Want to update our review now that they came out. Winchester did come out to our place and unfortunately their service will not work at our place as the single wasn’t strong enough. However, the installation crew was very helpful in talking us through other options that may work at our cabin. Thank you Chad for helping us through this process and dealing with our frustrations. Please note that they may have to reschedule your installation appointment. For us it was 5 times, but this doesn’t seem typical for most customers.
Facts only:I called Winchester Wireless at the end of March 2021 looking to have service installed at my house. I was told then that they were booked up and first appointment was May 10, 2021. I paid the $45 and committed to the installation. The day of installation, May 10, 2021 no one showed so I called into Winchester Wireless to check status. I was told that I was not on schedule as I had been bumped due to their backlog of installations. They said they could not tell me at that time when they could reschedule me but would call me back trying to get me rescheduled in a week or so.Today, May 28, 2021 I called in and still had no reschedule date and it was like I was stating all over again with the scheduling process. Needless to say I canceled my service and while my current service is horrible I do not have to deal with this kind of unprofessionalism. For the record Winchester Wireless will not show me in their customer database because they could never actually get me scheduled for installation.I decided to cancel the installation request and requested my $45 back.Buyer beware!
Current client of WW, went in to the office to discuss a wifi extender solution. As always staff was very helpful and friendly. Very happy with my internet service that they provide. Highly recommend!
We want to thank David, Chad and the techs at Winchester Wireless. We were very pleased with our service and always felt the team was quick to respond and kept us up and running. It never mattered if it was a late night, weekend or holiday trouble it was typically ratified within minutes of reporting by email. We appreciated the time it took for you to get coverage throughout our home, as well as figuring out just the right mesh system to optimize that coverage. The service provided during covid while the boys worked from home was quite a stress reliever too. We will continue to recommend your company in those rural areas where coverage is tough to receive. We were blessed to have fiber come to our neighborhood so couldnt resist the opportunity!!!!
I was wanting to get the internet service. I scheduled with them to install service over 30 days in advance of move. At the last moment they canceled the install due to tower maintenance. Over the next couple months, I scheduled them 5 other times only for them to cancel at the last moment or day of install. My last call from them to cancel another appointment due to tower maintenance or lack of staff, I just told them I wanted my money back and to cancel my order request. I figured that if there was that much tower maintenance then their internet service may not be reliable. I moved on.
Good luck getting them to come out and install your internet service.
No visibility on outages/latencylong wait times for support
I have had this service for a while now it’s works well when it works but as of late it keeps getting slower and freezing and the connection is lost every 20 minutes or less. It’s disappointing considering I signed up for this service at a lower price, and it seemed to work better before the price increase, so I’m not sure why I have to pay extra? The service isn’t getting better. Wish it was as good as it was the first month.
Do not use their extended signal technology, its very expensive and they started capping our data, using the pandemic as an excuse. They also have outages every other month, the one that caused me to cancel the service lasted several weeks. The only positive thing I can say is their customer service is really good. Weve had problems with them from the start: their installation fees are very high and their on site equipment isnt very good. Even when I got them to install a mesh system (they charge $25 a month for it...), i still had to turn their router on and off on a regular basis when I was having problems. This is not a good alternative to hughes net if you live outside the winchester area. I recommend getting a hotspot from your cell-phone provide if you live out in the country.
When I needed to schedule, I spoke with Koby who was incredibly kind and helpful in meeting our immediate internet needs. He was extremely knowledgeable and explained your product very well. I was very impressed that he was willing to work late on a Friday night in order to assist us. When I requested an appointment confirmation email, Koby was quick to respond and emailed me the confirmation immediately.Jeremy and Seth came to install the equipment to provide us with internet. Both were extremely polite, friendly and professional. Both worked efficiently and provided excellent education on your product. It was a pleasure to watch Jeremy teach Seth. The respect Jeremy gave Seth as his student was a great testament to his abilities as an educator. In my experience, having a technician in your home is an uncomfortable experience, as they are often crude and messy. This was not the case with these people. I was happy to welcome them into my home and was surprised by the cleanliness of their work. Both were very friendly and I enjoyed conversing with them as they worked.
The staff at Winchester wireless is one of a kind. They make themselves available to you always, and genuinely care. I Cannot say I have always had “the best ever” Internet connection, but when I didn’t I could reach out and they got me back up and running right away. I live on a farm with super high trees. No major internet company will even offer service in this area,...I actually think that speaks great volumes about Winchester wireless because they took a chance to provide for customers who are also in super secluded areas and they work so hard to make sure there customers stay connected. This is truly a company who cares so I highly recommend them!
Imagine that you are in the 4th with 1:20 left in the game your down by 5 points or the guy that you have been waiting to hookup with in a movie that has already lasted 2 hrs and the all of a sudden network connection comes up and kicks you out of everythingThis is what you should expect with this company be careful its close to Halloween and this place is definitely a trick not a treat
After issues getting an installation date due to cancellations with weather and miscommunication with the scheduling office- I wish I could show the pictures of what the installation crew did at my house. We were told that the custom installation line would be buried at least 8 inches deep - it was definitely not. They also cut my Directtv line buried next to my house during the installation - they reconnected it, however left the line lying across the yard. After a phone call, they finally came out with the owner to inspect and fix the custom installation by re-burying the line in our field. They also said that they would re-bury the Directtv line that was cut. The site manager also argued that he told me it wasnt buried as deep as it should have been, but it was too dark for him to inspect the other mens work- then how did you know it wasnt done properly? The owner also told me it wasnt necessarily buried 8 inches, however, I was informed during installation that was the depth it would be done. The owner told them to have me check their work before they left. They left after completing the field work, stating theyd be back after getting something to drink from the store- they returned over an hour later. I had to leave the house, so they were gone when I returned 45 minutes later. The line in the field was done properly. The Directtv line was PULLED ACROSS FROM THE SATELLITE AND ZIPTIED TO MY FENCE! I understand that it was possibly shorter due to being cut, but there was absolutely NO EFFORT to contact me in regards to the matter, nor ANY EFFORT to ACTUALLY fix what they messed up in the first place. A piece could have been inserted in order actually fix it properly. I couldve done that myself! This companys only saving grace is the actual service is good - however I can only access one of my lines instead of both as I was informed. For the amount I paid for a CUSTOM installation, as well as my monthly bill, I should NOT be having these kinds of issues. This is not the first grievance Ive had with Winchester Wireless, its not even the second...Ive had to call the office multiple times within a very short amount of time since beginning my installation and service - all resulting in continued issues. Chad has been very professional every time Ive called. However, there seems to be a miscommunication between all parties involved and it was necessary to raise this above what he has been able to accomplish.
Last time i checked my new satellite was supposed to fix my bad internet but it seems like its gotten worse. This service is terrible and half the time i have to wait 3 hours just for my internet to come back online. only good thing is that the customer service is nice and sleek. Also, i didnt know i was paying for 530kb/ps download and 2.85mb/ps upload. perhaps thats an error?
This is not the kind of company that has 24 he service from India (no offense big companies) but it is the kind of company when you have an issue the owner comes out personally to trouble shoot. It’s the kind of business where all the members know your name and understand that many of their customers have no other internet choice and they can provide speeds that well exceed other satellite carriers. They feel just as passionately about providing high speed internet as their customers do about their ability to have it. The more our society relies on the internet for basic daily tasks, the more important it is to have small companies like this. I’ll recommend them to everyone.
If I could give no stars I would worst ever Ive ever used cuts off every 2 minutes and takes 2 days to download anything. And as a landlord never will fix anything and scams you. DONT SAY I DIDNT WARN YOU WATCH OUT WITH THIS BUM
Not a lot of options where I live. WW provides a much needed service at affordable prices. 6+ years and I have no complaints. No contract, no data limits, very responsive to any issues and always working to upgrade and provide better service to their customers. Grateful I have this option.
“We have no record of this person in our customer database. Please identify yourself so that we can resolve your issues. Don’t just complain online IF YOU EVEN ARE A CUSTOMER. Contact our tech support to...blah blah blah”If you hate Netflix and other streaming services, then Winchester Wireless is right for you!Buffering? Check.Loading? Check.Signal unavailable? Check. The best internet non-service in the valley.Would highly recommend to masochists and the generally defeated. Worth every penny if you’re on the verge of suicide and need that final push! After all, you’re worthless anyway; unless you’re signing the check to Mr. Williamson. You may very well be the primary user, yet the account is in your spouse’s name. So, you don’t even exist!“We have no record of this person in our customer database.”My eyes are closed; I can’t see you.Top notch dismissive attitude! Best of the best when it comes to ducking responsibility and making you feel like the problem! They throttle like no other! One of the best companies to reel you in then grab the gaff! All aboard for getting screwed!Hand out the trophy now for the greatest con game in Winchester! Hands down, this company is a winner!!!
In all fairness and honesty, it is a great service considering the technology and mother nature, especially if you live in a location with no internet options! Hats off to the service guys! They stay busy climbing towers, listening to our complaints about not having service during thunderstorms etc.. When the leaves came in on the trees I was told it would impact service if I didnt do something about our trees. Im not Paul Bunyan. Overall, Im a happy customer.
No company is perfect but this company strives to fix what isnt right and that is what counts for me!! I have been able to work towards my masters degree online with no problem and have been able to steer clear of Comcast in our rural area.
When I called they warned me that it was possible that at my location their equipment wouldnt be able to connect to their primary tower network. I made it clear that I only wanted their service if the primary network was available - Im not interested in the LTE based secondary service as it has lower bandwidth which is throttled down 70% if you exceed your monthly allotment. They scheduled a visit to come & test for signal strength. It took a couple of minutes to determine that the primary signal is not available here. What they failed to mention was the $45 fee for telling me that they couldnt help me. That seems excessive to me. The tech wanted me to write my complete credit card info (with the 3-digit code!) on a grubby form for him to take back to the office. Not Likely. What a hustle.
Awful internet. We maybe have internet 40% of the time and we are paying over $100 for this service. I cant even work from home or stream TV most days.We continue to be promised it will get better and a tower is to be built in the neighborhood but they are all lies. We have days where our internet is just completely out and no help or compensation is provided. If you have any I mean any other option for internet service take it.
I wish I could give Winchester Wireless 4.5 stars, but the review design limits me to either 4 or 5 stars. Since no business is perfect, Ive reluctantly selected 4 stars.I live in a rural mountain area 16 miles from Winchester and often work from home, thanks to Winchester Wireless. They provide reliable service that I didnt think we could get where we live. The staff is responsive and knowledgeable and quickly resolved the two issues Ive had since early 2017. In addition to supporting my engineering work, Winchester Wirelesss service enables our family to game, take online courses, conduct online research, and stream videos.Prior to using Winchester Wireless I was stuck in a 2-year contract with a competitor whose service rarely worked, and while they knew we didnt have service they wouldnt release me from the contract. Winchester Wireless has no contract; I believe they dont need to tie us to a contract because if were not happy with their service they want us to find a provider that meets our needs. Thats a good business model, and another reason Im staying with Winchester Wireless.
Living out in the boonies, we really only have two options for unlimited Internet. After being stuck in a contract with Wave2Net for two years and never getting the speeds we paid for (usually not enough speed to even function which cost us data overages from our cell provider), we switched to Winchester Wireless. Mr. Williamson and his team provide prompt customer service on the rare occasion there is an issue, and we regularly receive the speeds for which we pay. Very pleased!
Ive had internet provided by Winchester Wireless for over two years now, with excellent service. I have the unthrottled speed, getting right at 20 Mbs consistently. Rarely, it slows for a few moments, then kicks back up. We run our smart tv through it, with excellent results. Highly recommended, and beats Verizon Homelink at every level. They are very professional.
Winchester Wireless has provided uninterrupted service to our home since April 2019. The service has been Excellent since we changed internet providers. Our previous providers service was unreliable on the net.
The service from Winchester Wireless is absolutely superb. It is the best internet service that I have ever used in my life. We live way out in a remote and rural part of Frederick County and suffered from other lousy wireless and satellite services for years. Since moving to Winchester Wireless our experience has been absolutely fantastic. The service is up all the time, and the technical support is great. This is a fantastic company and business, and I highly recommend it.
A fantastic local ISP who provides services where the big boys wont. Cable-like speeds combined with a very friendly and able staff of installers and technicians = a great value. Ive been a customer from the start, seeing the company continue to grow and regularly offer the newest technologies available. Would highly recommend.
We have been customers of Winchester Wireless for several years. Our location is problematic for good connectivity due to trees and terrain. In spite of this, Winchester Wireless has worked with us over time to find the best hardware solution possible to provide us with the best internet service available in our location. Everyone has always been polite, friendly, and professional. In addition, the price is a bargain and their automated billing has never had an issue.
I think Winchester Wireless is Great! The radio receiver internet connection is very good and allows my Roku to stream in HD.Much better than the overpriced box Verizon sold me with limited data.Service is good and a local person answers the phone. Installation crew was very professional and do it in no time at all.Very few outages. Unlike satellite, service is good even in storms.
These guys are top-notch in every way. The quality and reliability of the internet service is the best available. We tried Dish/WildBlue and other local providers first, and Winchester Wireless was by far the best. And on top of that, their customer service is excellent. The few times there were glitches, they were on top of it and most of the time it turned out to be inside equipment, not the actual service. I recommend them highly.
I have had a terrible time with these people the worst service I have ever had. I was promised a high speed connection but how is a .14 download speed and a .06 upload speed fast. I would give zero stars if I could.
I only get 4 mb and spend 150 on internut
Customer service is awful wouldn’t recommend this company 1 mile makes plan 15 dollars more not right
Ive had the good fortune to hire Custom Computers and its sister company Winchester Wireless in 2008 and 2011 respectively. I own two companies in Winchester, VA and am always on the hunt for talented vendor support. That need ended with the discover of David Williamson and his competent staff. Daves company has provided exceptional service and product but what makes this company most special is that he and his staff are always ready to go the extra mile when required. For example, I was having difficulty with a Office 2010 Excel and it was nearly 9pm when I was trying to finish up with a proposal. I left his office a voicemail and explained the circumstances and within 45 minutes, he called with a solution. When I hired Winchester Wireless in 2011 for my Internet service provider, I was amazed at how much his company had grown from zero subscribers in 2008 when he started the company to over 900 by 2011. We moved to the country and one of our great concerns was facing high speed Internet at a reasonable rate. Dave and his staff installed all of the equipment on schedule and I was able to get sufficient speed to let the kids watch all of their Utube and Netflix videos while my wife and I worked from home. Dave has since become a close friend and never fails to be a valued resource for business and personal issues. I would hire Dave Williamson and his companys without hesitation and have referred many business friends. My prompting for writing today was because I was reminded of his value for hunting down the best deals when I asked him to find me a cheap tablet for $50 bucks or less in Friday. He sent me an email telling me this morning that he found one. Folks, its that kind of support that you rarely find in other vendor relationships. Thank you Dave!
I’ve had service with Winchester Wireless since 2011, and they keep improving their service and capabilites. They are a small business that is very involved in the local community. I gave Winchester Wireless 5 stars, and I usually do not give a full 5 stars in a review. They have been one of the best companies overall I’ve done business with.As far as the internet service and speeds if you live in a rural area there isn’t any other company in the Winchester Wireless service area that is going to be able to give you better internet speeds and customer service. The overall reliability and the consistency of the speeds depends on your location and if you can get a direct line of sight to the towers. I had a 2.4GHz antenna (non direct line of sight) and had a lot of ups and downs due to heavy trees. I worked closely with Dave the owner of Winchester Wireless and decided to build a tower to get me over the trees to get direct line of sight to fix my reliability issue. I now see a consistent 30-50mbps download and 10-15mbps upload speed. Not everyone is able to build a tower which is why they are constantly researching and testing new technologies to get the best internet service as possible to their customers. The owner Dave and his team have been very professional and easy to work with. I’ve had great response times and interaction when it comes to customer service on getting issues resolved. The owner Dave can come across direct at times, but if you talk it through with him he will go above and beyond to get it worked out for you along with the rest of this team.
Winchester Wireless has really awesome customer service. When ever there is an issue with my service or even just a random question the Winchester Wireless team is there to help. Whether by phone support or via Facebook. They respond with with in minutes even on weekends when a problem arises and gets to work on fixing the issue.
Thanks so much for what you have done at Camp Rock Enon. The WiFi was reliable, had good coverage, and enhanced my troops experience. Thanks again!
Since 2010, Winchester Wireless has been our ISP. Over that time, we have found them to be an extremely reliable and fast internet provider. Their service allows us to telecommute, game, and even stream movies from a rural location. In the rare times we have had issues, I can email the owner and always get a quick, friendly response. Winchester Wireless has made our lives better, and I recommend them without any reservations.
Weve had Winchester Wireless for about 4 years. The service was slow and spotty years ago but with the new towers the internet speed is much better. We had Verizon jetpack for a while--it worked fairly good but was extremely expensive in comparison with Winchester Wireless.Winchester Wireless has always been decent with their service and returning calls. They are trying and they are improving!! Keep it up guys!!
IF their broadband internet actually works... A 28.8 dialup modem from 1993 is still faster.
The best we can find for our area, after beginning service with them over 2 years ago, and then regrettably leaving to try and find a better deal, we have realized that with Winchester Wireless you get what you pay for and more. We have very little trouble with outages, and when they do occur they are fixed promptly. Tech help is efficient and honest, no up-sells or pushy promises. We are able to stream movies, FaceTime with friends and family and have several devices online at once. I appreciate getting internet from a company that has been honest with us, helpful and pleasant. We will stay with Winchester Wireless as long as possible! How nice to have a company that works with you instead of against you!
I’m writing this review as a prospective customer based off my interactions with Winchester Wireless (WW); I have attempted for the past 7 months to give WW my business as well as numerous other members of my neighborhood via HOA, but they have been unresponsive and unwilling to work with me/us.Our situation warranted a tower to be built in order for us to get their wireless signal. That being said, I’m glad this company didn’t accept our offer to help pay for a tower to be built in our neighborhood - they displayed a total lack of customer support and attention.I found out about WW from a lawn sign that was posted at an intersection advertising faster internet than the satellite that we currently have. Based off the fact that they were advertising, I assumed WW wanted new business, so I called. Below are the highlights of my interactions with them.Positives:1. One particular employee (Chad) provided good customer service over the phone and was very friendly.2. Their owner attended an HOA meeting of ours and provided good information. He also eliminated an unnecessary expenditure on my part by informing me of previous site surveys that were done on our neighborhood.Negatives:1. Their employees aren’t empowered to deal with prospective customers. Each time I called (approx. 10 times between 9am and 5pm), I was told the owner needed to be consulted, but every time except once the owner had either not arrived yet, was at lunch, was “in the field,” or had left for the day. I got the sense the owner didn’t want to be bothered and worked stiff banking hours. I don’t appreciate calling, being told they have to get back to me with further information, then not getting a call back.2. Lack of follow-up; because our situation called for a tower to be built, WW needed a certain number of plan commitments in order to get a return on their investment. I did the leg work compiling plan commitments from my HOA. I had to keep calling WW back as I had only been followed up with once in terms of how many more plan commitments were needed to begin the tower build. Once I realized we weren’t going to get enough plans for the initial tower build, I asked how much money we would need to pay up front to make up the difference in cost, but the only response I received was the owner calling out his own employee for not acquiring the necessary information. I responded to that email, and again wasn’t followed up with. What type of owner copies their own employee on an email to a customer saying that employee didn’t do his job? Take care of the issue, not pass the buck.To sum it up, I wouldn’t recommend attempting to get service with this company because of the lack of attention they paid to me and the 5 other homes I was representing. I attempted for 7 months to throw money at this company, but there was no effort on their end to secure our business. I can’t imagine the lack of attention I would get if they already had my money coming in and I had a service issue. We ended up getting an AT&T mobile hot spot.Update 12/21/18:WW responded to me directly regarding a review I posted on Facebook. After doing so, they were able to provide me with high speed internet without building a tower. The WW team was responsive and acted quickly. If you have an issue, I would recommend reaching out via their Facebook page based off my experience. In addition, they monitored my internet speed after installation to ensure I was getting the speeds I am paying for. While doing this, they noticed a change to my speed as a result of a router I hooked up after installation and helped me work around the problem.I’m leaving the review at 3 stars for now due to the frustration experienced over the first few months prior to service installation, but so far so good after getting service.
We got Winchester Wireless about a year ago and during the first 30 days (the money back trial period) we were impressed with the service. After that, everything has been horrible. Literally as soon as the trial was over the speed of the connection dropped significantly even after contacting them numerous times about the issue. The company never returns phone calls EVER. We have had nothing but horrible internet speeds and service ever since. They keep the internet running good during the trial, after that, prepare for constant dropping, slow speeds, and bad customer service from then on.
I must say that I once used another company that claimed to be the same for the location we live in, I was very very skeptical when I spoke to winchester wireless about their services. I cant say its been perfect and I have been extremely frustrated with it at times, but what I can say is that they absolutely have great customer service. This is something that means everything to me. Without it a company is nothing!
Great internet service
Winchester Wireless is a God send. He live too far out to get normal high speed internet - like DSL or cable. So we first tried a Satellite service. The satellite service was so unreliable and slow. A friend told me about Winchester Wireless, and so we tried them out. That has been 3-4 years ago, and we are very happy ever since. In the springtime after a rain and the trees were all wet, we would have some outages, so we emailed Winchester Wireless. They came out and installed updated equipment, and the service is even better now.
We live in a rural area of the county and were using a cellular hotspot with data limits as our internet for the first year we lived here. I then did some research and found there were two local companies that offered high speed internet in our area. We live too far out to have any hardwired internet. Of the two companies offering internet I went with Winchester Wireless. I chose them for two reasons. First reason being the positive things I had heard from other people regarding great customer service these guys provide, as well as the fact they DO NOT make you sign a lengthy contract. The fact that Winchester Wireless does not make you sign a contract speaks volumes in my opinion to their belief in the product they are providing to their customers. Winchester Wireless has not let me down. The team is very capable and intelligent in providing a reliable service to my family and I. You get what you pay for with this company. Customers should be glad that Winchester Wireless is around here to provide internet to rural areas. Many rural areas arent as lucky as we are to have a company that offers high speed internet, WITHOUT DATA LIMITS, at a reasonable price. Anytime I have had to reach out to the team for technical support they have been on top of the issue quickly and resolved the issue to my satisfaction. There are going to be times when your internet may slow due to the amount of volume on the network(weekend evenings) but for the most part I have never not been able to do what I needed to do with the internet. If you live in a rural area and are looking for a good internet company without garbage data limits, then I highly suggest you give these guys a call and let them tell you if they can service your location with internet. They have software at the office and can quickly give you an honest answer as to whether or not they can get internet to your house. They will be honest and also offer a trial period.
If I could give it 0 starts I would. After the owner contacted me on my Facebook using his private Facebook account about trying to keep my business after a month of no internet he told me I would get a refund for the month of June. Its now middle August and they finally sent the refund to an old payment method not the payment method on file. After several attempts to contact him after he told me he would be contacting his billing department and looking into with no response i it posted on social media hoping to get an answer from him. That is where he publicly posted my banking information, said he doesnt use his personal Facebook and stated his company doesnt keep old payment methods on file. I have the proof to back up that he is lying and that no refund was ever received to the closed account being it was closed weeks before he refunded the money. I will be contacting the BBB
Internet is up to my standards as far as rural internet goes. Customer service is easy to get a hold of on their FB group page and they are quick to make right any issues I have had.
Fantastic speed. We tried other rural providers and they were much slower. Winchester Wireless internet is fast. Virtually no buffering time with netflix and no rebuffering during the movie. I rarely ever need customer service, but when I have called they are prompt and take care of the issue. They are the best option
This is the absolute worst internet provider in the market, these people wont come fix the issue they just give you some lame excuse to try to fix it yourself. They just want you to spend more money forcing you to spend more money on other companies with ends up being a good thing because they promised a fast internet yea a joke I cant even stay in a Xbox live party for 10 seconds well anyway please dont choose this internet company.
Slow and cuts out all the time not reliable, wouldnt waste a penny DO NOT GET THIS EVEN IF YOU HAVE NO INTERNET YOURE BETTER OFF WITH A STICK AND ROCK WORST SIGNAL (NOT CALLING IT INTERNET BECAUSE ITS NOT) EVER CONSTANTLY SHUTTING OFF AND I MEAN CONSTANTLY
We recently switched to Winchester Wireless from Wave2Net in December 2016.After years of paying for service that we were not getting,we are finally able to use the internet for general use, online bill paying, streaming movies,Xbox live, computer gaming etc. and we have absolutely no complaints. We no longer have a contract that only offers someones best effort which if that was the best I would hate to see the worst.Instead,we have internet that actually works and very happy tech savvy teenagers. If youre looking for great service,Winchester Wireless should be at the top of your list.
Can’t even watch Family Guy on Hulu because it’s so slow. This internet service is a quag.
Geniuses! this service is for gods among men. never falter and always do well.
If youre living in an area that isnt serviceable with conventional DSL/cable internet methods, Winchester Wireless will be there to save the day. The service isnt perfect, but it definitely beats any of the other options I had at the time. (Satellite, dial-up, etc.)Pros:-Good ping/latency.-Support is wonderful to deal with.-Facebook group keeps customers well informed on updates and scheduled downtime.Neutral:-Speeds tend to dip to near half during peak hours. (May be something to do with my signal alone.)Cons:-Quite pricey, even for the lower-speed packages.-Unplanned downtime every now and then.Overall: 6.5/10I dont have the best reception to their towers, so I am only getting their 1.5mbps down and 768kbps up plan. If you are within the range for a better plan, Im sure the peak hours slowdown will be negligible. Winchester Wireless outperformed my expectations in the long run, and Im very grateful that a service like this was in my area after all.
Good service and good price especially for customers who live out in the mountains like I do. I can get internet with no thresh hold limits and can actually play XBOX live with very little to no lag. There are SOME peak times that A LOT of people must be on that the internet may be a little dragging but that only lasts for a short period of time then it gets back to normal. Every time I have had an issue Wes (the repair guy) or Steven (the tech guy) have been more than helpful with helping me resolve my issues and getting back up online. I can not wait for the new upgrades when I become eligible and can get even faster speeds .. thank you for providing good internet to the boonies !
Winchester Wireless is wonderful. When you choose a company like this for internet its because they have the ability to get you internet where crimecast cant. In fact pound for pound some of the best customer service i have ever had with any compnay. David and team go above and beyond to make sure your service is good. I cant say enough good things about them. If you need internet service and they are in your area its the smart choice.
I live off route 50 west near Back Mountain Road. I purchased my home four years ago, and we had tired all options for internet including Hughes Net, Dish Net, and Verizon MiFi device. Hughes Net simply Horrible! Verizon was okay for a year, and a half until they introduced 4G in my area and service dropped constantly, and they limited usage. So, in November 2013 I started to look for a new internet provider.Winchester Wirelesss customer service team presented their services well and explained all fees. I felt they knew their business, but was still a bit apprehensive due to reviews and the amount for the equipment purchase. During my visit to their office and requested to speak with the owner, and surprisingly he came out to speak with me. He addressed all concerns, and I feel went above and beyond. I took the leap and purchased the equipment and signed up for service. It is now February 2014, and I must say I am impressed with my internet services. Besides it running a little slower between the hours of 5pm- 10pm (which I was made aware of before signing up), I feel its the best for my area.
Winchester Wireless practices a bait and switch scam, where a customer has a money back period during the initial 30 days. During that time your connection will be great with little to no issues. Then after the 30 day period is up. Your connection is severely degraded with restrictions. Outages become an every day occurrence. If you complain, David Williamson first, will try to blame your equipment. Next, he blames radio interference. If you happen to know computer networking, and prove it is an issue on his network. He will tell you to take it or leave it. Offer you $100 to buy back your equipment. My initial install was over $600. He regularly deletes any and all Facebook entries made by Winchester Wireless customers which paint him or Winchester Wireless in a negative light. Currently my connection has 50 plus outages a day. Each lasting anywhere from 2-12 seconds. I proved there was an issue on his network, which he promptly demanded I pinpoint the problem on his network. I refuses and was subsequently deleted from the Facebook Winchester Wireless. Thus hiding his broken network from other customers. In my opinion David Williamson is a thief and a conman. He regularly berates and insults customers on the fore mentioned Facebook group. The Better Business Bureau has given him a grade of F. Save your money and find something else.
Great service. An absolute pleasure to do business with.
Careful everyone, they have a tendency to talk big about them selfs but when it comes to upgrading your bandwidth they dont come over or they break your antenna like they did mine.
I bought this internet provider because they gave me suCC :)
Worst internet service Ive ever dealt with. We had Winchester wireless installed on 02/01/16. Within the month we decided to cancel. They showed up about a week later for the equipment. I was sick with the flu and couldnt get out of bed and my husband had told them to not come get it that day(or at least wait until he called them back) but they showed up and got on the roof without permission. It took about 3 weeks for the money to be returned into my husbands account after he called and had to tell them to process the refund. We had the installation fee split in two between my account and my husbands, when we called to see why my half hadnt been returned they had no record of it on the account and had to search for my card information and never sent him a receipt for my half of the return. We called and were told all of the refund was put into my husbands account. Very annoyed with this company and not impressed with their customer service.would not recommend for anyone!
Customer service and owner are horrible!
Terrible. Not worth the money. Need to update their network or something.
I wish I could rate this internet lower than 1 star, the connection and service is that bad, bandwidth is terrible, so good luck if your kids play any video games that are online, or if you are parents that work from home.
Very unprofessional company. I wouldnt get service through them if it were my only choice.
Great place
