I walked into this salon to get 1 nail fixed. The guy at the desk asked me 1st what do I need to get done. When I told him what I needed, he stated, you need to have an appointment. Why wasn’t that the 1st question you asked me when I walked in? I told him I just needed to get 1 nail fixed and why couldn’t one of the ladies sitting in the window help me? He said because they have appointments. As I am sitting in my car they are still sitting in the same spot on their phones. I mean how long does 1 nail take? I honestly feel discriminated! This place never has business and I see why.
I booked the number 12 special, a detox twist pedicure and gel manicure for $103. I arrived on time and they were able to get me in quickly call me even though I had scheduled an appointment.I explain to the lady what I wanted and showed her a picture and she seemed annoyed. I decided to modify my request and only do one accent nail at that point. She did a good job but on my accent nail, instead of painting the base white to make the color pop, she painted it red. When she painted the blue over it, it appears more black than blue, as the picture shows and as I wanted.I was in led to the manicure station, where she explained that she had an appointment and another technician would be taking over. I showed her the picture several times so that she understood what I wanted and explained it. Immediately after she put acetone on my nails to remove the Polish, another lady came around to tell me to wear a mask call me even though I had been there for over an hour with that one and several other people had as well. Ive been spilled nail polish remover on my shoulder and my dress. My fingernails look nothing like my toenails. But she actually drew two lines on one side and three on the other until they corrected her to make them look symmetrical. When I went up front to pay, I was appalled that they tried to charge me $35 more than the price I was quoted online. He explained to me that it does not say in the pricing that a gel pedicure is part of it only a gel manicure, even after I pulled up the website. I told him that was a deceptive business practices and they should correct the website but he said that due to limited space thing and descriptions he was unable to do so. I mentioned I was more than happy to pay for the small design I got but I thought that was a little ridiculous. I ended up leaving two hours later even though my service was quoted as being 90 minutes long. I was late for an event and missed it all together.I would advise anyone reading this review to never go here!
Bella is great! Love this place. Online appointments available and punctual in keeping appointments. Nice and clean atmosphere. Worth $. Only challenge theWharf parking...either car share, go during weekday because parking is horrendous and expensive in the area. I made an appointment last Saturday and it took over an hour to park. Once I got to the nail spot they were so nice my anxiety alleviated from the parking debacle.
Called in to ask if they had availability during a Sunday afternoon since they closed by 7pm. Luckily they said yes and took me by 5 for a walk in. Staff was great. Front desk guy was helpful and the lady who did my nails was very calming. Environment was very clean and quiet enough to relax. They arent shy to ask if you need something. The gel manicure I got is still going strong after 2 weeks. Great quality.
I went in for a fill and from the beginning of the service I could tell the nail tech (older Asian lady with a bob and red highlights) didn’t know what she was doing. She seemed to have a lot of trouble holding my limp hands and blaming me for making it difficult when she’s the one who would position my hands in the first place. She had a very condescending attitude whenever I gave her directions on how I wanted MY nails by laughing at me and acting like I was dumb. She kept avoiding shaping them even though I wasn’t satisfied with the shape yet. She spent almost no time on the actual shape of my nails because she wouldn’t stop buffing them. She used about every bit for her drill to buff my nails but never moved onto anything else. She also added so much acrylic that the tips were bulbous but the rest of my nail was flat due to all the buffing. When I mentioned the shape again she told me my nails were the problem for being too “wide” when I’ve gotten an almond shape numerous times at numerous salons and never had any trouble. She angrily filed my nail so short it had started exposing my nail bed on a corner and then tried to move onto polishing when my nails were completely wonky. I told her kindly not to finish the service as I was unsatisfied and offered to give her a tip but I didn’t want to pay for the service but she argued with me to pay her $60 for my uneven, unpolished, ruined nails. I gave her $20 but I wish I hadn’t given her any money. The more I think about it the angrier I get. She was absolutely rude and unskilled. She shouldn’t be doing nails if she doesn’t know what to do. I had to go to another salon so they could fix my nails and that nail tech was so upset at the shoddy work and had to build up my nail out of nothing because it was filed down to the nail bed.
In town traveling on a boat. This place was close to the marina. Called & they made me an appointment. The staff were very friendly & professional. The young lady that did my nails was great. Place was very clean. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. There prices were about what I normally pay.
The nail bar is very clean, highly sanitized, and its conveniently located.Close by parking is available, and the building where the InStyle is located within, is very newly constructed. The employees are well trained, and like most nail technicians, there are favorites amongst the clientele.Ive only had my feet worked on, but it was really a soothing pedicure. For an old man like myself, I really enjoy the entire process.I highly recommend InStyle if youre in the area looking for a manicure or pedicure.
This place is top notch from the chic decorum to the timely and professional service. I always love the results of my manicure and pedicure. I love that it caters to men and women; I took my boyfriend here and he also loved being pampered with a pedicure!
I have tried 3 different place in the wharf neighborhood and this place is by far the best. My dip/gel manicures will make it 3-4 weeks. Manicurist 3 is my favorite, she does a great job!
Love the service and professionalism. I’m a nail biter and the staff made my nails look so beautiful for Mother’s Day. Thank you
Absolutely Terrible. I paid $88 and the paint chipped the next day.
AB was great! Clean shop and professional and friendly staff.
Great service and nails. I came down with my daughters for Mother’s Day and the service was outstanding.
I work in the area and came here for a mani/pedi a few weeks ago (first one since 2019!) and the service was fantastic. Needed a quick mani today with an eyebrow wax, and service even better! All safety precautions followed and my nails (and eyebrows) look great! I really appreciate the great customer service and attention to detail. I will be a repeat customer for sure!
Ive been looking for a good nail salon since I moved to DC and decided to try InStyle Nail Bar after getting 2 disappointing manicures at the salon right next to my apartment. Long story short, my search will continue. In the moment, the service seemed fine (not exceptional, but good enough) and they seemed to do a pretty good job with my nails. Once I got home, I realized that they didnt properly buff the clear dip powder off and the speckles are showing through the gel top coat (which doesnt last as long as the dip top coat, but thats another story for another day...) as seen in the pictures I attached. I decided to just deal with it and move on until later that evening, one of my nails chipped. If you dont already know... dip is hard to chip. But it did, so I made an appointment the next day to go back and get it fixed. Fast forward 24 hours and I show up to the salon, tell them I have an appointment at 5:45, and they proceed to tell me that I have no appointment (I showed them my confirmation email, they didnt really care) and I can come back tomorrow. Problem is Im leaving town tomorrow for Thanksgiving so thats not an option, but now no one is available to fix my nails until 7 pm. Which means either waiting around for an hour or walking 15 minutes back to my apartment, sitting around for half an hour, and walking 15 minutes back to get my nails fixed. As if I have nothing better to do with my Monday evening, the night before I leave town for a week. I have about 25 more minutes to kill before I go back and get my nails fixed, but unless some miracle happens at 7 pm, I think its safe to say I wont be going back. I guess Ill keep looking for a decent salon in southwest DC, because this one isnt worth my $100. I gave 2 stars because to be fair, the salon is very nice and clean.
Very clean and everyone has been very nice and courteous. I’ve been here several times and have always had a relaxing time, even during COVID.
I refuse to go anywhere else for my mani/pedi. Grace is very kind and skilled. She is always efficient and my nails last a very long time. She knows what she is doing and takes great care of me when I see her..the fact that remember me when I come in and are so warm and inviting keeps me coming back. The salon is clean and hygienic(which is important to me as a fellow beauty professional) and I always feel like a priority to my technician..I LOVE this place and recommend it to all of my clients, friends and family.
My go to place especially post covid. They are very keen on cleanliness and social distancing. Wide selection of colors. My mani and pedi last pretty long. They also use a new set of files for each customer. Highly recommend.
My favourite nail salon.
The staffs doesnt speak good English, and sometimes can be rude.
Excellent technicians. They wear mask. Also, have installed shields. It is very clean.
Andy did my nails tonight, and he was so meticulous and focused on making sure I left with perfect nails! They turned out beautifully! I would definitely recommend him to anyone. My only warming is for those with arthritis, as he was pretty intense on the buffing towards the end, but Im sure he would adjust if he was told. He was very professional. I will be going back!
The young lady did a great job!
Terrible customer service, I walked in for a nail repair and was denied service and told that they closed at 7. I arrived prior to 7 pm. When I tried to ask what time to come on another day, I was ignored by another worker and was instead told to sign in on the clipboard for tomorrow by a woman at the front desk :/
I was instantly greeted so kindly when I walked in by Pam who offered me my choice of beverage. She assured me a tech would see me as soon as possible. The full set service was pleasant and I enjoyed my experience overall. Will be coming back again!
Went there for a regular mani-pediBeen served by grace, i loved my experience Grace was clean and delicateDefinitely coming back again
This place is perfect, especially Andy is so great! I got matte gel manicure and you cannot see the brush marks which is actually super hard to do. Will be going there regularly
Didnt offer me a refreshment. Bad shaping. No leg scrub or foot razor... very mediocre pedicure for 54 dollars. 2 Stars because it looks nice and seems clean.
Very nice people, but Ive had 3 gel nails peel off completely in less than 1 week. Every other time I get gel it lasts at least 2.5-3 weeks. I wont be going back and I dont recommend :(
I went last night, and in themoment, it seemed like it was good service. Waking up today, my fingers had been nicked 3 times! The gel polish is very dull and she didn’t clean up around my nails well. The nail tech did get my almond shape correct, but that’s it! I really wanted to love this place because I am close, but i’ll continue driving 30 minutes away to get my nails done correctly. Also, they don’t accept tips via card, only cash.
The worst manicure experience i’ve ever had. HEIDI is their absolute worst and most disrespectful employee. i walked in expecting great service and came out with weirdly shaped nails despite having told her not to change anything 3 TIMES and with chipped and streaky nail polish. i am so disappointed and disgusted at the service they provide. she didn’t even apologize after me explicitly telling her that she isn’t doing a good job. DONT RECOMMEND.
Lili did a great job! Highly recommend this place. They give you some bubblies while you get your nails done. Comfortable and quiet.
Well after a solid week with my nails, sadly they started to crack even though I had them cut down a little. Overall they did a wonderful job on my nails well worth the $65 price.
This place is overpriced for very mediocre quality (I’ve left with streaky nails more than once and gel manis that chip fast) and they are always trying to get a few extra dollars for ridiculous reasons. The last time I went there and the last time I go they told me they were charging 3 extra dollars for the OPI bottle (infinite shine) I chose because it is more expensive than the other type when it is less than two dollars cheaper per bottle and is good for probably 50 people’s pedicures. They are always doing things like this any often the manicures aren’t even good.
I have been here more than 5 times the past 5 months because the location is very convenient for me, and I wanted to give it a chance. But every time the mani and pedi are disappointing. The prices are high and the service is not great. Would not recommend it.
Lili took great care of me. I came in for SNS replacement, and she saw the poor quality of what I had received, and did an amazing job. I came in closer to 7:30pm. I felt bad for keeping her late, but she didnt rush. She took her time and was so kind! Will be returning (at a more reasonable time).
Had a great experience here. Highly recommend as a salon in the SW area
Great service, friendly staff, clean salon and reasonable prices!!
They always do a good job.
Very efficient, very clean and minimal chemical smell. Very happy with my manicure.
Very nice in professional, angie is the one, who takes care of me !!
Poor customer service. They didn’t have staff to do a pink gel fill-in. Extremely unprofessional and not equipped with the proper resources to do nails. Buyer caution.
Anna did a great job on my manicure/pedicure.
Don’t bother with making an appointment, they do not honor the time slot and treat you as a walk-in. After waiting 15 minutes they told me it would be another 20 minutes until they would get to me. That is unacceptable.
Every since they switched ownership the customer service and the actual service has declined! Extremely unorganized with their schedule appointments, you are either waiting to long because under staffed or you are feeling rushed out the door, and if you are resident at the Wharf be sure to bring your card otherwise you won’t get your discount. So sad, used to be exited to have a nail salon in the Wharf with “family” style attitude instead its “who next just to make a buck”. HORRIBLE! Lost me as a customer!
The guy who did my powder nail job did a quick and uneven job, he blamed the color mix and charged me $50 (after taking off $5) I’ve had fantastic powder nail jobs elsewhere.
Disappointed with quality of my full set
