They did great work, although I got about an our down the road after a complete haul of my transmission and my fluid line burst. I called them and they provided a free tow for the car to get back to Wilmington and repaired it in about a day. On top of that I called to see if I could get an oil change done while it was there the second time and they provided that service free of charge. Very professional in dealing with customers, and great customer service and facilitation when the problem occurred. The work was done under the great 2 year warranty they provide on any service done by them. Would recommend to anyone with problems in their transmission or car to get work done here.

I was in NC on vacation when my vehicle experienced transmission issues. Cottman replaced my transmission, delivering service that was efficient and professional from start to finish.

They broke my drive shaft and zip tied it back up.Also a piece that goes on transmissions they made the hole to big and now I have to replace all of that for another $1500 will never go there again.

I am so excited to share my experience with Cottman Transmission. During servicing at 2 otherbusinesses for a noise I continued to hearfrom my car ; I was told it was from my transmission.I did a drain / fill also which was recommended by the second one and the noise continued. Feeling a little irritated by spending for no results; I asked a business that I trusted here in Wilmington to recommend a place to have my transmission diagnosed. They sent me here.I dropped it off at 8:00am and was told they would call by noon. By 10:00am I got the call that it’s not my transmission it’s a wheel bearing which the other two businesses swore it wasn’t. They needed to keep it for the schedule for the following day to have it ready by noon. It was ready by 9:30am and my car has not showed any signs of issues. I highly recommend them to be trusted 1. To tell the truth. 2. To make the repair properly 3. To be fair in cost. 4. Great customer service .HATS OFF!!!!

Saved over $7,000 by coming here. The first shop I went to wanted $8,000 to replace my transmission without driving the truck or putting it on a lift to see what was wrong. These guys were easy to work with and kept me posted on progress. Very happy customer.

Took my ram in to have transmission rebuilt. When I picked up my truck transmission was leaking fluid, my shifter is really hard to put in gear, my truck shutters when Im accelerating, and my truck keeps throwing check engine light for evap system. Had to have a smoke test done. They found a broken evap line that got broken when the transmission was removed. Took truck back and the only thing they did was fix the leaking transmission fluid. Basically told me that the rest was already like that. Had the truck 4 years and now I dont even want to drive the thing. CROOKS do not use this shop for any reason I need to contact the BBB AND WILL BE SOON. SPENT 3500.00 AND STILL GOT TRANSMISSION ISSUES !!!

Great shop, did a rebuild on my 87’ Blazer 700R4 for a great price and in 3 days essentially. They ran into other problems and were transparent in letting me know about them and making sure I was ok with the repairs. Transparent about pricing as well. These guys can take care of you

When my local shop and then the dealer couldn’t fix my transmission (yet they had no problem charging me) I was referred to Cottman. They gave me a quote over the phone and a week and a half later, after running up against a number of unusual problems the bill was as promised. They kept me informed throughout and got the job done. It’s great to have my pickup back.

I had my transmission rebuilt and they also found a bad motor mount and replaced it.I went to pick up my car on 10/04/19, before leaving I raised the hood and after looking around,I noticed a transmission line bolt not installed. I went back in and informed the service manager and he brung out the technician.So I left the car and picked it up later .A few days later the check engine motor mount light came on,so I took the vehicle back and the technician had left the vacuum line off of the engine mount that he replaced.So then a few days after that, I am changing my oil and noticed that the transmission lines are rubbing against the frame and no fasteners had been reinstalled!! I called the service manager for the 3rd time and I told him about the transmission lines rubbing against the frame. I then stated to him what would have happened if the line got a hole in it causing the fluid to run out,and the transmission burnt up from lack of fluid.He said said no the warranty would not have been honored, even though it was the technicians fault! As of today all known issues seem to have been resolved,So I personally prevented my warranty from being voided, I am sure that maybe some were not so fortunate.

Brought my car in to try to get some warranty done for transmission issues and some other stuff was going on I had pictures of the codes and told him what was going on, usually takes a while for warranty guy to get there and test the car, he was there same day (when I got back home) they called me saying there were no codes, and that they couldnt find anything wrong. People here have bad attitudes, seem like they hate being there and everyone just hates doing their job. I wouldnt recommend going to cottmans even if it was your cars last resort.

My check engine light came on and I couldnt get my inspection. Turned out to be a simple problem that only cost me $20. They could have told me anything cause I am not familiar with car engines. Glad to know I have someone working on my car I can trust. Thanks a bunch guys!! Tom Craigg

Ive always found Ron to be communicative, clear, honest, and reliable, though it may take him a while to answer because with a successful shop off course hes very busy. Any time I needed a ride when my car was under repair, they provided that ride. He gave me options about the work to be done and plenty of estimates. Ive lived here all my life, and there are lots of car repair shops in the area that you couldnt pay me to take my car to, but Cottman Transmission is one of the few I will call and I do trust. Believe me, thats saying a lot.

NEVER interacting with this place again. I’m a female and obviously I don’t know a whole lot about cars, so I brought my car here to get fixed after I made the assumption that these people would be able to check it out (also referred here by blacks tire and auto) they checked out my car... held it overnight (in a parking lot that they charged me 25$ for without mentioning) and then quoted me 530$ to have coils and spark plugs changed. I asked the guy for just a minute to call my dad to see if that was something that could be done at home, in the 10 minutes it took for me to get my dad to call them back (after rudely being told my car needed to be fixed that very second or I’d do more damage to it) to ask them not to do anything (because he could do it himself) they somehow managed to do 200$ of work to the car already and had the car taken apart. Parts were 170$ at auto zone and could have been done at home. Okay. Not worth it after they were already charging me 200$ for holding my car overnight and running a test to see what was wrong. I ended up paying 530$ for spark plugs and coils and to me told “you really shouldn’t guess at what’s wrong with your car you’re lucky we didn’t put a 3000$ transmission in there and charge you for that”

After finding out my cars transmission was going bad after hitting a pot hole I drove it to Cottman. Vehicle was drivable but made a knocking sound. Left it for 2 days while an insurance appraiser checked it out. Decided to not get the work done and wanted to drive my vehicle home. Could not even move my car 5 feet without the transmission feeling like it was about to fall out. Whoever drove my car in the 2 days it was under their supervision tore it up so bad it was not drivable anymore. Was told they only moved it in and out of their garage. Do not bring your vehicle here, unless you want to get ripped off and your vehicle even more damaged than before you tried getting the work done.

I had a transmission built from cotton transmission.It cost cost me $3,500 for that transmission. for a Nissan Rogue in less than 30 days.Also have a video showing what the transmission was doing,how the RPM going up and down in the truck.Call the own( RON) and told him what it was doing.I precisely told him what was going on,I told him that i was out of town working that the vehicle was parked now.So when i got back into town and ill taking vehicle to him,not too long ago he told me that the Warranty was gone on the Transmission.

Originally said turn around time was 3 days. My car has now been there for approximately a week and a half. I cant get in touch with anyone no matter how many times I call or leave a message. They seem accommodating until youve approved the work. I talked to Ron earlier and he said Ill call you back in 10-15 minutes and I never received a call back (and tried to call him back several times) and now theyre closed and I have no idea whats going on with my car. Absolutely terrible customer service. I wish I had given my business to someone more deserving. This was my first time using cottman and will be my last!

These guys may be decent at repairing things other than a transmission. My experience with my rebuilt transmission was less than average.After 1,006 miles on street driving the transmission lost all gears. I was told to bring it in and not worry about it even though I was 6 miles over the warranty. Was told the torque converter clutch was fried and clogged the filter which ruined the rest of the transmission. Then I heard that they wont cover the work to fix it.Recently sold that transmission and converter to someone else who had it rebuilt and found out the converter clutch was perfect. After spending $1,800 with them on that transmission and $1,600 on another car of mine and them not standing by their work 1,006 miles later, I would send you somewhere else for a quality rebuild.

The one person I dealt with wasnt friendly. Very short in explaining information like he didnt have time and didnt know how to talk to a customer. That can give the company a bad reputation. One bad person just gave a bad image to a company.

They misidentified what was wrong with my car, and of course their solution was more expensive than what actually needed to get fixed. They charged at least $50 for a break caliper when what we really needed was a $15 break hose. Also charged us for fixing an oil leak which they most certainly did not fix, or if they did, they just happened to put the bolts back exactly where they were and did not clean up down there which is the professional thing to do. Con artists just like all auto repair shops, beware.

Ron and his staff are always very professional and friendly! I have never had an issue with any of the work they have done for me and I have used them several times in the past. Unfortunately for me, they only specialize in transmissions and drive trains. I wish they could be my “go to guys” for everything!
