I wanted a simple, professional manicure for my first day of work and I chose a swirl design and it turned out perfect! I love the atmosphere and I felt completely comfortable whereas in many salons I feel out of place. The quality is great!

Very overpriced for the quality of the end product. The gel started to come pff 5 days later and a week after I was left with only 3 unbroken nails. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with the outcome. However, I really enjoyed their process of pampering and the environment was very pleasant and inspiring. Would not recommend tbh.

I wasnt sure what the dry experience would be like because I actually enjoy soaking my nails during the mani/pedi process. However, I had a nice pedicure. The space is clean, spacious, and bright. My technician was great and also gave a nice leg/foot massage.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Varnish Lane. We went for the first time over the weekend, and everyone, from the front desk staff to the nail artists, were absolutely wonderful. It was also my three- year-old daughters first time getting a manicure and pedicure, and they were so sweet to her and gave her so much attention and care. She loved it. We will definitely be back!

VL is my favorite place to get a pedicure! The staff is so friendly and professional and they do so such a wonderful job. From start to finish, the experience is heavenly. The paraffin wax is my favorite part; my feet stay soft for weeks!

The aestheticians are professional and caring. The front staff people are always calm and helpful. It’s a beautiful, elegant space with lots of light, and it’s always super clean.

I love varnish. I take all my friends there and they love it too. The vibes are immaculate, the staff is so friendly and nice, the colors are amazing, the gel doesn’t ruin my nails and lasts more than 2 weeks.

I went to Varnish Lane to have a manicure and pedicure, and it was amazing. The technician was friendly and loved that she took her time to do an excellent job. It is not like the other places where you are rushed to get things done and two minutes later, your manicure is falling apart.I like the place, how comfortable it is and it made me feel safe with all the precautions they are taking because of Covid.

The consistency is always there, no matter who I have as a tech they always deliver consistent results. I’m never disappointed. It’s a little pricey but you get what you pay for, and that’s top quality service. They’ve done a great job with COVID protocols too that make me feel safe, such as temperature check at entrance, waiver, social distance between chairs, and no one touching the wall of polish. Will continue coming here as long as possible.

Every nail spa should be like this salon! All organic polish, no unnecessary water, and a reclining chair with foot lift (even for manis) — best part is for just $10 you can add a design of your choice. Can’t wait to go back soon!! Obsessed.

This nail spa was across the street from my hotel, the Fairmont Washington D.C. It is very chic and the surroundings are beautiful. The staff are friendly and attentive but the actual gel polish application I received yesterday was terrible. A few hours later it began to chip and lift because the polish was applied to my skin. Considering the price I paid I am very disappointed.

Absolutely loved how clean it is, and greatly appreciated the safety precautions due to COVID. Its always a great experience with the staff, as well. I know Im getting a five star experience every time I go. The ambiance is also huge for me -- I love the decor and luxury setting!

I Am NEVER Going Back TO A WATERLESS SALON!Good. Vibes. Only.This was the most delightful experience from start to finish. I was greeted and treated with the expectation of my arrival. VL is organized and you receive multiple emails and texts regarding your appointment. Once seated, I had a hot cup of chamomile tea in a monogrammed VL mug. Its quiet and there are no disruptive, blaring flat screen TVs. It literally is a West End oasis. I had a Main Lane Mani simultaneously and both Lenora and Ari were highly skilled and pleasant. My services took an hour and there are clocks placed discreetly around for efficiency and time management. Both my Mani and pedicure turned out splendidly, and Im eager to see the length of both. One of the benefits of WATERLESS services is its staying power.

So relaxing, excellent service, so clean. A great treat! Also LOVE that they are open so early on Sunday mornings. Really helps those of us with kiddos sneak away before the day gets too crazy!

Ive gone to Varnish Lane three times now and was impressed with the quality of the service until the last visit. I got a gel Main Lane manicure two days ago and three of my nails have already chipped, including one nail that chipped merely hours after my appointment. Im incredibly disappointed because I have a few holiday parties this week and wanted my nails to last/look good for those events. For the high quality and high price of your services, I expected better quality like I had received in the past. I wanted to bring awareness to this incident and am deeply disappointed because I feel like I wasted $50. I could have gotten a normal manicure done for half the price, but I wanted to spend more money to ensure it would last. I feel slightly foolish now after recommending and raving about Varnish Lane to all of my West End friends. Overall, Im very frustrated and will reconsider getting my nails done at Varnish Lane in the future.

Went back to Varnish Lane West End for the first time since the whole Covid thing. Very happy they’ve reopened! Stress free and relaxing. After having my temperature checked I was guided to the polish selections to make my choice. A staff person took the bottle to the tech so I never had to touch it (or anything else). Definitely made me feel they were taking my health and safety seriously.I had a Main Lane Pedicure, which was great. My nail technician was excellent and made me feel pampered. Next time I plan to treat myself to a Luxe Lane Pedicure to extend the experience even more!With everything being so crazy these days it’s wonderful to be able to go back to Varnish Lane and have a feeling of serenity, even if just for a little while ❤️

A waterless salon which uses high quality and natural products. My manicure lasted longer than any other salon.The hand massage was perfect. I really like the service. It looks pricey but when you look at the quality of the products and the time my manicure lasted; it is really worthy!

I recently went to Varnish Lane West End for a straightforward manicure and not only did the mani turn out beautifully, but their service team - store manager Claire and regional supervisor Ana - made my day. I had the issue of a potentially expired gift card, and they hunted down the info online and were able to solve the issue. They were courteous, kind, and friendly, and it was just what I needed. The person who did my nails was also amazing - Ive never had a gentler manicure - and at no time did I feel rushed or in the way, even though I definitely fell asleep in the chair! Their COVID practices helped me feel safe and calm in a stressful time. I appreciated the lengths they were willing to go for a customer and will definitely return.

I usually go to the Mt. Vernon location, and really enjoy the space and girls working there. I don`t have a favorite technician only because they are all equally great. Would recommend to anyone.

I LOVE how immaculately clean the service was and how chic the space is. It was quiet and bright and peaceful in there. I love your cellphone policy and saw it politely and professionally enforced which I appreciated. My tech was super efficient because I was on a time crunch but did a great job. She also gave me great advice on how to repair my damaged nails. I have already booked my next service for next week and I think I will be a regular. I wish I had time to mosey the retail area cuz it looked adorable. But as I said. I will be back!

Went in today for a luxe lane pedicure and a main lane gel manicure. The salon itself is aesthetically pleasing and I really liked the waterless concept. The technician who did my pedicure was amazing!The reason for the 2 stars is for the manicure I received. First, the tech didn’t shape my nails well - I had to double check and triple check her work because the nails were visibly crooked and the edges weren’t smooth. As a customer, this makes you feel super uncomfortable. I pointed out a few issues and she said she’d fix them but then never did. She also had a very hard time painting my nails and even knocked one of my wet fingernails and had to redo it. After sitting there for what felt like forever, I just said forget it and let her finish up. I grabbed a nail file on the way out to shape up my nails on my own.Id only come back for a pedicure and the atmosphere. If you want super pretty, perfect nails - I’d skip it.

Varnish Lane is the best nail salon in DC. For starters, their salons are always spotless, well-lit, and adorable. It’s an all-around wonderful experience, from high-quality polishes in trendy colors, to complimentary mimosas and coffee, to leather service chairs and cashless check out. I don’t bother choosing a certain technician when I go, because they are all very gentle and extremely detail-oriented. I recently visited after COVID re-opening and felt very safe- everyone wore masks, every other chair was blocked off with plexiglass separators. My regular manis always last at least a week. Such a treat and I love supporting women-owned businesses. Prices are great, too!

My husband and I recently moved to the DC area and have been searching for a great place for pedicures and Varnish Lane fits the bill! We stumbled upon this sleek salon one afternoon and decided to try it! They use natural, formaldehyde free products and their entire pedicure process is waterless! We LOVED it. Our feet feel clean and moisturized! Marjorie and TiTi did an excellent job and were very thorough. Their foot massages were also out of this world! Thank you to Titi, Marjorie, Anna and the entire staff for such a relaxing and lovely experience!

Went to DC for new years and stumbled upon this lavish, calm, and personal salon just in time to look and feel my best for the ball to drop. This was by far the best gel manicure I have ever gotten- the treatment, color choices and emphasis on nail maintenance and health really made this experience stick out. I cant wait to come back!

Varnish Lane is the best nail salon Ive tried! Im clean-conscious when it comes to the conditions of a salon for patrons and employees, and Varnish Lane has the highest standards. The setting is luxurious, like a home-away-from-home, the extras are generous (coffee, wine, tea, etc.) and the polishes are free of nasty toxins. With more locations opening in Washington, I couldnt be happier for the VL crew. A true gem with beautiful, lasting service! Well worth it.

Incredibly terrible customer service.I was 10 minutes late to an appointment and you would have thought that the world was ending. I was originally booked for a gel manicure, but due to my tardiness, they could only do a regular manicure. Sure, fine. But then they charged me for the gel manicure!When I was scolded for the 3rd time about being late, with me almost in tears, the staff was very cold to me for the entire appointment.I understand cancellation policies and I absolutely want to be respectful of people’s time, but I shouldn’t leave a nail salon practically in tears and feeling uncomfortable by the customer service.I would avoid unless you’re willing to kill your self to be there absolutely on time and pay exorbitant prices for nail services.

I love this place! My gel seriously lasts for three weeks without a chip. I also love how clean Varnish Lane is, how they are committed to using non-toxic products, and the staff is very friendly. You truly feel like youre getting pampered here. Highly recommend!

My Fiancé tried Varnish Lane West End for the first time yesterday and had a pleasant enough experience at the time of service, however the manicurist cut her twice throughout the process and left her with fairly sloppy nails - leaving paint on her skin and still somehow, not making it to the edges of her nails. The main complaint came when her right thumb nail polish completely peeled off only 24 hours after. She called to ask for a refund and even offered to send photos as proof, but was told that she would have to come in to get it fixed. We dont live very close to West End (she was there for the day with her friends) and again requested a refund to rectify the situation. She was then promptly hung up on.One other note, if you already have gel on your nails, they require booking a separate service at an additional charge ($10) to remove it. Shes never had any other salon charge extra for this.With prices as high as they charge ($44+$10), she expected a higher level of quality and service. Do not waste your time or money. Go somewhere else for your gel manicure.

I had a very relaxing experience! I loved the polish colors available, and everyone was exceptionally nice! I would return in a heartbeat and become a regular customer, but I was only in town for a long weekend and don’t live nearby. If you do live in DC, be sure to go —it’s with it.

Very nice salon. Beautiful aesthetic, very pleasant and accommodating staff, but the nail polish just does not hold up. Ive been wearing gel polish and I have nice strong nails since 2016. After removing my gel (Tertio brand) and replacing it with this one, I could tell my nails werent as strong. I was hopeful because the manicurist did a delicate job, but after one day Ive already experienced chipping and not sure what Ive been doing wrong (using lotion after I wash my hands and hydrating to prevent dryness).

Amazing nail salon, wonderful staff and incredible women behind the scenes. I love supporting female owned companies, especially when they deliver excellent results. Going here makes me feel like a superstar! Highly recommend! Now when is VL coming to NY!?

Great quality and ambiance, but self entitled reception staff with unnecessarily strict cancellation policies. DC is a busy city with demanding jobs and when I called to reschedule an appointment within 8 hours of the scheduled manicure/pedicure I was informed that when you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you are responsible for the full payment of service plus 20% gratuity.

Amazing service! I heard about Varnish Lane from many of my close friends and decided to try it out myself. The products they used were unparallel to any manicure and pedicure I’ve ever had. The polish stayed for over 3 weeks and I couldn’t be happier! So worth it!

Very professional and accommodating establishment. Recommended by a friend, I went in with my husband. Luxe manicure for me. Husband had a Luxe pedi and a man’s manicure.I like the selection of polish, I feel like I can choose without wondering what’s safe, Big plus! And I was assisted with a selection and found a perfect match. I enjoyed my pampering and watching his. Naggie (I hope I spelled her name correctly) took her time and was very attentive to my hands and nails. They feel and look great!I really enjoyed this waterless, or rather minimal water method. With the pedicure they sprayed his feet down. There’s no soaking. The whole experience seemed super hygienic. Nothing is reused unless it’s metal and those are sterilized. I would definitely come back. The experience is worth the cost in my opinion. Can’t wait for a VA location!

Worst gel manicure ever!! This was by far the most I’ve ever paid for a manicure and it was chipped after 3 days. A week and a half later, two of nails have almost no polish left. I’m incredibly disappointed..... the atmosphere is nice but what does matter if the service is not good?

I visited VLs new location with a group of girl friends, and we all were SO happy with the service and products. Nail art 10/10, and the pedicure is still flawless weekss later. I wouldnt go anywhere else in the dc area - waterless is the way to go.

Wow! Incredible pedicure. I got the Luxe Lane pedicure with Bujin. The chairs and ambiance are perfect for a Monday Lunch time pampering. I feel so relaxed. The pedicure itself is waterless..I was skeptical at first but it was so relaxing and my feet feel MORE moisturized. Never going back to the water-bath tub!Now lets talk about Bujin. Shes amazing and her attention to detail is unparalleled. I asked for my feet to be extra soft since Ive had some calluses build up. She went the extra mile to make sure my feet were in tip top shape. She also made sure there wasnt any extra paint on my skin. She was meticulous. I will be making all future appointments with her.The location is great since its 2-blocks from work. The luxurious pedicure lasted 60 minutes which includes dry time. Perfect for a lunch break.Price was $60 for regular polish. And check out was super easy since I have an account with them. I could also include a tip using my credit card which is handy since I never have cash on hand.This is my new place! Thanks Bujin :)

I wanted to love this place. Its right across the street from my office and so convenient. However, I just didnt have a good experience. The front desk staff was a bright spot. The girl was very friendly and welcoming. I went for manicures with a girlfriend. Her nail tech spent the bulk of the appt takinta about drinking, what she likes to drink, when she was going to drink next. It was pretty unprofessional. Beyond that, my tech was fairly aggressivewith my cuticles and nati shaping. My nails were actually sore for a day or so after the appt. The manicure was NOT long lasting. It started chipping after a couple of days. For the price, it should have lasted longer than that! My normal $15 nail salon does a much better job that lasts the way it should. I will not be returning to this salon.
