I called upon this service back in June, we had a technician come out and check our failing system. I was surprised when the technician only diagnosed the control panel as going bad and did not check the compressor. Even after the service, I noted to the technician that the system seemed to be putting out only slightly cool air (not cold air). The technician said that it was fine and that the house would eventually cool down (and after 48 hours it did).The system has been limping along for the past few months and a separate diagnosis has confirmed that the compressor has now completely failed. I suspect, based on the noise the system was making and the lack of cooling the system was exhibiting back in June, that this issue (a failing compressor) could have been diagnosed then and repaired under the original manufacturer’s warranty.Now we are without heat in the middle of the winter and must replace the entire system at our own expense. I cannot, in good faith, recommend this service. I feel like a proper diagnosis of the compressor (which was not checked in June) would have found this issue and saved us a lot of money, time, and discomfort.

The sales rep, heating and air installers, folks on the phone all of them were great and easy to work with. They came when they said they would be here and did the work. They made sure I knew about the system they were installing and asked if I had any questions before they left. RJS scheduled the six month service and cane out and did it on time. They are very professional

Our 10 year old heat pump system was starting to act up at a point where temperatures were in the high 90s.Called on a Friday morning and were prepared to pay for an after hours service call. However, technician was able to get to us during normal work hours and quickly determined that the capacitor was failing. He had the necessary replacement part in the truck and was able to make the necessary repair in short order.We appreciate RJS’ responsive and efficient handling of this issue.

When our 5 year old Carrier AC recently stopped working, RJS came and temporarily got us up and running, within 24 hrs, while waiting for replacement parts. They also sent photographs and lobbied with Carrier to provide warranty support. A week later Carrier supported RJS assessment and replaced the entire outside AC unit with a new unit -- no charge to us. Were delighted Carrier chose to do so, but none of this would have happened without RJS work on our behalf. We have dealt with other providers in town and not found anyone even close to these guys.

RJS Heating and Cooling has proven their reliability and professionalism to me each and every time I have interacted with them. They installed my Carrier heat pump and a/c unit in 2017 and have been very thorough and loyal with following up with their preventative maintenance program, which doesn’t cost that much. I am particular about who I hire, because I went to air conditioning and refrigeration school in the Navy and worked with industrial systems for 20 years prior to changing my career to psychology. I was immediately impressed with the technicians at RJS and continue to be impressed each time they visit my home. Today, Carlyle serviced my unit and it’s clear that he is a bright and talented technician who loves heating and cooling. He was very confident and efficient, while showcasing a demeanor that is very pleasant and easy going while taking his work seriously. I like that Rhonda Rheuter and her partner are careful to hire the best, most talented, and personable technicians in the area. It’s so nice to have people working on my unit who are clearly honest good people with sophisticated minds. Carlyle was a pure delight to have in my home, and it’s clear that his intellect far surpasses that of many of the people I have encountered in my past career, which tells me he will not miss anything that is wrong with my unit. I can tell how prepared these technicians are by the way they have their work vans and trucks organized to prevent unnecessary trips to the shop, and by the attention to detail that they pay to my unit while leaving their work area spotless. I changed my phone number and did not hear them at my door this morning, but they followed through with my service visit despite having phones down from the recent hurricane and the person I emailed being out of town. They called me and arranged to come back to my house the very same day despite the heat and aftermath of the storm. The people I worked with at RJS were all extremely professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. I had complete confidence that they were doing a good job. After the work was completed, one minor little issue came up. I called and someone came out the same day, made a slight adjustment and problem solved. My system is working great during these hot, high humidity days we have been having lately.

They have always been great. This last time my AC quit working totally. The tech knew it was a capacitor and it was. We had a lot of heat and apparently it had been a common problem. Can’t imagine calling anyone else, they are fantastic, every time...

RJS has been our heating and air conditioning service provider for over 10 years. We have a yearly service agreement with RJS and they have been so helpful in keeping our two units(one is 17 years old) running efficiently. If a problem does develop, they respond immediately. They are friendly, efficient and top notch.

After major problems with my HVAC system that my old service company was no longer able to correct, I switched to RJS Heating and Air based on my neighbors recommendation. My problems have been corrected and now I am running as one of the most efficient vs worst on my HVAC energy consumption per my electric company. If youre looking for someone to help you out with any heating and air questions or problems you may have, RJS is the best place to go. I called them to set up a twice annual checkup/maintenance plan. Not only did they give me a discount as a new customer, they were able to fit me into the schedule 2 days after I called. The technician came out and was very pleasant, professional, and most importantly, knowledgeable about the questions he was asked. He did a full workup and checked everything, including specific items we had asked about. In the end, they answered all our questions, addressed all our concerns and we were good to go. I strongly recommend using RJS for all your heating and air needs. You will NOT be disappointed.

My system was installed last Sept. it was installed professionally, the installers were knowledgeable and able to explain the system. The phone app is great for adjusting the system when you are not home.I would highly recommend RJS.

UPDATE: I have found another company in town that would break the price down for me...the reality is your customer only wants to know what theyre buying. If I go buy a car or anything else of significant value, it says what Im paying for each part very clearly.....If I go to a mechanic, they tell me what Im paying for.Yes, I called in, you gave me an estimate and you were very clear, We will not break down our estimate between labor and parts. We only sell package deals.RJS: What are you afraid of? Are you so overcharging for labor that you dont want anyone to know?____________________________________ORIGINAL POST:These guys are playing 3 card monty. I called and told them exactly what I needed. I asked for a quote split between labor and parts and was told they would not give me that. Essentially, the unit quoted can be bought for roughly 40% of what theyre charging for the full install. So, on an $8,300 installation, the unit is about $3,700, meaning they want $4,300 for a half a day of work.Unless they tell you what youre really paying for, DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!

I have been dealing RJS since 2004 on my various rental properties in Wilmington, and maintain Maintenance contracts on each property.Whenever a problem arises they return my calls quickly & repond to the problem ASAP whether its big or small issue.Their service technicians are personable, knowledgeable & call me when the job is completed.Their sense of urgency and quality of work is what is most important to me when an urgent problem arises on a property.

Called this company yesterday to repair my Kenmore heating unit. I was told by a rep when I called that they dont repair Kenmore but that she would speak to her supervisor to see if there was anyone who might know what to do to fix my issue. About 25 minutes later I received a call stating that someone would be to my home within the hour. 2 gentlemen showed up one by the name Eric I dont remember the other ones name. Anyway they spent 2 hours here screwing up my unit and after racking up a bill of over $300, told me what I needed after all was a new breaker! It took those 2 bozos 2 hours to figure that out?!! Sears showed up today and after looking at my unit, informed me that it had been wired all wrong! The tech also informed me that I needed a new breaker and it only took him 5 minutes to figure that out. So what was RJs Heating and Air doing for 2 hours??? RUNNING UP MY TAB!!!! These people are either incompetent, dishonest or both...either way I will never do business with them again!!!! Next time Ill freeze and wait for Sears to do the job right than to trust these morons.

RJS Heating & Air installed the AC system at the time we built our home in Wilmington. Over the years we have renewed the yearly maintenance contract. RJS comes out 4 times a year to check our system and to make sure it is operating at peak efficiency. The few times that something else was required their technicians got the system back on track. It is very quiet and keeps my house heated and cooled evenly throughout the year. RJS insures that it continues to work smoothly by checking my equipment twice a year.Just recently RJS installed a vent for my new stove. They did a seamless installation. It works fantastic! Now when we cook all the smoke and odors go outside and my house has no more lingering smells of what was cooked for dinner. Very Satisfied with the Professionalism and Work.I noticed our outside condenser coil, compressor, unit had frost built up, which seemed to be there too long. It did melt, but I thought it would be prudent to have someone inspect the the defrost cycle, just in case.Glad I did, as Adam, who was very professional and definitely knew his trade, checked over the entire unit. Adam found a couple of wires that had been corroding in the inside unit and replaced them.Adam, then inspected the outside unit, where he immediately saw that the sensor was actually broken in half. He also noted pitting on the contacts of the Contactor relay, and replaced both.This was enough to gain my trust, but Adam went a big step forward.I use to have a friend take care of our Central Air condition, but his political views started to get in the way of his professionalism as an Air Conditioner repair person. He kept referring to me in political terms and I noticed he overlooked important information.One thing in particular, our thermostat stopped switching automatically from heat to cool and back. He said he replaced it with a unit that was not able to Switch and a unit that would do that would cost $500, which is ridiculous. On the last phone call, when he immediately referred to me in political terms again, I decided, it was more than just friendly jesting and that I would try someone else. That someone was RJS.Here is where Adam jumped leaps and bounds beyond my friend. I asked Adam if he had a unit that could automatically switch back and forth and he said he did. The price was $165. I told him to go ahead and replace mine.Instead of doing that, Adam said, you do not need it because your unit does it. He then proceeded to set the unit setup and Auto started to appear on the settings.This is the kind of professionalism, that builds trust and loyalty, not to mention repeat business.Kudos to Adam and RJS.
