Costco Member Services. Super simple pick -up and return. Paid in advance for gas so I skipped stopping at the gas station on the way back-super smart and no more expensive than local prices. Experience could not have been easier... I think (not sure) they upgraded my class of car because I rented through Costco. That, or I was just really lucky that day! Pricing was very good and I signed up for the Alamo loyalty program. 👍🏼✈️
Very happy with the car, service and ease of getting in and out and on with my business. Ive been renting from Alamo since the early 1980s and I can definitely say that theres no comparison, when dealing with other rental agencies. Thats why I keep renting from and recommending Alamo to anyone who will listen.
Rented a van, was not happy with the vehicle due to it being the only one. It only had 1 USB port, the 12 volt didnt work. Not good when traveling with children. Was expecting a newish 2019-20 vehicle not a early 2000.
We rented from Alamo using the Skip the Counter feature and were very pleased with the car, the service and the whole experience. We found out that in Albuquerque, the agent must review all of our paperwork and that delayed us some. Also, in Albuquerque, another agent realized that the only car left in the Compact section was a smaller Economy-sized car, so he found a larger Compact car for us. We were very happy to have a car that fit our luggage.
The vehicle was not given to me with a full tank of gas. It was only about 80% full and I did not notice until just after I left the car lot. I was in a hurry so I didn’t want to go through the hassle of complaining. Also, the vehicle had an expired license plate tag. My wife noticed it halfway through our trip and after that I was constantly worried that I was going to get pulled over by the cops.Furthermore, the driver’s side turn signal in front of the vehicle had burned out and did not work. And to make things a bit worse, every few miles I drove I would get a message stating that the vehicle needed maintenance, requiring me to hit a button on the steering wheel to acknowledge the message so I could go back to the normal display screen.Other than all these problems, the vehicle was ok.I did complain lightly about the fuel and the expired registration to the guy that received the car when I brought it back and he apologized. Another guy immediately put a big “LP” with a white marker on the driver’s side window as soon as he overheard us talking about it. I assume that it stood for “license plate” but I don’t know.I am fairly disappointed but in the past I’ve had good service.Thank you.
We reserved a car and paid for the car. Flew into airport with our kids and luggage late at night and found they had given our car away. They had no more cars, we were stuck . Unbelievable. Completely worst thing that could possible be done by a rental company.
Car was good and reliable. Bus service to/from Albuquerque airport was quick and easy. However only 1 person handling the counter for both Alamo and National was disappointing. With only 3 people in line, took over a half hour in line to be served. She was very nice and efficient, but different issues by customers just took too long.
I have never rented a car before.. saying that i booked the package were they pick my car which was totally fine with me. It said compact car or bigger. Things were great till I got to the counter. They tried putting me in a two door pick up with my baby and luggage and instead of working with me on other options the girl said sorry thats not my problem. I said you realize its illegal to put children in the front seat of a pick up she once again said not my problem. So my last question was are you a Mom and she said yes but I know better then to pick that package. Well thank you for ruining my first rental experience. The worst part of this was after I just said fine I will pay for a Upgrade I get back there and get two free upgrades because they had nothing left so I felt scammed because they didnt even have a two door truck I drove away in a impala. Now for the car that Part was great returning car great and easy! And the person I called and reported my complaint to was amazing!! But I will never go threw here again.
I rented a car for 4 days at the Albuquerque airport. Contract cost was $132. I had to extend my stay by 2 days. They said that this meant I had to pay the weekly rate pushing my total to $330. ($200 more for the additional 2 days) I had to contact customer service and they reduced it to the contract rate of $26/ day for the extra days.I went back to the same location 3 days later and rented a car for one day. The price was $32. When I checked the car back in, they tried to charge me $47. Theyd made a mistake a charged me for gas, even though I returned it with a full tank. All I can say is... if you rent here CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!!
Terrible customer service..got told I couldnt afford a rental car because I didnt have an American express credit card!! We got there at 6am only to find nobody upfront except for a rude what calls himself manager that walked out 20min later.. but was not even well dressed with a beanie on!! He did apologize for taking so long to come out blaming it on another employee that got there 30min late. That place was a ghost town at that time..
Quick service by your staff, inside and outside, we have used your service quite a bit in the last couple of years. The staff at the counter showed a upgrade of vehicle but gave me a BS story about the little SUV as the upgrade! They must think I was born yesterday, The rep said my e-mail upgrade was what I was signed up for, What the hell is a upgrade For!
Easy reservation to make. Great price compared to everyone else. Can check in day before online so no waiting at pickup. Great car. Effortless return. All at ABQ airport.
I booked a full size car for a long 1k miles trip, and all I got was a small Nissan Sentra. I understand that they might run out of full size cars, but then I should get an upgrade, and not be fooled that Sentra is a full size car. Well, I saved $40 bucks comparing to other rental companies I used before, I dont think I will want to do that again.
Shortly after I picked up my rental, I started to lose air in one of the tires. The following day it was practically flat. I called Roadside Assistance and they demanded $70 before they would come out. Outrageous!! The hotel was able to add air to the tire at NO CHARGE. Question: Why does Alamo feel its fair for a renter to pay for a car THEY own?
Reyes, the station manager at the ABQ airport Alamo rental car, was EXTREMELY helpful today! We arrived very early this morning and desperately needed an all wheel drive vehicle because our house in Santa Fe is near 10 thousand waves off of Hyde Park Road. All wheel drive was very important today with all the snow because our streets (after turning off of Hyde Park Road) arent usually plowed and quite steep. Reyes said they didn’t have any all wheel drive vehicles available but once I described our predicament he worked very hard to find us the perfect vehicle and didn’t charge us extra even though it was a luxury upgrade. We greatly appreciated this excellent customer service and will continue to use Alamo for our rental car needs, especially when flying through ABQ. Thanks so much to Reyes for being such a great manager and helping us out today! I highly recommend Alamo at ABQ airport to everyone.
Had one of the best rental car experiences we have ever had. When they did not have the car we reserved when we got to the counter, they got one for us from their partner company. Arriving at the lot, there were several cars to chose from. We asked the young female attendant for a recommendation. She suggested the Nissan Altima which we took. It turned out to be a fabulous car. We drove it for almost two weeks all over Northern Arizona and NM. It was great on the interstate and got really good gas mileage. Great job Alamo Albuquerque!
The service agents were great! I really did NOT like the Infinity Full Sized SUV. I expected and asked for a Tahoe like I got there before... no dice this time. I will likely look for a company that will supply the vehicle advertised, not some inferior substitute.
It was very easy. I appreciated the fact that they didnt put any pressure on me to buy their insurance or fuel. When I went to get the car, they gave me a larger car for no Charge. Returning was easy took only about one minute. The car worked perfectly.
Alamo and National share personnel at the Albuquerque airport, which could be a good idea: Except, a single individual is responsible for processing customers of both agencies. In general this means youll need to wait to check out a car. Anyone with a reservation can check out in about 2 minutes, so if theres 4 people ahead, you wait 8 minutes. If the people in front of you dont have a reservation, add more wait time! Based on my experience, Alamo/Naional need more personnel. Too, I reserved an intermediate car and was given a compact as no intermediates were available. I took the car because I didnt wish to spend added time straightening it all out.
Absolutely awful experience. They had no car in the class (Luxury) I reserved. What’s the point of a reservation then? And did they inform me at the counter? Of course not, they just charged me the full amount for a Luxury rental. When we got to the lot, the staff was running around like headless chickens on their first ever day on the job. I got asked four times by three different people what I had reserved. After standing around in the hot sun for over 10 minutes we were shown to a Chevy Impala and told us that was as close as we were gonna get to a Luxury car. I said that no way would I pay $700 a week for that POS and they reluctantly adjusted the price down, but not by enough. I will NEVER rent from these con artists again and neither should you.
Always enjoy renting vehicles from here. Nice cars and a great price.
Ive rented cars in lots of places but the service at the Alamo location in ABQ was by far the best ever. I very much appreciate you helping me find my sons iPad that he left in the car. Ive left items in other cars around the country that were never recovered (even after running right back down to the garage in one example) from other companies. The Alamo people found my sons iPad in 1 day and we received it back in 3. Thank you very much.
I would like to compliment Terrance and the friendly staff for their great job at making it a quick and efficient transition to a vehicle. Well done and keep up the smiles, kindness and efficiency and care. Great job
This location has great customer service. I got in the Alamo line, and the girl next door in the National booth called me over. Since they are the same company, she was able to complete my rental and get me on the road faster! I really appreciated that. There wasnt a hard push to get the CDW, roadside assistance or prepaid fuel, which was great! When we returned the car, we were helped promptly and I got my emailed receipt within minutes. Thanks Alamo!
Had a reservation but had to endure sales pitch @ counter after long flight. Rep out on lot gave us an immediate free upgrade! We got a big/tough Chevy SUV which came in handy throughout NM/AZ dessert. Alamo great.
The vehicle we rented was clean, comfortable, and in great driving condition. The staff were very knowledgeable and courteous, especially on the return. Would definitely recommend.
Everything went well. Picking up the car was a breeze. We got our car right away and everybody was very helpful, including the young man who loaded our bags into the trunk without our asking.Dropping the car off was very easy and quick. The final price was exactly as planned.Overall, as always, another very good experience with Alamo!
The normal part of the pro cess was great and I would have given a 5* review, but I had an issue with damage. Shuttle was fast and convenient both for arrival and return. Checkout process was quick and easy. Car was clean and, other than a cracked windshield, in good shape. The failure to thoroughly check the vehicle is my own fault, but the lower review is for lack of communication/cooperation afterwards. I did not notice the crack in the windshield when we picked the car up at 11 PM. Although I take responsibility for not noticing it, the lighting was terrible and that should be improved. Nobody provided a form to mark damage or explained what to do if there was damage (or even mentioned checking for damage). That was not my issue because I didnt notice the damage and would have asked someone about marking it down, but that should also be improved - someone should explain what to do if there is damage because there was nobody around.I drove the car to a hotel 15 minutes away and nothing hit the windshield. I parked the car right next to the hotel office in what seemed an unlikely place for the car to be damaged. At 6:30 in the morning, when approaching the car, I noticed the crack from the outside - when driving, I still could not see the crack because it was opposite the rearview mirror. That is all to explain that I had good reason to believe the crack was already there.I explained this at the return and the (nice) gentleman who filled out the paperwork told me they could check the history and the cameras at the exit gate from when I initially left the lot with the car. When I was contacted about paying for the damage, I immediately explained the situation, asked for photos from the exit gate cameras, and did not get a response. So, now I likely am stuck submitting a claim to my insurance because it is taking them too long to respond (if they ever do) because my claim needs to be submitted within 30 days of the damage for the claim to be processed.
I was happy with the service that I received but, I was not happy with the price that I paid. A friend of mine rented a full size car for 9 days and paid approx. $200. I rented a compact car for 9 days and paid $400. Both of us made our reservations at Costco and both cars were rented at the same location.
The customer service is horrible at Alamo. I called 2 weeks in advance made reservations and prepaid for a rental, I mentioned that my sister was going to be driving as well and they tell me no problem. When I get to the airport to pick up car, there were several charges that I wasnt aware of or was never disclosed to me at the time of the reservation. They were charging an extra $15.00 per day for an additional driver and $25.00 per day for car insurance. If they wouldve told me all this at the time of the reservation I wouldve prepaid for all of it. I cancelled the reservation the guy behind the counter tells me that I would get a full refund. When I called an hour later to confirm the cancellation and when to expect a refund, the customer service person tells me that theres a cancellation fee of $100.00. Why didnt the clerk at the airport tell me that? Why isnt Alamo rent a car upfront to people? Is this how they train their employees? Obviously. Like Trump would say: their customer service is a Disaster. I wont be giving them my business anymore.Ill be calling until they wave that ridiculous cancellation fee and I get a full refund. One more thing, when calling customer service they rush through the call and want to end it leaving you hanging with more questions unanswered. Very unprofessional.
I have always rented from Alamo and have always been satisfied. This time, I was given a weekly rate that was just the cost of 7 regular days. Hmmm. Then, I wanted to share the driving with my adult son and asked to add him. I was charged 10.00 per day for that privilege. I have never had that challenge in the past. Will look closer in the future when I choose companies. On the great side, the clerk kindly agreed to an upgrade to cheer me up. It was a wonderful Toyota Camry and we enjoyed our trip greatly. Return was also a breeze though I didnt enjoy lugging my suitcase all the way to the building, a couple of hundred feet away. I am older and could have used some help, such as riding in a golf cart.
Amber was fantastic. Professional, courteous and even helped us to a safer suv as there was a snow storm.
I used to rent here quite frequently as required for work and other travel but I wont be any more. The people who work at the front counter are awful and theyve been there for what looks to be at least a few years since I started renting with Alamo. The 90 pound girl with the picked-out face who works the counter is awful to deal with. Its because of her and her money-grubbing behavior that I now rent with Advantage. At least with those companies, I dont have to endure the attitude, threats, or scare tactics because I dont want to purchase the over-priced $25 per day rental insurance and would prefer to use other insurance, including my own.Ive always had issues with car reservations but theyve always been able to accommodate me. I even put up with one time where they put me in some deathtrap of a car that could hardly speed up to highway traffic, some small Nissan of some kind. Another time, they put me in a car that had clearly been smoked in by someone who must have enjoyed cigars. I could handle these different things but the final straw was the blatant disrespect that the emaciated girl at the counter showed me.Two stars because the older gentleman in the lot who assigned me my car was great. I also have never had any issues when returning a car either. All my issues have always been from the counter people when picking up a reservation. Do these people work on commission only or are they working for meals? What gives?
It was about midnight when we got to the rental counter. There was no one there so we along with a couple other customers waited about 10 minutes for an employee to show up. When registering I asked about adding my wife as an additional driver. He informed me that that would cost an additional $9.99 per day. I was surprised as I thought all rental car companies added spouses at no charge. That was my fault for not looking more closely at Alamos policies. After completing the paperwork the clerk directed us to go to the outside Alamo counter. Here again we (and other Alamo customers) waited around about 5-10 minutes for someone to help us. I finally went inside and told the man there was no one at the Alamo counter. He said if there is no one there, go to the National Car booth. Why didnt he tell us that when we first went out? There was one positive in that they did not have the class of car we had reserved so we got a free upgrade. I know in the future I will be very careful renting from Alamo and when comparing prices being sure to add an additional $10 per day to the costs. Ive rented several cars and must say this was one of my poorest experiences renting and picking up the car. The car return was quick and painless.
Helpful, courteous and fast. Great service. The only drawback was if we had gotten to the counter a few minutes later we wouldnt have had a vehicle. We asked for a midsize but only had a choice of a van or a pickup truck. Of course we chose the van. Easy turn in also. Id use Alamo again and recommend them as well.
My wife and I had an excellent car rental experience with Alamo at Albuquerque airport. We made the booking through Costco Travel. The Alamo rep helped me inspect the car, and the man in the exit booth entered the info into their computer system (the car had a scrape on the front bumper when we picked it up). This is both good (the data is recorded so I dont have to retain my inspection receipt) and not so good (I no longer have the paper copy of the inspection receipt). But on balance, having them take the extra care to document nicks is greatly appreciated. BTW Alamo is a good company to rent from - if you have an accident and get billed for loss of use Alamo (and Enterprise and National) will provide proof to your insurance company, which some other car rental companies (Avis and Budget) will not (leaving you stuck with the charge).
On pickup day I was told the car I requested (full size) was not available. The only option given was a compact car to try to squeeze 4 people and 5 pieces of luggage. Since the car was not the one I requested the shift manager offered a 30% discount and gave us his card with the discount handwritten and her signature. When the car was returned I tried to explain the situation to the person processing the return. She was not very patient and after a few minutes she returned with the receipt saying everything was taken care of. When I checked the receipt only a 10% discount was applied. When I asked she said that was it and there was nothing she could do since no one can approve 30% discounts. I tried to explain to her that this discount was not a gimme since our car was a compact instead of full size. She did not helped. We requested help from another employee and the first employee told the second this guy just want to pay less money. NO..I just wanted them to honor their part of the deal. Long story short the second employee asked a manager for permission to apply a 30% discount and the manager said of course since that night we ran out of cars and we had to do this to several other clients.. After the managers intervention I ended up paying what I consider a fair price for a very small compact car. My whole problem has to do with the employee attitude. If someone reads this and is offered a similar deal, I suggest to get the manager offering the discount to modify the contract immediately instead of waiting to return to request the discount.UPDATE: As requested by representative as an answer to this post I tried to contact Alamo Care. Sent a couple of emails. No answer was received.
The yard attendants were very cordial and helpful. They addressed my one concern promptly and graciously. I was positively impressed.
Great price, awesome vehicle, and superb service! 😃
Got the SUV we wanted. Pleasant staff. Great vehicle. Should have been an easy in and out.Only negative, and its a big one, is that we picked up the car at 10:30 pm on a Saturday night and that is evidently when Alamo does computer system maintenance. So everything was done by hand, pen and paper. Paperwork at the rental counter and then again at the both exiting the rental lot. Ridiculous!!Took over an hour to get out of there as there were 4 vehicles in front of me. Employees said it happens every Saturday night.Someone needs to push computer maintenance by at least an hour or two.
I came to Alamo after Hertz cancelled my reservation without my permission the last minute. The front desk staff Ryan from Alamo helped me out with a way better deal than Hertz and I was very satisfied with their customer service. Thank you, Ryan! Ill definitely come back again.
I picked up my rental car from Alamo at the Alburquerque Airport. I guess my timing was good ... no line or wait time ... off with a free auto upgrade ... took only 5 minutes. Returning had the same experience ...auto was prepaid through Hotwire and I was back onto the airport shuttle in less than 5 minutes ... no problems at all.
I was greeted by a lovely woman at the Albuquerque Alamo/Enterprise area of the parking lot. She walked me to my choice of cars, discussed which cars had the features I wanted, cruise control and USB port. She then walked around the car marking any little ding or scratch. She noted things I didnt even see. With me in a nice Chevy Cruz, she directed me to the exit and wished me a good day. It was a very pleasant start to my trip.
I was traveling alone with two children and was a bit anxious when I arrived more than two hours late, at night, due to delayed flights. The staff immediately put me at ease. Friendly and helpful shuttle driver, nice counter service at Alamo, and a really kind lady who showed me to our car. The car was a 2016 Jeep Compass that was clean and lovely, and handled beautifully in the snow and ice. Dropoff was a breeze and the the shuttle back was quick and easy.
Very easy shuttle ride from airport, fast check-in process, easy drop off and ride back to airport. Only issue was my purchasing the Drive Happy Deal which allowed them to determine my vehicle size at the time of pickup. The agent gave our party of three, a compact car and told us that we couldnt have a larger one because of the rate we paid but we could opt to pay more to upgrade. She said we would be given a car from the mystery aisle . When we went out to the mystery aisle there were plenty of bigger cars. When the attendant outside saw our dilemma, he graciously gave us a car with ample room. Problem solved! Still dont understand why they have a selection of various sized cars in the mystery aisle if you are given a small one. The whole idea if this promotion is to be given a car without paying to upgrade.
Got a great deal. They were out of cars so they offered a Nissan truck. Perfect.
Great service. No extra charges on your account
Promtly directed to a car. promptly directed to return some. Very easy.
Excellent customer service, both picking up the vehicle and returning it. Unfortunately, I didnt write the gentlemens name down who helped us pick up the vehicle: He was kind, considerate and professional.. I did write down Hannahs name who is the person who we returned the vehicle to: Her happy and professional demeanor was very appreciated. This car rental was a great experience. Thank you Albuquerque Alamo.
The vehicle we rented was okay but a little under powered for the area. The altitude we were at made the 4 cylinder engine a little lacking when it came to quick acceleration requirements. It was a Jeep Cherokee. I also found the staff outside of the main building to be very accommodating and very pleasurable to deal with however, the agent we dealt with inside was very intimidating when it came to adding on your insurance indicating that my insurance would not cover certain damages and that if there were damages to the vehicle we would not be able to leave the country until the vehicle was repaired and that it would cost us thousands of dollars. I dont believe that Alamo has the power to detain a non citizen of the USA so I just ignored most of her comments and left for the area outside. The people outside should be running the inside.
Great service. Really nice people who took good care of us. The rental was clean and reliable and suited our needs. We DID need an SUV on the roads we took and brought it back filthy on the outside. The guy taking the car back just smiled and said, Glad this got used as an SUV should be.
