I was impressed with this dental office. The office and location itself is clean. The staff members are intelligent, kind, and patient. Each process was explained thoroughly by the technicians and dentist. The technology here is advanced and painless (yay!). I could not recommend DC Dental Spa higher! If you have dental anxiety, if its been a long time since your last visit, this is an excellent place. Dr. Rex and his team are compassionate and truly tailor your experience to your needs.

This place intentionally misleads costumers about insurance coverage. Dont trust what they say in their website - they DONT accept the insurances listed there and they will lie to your face even when asked face to face. They also charge prices that are much higher than the usual for simple procedures. Had to learn that the hard way after a hefty $850 bill that they refused to adjust after being informed that my insurance would only cover a fraction of it.

Dr. Rex Hoang was great. I loved the office and all the procedures they had in place for COVID control and they got me in the very next day BUT they provide misleading information for insurance coverage. I was informed by the front office that my insurance (CIGNA PPO) was accepted before my emergency appointment and it also says on their website with big font and logos We Accept These Insurances. To the average patient that means We Are In-Network I ended up having to pay almost $300 more than I was expecting to pay for a procedure that only required a recement. They need to update communications and be up front about insurance and be clear what the word accept means. I would have gone elsewhere if I was informed properly. Ive never had this issue with any other dental office. I feel I was taken advantage of.

This place is a total sham. They will do anything and everything to get money out of you. I will NOT be going back here. They will say we offer excellent service and our prices reflect that -- do not believe them. There is NOTHING special about what they offer. Just dont go here!

I went from having a LOT of pain and anxiety to having zero pain after visiting Dr. Hoang and his team. Dr. Hoang laid out all the care options for me and let me craft my own plan for care. He did not just jump to the most expensive or invasive solution like I have had dentists do in the past. He and his team recommended several steps I could take on my own to improve my situation and they are working for me! I came in as a new patient, but was treated like a long time patient. Dr. Hoang and his team care, and they deliver the highest level of flexibility and service for their patients.

I visited this office regularly when I worked in the neighborhood up until about 3 years ago. Since then the two new dentists I have seen have had to redo cavity fillings that were poorly done at DC Dental Spa as was evident on x rays. I have had a total of six fillings redone with new dentists of the eight I had filled there. I don’t know why I am surprised since Dr Huang himself had to also redo fillings that were poorly filled by one of his very own staff members who he had fired after she worked on my teeth. I am still paying hundreds of dollars to repair the damage that happened to my teeth at DC Dental Spa. I feel others should be warned.

This was my first experience at DC Dental Spa, and it was a very positive experience. Here are some notes:1 - The examination / x-ray process was very modern and educational. The result of each x-ray was immediately displayed on a monitor before me.2 - Dr. Rex used a small specially-designed hand-held camera to illuminate each area in order to identify any and all issues, and explain them thoroughly to me.3 - The staff was very friendly, efficient and professional.4 - I left the office knowing exactly what I need to look after and how to better take care of my teeth.I highly recommend Dr. Rex and his staff.

I have had several treatment sessions with Dr. Rex at DC Dental Spa. The customer service and quality of care I experienced was excellent. I had my condition clearly and fully described to me, treatment options and expected outcomes were explained, and all the costs were communicated in advance. Dr. Rex is absolutely amazing. Aside from being incredibly skilled you can tell he genuinely cares. I hated going to the dentist, but I had a great experience here. Hayden and Zulema were very nice and helpful up front as well. Highly recommend, Id give 6 stars if I could.

I will happily give the DC Dental Spa a five star rating. Dr. Hoang and his very professional staff truly care about their patients. The extra precautions during the COVID-19 just show how much this practice is ensuring the safety and health of all concerned.

After being a patient for almost 10 years, I went in with what I thought was a cracked tooth, and was told by Dr. Huang that nothing was wrong and that I should just ignore the pain before charging me more than $350. The next day my face swelled up so much that I couldnt open my eye fully, and subsequently a specialist confirmed that I did have a broken tooth, which had become infected and had to be removed surgically, and that the broken tooth was obvious in the x-ray Dr. Huang took the day I went in. The entire time, the staff was frustratingly inflexible, telling me I had to wait 24-48 hours in intense pain just to get a copy of my dental records and the images I had just paid for so I could get a second opinion. The specialist also showed me evidence of other mistakes or errors that had been made by the DC Dental Spa practice. I strongly encourage you to go elsewhere for your dental care.

I am torn here. First, the actual dental service is excellent. The doctor and the technicians work to perfection. It really is good quality dental care. They are caring, patient and attentive of patients, especially if you get nervous like me in complex dental procedures. Staff is friendly and respectful. However, beware of the billing practices. Ultimately, this is what led me to decide to no longer go back. It is too much time in calls, emails, arguments with billing staff and calls with insurance to cross check. This last experience was too wrong to be tolerated. Will not go into details, but basically I receive a bill inconsistent with what was previously discussed. When I questioned, I was not given direct answers about the discrepancy of several hundred dollars. I called the insurance directly to corroborate, and they confirmed the numbers. In fact, the dentists billing staff was attempting to charge several hundreds more than what I rightfully owed. I questioned this and after several emails, several itemized receipts received, some which I could not open neither from a laptop or a phone, and an hour over the phone, there still is no clear explanation regarding the several hundred dollars extra. They insisted in that I had to go over the itemized receipt with them which I refused as I had direct information from the insurance, and the attachment was not opening. Simply it was a futile attempt to convince me to accept unsound questionable billing. The trust finally broke over several years of dealing with this. Also, when the billing staff is confronted with the discrepancies, they turned into condescending approach and make it look like it is a misunderstanding on the patients end. The billing staff would not discuss the extra hundreds they tried to charged me for and deflected from that question. When I finally communicated my intent of not returning and requested reimbursement of the deposit I had already paid, the billing staff would not put it in writting, becoming upset, and only agreed to put in writing the amount of reimbursement after I insisted. Needless to say, that conversation took a turn for the worse with me, as I have no tolerance for dishonesty, and the gaslighting that came afterwards, in an attempt of making the billing staff look themselves as if they are on the right side of this issue. I was livid due to the condescending, gaslighting and dishonest approach from this person. I have been living in the area for many years, and when I was recommended to change to this provider, I was super excited because I really liked it and was fully satisfied with the doctors and technicians work, but billing staff killed it for me. As a client and patient, as someone who has worked in the health care and customer service sectors for at least a couple decades now, I should not be taken for granted, and I should not be taken advantage of just because billing thinks it can, and because I kept on going back in spite of multiple instances of this. I was always very vocal with the billing staff directly about being concerned regarding billing discrepancies. If you decide to go, you will not be disappointed with the dental service because the doctor works to perfection. I recommend to have every single thing itemized in every receipt you can get, and have billing go line by line. Save it because you will need those. Those saved me a few times. Then as soon as you can contact your insurance for a statement or a summary of what the doctors office submitted in terms of services to ensure that you are not being asked to pay more than you are fairly and rightfully responsible for. YOU WILL NEED TO STAY ON TOP OF YOUR FINANCES AND INSURANCE COVERAGE TO THE CENT here. Facts cannot be disputed, which is how I was able to catch a few issues over the years. Sadly, I ended up landing on the decision of leaving a good dentist, but I cannot keep investing so much time in insurance, billing staff, emails, calls, receipt tracking and saving every time I have to go there and do anything.

I wanted to replace my crown with a tooth that looked real and pretty but after $1800, i didnt get it. I texted that I had a concern with it not looking up to the shade I wanted with no response. It actually looks like its made of plastic. Im disappointed with no response which I may get now.

Dr. Rex Hoang is VERY good at what he does, and will work with you to create great dental outcomes regardless of your condition (and mine was/is bad!). Hes very patient and good at explaining things so you can make good decisions about your dental health.

Always a great visit. My dental health has improved. They do a better review and diagnosis of upcoming problem like replacement filings (since mine are old). The location is convenient from the metro.

This experience was horrible and a waste of time. I went there for cleaning and check up, when I arrived I specifically and in many occasions asked for an estimate because I did not want to pay anything out of pocket. The front desk assured me that my insurance would cover 100% of the cost. A month later I received an invoice for $250 after insurance for just cleaning and x-ray when all their advertising shows that services for only $75. I received misleading information and when I called to try to find a solution they treated me with the worst attitude and worst customer service I have experienced in my life. Please do not go there, avoid yourself some trouble.

The dental assistants could be more mindful of how they’re using tools during procedures. I’ve had to remind them on more than one occasion. Still awesome tho.4/24/19 Still having issues with mindfulness of the assistance but Dr. Marcus is great and thoughtful.

I love DC dental spa! I am terribly afraid of the dentist due to previous trauma from a dentist and I appreciate how caring and kind Dr. Hoang has been. I had super crooked teeth and normally dentists would tell me that Invisilign would not work but he didnt give up and four years later I have a beautiful smile! Love this office!

Review first posted on Yelp regarding my experience back in 2017.I was trying to get a routine cleaning done at DC Dental Spa, and they gave me a quote of over $250. When I brought it to their attention that my CIGNA dental insurance covers 100% in-network and 100% for out- of network, they told me the CIGNA rates are over $350 and I have to make a payment of $250. I asked them what is the use of having dental insurance if I have to pay even when it is covered 100% for basic cleaning, so they just said thats how dental insurance works and all patients complain about dental insurance.I was then offered a special offer where I pay $150 in advance for the cleaning, which I didnt accept.Few days later, I visited another practice in the area and they charged me as per CIGNA rates and I was covered 100% for the same procedure without having to pay out of my pocket.They deserve zero stars, as they are not honest about informing patients that they are not in CIGNA network.

I came in for a teeth whitening before my wedding, but I had some concerns because I had a chipped front tooth that was repaired and various other issues. The staff was extremely helpful and spent way more than my allotted time to come up with the best solution to make sure I was completely happy with the results. They ended up giving me a cleaning before and buffed out a stain that had been bothering me. They explained to me what has been causing the stains along with every step of the whitening process and what to expect. They even gave me complementary whitening gel to take home. I really felt like they cared about all my concerns instead of just trying to get me in and out as quickly as possible. I am happy to say I have a new dentist.

I dont have any complaints. Ive been going here for five years that all started with a Groupon. When I got my own insurance, I decided to stay because the staff is very friendly and they do a good job. The staff seems to constantly be changing. Perhaps students studying dentistry nearby, but Ive always felt comfortable for them to work with me. Their tips and advice are always helpful and their technology seems very advanced. They are very upfront and honest about their services and I would recommend them to everyone I know, except I dont live in DC so its hard to make that referral. I would love if they expanded into a Maryland market--MD Dental Spa! I just hope that they keep the same type of friendly staff.

RED FLAGS EVERYWHERE. I saw him with the option of replacing or repairing a damaged veneer. I chose to repair and his repair broke after 2 days.So I asked about a replacement, but told him I would only take it if he could bill it against my insurance, which would be effective in 2 days. Instead of telling me to come back in two days, he said they could bill me at the end of my multi-part procedure, so it would be covered under my dental insurance. He then sent in an assistant for a signature. When I asked the assistant about payment, she said the full cost of $2,000 would be due today.After raising the price of replacement by $500, he then refused to refund the cost of the repair that was obviously defective workmanship. He said that he does not guarantee his workmanship.This Dentist does not warranty his own work even when clearly defective, which means he doesnt trust himself to perform quality work. The Dentists price gouges established patients, which means he doesnt care about his patients. The dentists will tell you what you need to hear to get you to commit, and will walk back his own promises. The dentist is friendly and a smooth talker, but you cant trust his word and you cant trust his work. If youre sitting in the lobby reading this, do yourself a favor and walk out.

I called their emergency line to make an appointment for my throbbing tooth pain. When they text me, they told me they didnt take Medicaid which I get most places dont. They tried to then push me into paying out of pocket after I explained that I dont have the money too, instead of trying to help me by making payment plans, they dismissed me. If youre running a company, youre in it to try and help people and not make them feel useless.

If I could give an extra star, I would.Ive had some really bad and painful experiences at the dentist so I typically dread any visits. My first visit to DC Dental Spa was for a routine cleaning. My hygienist, Bebe was the most gentle and polite hygienist I have ever had. Ive never had such a painless and quick cleaning before. I was amazed at how thorough her cleaning was while being so light with her hands. After the cleaning, Bebe answered all my questions without seeming judgmental.Dr. Hoang introduced himself and did a complete examination of my mouth. He noticed a small forming cavity and suggested we watch and wait. Ive had terrible experiences getting cavities filled as a kid and I was never told there was a watch and wait option. He explained that there is a chance small cavities can reverse themselves and gave me tips to promote the healing process.I left feeling really relieved that the visit wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. I was REALLY appreciative of Dr. Hoang not pushing an immediate follow up appointment for the filling because Id rather wait to see if the cavity gets bigger before having the work done. Overall, my experience was a 10. Now I dont have a fear of scheduling a cleaning every 6 months... only if its with DC Dental Spa! :) My saviors!

I was really anxious to go to the dentist. On my first visit I didnt even feel the shot and before I knew, it was over. Very nice staff that work with your schedule to set appointments.

The stuff are very friendly and the Doc have good experience but they asking an necessary thing that you dont need it and they try to set another appointment that can do in the same day. The deep cleaning they try to do half one day and half another day thats stupid and their price are way expensive.

This experience was horrible and a waste of time. I have serious pain due to my wisdom tooth Face is swollen. Now this can cause infection my insurance has no co pay or anything. Mind you I called prior to coming of course and my appt was at 12 they waited 30 mins to tell me that I have to pay 130 just for them too look at it then to pull will be additional. The chick at the front desk short n fat her attitude almost got her ass snatched up. She had an attitude why I have no clue she isn’t the one in pain with a swollen face. I’ll never recommend anyone go here unless you have 100s of dollars to blow and like a woman with a nasty attitude greeting you.

I have been going to DC Dental Spa for almost 2 years now for cleanings and an emergency root canal re treatment. While I dont have positive things to say about EVERY experience Ive had here, I must say that Dr. Mena is a gem and I specifically request him each time. He is very gentle, caring, and skillful. He has been incredibly patient and kind to me despite me having several tearful encounters in his office (not because of DC dental spa, but because of an infected tooth!). My dental problems have been somewhat ongoing and they have been incredibly helpful on several occasions. Ask for dr. Mena!

The dentist has great bedside mannors but the overall experience was horrible due to the condescending business manager that doesnt have blood flowing through her veins and severe price gauging by over recommending unnecessaru procedures. I originally went in to have a tooth extracted or crownes. $2200 out of pocket after Cigna insurance and i still have the tooth and problems with the tooth. Later two other dentist reviewed my xrays and said they would have never suggested a root canal because it was too deep and the procedure would not take....and they were right. Both were amazed that a root canal was recommended by any dentist with experience. My other issue was the lack of compassion and the money money money focus of the business manager. While in the dentist seat after needles in the gum and not happy, the business manger comes in to review cost, and arrogantly sells the importance and value of saving a molar and how money shouldnt be an issue to save a tooth. I just wanted her out of my face! Probably a wonderful person and bill collector but definitely not the conversation you want to have when your in pain. I would never in a million years go there or recommend them. Do not lot the SPA word fool you. This is anything but a spa....maybe SPAM!BLAIR MOODY

I was a crying mess when I finally showed up at DC Dental Spa, but the whole team was completely professional from the beginning. The hygienist was quick, the patient coordinator was kind and engaging, and Dr. Hoang himself was meticulous and energetic. I was in tremendous pain from a tooth infection and was long overdue for a root canal treatment. The team examined me, gave me pain killers, and explained the recommended treatment course (and its associated costs) all while being kind, efficient, and non-judgmental. Both the hygienist and Dr. Hoang listened to me when I shared my past traumatic experience with a dentist, and I felt validated and listened to that they took the time to listen as well as make notes in my file. I ended up getting the first part of the root canal therapy performed that day, and the team easily transitioned from my examine to the procedure with rapidity. Not that anyone looks forward to root canal therapy, but Im glad my oral health is in the more-than-capable hands of Dr. Hoang and his team.Update 6/26/17: I just saw on my cost estimate worksheet that Dr. Hoang did not charge me for gas sedation at my previously described visit! I continue to feel cared for and listened to by this office and, although Im not able to use my DMO insurance here, am still relieved that I found this practice.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hoangs for over 12 yrs now. I have watched his older children grow up as they are young adults now. I get the pleasure of seeing his younger daughters grow now. Dr.Hoang is definitely amongst the best of the best dentist when it comes to professionalism and bedside manner. He is a very patient and understanding dentist who knows his profession. He cares and he works with dentistry students with empathy. He doesnt fool around when it comes to his patients. Also, he hires some of the best associates! Dr. Mena is a wonderful talent as well. He is funny and he makes you feel comfortable. The front desk staff is also special! Laleh is patient and always ready to explain to you charges associated with your insurance plan and denistry work. I am very much apart of the DC Dental Spa family!!!! I respect them very much and they me!! Thank you Dr. Hoang and DC Dental Spa!!

I use to have such a BIG FEAR of the dentist, until I found this place. It still took me a while due to other bad experiences, but between the front staff and Dr Mena Ghobryal, Im starting to relax.. Dr Mena is soooooo patient with me and always makes sure that I am relax and my pain( if there is any) is not making me uncomfortable, and will stop to make sure its taking care of before proceeding ...it has gotten to the point where I dont even feel the needle when he starts to numb me.. One day I was so relax.. I started to drift off to sleep...how about that... a spa for your mouth....lol.... I LOVE DC DENTAL SPA
