We love Academy of Traditional Karate. My 8 year old daughter started in summer of 2020 during the pandemic. She started classes outside and I can say that the dojo has always had their students at heart from the moment we started with them. They offered so many options - outside classes, zoom classes, and once they were able, inside classes again. My daughter has done them all and the quality is always the same - high level! The dojo is very encouraging and helpful and it has many fun extra activities if you want to take advantage of them. We’re so glad we found this place so that our daughter could continue to be active on a group environment throughout the pandemic!

When the pandemic hit it shut every thing down. The Academy quickly adapted to Zoom classes to insure their students continue to learn and advance. Once limited in-house classes could be held they quickly and safely adapted again, providing Zoom, outside, and inside training. Outstanding people running an outstanding karate academy

The Academy of Traditional Karate is amazing and I couldnt be happier that weve started our son there. The staff at every level are warm, knowledgeable and supportive. There is such a great energy about the place and I love that the kids get just as much character education as they do physical education. Throughout the pandemic ATK has continued to offer flexible options for classes and they are clearly diligent about health and safety. Highly recommend!!

My daughter (4) wanted to try karate. I was excited for her and thrilled about her getting training not only in self defense but also in how to conduct yourself as a respectful child. ATK did not disappoint! The instructors are amazing and my daughter is learning so much every week. I would highly recommend!!

Both of our boys have spent years at the Academy of Traditional Karate. It has been such a great experience for them; one for the Karate but more importantly they have have gained amazing friendships, learned a lot of life lessons and their time there has helped them mature into responsible young men. Cannot say enough good things about the Academy.

All 4 of my kids have been training at ATK for over 10 years. It is the best decision we’ve ever made! The school is caring, committed and teaches much more than just karate. They help kids stay focused, disciplined and learn about self respect and bullying prevention. You will not find a better program or instructors anywhere.

ATK is amazing! My son is going on his 3rd here (started when he was just 5) and he loves it. All of the staff is amazing and helpful! Even through the pandemic the past year they have not missed a beat. Transitioning from in-person to online in two weeks, and then opening up outside classes and getting back indoors, for those who feel comfortable with doing so. The protocols they put in place and are following have created a safe and fun atmosphere in this year of uncertainty and provided a place for my son to exercise, learn, and grow. Thanks again to the whole team at ATK!!

Both of my kids attend the Academy of Traditional Karate and has been great for both of them. Not only do they learn karate, but many real life lessons. I could not be happier with the results over the past 7 years and looking forward to many more!

My grandson has been enrolled for 3 years. Excellent experience for him. Multiple classes during the week allow you to work around other activities. The staff is very knowledgeable and always willing to help with any issues you may have. It is not easy to achieve your black belt. At this school you will get all the help you need to achieve your goals. Highly recommend.

Academy of traditional karate is great, the staff is supportive and friendly, we love it!

We were looking for karate classes for our son of four because he was small for his age and shy. We visited a few places in the area and were turned off by some of the hard-sells. The Academy of Traditional Karate was different. It was a family owned and family oriented traditional karate dojo that taught so much more than just punching and kicking. They teach holistic traditional karate and have many families training. We signed him up immediately and he loved the classes. That was 16 years ago. Since then we loved the school so much that I also joined and we were able to train together over the years and we are now both high level adult black belts who still train there. We love it that much!

My daughter really loves this place, I dont think its a traditional karate place, in addition of karate, they focus on discipline and other self improvement techniques. Very flexible on make up class, instructors are always responsive and making sure the student is progressing towards the goal. I would definite recommend this place.

I have been in the Academy since I was 7 years old (over 25 years). I have been a student and a teacher in the school. It is a place that really cares about its students. Learning life skills and self defense are so important. When you are a student at the Academy, you arent just a number, you are part of a community.

I first arrived at the Academy of Traditional Karate when i was 12 years old and my mom and I were blown away with the quality of it from day 1. I’ve been Training at the Dojo for over 12 years now and its like a second home to me, Ive learned so many things both helpful to my karate and my everyday life! It’s an incredible place to be.

I cant say enough good things about the school. There is attention to detail and a high level of excellence in experience, facilities, and instruction. Young student learn fitness, confidence, discipline and respect. Its great for families with complementary class schedules. The adult instruction is equally strong and the students are a supportive community.

The Academy of Traditional Karate (ATK) is an outstanding blend of Martial Arts, Physical Fitness, and Life skills training for youth and adults. I have trained here for 10 years with my son and daughter. My children have grown in this dojo and had reinforcement of our family values, have learned and practiced important life skills such as Bully Management, personal restraint, and positive focus and mind set, and have translated them into real life situations with successful results. For myself, I have a place to go, learn and teach, be challenged and forget the frustrations of the day.I highly recommend Martial Arts training for anyone, but the environment is key and ATK provides a complete system and training environment that can adapt to anyones needs.I give the Academy my highest recommendation and I am there 3-4 days if you want to ask me more !

Honestly, if everyone in the world was taught karate the way the Academy Of Traditional karate teaches karate, the world would be a better place

I started martial arts in the midwest, in Illinois. As I grew up, I went to a residential high school outside Chicago and a college in Massachusetts. Along the way I trained in at least a half dozen dojos and saw at least that many more. Finding the Academy of Traditional Karate was awesome for me--it showed me that there is such a thing as a professional martial artist. The school is spotless, a huge facility, the staff was courteous and polite, and the instructors take a genuine interest in the students they teach (ages 3+). I have found the dojo where I want to train for the rest of my active career. Definitely check it out!
