Hairdresser was nice & she did a good job for the most part. She styled it after the cut and I liked it. Looked really good. So I didnt notice until the next day that the right side was shorter then the left side. Couldnt get left side to look right

If you’re going to call with an out of state area code to ask questions, don’t bother. I have a 508 area code and tried calling to ask the price of a men’s cut. First time, they picked up and hung up all in the same second. So baffled and thinking it was a mistake, I called back just to be greeted with “can I help you? You know you called the salon” with a very rude attitude. So I asked my question, she answers and then immediately hangs up on me, not waiting to see if I wanted to book an appointment. Rude from the get go just because of an area code. I’d HATE to see how you treat out of state customers in your salon. Glad I didn’t make an appointment and hopefully others can avoid the nasty attitudes as well

Awful experience. My son went in here today to get his hair cut. Provided the lady with a picture of what he wanted (fairly simple). This women butchered his hair. Had I been the one that took him instead of his dad, I wouldn’t have paid. His hair is uneven in the front, the hair on the right side of his head is longer than on the left, it was not faded up correctly at all, it was not cut up to his cowlicks correctly and there are sections of his hair where chunks where literally just hacked out looking very choppy where you can tell she was trying to fade it but had no idea on how to do it, part of his neck hair was cut and yet there are still long pieces of hair there, she did not trim around his ears properly. I now have to pay to have this fixed.

It them over a half an hour to get to me. Even when I had an appointment and had signed in at the desk. I think they may have been under staffed, but they were friendly and helpful.

I had my hair cut today at Smartstyle hair salon inside the Walmart. This was my second time there. I booked my appointment through online and got it immediately. It was awesome experience and love my hair style. Thanks to Linda guldner, Stylist. She is really superb 👌. I strongly recommend her.

The haircut I got was great, and the stylist was awesome. $15 wasnt too expensive either. Want to come here again!!

So after I got the haircut it lookedl good my hair was wet though so I couldnt really tell if it was even or not so I left thinking you know they know what theyre doing and itd be a nice haircut and I got home and I straightened my hair and it looks like they grabbed a ponytail and chopped it off and left it like that very blunt edges at the bottom and the left side is shorter than the right side not on purpose and theres hair strands that are longer than it should be and it looks so choppy my 3-year-old could have done better job Im so mad because this is my hair and it looks so bad. only giving a 2 because she was nice but she was pregnant and I could tell she just wanted to leave

My 17 year old daughter went in for a haircut today. While getting her haircut she had to listen to the manager belittle other clients after they left. One comment was “ they shouldn’t wait until the last minute to come in for a haircut “. My daughter told the woman that she wanted some layers. While seeing the finished product my daughter said one side looked uneven. The woman attempted to fix it but did not succeed. My daughter came home and there are several strands of hair longer than others and her “layers” are awful!! One side doesn’t even look layered at all. I called the store to tell them I was going to stop payment on the credit card and they said they don’t do that. I told the polite person that I would come in and speak to the manager and was then informed that it was the Manager who gave my daughter the god-awful haircut!! I now get to go spend more money somewhere else (if we can get in before Christmas) to attempt to have this monstrosity “fixed”..... thank you Walmart, you have lost another customer and I doubt you even care.

Helen is amazing! Ive always had a hard time being happy with a stylist because I expect more since I went to cosmetology school myself. She does an awesome job and makes me feel like Im talking to a friend.

Belinda Baptist is so amazing she did her thing with my hair so professional honest and clean just love her im coming every time. Also the prices are very reasonable.

I checked the website for hours and it said they closed at 7 pm on Saturdays. I called at 5:30 and no one answered the phones twice, i assumed she was in the middle of a haircut. I was in the area and showed up to the salon doors at 5:50. The gates were closed and the lights were on. I double checked the hours on the sign and they also reflected 7:00 as the closing time. Finally after a couple minutes an older women turns off the lights and walks out, i asked her why she was closed when it says 7 on website and sign. She then proceeded to be rude and say well we close at 6:00. I said ok well then it would be nice if the website and sign were then changed as i just had to find a parking spot in the busy walmart parking lot, tote 3 kids into the store to then find out they were closed. Maybe if she would have answered the phone the TWO times that i called i would have been informed about the hours changing. Update your website, sign and maybe add some store hours on your phone service.

I was honestly scared to try this place but the gal who cut my hair did a fabulous job. She was quick and efficient. I will definitely go back.

Helen is the nicest lady I ever met, turns out she is the salon Manager. She cut my hair perfect. Just the way I wanted. I will always return to SmartStyle for my hair care needs. Who knew a salon in Walmart was the best place to get your hair done!

Today I just went there to try new salon and my experience is horrible. One old lady was there. When I reach there I thought another lady will cut my hair. But she did in less than 5 mins. She didnt use water or hair dryer. She just cut ends thats it. I never recommend anyone there. Waste of money only.

Waited 20 min and it’s 15 min before 7. Said no time for today while it was posted “will back at 7”

Helen did my hair and she was extremely nice and helpful. She stayed an hour after close to finish up my hair last minute and she ombre my hair when no one else at any other salon in Des Moines would. She did an amazing job. Love it!
