I want to use Mr Ray because of good results when he cut my hair at Carroll Manor Rehabitaltion center. I have tried three times to get a hair cut but failed. The first time, the shop was closed because Mr Ray had a personal emergency. The second time, I live in NW and the shop is in SE or about 30 minutes drive. The route is difficult to follow and parking nearby is also difficult. I was running 15 minutes late and I called Mr Ray. He said that he was fully booked and I would need to reschedule. This third time, was my rescheduled appointment on March 12 at 10am. I missed a turn and could not park so I arrived at 10:15am. The stop was vacant and dark and nobody answered the phone. I am deeply perplexed that I have tried but could not achieve my goal—to have Mr Ray cut my hair. I have not had a hair cut since leaving Carroll Manor and as you can expect my hair and beard are almost wild. I hope Mr Ray reads this post and finds the time to contact me—Edward Darden

First thing I want to mention is the uniform for employees. Shows that this place means business and they’re professional. I was greeted by my now new barber Tybee. He immediately greeted me and asked how he could help. We all know that moment when you move and you need a new place to call “home” but he made the transition smoother than usual and for that I thank him. I travel THREE HOURS to have Nephie braid my hair. Knotless braids... second to NONE!!! They are always pleasant, friendly and personable. They make me feel at home and like I’ve been coming for years. Since December I’ve been back 3 times. These guys really do know how to run a barbershop. I would like to be able to give the shop more than 5 stars but 5 stars will have to suffice. I have been going to My 3 Sons for a few years now and the most important thing to know is that they know how to handle hair, male, female, from the youngest child to the most seasoned senior, natural styles, whatever, they are prepared, polite and professional. The atmosphere of the shop is welcoming of all, people leave looking good and with smiles on their faces. The staff is generous and gives back to the community. Everyone who works there clearly takes pride in their work and their workplace. My barber is Ty and I have to give him a special shout out even though I know you get in trouble when you start to name names.

My 3 Sons is a great place to get a haircut. The staff are very friendly and respectful and they have great conversation. Im not from the DC area so Im not use to paying $25 for a haircut but when in Rome! But all in all they give great haircuts so no biggie.

I received an excellent hair-cut from a highly trained professional. The atmosphere is cordial, friendly, and relaxed. The space is clean and sophisticated. The price is very inexpensive considering the tremendous talent that the staff, particularly, Mr.Ray, have. As a white guy with straight stringy hair who goes long periods between hair-cuts, they had no qualms with dealing with the mess on my head. Moreover, they have excellent beard-trims which is a skill rarely found in other parts of the District. If you can get tho this place, this should be the only barber youll need for you and your whole family.

HIGHLY SKILLED...EXTREMELY PROFESSIONALI recently transitioned to natural hair and I needed a shape-up for my neck and edges. Im a woman with thin curly hair, but for the past few times Ive gone to a barber shop, Ive walked out disappointed with my hair cut. Youd be surprised at how many barbers dont know how to cut hair. It has taken some barbers 30 minutes or more to cut my hair and they still didnt cut it the way I asked...and had the nerve to charge me $20+.Mr Ray, the owner, was able to cut my hair exactly how I wanted in less than 10 minutes and only charged me $10. He was polite, personable and professional while doing it.Will definitely be going back.

I’m weary about going to maintenance places in the hood but this is a great shop. I seen their reviews online and decided to give them a try because of their “family vibes” reviews. It’s not a lie they have oldies playing and young guys working there so there’s still a sense of relatablity. I didn’t have to wait long, my son is 2, it was his first hair cut and Tybee took good care of him. He was knowledgeable on what was appropriate and best for his age and has a really chill vibe. He made sure my son was as comfortable as possible. He didn’t cry and actually fell asleep. I was so pleased with the experience not to mention the place is so clean and well put together. The interior design is very urban classy!

My barbers name was Ray and I got what was the absolute best haircut Id ever had. Until yeaterday. After some years of being separated from Ray, mostly due to my laziness, I went back to his family run shop and received again the greatest cut ever. I love this place. I come for the braids and the cuts. I keep my sides shaved (all three Barbers are amazing) Nepherteria always hooks up my middle. She does it all...braids, cornrows, crotchets, whatever!!!! She is very gentle on the scalp (and those edges). Very affordable, friendly environment! My 3 Sons is a true SE gem!!!!
