As a business that launched at the height of the pandemic, they have figured out how to survive and attract customers in a difficult market, which speaks to the quality and culture of the shop. They are polite and professional, and they take great pride in the craft of cutting and styling hair. They will take suggestions and offer ideas equally well. Very very clean shop. The barbers are friendly, respectful and patient. Always well presented, clean etc and staff always wear masks. Make you feel good when you walk into a barber shop that is spotless and all the staff themselves look ready to go too. Family owned. There is always good convo and laugh each time I am there. As for the cut, I couldn’t be happier. I was looking for a barber about 4 months ago and they were newly opened as of last year and had good reviews. I always see Shea but all the barbers are great. I go every 2 weeks and the fade is clean, even and spot on each time. As long as they are there, I will be there customer now. Also they have early morning hours as well before work. Give them a try.

My first time at a barbershop, and what a great experience! This place was recommended by Studio 27. Its always a bit risky going to any new shop (especially as Id never gotten a cut by a barber before and not many are skilled at female cuts), but Omar did a great job at getting the cut style that I wanted! Clean, professional, super friendly, and gave me tips on maintenance - I wouldnt expect less for 30 years of experience! Would definitely recommend! The shop is clean and well lit, and everyone who works there is very polite and friendly. Ive been there a few times and Ive ended up having conversations with barbers who were between clients. I am a bit introverted, and this is the only barber shop Ive been to where I feel comfortable enough to chat like that.Herson does a great job. Ive gotten 3 or 4 haircuts from him, and all of them looked good both immediately and as my hair grew out. Herson is very professional and, while hes happy to talk, Ive never felt judged if I wanted to sit quietly for a bit.Overall, 1st Yard is my favorite barber shop in the greater Boston area, and I would recommend it to just about anyone.

Not only do they do amazing haircuts here, they went above and beyond talking to my boys about how to care for their hair, and even gave them a tool to take home. Came here for the first time today and the experience was great. Overall great atmosphere with super early hours which made it very convenient for me to get not only a haircut and beard trim but also my dreads maintained all in one go, Omar did a great job with everything.
