Ten stars, without a doubt.... Actually, I have drafted this review at least three times: there are no perfect words. I lost my best friend, who shared with me 14yrs, a move halfway across the country, and lots of late night dance contests. Windcrest were the only ones even available near me during the first wave of the pandemic, and that clearly was exactly where I was supposed to go. The entire Staff, including the awesome Volunteers at the front desk, were solemn but warm, serious and present. They gave me space to understand that this was really happening and only made me talk to give the crucial details. I loved my guy ENTIRELY, always will, and they handled him like fine crystal; as if they knew he was perfect, too. Without knowing anything about us two, Windscrest surrounded us, carried us, and offered a life-changing experience of kindness, professionalism, and humanity.

Windcrest was great. They were able to take care of our 9 year old orange tabby who isn’t the happiest with vets. They handled him with care and gentle hands. They provided wonderful service at good prices. And they have been more that communicative with emails, phone calls, and answering all of our questions. Thank you again!

I had to put my cat Hope to sleep today after her fight with cancer and i just wanted to say thank you to the amazing vet tech and doctor who took care of her today. they were both so kind and empathetic, i didn’t feel like i needed to put on a brave face. after she passed, the tech who took her out of the room was so gentle and loving with her, it was the last time i ever saw my baby and she held her just like how i would’ve. it really made a difference for the last memory i had of her to be a graceful one. thank you

I live nearly two hours south of Windcrest Animal Hospital. I am a new owner of a leopard gecko and I thought he might be sick. I called five other vet offices around the area, but none were able to see my exotic pet. When I called Windcrest, the receptionist was very nice and helped me set up an appointment right away. She explained everything to me. When it came time for my appointment, I met Dr. Hammill. She was so nice and informative! She helped me with understanding what I need to do for my gecko and gave me handouts. I left a stool sample and they text me the results a few days later. I felt very relieved with the care my gecko received. I would highly recommend this place, especially for exotic pets.

My daughter brought our dog here for emergency care last Sunday night and what a nightmare. The dog was extremely lethargic, could hardly keep her eyes open for the last couple of days, we assume a reaction from a recent dose of Frontline. No other ER was open. The doctor on call did the blood work, found nothing wrong, assumed the dog was in pain (totally not in her demeanor at all), didnt listen to my daughter, and gave the dog a shot of Buprenex...an opioid...for a dog who was lethargic already! The total bill was over $600!!! When they got home, this animal was so stressed out from the shot and breathing so fast, I thought shed have a heart attack. Weve been in contact since and the staff has been extremely sympathetic. The doctor, not so much. Were only looking for a small refund of the unnecessary shot and maybe a portion of the ER services. Nothing. I would NEVER recommend bringing an animal here for emergency services.

It’s normally a great place. I took my cat as a emergency and they took a sample of what he has. I waited three weeks I called once the second week hit and once the third week was coming. Front desk when I called were kinda rude and snotty as if they didn’t want to hear about me asking to see if my cats results came back yet. The third time I left a message being straight forward and upfront. Finally the doctor called and gave me my results. To be honest after all the hassle I went through just to get his results I will not be taking my cat here anymore.

My Daughter was on her way to work and passed a turtle in the road that was injured. She didnt know how badly though, so she called us and wanted us to check it out. So my Husband and Son went to look at it. It was in pretty bad shape and suffering. My Vets office gave me the number to Windcrest Animal Hospital because they deal with exotic animals.. When I called them they said my Husband and Son could bring the turtle there so the poor thing wouldnt have to suffer. Very thankful good people who care.

We had to take our kitty over late last Friday night and even though they were swamped I absolutely felt that they took their time with her and were extremely caring and thorough. Unfortunately, we have experienced quite a few emergency vets in the past few years but I always left feeling rushed and over charged and had little to no answers, but I definitely did not feel that way after this visit. I felt totally at ease taking her home with clear instructions on next steps. Thanks you to the awesome staff for making us feel so at ease especially during these crazy times.

I absolutely love this place. They are very kind and amazing, and even during this pandemic, they treat you and your pets with much love and respect. I had taken 2 of my kittens and their mother to the vet, and they treated each one with tender love and care, and upon receiving them back, they went on and on about how sweet and playful my babies were. It didn’t cost me too much, actually it s less than what I thought I’d have to pay, taking 3 animals at a time, but they have a discount for bringing in more than 2 at a time, which I think is fantastic. Sadly, one of my other kittens last week, and with no place to store his remains, they said they’d store him for me, and have the crematorium that they’re affiliated with pick him up the next day. They were so kind as to give me a beautiful blue envelope with a poem written in silver, and another poem, both of them about very heartfelt and assuring me that everything was going to be okay and that I’d meet with my little boy Ashura again one day. They even donated $10 to the Save The Animals Adoption Center in memory of him, which I found so endearing. It took much faster than I would have thought to receive his ashes, and they called me promptly. The people I spoke with on those two separate occasions extended their condolences to me and were very caring about my loss.

Way to expensive!! If your pet needs to be seen that day and no appointments are available, which they usually are not, you have to go to emergency which is $500 just to be seen. They get you coming and going. These pets are family and it is horrible that you are exploded financially when you are trying to save your pets life. This shows me that they care more about the money than your pet. Awful way to do business when it concerns a pet that is a family member.

Dont go here. Along with the horribly high costs, they cannot fill out paperwork correctly. My friends dog passed away due to age and other complications, and when my friend received what was SUPPOSED to be the dogs ashes and a paw print, she only received the ashes because they did not include the information about the paw print in the papers for the crematorium. They were QUICK to charge her the money for it but couldnt put it on the papers? Horrible.Edit: She also told them multiple times about the paw because they asked multiple times.

Our regular vet referred us to Windcrest when our Greenwinged Macaw Goose was in obvious respiratory distress. She called ahead to alert Windcrest as we left to drive there. The tech was waiting for us when we arrived and immediately took Goose in to start working on him. She came out several times to update us on his condition, which was grave. She described in detail their plans for the rest of the day and said they would call with updates. They called a couple of times that night to keep us informed on his condition and how they were proceeding. The doctor called first thing the next day. Goose had sent the night in an oxygen chamber to assist his breathing. They had done blood work and x-rays, and determined that he had an infection, and had given him antibiotics, pain medicine, and anti-inflammatory drugs. He was still very sick, but the doctor was encouraged.Later that day the tech called to say she had been sitting with Goose hand feeding him bananas and oranges and making sure he was drinking. He seemed to be doing better. She was as thrilled as we were. The obviously pleased doctor called again the morning of the third day to say that Goose had improved so much that they though it was time for him to come home. When we picked him up the tech came out with his discharge instructions, the two medicines we needed to give him twice a day, and sat talking to him before we left. Its now 5 weeks later. Goose has been to his regular vet for booster shots and blood tests, and is 100% back. Only the hard work of our vet and the staff at Windcrest kept him alive. Skill and training only get you so far. These people are dedicated, caring, and talented, and I think them for everything they did. They are definitely on my Refer to Friends list.

It came time to put down my dog Wiggles and no matter how many Im sorry for your loss I heard I still cant help but feel that they were insensitive. My mother and I waited an hour for them to call us in saying they were ready and both of us had to desperately use the bathroom by the time we went in and they refused to let us go. I get it with COVID and everything but feel like my time was rushed with my baby because I had to do a dance while I said my goodbyes and I got to a point where I just couldnt hold it anymore and we had to go. Then I had requested her paw print along with her ashes AND THEY CHARGED ME AND NEVER PUT IT ON THE PAPERWORK FOR THE CREMATORY TO DO IT. They issued my refund but I wanted the paw print not the money and now thats something Ill never get to have. I already disliked this vet from previous experiences but they were the closest option open that late and my baby was suffering. They managed to make an already awful experience even worse.

My little dog had developed an issue where he seemed in a lot of pain and was terribly shaking his head. I had no choice but to take him in for an emergency visit. His regular vet, faithful friends does not have emergency visits, so since windcrest is only 5 minutes away, we called them. Now, this is the only reason Im giving 4 stars and not 5.... Being disabled, I dont make much, and only get paid once a month, which was the day after I was trying to make his appointment. There was no way they would see him unless we paid right then and there, and the price for the visit was really high, 159.00 right off the bat.I had to apply for some credit, which thank God I got approved for to be able to get him taken care of.His normal vet charges is 38.00 a visit, so we really werent prepared for these high costs. But that being said, they were very nice there, and the Dr, who we had to speak with by phone, after sending Yoshi in by himself, another thing we werent thrilled about, but his regular vet was operating the same way, so Im not blaming windcrest for that with the covid issues, but anyway, the Dr took time to thoroughly explain exactly what was going on and did not make me feel rushed at all. They took great care of my little pal, and got him fixed up with some meds and he was feeling much better within a day. Then two or three days later, they called for a follow up to see how he was doing, and they answered several questions I had again. So I was very satisfied with their professionalism, and the way they treated both me and Yoshi. If your not really limited by a fixed income, I highly recommend them based on my first experience with them. If I ever need to take him anywhere for an emergency again, it will be there.

Written by my mom:I have been taking my cats to Windcrest for years. Recently, one of my cats got really sick, stayed in their ICU for 2 days, was released to me, took a turn for the worse that night and was euthanized the next day. He had cancer. Never during his stay in ICU was cancer ever mentioned! Never! While it is so hard to lose a pet, the situation was made worse by the complete lack of communication by the hospital. After paying over $4000 in vet bills, I was left with absolutely no answers. That is, until a necropsy was performed. After this heartbreaking experience, I will not be returning and hope nothing like this happens to others.

Ive been taking my dogs to Windcrest since 2006. I cannot say enough about the staff, especially the doctors, the vet technicians, and assistants. They are obviously well qualified, but just as importantly, there is no doubt that they genuinely CARE about you and your pet. Ive had regular appointments, emergency visits, and just nail trim and/or vaccine visits. To add to the review above regarding dental care -- My dog had anesthesia last December for two biopsies and no one mentioned a single word about cleaning his teeth or anything else since he was going to have anesthesia anyway. My dog is 9+ years old! Also, the safety features for COVID prevention currently in place to keep the staff and clients as safe as possible while still ensuring great communication couldnt be better. Once one realizes that their pet will not suffer going inside alone while you wait in the car, the procedure is smooth as silkI have just read ALL of the other reviews and I was quite rattled by some of them, especially the lady whose beloved dog died in her arms after dental surgery. I just want to say that my opinion has gone down a notch when I saw the automatic canned response to those who lost their beloved pets and complained. At the very least, every single response deserves to be individualized to each clients situation. Frankly, if I were looking for a vet, I doubt I would try Windcrest because from reading all the reviews, from terrible to glowing, it definitely makes it difficult to understand such extreme contrasts.

First I’d like to say the staff is very friendly and has done a great job with my pets. I’m writing this review for other pet owners to be aware of some misleading prices. I took my dog to this location to be treated for worms. After his assessment I was notified he was due for some vaccinations and asked if I wanted to get them done. I asked for the prices and was told $33 and $42 respectively. I decided to proceed and was told I’d have to come back to get him a booster. After my second appointment I had a $145 vet bill. I asked for the breakdown only to be told I’d have to pay an additional $33, $42, and $69 “wellness fee”. All together I paid $183 for two vaccines plus a second $69 wellness fee. None of this was explained to me and I felt extremely mislead. To make matters worse I was called on the second visit to ask if I wanted ANOTHER vaccine. I had asked how much it was and once again was quoted “$33”. Not once was mentioned an additional $33 for a “booster” plus another $69 visit fee. I declined the vaccine and luckily I did now finding out about all these extra fees. My issue is not with the policy ( that I’m now aware of) but with the way this whole thing was handled. I’m not sure if this is how they bring in additional money or they truly expect clients to know about the extra fees. After spending $1000 on my two dogs in two weeks with this vet, this charge is the one that has made my decision to switch vets despite the great service my dogs receive.

We took our Great Dane to Windcrest in the middle of the night for rapid heart beating and a terrible cough. After she spent 3 hours there we were told she had gas in her abdomen and we were billed $949. She continued to cough the following day, wouldnt eat and started dropping weight rapidly. We eventually decided to take her to VRC in Malvern, PA and they were able to very quickly diagnose her with dilated cardiomyopathy and severe heart failure. She was given a very grim prognosis and spent 24 hours in their care, as we were told she was in very bad shape when we got her there. My reason for posting this review is share how Windcrest not only failed us, but failed our dog. Their negligence and misdiagnosed could of killed her. It makes me sick to think she was suffering all that time after taking her to Windcrest, because we were told she simply had gas. My husband has since called them and asked to speak with the practice director and the doctor who treated our dog. When he first called, he was told the practice director was unavailable and she would pass the message along. After a week went by and no returned call, he called back and was told by the receptionist there was a note in the system and shes not sure why we hadnt received a call back yet. We finally received a call back the next day from someone other than the practice director. Days later my husband received a call from Dr Dawkins, who treated our dog. When my husband would ask him questions on his treatment and diagnosis, Dr. Dawkins repeated the arrogant response of, I treated based on the information I had at that time. He said this about 20 times during their conversation. He just refused to admit he missed it. The information that he had at that time was that our dog was having rapid heart beating and a cough. Two tell-tale signs of dilated cardiomyopathy. Not to mentioned, it tends to be a common illness in great danes. On the night we took her there, I did a simple goggle search of her symptoms and DCM is one of the first things that came up. I was relieved when we were told it was gas because we trusted the doctor. I now know, that was a mistake. I will NEVER take a pet to this practice again and highly recommended taking your beloved pets somewhere else where you arent charged an ridiculous amount of money for them doing absolutely nothing.I think its worth mentioning, we took our dog, Myla, to their ER in August for being lethargic and not acting herself and she died after being there for an hour in half. Due to Covid, we were not allowed in with her, but I cant help but wonder what they did during that time and am disgusted that we were unable to be with her in her final moments.

My dog was ill and I took him to my regular vet over the course of 3 days. He had many, many tests done but continued to be ill despite being assured that there was no concern. This vet recommended an abdominal ultrasound to “make us feel better”. We scheduled this at Windcrest. Sadly we ended up at the emergency hospital in Newark the night before the test and had to put our dog down. It may have been prevented had he gotten proper care from the other facility. The Newark hospital called Cheyanne at Windcrest to inform them of our dogs passing and cancelled the appointment. We never thought that we would ever hear from Windcrest, we had no reason to, but to my incredible surprise we received a condolence card in the mail signed by many members of the staff. I was so touched as we had never even gone there. What did we get from our vet of 15 years? Absolutely nothing. On top of this, a few months later I received an ornament in the mail from Cheyanne for me to decorate and hang on the memorial Christmas tree in the lobby. You cannot imagine how touched I was, I NEVER expected anything like this. It was very healing to participate in this ceremony. Since then I have been a customer of Windcrest and bring my dog there with confidence that he is not just “a number” but a patient that they care about. I have read some of the other reviews about price. In my opinion the prices here are comparable in every way to any other place. But more importantly, can you let that dictate who gives your beloved member of the family quality medical care? This is a very long review but if you are looking for loving, quality care for your pet and not just concerned with where you are getting the best deal this is the place.

Two days went by and our bird started losing all his energy and would not eat or drink anything. We woke up and he was close to dying so we brought him again to the ER. They told us we could spend $800-$1000 on treatment but he died within 10 minutes of us getting there. They still charged us $114 just for bringing him there. They are money-hungry unprofessionals who do not know how to care for exotic pets even though they claim to be the best. He passed away and we still have not received the results of the test. Every aspect of the visit went smoothly and the communication with staff and the Vet was superb. Thank you for doing a great job helping us care for Mac, B, and Twizz. Finally, I noticed a complaint by another reviewer that at every visit she is told her dog needs expensive dental cleaning that seems to imply the dental work is needless. I can’t speak to her dog but I can say this - During my first visit to Windcrest when Mac (the lab)?was 14 weeks the little TV screen in the Windcrest waiting area played a segment that stated that by 3 years old most dogs have some form or periodontal issues due to lack of regular brushing by their owners. I brush both dogs teeth at least 3 times a week and in 5 years no one at Windcrest has suggested any dental cleanings. Brushing works. Thanks Windcrest. Without that time in the waiting area I would never have become the diligent pet tooth brusher I am today.

(No stars but that’s not a option)Not a good place to go if you care about the health of your pet. All they care about is money. The staff pressured me in to getting a test for my bunny, saying he needed it and basically its what a good pet owner would do. I spent a good amount of money on my pet and I was told I would received results within 48-72 hours, by multiple people, which is the only reason I got the test, my bunny was badly sick and they ( multiple people) said it would come back in about 2 days. Later, I found out the people who told me the time frame didnt even know what they were talking about or were not educated to give the information they gave. This was on the Feb. 12th... Even when he passed away on the Feb. 16th, I still did not have test results and still no one called me or checked up on my bunny. Despite me calling 2 days after the initial appointment for test results and stating that he wasnt doing well. It was not until February 25 that I finally received a call with the results.... almost 2 weeks later. I was also informed they could not refund the amount of the test because it was already ran. Even tho my bunny had past away, they lied about the time frame and I didn’t get results till about 2 weeks later.

I write this review as I wait for an in home vet to arrive to euthanize my faithful dog of 11 years. Both at Wincrest and at their Hockessin location, EVERY visit will conclude with a diagnosis that your pet needs a $1,000 dental procedure in addition to treating the illness/injury that was the reason for your visit. My friends, co-workers and family who have used these locations have all had the same experience and you will, too.My dogs teeth were cleaned once, and afterwards, he was in a lot of discomfort and crying for days following the procedure. From that point on, whenever surgery was needed, my dogs went to Veterinary Specialty Center. These hospitals have some competent doctors, who can diagnose effectively, so I dont discourage using them for simple routine care.Jumping to my current situation. My dog had been showing signs of discomfort and was losing his appetite over a 1-2 week period. The morning of July 4th, he refused to eat altogether so I brought him to Wincrests 24 hour care. The attending doctor couldnt find anything wrong other than dental issues that he said were causing pain and preventing my dog from eating. He recommended having a dental cleaning and teeth extracted asap. Two days later on Monday morning, the procedure was performed. Afterwards, my dogs deterioration quickened, refusing food and having more and more difficulties walking and standing as the days progressed.I dont regret the $1,100 spent on the emergency visit that produced the wrong diagnosis, nor the $1,500 spent on the dental procedure. But I sorely regret putting my dog through major surgery and putting him through the associated trauma and discomfort. For surgery that should never have been performed. He was placed under anesthesia for 4 hours and had 18 teeth extracted. I will carry the guilt of knowing I allowed his final days to be worse than they should have been with blood pooling out of his mouth for two days and knowing I contributed to a quicker demise than he would have experienced without so much blood loss and trauma from surgery. The care at the hospital during the covid crisis is terrible. You are requested to wait in your car until a tech collects your dog. After your dog has been examined, you receive a phone call with the diagnosis. You are forbidden from accompanying your dog into the hospital to serve as his advocate, to ensure the doctor performs an adequate examination and to interact with the doctor during the examination to raise questions and provide additional detail on your dogs health that may come to mind as the visit unfolds. Instead, those details are relayed through a tech to the doctor prior to the examination.Im sure it is a convenience for the doctor not to have anyone looking over their shoulder and asking questions about their pets care, but it is terrible service. Social distancing is important, but when the tech picks up your dog, you are already within a few feet - masks are used by everyone involved, which I wholeheartedly agree with. You accompany your dog to the door, and are then forced to say goodbye. Theres no reason why you couldnt accompany your pet to the exam room, where you would stay on one side of the room wearing a mask, while the doctor remains on the other side. Or you could watch from the doorway if need be.7/13/2020 updated following response. If you have opened a case for this, I will provide some more details. I paid for a complete blood work on July 4th, and again paid to have the blood work repeated on the 6th so that we would know if it was safe to proceed with surgery. I was told the blood work all looked good ahead of surgery. After the fact, I learned the blood work showed my dog was anemic going into the surgery. Afterwards, because of so much blood loss during surgery, the blood count was repeated elsewhere two days later, which should a count of 22, which was severely anemic. My dog deserved better than this. He died in my arms before my in-house vet could arrive to euthanize him.

Took my Aussie there on a Saturday Morning for emergency appointment for a severe tongue laceration and suspected ACL tear. We were in and out in less than 2 hours. They were very understanding of my dogs stranger danger and also my financial restraints due to Covid-19. The Vet, Karen Brockman spent a solid 20 minutes explaining the conditions, medications, and potential treatments, as well as potential costs of those treatments. I did not feel pressured at any time, but I did feel educated. It’s always scary trusting a vet and hospital you don’t know in an emergency situation to not take advantage of you, and I felt blessed after choosing Windcrest and my dog receiving the care and attention of Dr. Brockman. Absolutely fantastic doctors and techs. Unfortunately I had to put my 3 month old puppy down due to a sickness that had a extremely low chance of survival. But through all that the doctors and tech were understanding and gave me as much time as I needed with my dog before I had to let them take him. They were very helpful with information and also very understanding of me having to say goodbye. I received a hand writing letter a few days after that meant a lot as well. Ive used Windcrest over the past 20 years or so for three cats, and I adopted my current cat from them about 10 years ago. Yes, WIndcrest is more expensive than others, but the high quality of care makes it worth it to me. Ive never had to wait long; I was early for my appointment last week and they saw me right away. I appreciate them giving me options and taking the time to explain them, as well as the convenience of having food, toys, pill pockets, etc. right there if I need them. Last night I witnessed a cat being ran over. I was in the middle of working a shift and no one else even thought to help the cat. So I grabbed the cat and just wanted to get it to a hospital. It was late and this place was the closet place to me. As I arrived the tech came out to tell me that the dr was in surgery. You would think a animal hospital would at least care a little to look at the cat. I told them I had to get back to work and the cat was going to die. Another nurse came out and told me the same thing without even looking at the cat. How can you pride yourself on saving animals when you don’t even look at the cat. I was horrified and I had to work so I left the cat there. At least he was in an animal hospital. Even if they wanted me to take him some where else they could have at least looked at the cat or something. It’s ridiculous that businesses claim to have a mission to help yet a hurt animal is right there and you do nothing. Unbelievable. I only pray that the animal was saved. Protocol should be to at least act like you care.Conceding the reply: Glad to know that you let a poor little kitten die over money wow your a great company.... based off of your other reviews I can see that your only in it for money not to save animals....PEOPLE NEVER BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE

I took my dog there to the ER because she stumbled down the steps and was limping. They told me she had fleas and expressed her anal glands. They never looked at her foot. The next night the foot was bleeding. They wouldnt recheck her without another ER visit. They said it was probably itchy and to give her Benadryl. I took her to another vet the next morning. She had a twisted foot/ankle, bruised tail and a nail that was cracked into the quick. I can get over to wasted money I spent there. What I cant get over is the fact that their either inability or unwillingness to do their job left my dog in pain for 3 days. I advise anyone needing veterinary care to go elsewhere. And their automated response to the review telling me as my pets provider they cant publicly talk about it but to call customer service is insulting.

Our poor baby bunny Max became ill on 4-22-19. We took our sweet boy to Windcrest around 1030pm that night. The staff brought us back immediately and began caring for him. We knew he was very sick but wanted to do what we could to stop his suffering. Stephanie, part of the ICU staff, is was so kind and compassionate. She cared for Max like he was her own. Dr. Dawkins was also very understanding and compassionate. He explained, in detail, what could be wrong with Max. He was very forthcoming and let us know the truth about Max’s condition. We sadly had to let our boy cross the rainbow bridge but he was handled with dignity and care. They allowed us to spend time with him and say goodbye. It was so incredibly hard to let him go but Stephanie and Dr. Dawkins made this awful experience much easier with their kindness and understanding. This was an incredible experience from the time I entered to the time I left. Dr. Revay and the technician Phoebe were warm and caring. Dr. Revay came in with packets of information about proper care for bearded dragons. She reviewed each aspect of my husbandry, carefully looked over my pet, and answered all of my questions. My bearded dragon, Cheezit, was put on an IV drip for about a half hour and then returned to me. During the wait for his medications they provided me with a heating pad and blankets for Cheezit. When Phoebe returned with the medications she went over how to administer each one and allowing me to administer the first round under her supervision. Yes, I was there for about 2 hours, but this was reassuring to me. I knew they weren’t rushing to get my pet in and out. They made sure he was safe to get home, all his needs were met, and every single one of my questions were answered. I highly recommend Dr. Revay. I won’t trust anyone other than her with my beardie’s care! The vet on the other hand did not seem to know what she was doing. Our African Gray is very nervous so I took her out of the room while the bench was seeing our military. The vet told my husband that he needed his lower big shave down some thinking that she knew what she was doing my husband said OK. She overheated the bird to the point his feet were on fire his lower back was brushing blood from her cutting it extremely too short. She said oh don’t worry about it he’s not going to bleed out. Birds do not have much blood 🩸 to begin with. Three minutes later the bird was still gushing blood it was now all over the hall all over my husband in the exam room. She took the bird back in the back came back with him with clotting stuff on his big to get him to stop bleeding and she said oops that’s my fault I’ve never done that before so I guess I won’t charge you for it.She only clipped three little and I’m talking little pieces off of my African grays wings and charged me $27.55 they were also charged $41.60 to trim my militaries wings and nails and his nails were never cut. Our total bill $285.00 She was running 1/2 hour behind and never said she was sorry. When we was rapping up the visit she was told her next appointment was there she never said it was nice to meet you or thank you for coming in or when to bring them back in!Our military is having a hard time with eating and all he wants to do is sleep. I have a bunny who I took here. Its an amazing building and the staff I dealt with were very nice. But to even have my rabbit seen was $72.00. Which is outrageous. Then I find out my rabbit needs to have his teeth filed. (Commen in rabbits) and the doctor I saw said it was a simple procedure and went through it with me. Then the nurse came in after he left to give me the prices. They want over $1400.00 to file my rabbits teeth. A $150 dollar procedure else where. I loved the vet who helped. But that price is outrageous and makes me question their motives.

She fear peed herself because, duh, shes a baby and shes sick. She stepped in the fear pee and then stepped on him so I added a star because that instant karma was really satisfying.

She was seen right away, and they did a thorough check on her to make sure it was safe to send her home. In one of the scariest moments, everyone did a great job in comforting us and Kiki and giving her any medication she needed. I have had multiple experiences at this veterinary clinic. While the staff, vet techs, and veterinarians have always been pleasant and professional, the ridiculous over charging of services and the long times in the office make coming to this office not worth it at all. I have a cat that is being treated for the same minor health issue for the past 2 months. At my last follow up visit, I paid for an expensive office visit and multiple medications to treat symptoms but none to help with my cats illness because it was too close to having been on his antibiotic, which could have been triaged on the phone. Not to mention that I have paid three different prices for urinalysis. Each one even more expensive then the last. Im sure that in response to this I will be given the typical tag line of we appreciate your concerns...please call the client relations manager. . Perhaps they wouldnt need a full time client services manager if the practice started working on consistent care that doesnt leave a person sitting in a room waiting for a quote for an hour and a half. A quote, not even care for my cat. My cat is still sick by the way, and I am now looking for a vet who will finally help my pet get better, not looking for ways to upcharge me for unnecessary care.

Probably the best way to give this review is to just tell my story. Several days ago, and very late in the evening, our cat experienced what appeared to be a seizure, lost the use of her rear legs, and her breathing became shallow. I googled and learned that basically the only game in town was Windcrest, so I called and they said come in immediately.I ran just about every red light between Bellefonte and Lancaster Pike, and arrived at 1:30 AM. Windcrest immediately did blood work and x rays and determined my cat had internal bleeding from a tumor on her spleen. I was told that even with surgery the probability of her surviving anesthesia and surgery was at best 40%. We decided to go for it, and Dr. Kern at Windcrest had a blood donor cat on the way for a transfusion at 3:00 AM.Dr. Kern was empathetic and didnt minimize the dire nature of this situation. She could not have handled this better. It was also her immediate and decisive action that kept my cat alive and strong enough for surgery. She moved with a sense of urgency that you rarely see except when a life is in danger, and her quick diagnosis and immediate action in fact did save a life. The surgery took place the next morning, and my cat survived the surgery. Best of all and at least for now, the tumor appears to have not spread, and after a recovery period she should be back to normal. She was already eating the same day after the operation.Dr. Snijders performed the surgery, and the result speaks for itself. Prior to the surgery, he told us how long it should take, what to expect, and that he would speak with us as soon as it was concluded. He followed through with all of that, kept us in the loop, and fulfilled every commitment.Prior to surgery he didnt minimize the danger and didnt give us false hope. At the same time he had a high degree of confidence, and left us feeling my cat was in good hands. In the case of both Dr. Kern and Dr. Snijders, their empathetic bedside manner is exceeded only by their skill as Doctors and surgeons. There is one thing that is certain. If not for this hospital my cat would be dead. And when you cut to the chase thats the only thing that matters. This is a state of the art facility that runs 24/7 staffed by people that are passionate about saving your pet. At that precise time of day, and given the situation I faced, without these folks I would have lost my cat before her time.My cat was released forty-eight hours after her surgery. Dr. Rodriguez handled the discharge, and he did that with the same amount of care and professionalism that seems to be the standard in this hospital. My cat is now home and recovering. She gets better every day and she is a different cat and well along the road to a full recovery. Almost every day Ive called Windcrest with concerns and questions, and each and every time my calls are answered knowledgeably and professionally. They are there 24/7 for us and I am profoundly grateful.Theres another group of folks here that are heroes in my book. Those would be the technicians that took such good care of my cat. I encountered so many of them that I cant remember all the names. They too were there for us every step and inch of the way, and I owe them a huge thank-you and an expression of a job well done. Its simply impossible for me to express in words how grateful I am.

Its taken me a while to write this review. We have been bringing our pets to Hockessin Animal Hospital for 25 years and continued once the hospital came under the Windcrest umbrella. The staff have always been professional and courteous at all locations and have saved more than one pet of ours over the years. Pricing for all services is generally higher than other vets but weve been aware of that and continued to choose this hospital system. And now, we had a older cat in decline for a number of months and had decided to give him a mild steroid treatment while watching for a change in his quality of life at which time we would put him down. And during our September visit, we had to do so with no time to consider having the procedure done at home as we had done for 4 other pets. On this day we were at Windcrest and once the IV was inserted into our cat, we waited an excruciating 20+ minutes for the doctor to return to administer the euthanasia drugs. Instead, when the doctor returned, we were told the key to open the cabinet where the drugs were stored was missing and we were asked whether we wanted to have someone drive to Hockessin to get the drugs or if we wanted to drive to Hockessin ourselves to take care of the procedure there. We were beside ourselves to be in this dilemma and being asked these questions. After a bit more drama, we were able say goodbye to our sweet boy at Windcrest. But the lingering feeling is that our cat should not have gone through the level of distress he had to undergo because the staff misplaced a key. A suggestion would be to ensure everything needed to perform a euthanasia procedure be ready to go before inserting an IV so that a difficult time is not made more so due to a staff mistake.

When the accident happened, I felt sure that my chinchilla was going to die. Being such a small, fragile little animal, it wouldnt take much to fatally hurt her. I was crying and screaming, and we were all in absolute uproar trying to figure out what to do. My mother looked up the nearest 24 hour vet, and Windcrest appeared. Truthfully, I was barely paying attention to where we were headed; I was the one in the backseat, frantically stroking my poor little girl so that she wouldnt fall asleep. She could barely move the right half of her body. When the accident happened, she had apparently hit her head. I didnt really see it, but I knew something was wrong immediately because she wasnt hopping away like usual, and she was letting me hold her.So we drove to Windcrest Animal Hospital, and we were there for about an hour. The doctor came in and explained that she had inflammation around her spinal cord, and that they wanted to keep her over night. When we went home, all I was thinking about was how she was most likely going to die. There really wasnt a dry eye in our house. I had to take Tylenol pm to finally get to sleep. The next day wasnt much better. My friend and I resorted to watching Maury Povitch, because it was the only thing that was outrageous and stupid enough to distract us for a few minutes. Still, every time I thought about her, my heart sank further. But then, the doctor called. She would need antibiotics for the next five days, no jumping, and everything had to be taken out her cage aside from her house, food, water, and wood chews, but she was going to be OK, and we could bring her home. It was the relief of my seventeen year old life. I am so grateful to the doctors at Windcrest, and I am so happy that we found them. I feel sure that she would have died without their care. Not only did I walk out that Monday with a healthy chinchilla, but I also walked out knowing I had found a suitable vet to go to when I move to Delaware. You see, I have a dog too, and they take care of both exotics AND regular animals. This type of vet is so hard to find. Towards the end of my 12 yo rabbits life, his body started to fail him, and I brought him in to the ER. My rabbit refused to eat, so the tech called me knowing that I make homemade treats for him. When I brought them in, the ER doc spoke with me and asked me what his diet is like. He doesnt eat hay, which I provide plenty of and in different variations. The ER doc gave me an attitude, saying shes surprised he lasted so long.During his first night stay, I received a call from the ER vet saying that they tried to insert an IV in him but he screamed and they thought he wouldnt make it through the night. On his third day, as I was about to leave from my visit, my rabbit screamed for me. I dont know what they were doing to him, but he was clearly traumatized, because I have never heard him scream in the 12 years Ive had him. I quickly discharged him against doctors orders. The tech gave me supplies for administering sub-Qs, but without a demo just a curt explanation, so I had to YouTube it upon returning home.I brought him to a new vet with all his paperwork and Xrays. Upon viewing the Xray, my new vet told me my rabbit had fractured his spine, which I had no idea about, because Windcrest was only looking for one thing. He ended up needing dental work, which cost me about $200 vs Windcrests $500-$900, and the new place gassed him prior to inserting an IV to avoid stressing him at his age.

Bella was admitted to the hospital next morning there was no change by Thursday they decided to scope her throat to dislodged the piece of chicken I said all along was in her throat!!! By Thursday night we found out that her esophagus was damaged and no longer working. Food goes down but comes back out. She would never get better!!! We had to let her go .. The other wonderful thing that Wincrest Animal Hospital did was because we were label an emergency charged us more for all procedures they did. They told us x-rays are $185 the tech came back in and said sorry wrong price were an emergency they would be $255. Not sure how much thry care about pets or just money. Anger, Frustration, Sadness and Brokenhearted I miss my little fur Baby Bella!!!

I give them 2 stars for successful surgery. My pit bull began vomiting one morning and continued throughout the day. I took him into Windcrest at the recommendation of the shelter I adopted him from. Windrest suggested X-rays ($400) and found he had a foreign object stuck in his stomach. They basically said I could wait for him to pass it, they recommended I leave him there overnight for observation at a cost of $1,600 to $2,300. Since I could not afford that, I took him home to observe him myself. He continued to throw up to try to remove the object and 12 hours later I brought him back to Windcrest not knowing what to do. There was little guidance from the vet. I arrived at midnight and explained I had been there 12 hours ago and I think he needed surgery. They said it would be $3,000 plus $900 per day for after care. And they gave me a credit application to apply for credit at 21% interest. I think this is unconscionalbe that they would charge this much money to people who are in need of urgent medical care for their pets. Had I known this place was a money mill I definitely would have taken him elsewhere. So while they fixed my dog, I actually had to request a credit limit increase and will be paying this off for YEARS. If other vets can provide this service at a reasonable cost, this place is basically taking advantage of people, and the people and their pets pay the price by either becoming buried in debt or worse, surrendering their pets? The people who own and run this place should be ashamed of themselves. They offer no payment plans and would not even admit my dog until I had paid. I warn you, do not take your pet here if you have an emergency unless you have a lot of money. Find another animal hospital with a conscience that cares about providing reasonable health care to pets.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE.WE TOOK ARE 100% HEALTHY CAT TO HAVE A DENTAL CLEANING AT WINDCREST IN CENTERVILLE, DELAWARE.. OUR CAT WAS LEFT ALONE AFTER BEING PUT UNDER ANESTHESIA AND WE WERE TOLD HE BROKE A CANINE TOOTH BECAUSE HE WAS UNATTENDED. THEY DO NOT LOOK AFTER YOUR PET AFTER DOSING IT WITH SIGNIFICANT BEHAVIOR-ALTERARING ANESTHESIA.THEN THE INCOMPETENT STAFF THOUGHT HE HAD A GROWTH WHICH WAS ACTUALLY JUST HIS TOE ON HIS PAW AND SHAVED HIS LEGS FOR NO REASON. WHAT TRAINED PROFESSIONAL DOES NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TOE AND A TUMOR?THEN THEY CHARGED ME FOR ALL OF THIS (>$700).NOW MY CAT IS MISSING A TOOTH, IN AGONIZING PAIN AND LOOKS RIDICULOUS FROM THE SHAVE. BEWARE. DO NOT GO TO THIS VET. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL AND ARE ONLY TRYING TO SELL UNNECESSARY SERVICES AND MEDICATIONS FOR PERFECTLY HEALTHY AND HAPPY PETS. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET, DO NOT TAKE IT TO WINDCREST.ALSO, WE DONT APPRECIATE AUTO-RESPONSES OF HONEST REVIEWS ON GOOGLE WHICH ARE INTENDED TO INFORM THE INNOCENT PUBLIC FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE. I SHARED BY CONCERNS ALREADY DIRECTLY WITH WINDCREST STAFF AT CHECK-OUT ONLY TO HAVE WINDCREST STAFF SHARE THAT THEY ALSO HAD PERSONALLY BAD DENTAL EXPERIENCES. ZERO EMPATHY, ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, ZERO PROFESSIONALISM. THIS VET SHOULD NOT HAVE A BUSINESS LICENSE.

Extremely knowledgeable and caring staff. Our dog was rushed here yesterday for an emergency visit due to vomiting and bloody stools. They took care of him immediately and were very kind to us. He has been diagnosed with pneumonia among other things. The dr stayed with us the entire time while we had a million questions. He was given X-rays, blood work and medication to take home. I had researched a few things at home and became upset about what I was finding so my fiancé called and he had a vet tech on the phone talking to him assuring him everything was going to be ok. After which the same vet tech then made a personal call to me to address the fact that I was upset and offered me a lot of information on the pneumonia that my dog has and was very kind and sympathetic. I wish I had gotten her name because that extra step right there instantly gets them a 5 star rating! They not only cared for my dog but for me as well. The dr also called me later to go over in detail my dogs X-rays and was extremely helpful! While they are extremely expensive, I truly feel you get top notch service and it is worth it! We will never take our pup anywhere else! Thank you Windcrest and your amazing staff! ❤️

I went to the emergency vet last night at 6:30pm with my daughters guinea pig that was having breathing issues. she was eating fine and drinking fine when I took her and I left with a dead guinea pig. while I understand that these things happen but the Dr.s Bedside manner with a child in the room was TERRIBLE!!!!!!!! there are ways to explain that what is going on can be fatal. but to just come right out and say that the animal might die is just downright wrong. then when i said something to her she got defensive. I mean she could have said she might not make it she is pretty sick and then let me explain to my daughter that this is pretty serious. so instead I left with a very distrought child and a lifeless guniea pig. Needless to say I will be looking for another small vet clinic even if it means I have to drive to PA, NJ, or MD. My daghter has begged me to not ever take another pet there especially hers.

Went there a few times, felt like I rushed in an out. told them I thought my dog had a seizure and they said 2k starting price, new vet I see middle town vet hospital said 150 to 300. blood work $250 there, new vet $30 and 20 min wait for results. 2nd was cat my dad took from me, was put on special diet which gaustones ran 500$ few month later cat sick again, tumor couldnt miss on the chest... 500$. They didnt see the tumor that was massive..500 for nothing, cat moaning in pain for 2 more days and died. when he died, they told my dad $150 to try to save him. 15 min of CPR. Another 500 dollar bill then 300$ more for cremation. should of been free after ripping my dad off for 1k. Less then 30 min with the cat, no meds, no help and him suffering. Price wise, dealing with a new vet, patient care and time... like a lot of Dr. I feel there about the money and not the care of the animal. I know there a business and Dr.s but a complete rip off. All they want is $$$ wish I would of found vet I use now b4 my old cat suffered. My new vet is 50 min drive but well worth it
