I took in my car because I noticed a puff of smoke coming from the engine and a burning smell. I told them I suspected a coolant leak and would need a hose replaced. They charged me $150 to run a diagnostic on the car. Later that day, Mobiletech called me and said they found no coolant leak, but there was a freon leak from the AC condenser, some loose parts, and wheel bearings that needed replacement. They recommended $2700 worth of work (the car is 20 years old). I declined the work, paid the diagnostic fee, and left. Hours later, all of the coolant leaked out of my car and I am now trying to put water in the overflow tank just so I can get it home from work and to a repair shop that actually knows what they are doing. It is one thing to recommend ridiculous and superfluous repairs - I expect to be upsold - but the failure to identify the actual problem and repair it is inexcusable. I even told them I suspected a coolant leak. The fact that I paid $150 for a comprehensive diagnostic where mobiletech failed to diagnose an obvious problem is tantamount to theft and fraud. Never use this shop.

I passed by this shop all the time on my way to work. One day, I started having issues with my car, and I didn’t want to go to the dealership, so I decided to stop by. And I’m so grateful that I did! I was helped by a service tech named Josh. Not only was he very professional, but he’s also very knowledgeable. I described to him the issues that I was having, and he was able to tell me exactly what was wrong with my car, without me making multiple trips. This shop and Josh have won my business! Went to my usual shop with an ABS repair and they couldn’t do the work so they recommended me to mobile tech. It’s one of a few shops that could help me. They not only fixed the problem but when the problem occurred again. No fault of theirs the first abs module was faulty. They got me back in right away and fixed the problem with no issues, and no charge to me. I would recommend them to anyone.

They took good care of my truck.

Took my truck in to have the A/C worked on. When I dropped the truck off I explained to the manager the the high side port was leaking and the system needed to be emptied, the high side port needed to be changed and then charged and inspected for leaks, even took the parts in to them.After 2 1/2 hours of waiting they said I had a bad a/c line and they couldnt fix it without replacing the entire line. They charged me $127 to charge the system just to watch it leak down because they didnt even change the leaking port. Didnt even give me my parts back.Went to another shop in town explained to them the exact same thing and within 1 hour the had replaced the high side port which I was told mobile tech couldnt do. They charged the system put due in it and the a/c is working great. Makes you wonder?Contacted Stephen at mobile tech and questioned him on why they couldnt do it and got the run around, not professional at all. They even sent me an email for estimates on work they said need to be done for $1900 but could fix the issue on the truck I brought it in for. Just remember always get a second opinion from another place. They didnt even offer a refund or much of an apology. Bad business ethics.

Getting tires and a rotation went well enough but I asked them to check my check engine light, not realizing that meant they’d run a $200 and some dollar diagnostic. So great surprise there. It’s easy enough to find a different car / tire shop, pick somewhere that is more upfront about their service and prices.When somebody doesn’t understand industry lingo it’s the techs job to explain clearly what something means. When I hear check the check engine light im thinking it’s like plug and go at advanced auto - no idea he’s going to take hours to comb over everything. I’m not a mechanic and I shouldn’t be expected to understand what a diagnostic is from a brief mention as I’m dropping off the car.While paying I did let my frustration show and dropped my card on the table to pay instead of handing it to the tech. He said well any chance I had of refunding that diagnostic is gone. IMO that means he knows it was a little on the wrong side to charge for it.Edit: after looking at my receipt, the diagnostic was $108, there was a $90 labor charge for installing the tires that I thought was included in the per tire price. It was included next door at Hughes brothers. Big lesson for me, pay attention more and find a car repair shop that won’t take advantage

A 45 minute tow to MobileTech was a risky one since Id never been there and it was late on a Friday evening and after hours. I was fortunate to meet someone on-site who graciously accommodated me and my vehicle. The next day, the service rep was quick to locate a replacement part and provide a quote that was very reasonable for the scope of the repair.I was more than pleased with the final product. Sure, there were some hiccups along the way, but David and his team did a superb job overall.The point I want to make is that MobileTech is the real deal; its a well run business that really understands the customer. They go above and beyond to ensure all work is of the utmost quality and that every customer is treated respectfully and goes home having had a positive and memorable experience. To me, that means everything.

I was at Mobile Tech recently for a new tire and a plug for my other tire. They quoted me less than their competitors. Josh and Wes were both very helpful and the service was quick and excellent. While rotating my tires for me, the tech found that one of my tire studs and lug nuts had been damaged. After advising me that it was still safe to drive and didnt have to be taken care of right then. I decided to get the work done on it anyways. Its always a no pressure or upsale type of shop. Which I really appreciate. I have taken both of my cars here throughout the years and that will never change. Thank you guys for being an honest repair shop. Although I feel as though the front of the shop needs someone to answer the phone, while Josh and Wes handle the rest of the shop. They have a high call volume.

A stranger recommended MobileTech to me when I was in search of a place that does a full service oil change at a decent price. After a couple oil changes, I needed more extensive service. During what should have been very routine services (transmission, brakes, fuel injection, new tires, and new battery) my drivers side door locking mechanism decided to break. Because my car was in the care of MobileTech, David and his team fixed the door lock at no charge to me. A completely random occurrence at no fault of MobileTech. I highly recommend MobileTech for fair prices and great service!

I wish I could give MobileTech more than 5 stars. We were in a serious bind after losing our rental car key on the beach and MobileTech was the ONLY place in Wilmington that could help us. Mobile techs a good place it was hard for me to find a place down here that wasnt trying to just take my money. This place when they tell you a price they mean it no surprises when you get there which I appreciate.

MobileTech is great. Been using these guys for 5 or so years now. I feel like it is an honest shop. They tell you what NEEDS to be done versus what you can wait to do. We have a Toyota and Lexus and they take care of both. They do not charge for diagnosis and their prices are great on the work they do; for instance when my timing belt was replaced in the 4runner, they were several hundred cheaper than the nearest competition and half of the Toyota dealership. I visit the new location since its closer to the house. The fellas that work there are pleasant and easy to talk to. Highly recommend.

I was in an accident that was no fault of my own when a guy ran a red light. Had my vehicle towed to MobileTech in which David and his crew took great care of me. They were very prompt in getting the damage assessed and an estimate together even before the insurance adjuster arrived. A week later my 10 year old truck was back in like new condition and feels like it drives even better than before the accident. I cannot recommend MobileTech enough for any and all of your auto repair needs!

Terrible customer service at Mobile Tech. Josh was extremely rude and condescending. He was even rude to people who called in on the phone to check on their vehicles. If I were the owner of MT and I heard the way Josh spoke to me, I would have fired him on the spot. I will never take my car back there again, and I will warn others against doing so.This is a response to Mr. Friend. This is my kids account. Anyway, I was absolutely not late to my appointment. I had a 2:00 appointment, and I was there at 1:55. I was five minutes early. I was not told when I checked in that there would be a 30 to 45 minute wait. I asked Josh at 2:40 when does he think my car would be looked at. He told me I should feel lucky about being seen at all, because they were turning people away. I should feel lucky? I had an appointment. He could have said he was sorry that they were backed up, but he didnt. I asked him what the number hanging from my car review mirror meant, and he said it meant somebody put it there. He continued to be condescending when all I wanted to know is how they went about their procedures of being seen. He also walked over to me and handed me my keys, and said if I was in a hurry that I could leave. I went out of the building twice. I had to call the owner of the car to tell him that it hadnt been seen yet, and what was going on. I went back in to check on the two kids that were with me, and I walked back out to call my work. That is not erratic behavior. I get it that you are taking up for your employee, but he isnt being honest.

WARNING!! TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! MY CAR WAS SERVICED AND LEFT WITH A BROKEN A/C!!I recently received service from MobileTech. My A/C was running a little low and needed to be recharged. I paid for the service and left thinking my AC would be working in the same or better condition. I was wrong.On the drive home, after being serviced, the A/C completely stopped working. After several calls, I finally got a hold of the owner. He REFUSED to fix the mistake and REFUSED to make good on his TERRIBLE SERVICE. I left there with my car BROKEN and quote, MY PROBLEM TO GET IT FIXEDI was even willing to go back if they would work with me on the service charge for a busted air compressor. They refused.Needless to say, I made the mistake of trusting MobileTech.

They say to keep business and personal separate, but what do they know? I’d been friends with Dave, owner of this establishment, for years before doing much business with him. Let me tell you I’m glad I finally did! he has ALWAYS looked out for me to the utmost on all of my vehicles, most notably an older project truck I’d been jerked around on by many others. I’d recently had to “fire” the previous mechanic, leaving Dave and crew with a Frankenstein of sorts- he jumped in without hesitation, taking the time to do things RIGHT, putting his top guys on the job, and even storing the vehicle securely when I had to travel for work (he even helped find the perfect used car for me once, on very short notice, when I was passing back through town). All in all I can’t say enough nice things about the business, the man, and the dedicated crew he’s assembled- price, service, and professionalism are the best you’ll find anywhere. I recommend this shop every chance I get. Ive trusted these guys with my vehicles for at least three years. I tried to tip a tech once and he insisted I put my money back in my pocket. He said he didnt want my money, hed rather I tell my friends. I just picked my car up this afternoon, and I was absolutely delighted that I was not charged any extra storage fees. Id taken my car in last Thursday, and because of circumstances, my car was stuck on one of their lifts until today -- nearly a week later. Every hour my car was on that lift was money out of this shops pocket. Im so happy they didnt expect me to pay for circumstances I couldnt control. This place is pretty great.

Despite having a very full service schedule that day, Stephen assured us that he would work it in at some point.As it turned out rats had climbed into the engine block, built a nest, chewed on a wiring harness, and since it was the weekend it would probably take a couple of days to get the parts in and installed (pitfalls of owning a Volkswagen). Stephen was outstanding in arranging for us a rental car, keeping in constant communication with us over the progress of the repair, and the repair was completed at a much lower cost than what we would have paid at the dealership.Thank you to the mechanics, and thank you Stephen for your level of service.

Was referred by a friend to take my 05 Tacoma to MobileTech for regular maintenance and repair so I gave them a try. First few visits for oil change and tire rotation were ok but when my valve cover gasket started leaking it was down hill from there. Dropped it off in the AM and 7 hours later got a call that it was ready so I went and picked it up, checked for oil leaks as it sat there and ran, paid and drove home. When I got home I noticed oil had puddled up on the valve cover, I soaked it up wiped it all down and that was that. Next day I drove to the hardware store was in there for 30 minutes or so and when I came out I noticed oil under the front of the truck so I popped the hood and sure enough oil was puddled up on the valve cover again. When I got home I soaked it up and got a flash light to get a better view and I saw there was white stuff around the bolt closest to the firewall. I took it back up there that afternoon to show them what I found and after the guy at the counter talked to the mechanic that did it he told me this The bolt that holds the valve cover in place was stripped, our mechanic put welding putty on the end of the bolt, in the bolt hole, and at the head of the bolt to hold it in place as a temporary fix but eventually you will need to get it fixed At this point I was speechless I wanted to know why they didnt tell me that when I picked it up, why they werent going to fix it when clearly it was their mistake they tried to hide and NOT mention. I bought the truck brand new and this was the first time the valve cover had been removed. As expected no one wanted to admit to the damage, apologize for it or fix it. I offered to pay half the repair cost to fix it and make it right and still nothing. I have had several people ask me about taking their vehicles there and after telling this story they dont as they shouldnt. This all goes back to the old saying you get what you pay for. If I could post pictures on this review of the damage I would.

Where do I begin !! Drop off my f250 for repair. Im told its the ignition is bad needs replaced. First the next day they tell me the batteries needed replacing they wouldnt charge. After I told them no magically the next day they charged to 100%. So they diagnose the problem to be bad ignition . Ok I also had them fix the oil leak from oil cooler gaskets. 2121.07 was my total. I paid it and took my truck home. Within 24hrs the same exact thing happens again. I send the truck back to the shop when they call they tell me another 2k plus . One part they tell me is 800.00 when I hang up with them I immediately google the same oem part $145 all day. They are a complete rip off. Trust me there are better places with much more fair prices. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Do yourself a favor and shop around . By the way Im a 48 year old male who has been around and knows when your being hustled

I moved to Wilmington almost two years ago and began using Mobil Tech for vehicle service. I only have positive things to say about this shop. Ive had three cars serviced by them. My first was a Honda Civic. They kept it in tip top shape for the many miles it drove each day. November of 2014, the Honda saw its last trip. The engine failed and required a replacement. I debated back and forth about whether to replace the engine or purchase a new car. Instead of Mobil Tech rushing me in to replace the engine for $3,000, they stayed on the phone and discussed with me what my best option was. Ultimately, we decided to purchase a new car based on the age of the Honda and other potential failures it might incur in the next few years. Now I bring my new Ford Focus for service. I driver my car over 100 miles a day and I trust them completely to let me know what needs to be done each time I bring it in. I know I am getting a fair price for the services needed as well. I also have a 2007 Trail Blazer that has seen better days and needs a TON of work. I have never felt pressured to complete the work needed on the car. I bring it in and have one item worked on at a time based on the priority of safety/functionality. These guys really are the best and this is coming from someone who swore up and down I would only take my car to the dealership for service prior to discovering this place. Dave and his staff are the best in the business. I have used many shops over the years, but I have finally found my forever shop. There is no job that these guys are unable to perform. Just the other day I took my car in for an oil change and Dave noticed my broken key fob and asked if I wanted a new one. I told him that for the $396 that the dealer had already quoted me that I was going to hold off. He then asked me if it was $196 would I replace it. I said yes and 15 minutes later I now have a new, working key fob. My neighbor recommended me a little over a year ago and I now look forward to going to get my car serviced now at Mobiletech. Dave told me to give him just 10% of my trust and that he would earn the other 90%. He has earned 100% of my trust in the 5 times I have been there and could not be happier.

Great friendly service by expert people. No pressure and knew what they were talking about. Took vehicle in for a alternator replacement and issues that could have spelled disaster were discovered by Tech doing its diagnostics efficiently. Work was completed in a timely manner allowing me to stay on schedule and prices were very reasonable. Will return to have more work done as its needed. Drove all the way from NC to OH and back after work was completed and no issues arose with the vehicle.

I took my wifes 2014 Nissan Pathfinder to get the radiator fan replaced and they did a perfect job at a fair price. Capital Nissan quoted me almost 3 times more than MobileTech for the same repair. It pays to go here and get it done right the first time!

I was looking for an alternative after getting a very large estimate from Acura and found all of the great reviews about Mobile Tech. For a dealer alternative, the shop was laid back. They looked over what I was quoted at the dealer, looked over the car and advised what was needed now and what could wait. Mobile Techs quote was considerably less than the dealer so I decided to have everything done. My car was finished ahead of schedule and actually cost less than I was quoted.

I cant say enough about these guys! I spent 2 years without cruise control on my 2005 Toyota Tacoma. The dealership had never been able to determine the cause and gave up trying. Recently I had an issue with vibration in the steering wheel that showed up after having my tires rotated at the dealership. I brought it back to the dealership to get it fixed. Left there, went down the road and the vibration was even worse. I had heard about Mobile Tech from a AAA tow truck driver so I went over to them. Thank God I did. They figured out pretty quickly that the problem with the cruise control was in the instrument cluster. Fixed that. They determined that the left front brake caliper was seized and that was causing part of the vibration along with a bent rim. They found a rim in another state, replaced that, and replaced both front calipers. My truck is running beautifully now. No vibrations and I have my cruise control back! I couldnt be happier, and the cost of all this was extremely reasonable. Skip the dealership and go here. Youll be glad you did.Cynthia Howe

Mobile Tech are trustworthy and honest mechanics. We have been to them many times for various cars and they are always the utmost professionals. They stand behind their work and go above and beyond to be accomodating and helpful. My daughter was recently told she needed a $500+ repair at a tire facility and she brought it into Mobile Tech who let her know it was just a loose bolt and didnt need a replacement of the part! I recommend Mobile Tech for any repairs you need, they have always been priced the best and I wouldnt go anywhere else because I trust this shop 100%!

Went in with an overheating truck. They charged me a diagnostic fee ($25 I think) and told me the engine had a catastrophic failure. Estimate was over $5,000 to completely replace the engine. I had just replaced the engine 2 years prior so I was very upset. Drove 1 block away to OSC Auto on Princess st. They told me it was the water pump. Charged me $180 and the truck has been running like new for over 6 months. Either they are crooks or the technician was completely incompetent. I wouldnt go into Mobile Tech if they were the only mechanics in Wilmington.

Good Review:Took my 01 Dodge Ram 1500 here due to referral.Gave Technician List of things i needed/wanted completed.Took a look at everything same day and gave a call with Estimates for work.Mobile Tech was able to Replace my U-Joints, Transmission Flush, A/C fixed, Hoses replaced, Thermostat replaced, Removed vinyl from within my gauges, among other small things.Pricing is Fair: Overall Good, Labor varies a lot. Cheaper than Dealership, more expensive than the Backyard mechanic you may know.But you get Better Quality Work than the Cheaper alternative.

MobileTech Wilmington was recommended to me by a number of folks and car clubs for work on my 05 4Runner. Never having used them before I trusted them with the major job of replacing my A/C evaporator core. This job entailed gutting the entire forward cabin to the firewall, one of the most dreaded and labor intensive jobs on a modern vehicle, where a mistake is not an option. Needing the truck back on a tight time frame for work, they completed the job as they promised, hours ahead of time. I have to note that they were 40%+ less than the local dealer (stealer) was going to happily rape me for. Outstanding shop, they earned all future work that I cant handle myself. Highly recommend !

My worst experience. Quoted $507. & End up paying $1,100. Condenser was new & they changed it to get more money. I waited 3/4 of the day to try to find out the status. No calls as promised by the mechanic Josh. Totally dishonest mechanic shop. I dont recommend this service.

The only honest Repair shop here in Wilmington that i have came across. I drove my car in for check in, thought I heard a squeaky sound, they reassured me everything was alright. Quotes here are fair, compared to Atlantic or other small mechanics around. I have recommended this place to everyone else around me since!

We were looking for a different option other than the dealer for my husbands 2015 Silverado. I came across a Facebook post about this company and I gave them a call. When working with the dealer I had been put off for this issue for 3 days. But, Stephen at MobileTech was able to get us in the next day and saved us a couple hundred to boot! It was the best customer service I have seen in some time! Thank you for going above and beyond!If you are looking for a honest, straight forward shop, this is the place for you! I will certainly be bringing all of my vehicles there from now on!

Proceed with caution. Customer Service is headed down the tubes. Prices are over and above other mechanics, and while the Supervisor/Lead man (Josh) proves he can read, he does not consider alternatives means to repair, does not listen, is rude, and proves not to be trusted.. He will agreed when a viable solutuon is presented as an alternative, says he will price out and get back to you, but not to be believed. Its 2 weeks now and not a word.Mobile Tech may have once been a place I took my truck for work, but no longer true. Proceed with caution and always get a second opinion.Was there in Aug, 2017 and back Sept, 2017 with same problem just worse. Very disappointed.
