I got a haircut from Curtis and he misheard my style, which ended in him cutting my hair into a style that I did not request. I told him I comb my hair to the side and then to the back and he had only heard the first part. While this might have been an honest mistake, he sounded unapologetic and smacked his lips when he found out. His whole vibe was to rush through the cut and it clearly showed that he was not listening. Did not offer any compensations. Id say if you want to go to B&C Hair Style then try someone other than Curtis.

Ive been using Rut for about 8 years now, aroud 23 times a year. Yes, 200+ haircuts and shes worth every dollar. Basically, shes wonderful; attentive, punctual, clean, listens to/gives advice, and Im better for it. Shes also human and will always politely correct a mistake if she makes one.She also lets me correct the occasional person who requested a millimeter of hair cut off and is astonished it amounts to nothing, (Ive been in the seat next to them many times) 🙄, some peoples kids.Everyone else is good too, they all have their niche, just take time to find your person.

The barbers are competent, polite, quick, and to the point. My only critique is that their tipping system is a bit odd; you have to tip via Venmo instead of adding a tip directly to the bill. Despite the oddity, I look forward to employing their services again.

I was asked to leave my barber chair and wait an additional fifteen minutes after I had made an appointment, because the barber that was initially to cut my hair was requested by another appointment, even after stating my name to confirm my appointment.I should not have been sat until this was confirmed. Walk-ins were seated before me due to this mistake. I was shuffled to another barber who did a sub-par job on my hair. This was the only barbershop I had patronized since moving to DC, but I will not be returning.

Chris absolutely butchered my hair. I asked him to cut a quarter inch on the top and he literally chopped a full inch, can’t follow directions, rude, and not asking questions. He clearly wants to finish quickly, this was the worst haircut I’ve ever gotten since he can’t learn to listen to directions. Would give 0 stars if I could. Also never offered water or anything, stayed silent throughout the whole haircut, should find a different profession, absolutely unacceptable.

This place seemed great until the bill arrived. I was served at once and requested a beard trim. As the hairdresser appeared about to finish, I asked her if she could also shave the back of my neck. She said shed go around my hairline to clean it up. She did a meticulous job, It looked excellent, and I was preparing to leave her a corresponding tip. When we got to the till, however, she charged me for a haircut, apparently on the ground of the touch-up work.It would have been reasonable to charge a bit extra for going around the hairline, and I would otherwise have added a tip. Consequently after one protest on my part, which she rebuffed, I simply paid the $23. It was a good beard trim. But if you go here, Id advise agreeing in advance on what youre paying for.

Hair on the left side of my head is half an inch longer than the hair on the right side of my head. That should give a clue about the quality of the haircut here. Gosh. I need to go to a real barber to get this fixed now. Also, can’t tip using credit cards? You pay the fee (+$1 processing fee), and then you tip cash. What year is this, 1999?

I gave this place three tries up to now, but Ive decided I wont be going any longer after the last one. My first haircut was good and the person giving me the haircut was very friendly. I didnt like my second haircut, from a different person, although perhaps the haircut didnt have anything objectively wrong with it. It definitely was a bit too rushed. The third haircut I got was from yet another person, and it was bad. There is a visible, non-subtle difference in length of certain chunks of hair compared to others. Unfortunately I didnt notice at the time how bad the haircut was (my hair is curly and it can hide inhomogeneities quite well). An example of what I mean: when I straighten out two chunks of hair right next to each other on the top of my head, one is about an inch longer than the other. This goes beyond liking or not liking a haircut or certain details about it. It just shouldnt happen when you pay someone to cut your hair.

Probably the best barbershop in the Adams Morgan and DuPont area from my experience. The quality of the stylists varies but the renal level is good and if you find the right person the quality can be excellent and only ~$27 (including tip). They also do a hot towel and can style hair too if desired. Gets crowded after 5:00 and towards closing time so be prepared. Bonus is that (unlike many barbers who only take cash) you can pay with Venmo. They also charge extra for using a credit card and don’t accept tip on your card!

I’ve been going here for two years. Good price and good haircut. Their credit/debit card machine works 50% of the time which means if you aren’t carrying $30 in cash on you there is a good chance you’ll wait in line for nothing. In the end this has proven to not be worth the hassle.

No fuss, low-key, good hair cut, delightful barber (Loan!). Id seen the warm towel mentioned several times, which struck me as odd, yet despite that it caught me off guard and despite the simplicity of it -- or perhaps because of it? -- its totally worth mentioning. Great barbershop for the price. The service is almost always lightning fast, its unusual to have to even sit down to wait. All the stylists are courteous and professional, and while they recently raised their prices, a simple mens cut is still just $22. Sometimes they go a little shorter than I asked for, and it usually takes a week or so to grow into a new cut, but for $22 its a great value.

There are a bunch of different hairstylists at this salon and I’m sure one of them is decent. Unfortunately, the majority are awful. Even on a quiet day my haircut was rushed and my instructions were neglected. I’ve gotten my haircut here 3 times because they are local and polite, but each cut was worse and worse. Even when I offered a picture and very explicit instructions, I ended up with the worse haircut of my life. Avoid at all costs. Cut your own hair if that’s what it comes down to.

Been looking for a place since I moved here this summer, hearing from everyone how terrible haircuts in DC tend to be. I was looking for a nice fade on the sides with w bit taken off on the top. Brought a few pictures as well. Rut was amazing-- she cut my hair exactly as I described, even cutting it a bit shorter after i changed my mind halfway through. She made great conversation and was very cool to hang out with. I will definitely be coming back to this little shop. Thanks B&C!

Hair cuts are not bad. Affordable. However, the staff has no clue as to who is there/which barbers work which days. Very annoying when I go out of my way to see a specific barber and they arent at the shop. This has happened multiple times. I also asked for a shave but got a $11 beard trim instead. I thought this was the very least i could do for B&C Hair Style. I found this place online at the beginning of this past summer, and for $20 a haircut, i figured why not try it? it is a fraction of the cost of the more fancy barber shops around D.C. About 8 months and maybe 6 haircuts later from B&C I can say confidently that I will NEVER go anywhere else to get my hair cut. Their attention to detail is incredible, they do exactly what you ask of them, and the hot eucalyptus towl to finish it off is amazing.I will say that knowing what you want makes all the difference to getting a good hair cut - tell them what you want and they will do it. For years my haircuts were hit or miss because i wouldnt be specific enough with the barber about what i wanted and let them decide. Once i learned what i like, it was very easy to get a good haircut - and for 20$ and incredibly friendly and dedicated service, B&C is my forever go to now in Washington D.C.
