I have been trying to get in contact with an agent to set up a tour and talk pricing for almost two weeks. You have to call an office and the representative sends a tour request to an agent, so you cannot set up a time on your own. Well, I have had two separate requests sent out for me and an agent has yet to reach out to me. I understand that summer is a busy time for leasing, however I feel that this failure to be prompt and responsive screams unprofessional. Every time I call, no matter which number, I am either sent to voicemail or the phone just continues ringing indefinitely. I have one agent contact, Drew MacMahon, and he does not answer his phone at all, nor does he have voicemail set up so that you can leave a message. I have visited the property in person several times to see if I can get ahold of someone to no avail. If this is how prospective renters are treated, then it can only be indicative of how renters are treated if they have leasing/maintenance issues. I have to say that I am utterly disappointed in the management thus far. Unfortunate, because I was seriously considering renting here.

I’ve lived at the Fahrenheit for over 2 years and besides the previous property manager, Ayah, it’s a great place to live. Management has changed within the last few months and the experience has been much better than before. Drew is super responsive and helpful. My apartment has nice countertops and stainless steel appliances. The building Is conveniently located near Public transportation, restaurants and bars, grocery stores, a public library, and more. All in walking distance.

Great Community! Friendly staff, the roof top is my favorite attribute of the building and it is very accommodating to my commuter lifestyle the metro is only minutes away and the grocery store is right around the corner! Moving to the city for the first time was seamless!

This building is very cool, love the concept and the design! The rooftop is pretty awesome especially during the 4th of July! Can’t wait for the cider house to open up too.

Fahrenheits management company, Van Metre, is absolutely horrible. The leasing agents are too busy driving back and forth between tours of Columbia Uptown and Fahrenheit that they cant remember what apartments are available, floor plan layouts, rent prices, or any other relevant information. We were told multiple pieces of wrong information during our tour. The property manager, Ayah, was extremely rude and unhelpful during the application process. I dont recommend renting from either apartment buildings unless you want to deal with some of the worst management in DC.

Edit: The building manager paid to censor my review, so lets preface this NEW review with that little fact. If thats what they do to current paying customers who live here then AVOID AVOID AVOID.Instead of dealing with your grievances, they will spend their time banning you contacting them, banning customers on social media (kinda illegal, unethical af), making fake positive reviews (like Angel Cardoso in state of Georgia), and having their own staffers post fake reviews too. Go look.Lets start with the staff... what staff? Once you sign they become totally non-existent and unresponsive to all communication, except with they want to screw you over to nickel-and-dime you! Like right here, for instance.Which leads me to price... They give you a decent deal at first, about a hundred bucks less a month to live in literally any other (nicer) neighborhood in DC, but after the first year is up LOOK OUT for that giant bloat. Lets not forget literally ANY OTHER BUILDING IN THE CITY, even buildings built in the 20s actually have a thing called AMENITIES. Its probably why you are looking at buildings, right? Well, there are none here! Petworth is too sketch to pay these prices for less than the nothing you get here. How about safety... FORGET IT! This neighborhood has bucked the trend in other parts of town and gotten less safe over the last few years. Thats not the buildings fault... But the fact that most of the external doors are constantly left propped open and you can regularly find homeless folks catching a nap near the mailroom is... disconcerting. Theres no staff here, even during the day, so dont expect anything to be done about it.On to noise... The walls, doors, ceilings, and floors and paper thin. You can actually hear someone hanging something from two floors above/below you! Im not being hyperbolic about this in anyway. Heres a quick test to try (should you not heed my warning): go into the farthest room in the unit youre checking out, with all the doors close have a second person call the elevator... Hear it? Of course you do, and youll hear it at 2am just as loudly too, but you get used to that. The elevator sound isnt even loud... So just imagine the auditory hell that is just waiting for you if you make this your home, if you can call a home you have to whisper in a home!

I would give the building 4 stars, and the management one star, so two seemed to be a compromise. The building: pretty good. We were on the second floor. The street was very loud, and the 7eleven gets rowdy sometimes. The inside walls are thick and we rarely heard out neighbors- that is very nice. The appliances were decent, the showers and sinks were all good. The AC and heat was self-controlled so that was very nice. The rooftop was lovely, except that the couch cushions would occasionally disappear. Oh, and the TV up there has never worked while I lived there for aa year. No wi-fi either, which is a huge bummer. This building is pretty tough to move in and out of, compared to others- no freight elevator, no way to reserve the elevator, no guard so you cant leave the doors open, and the parking in the back leads into a stairwell that is hard to navigate. The management: Very poor. The carpets were not changed out when we moved in, and the apartment had been smoked in. Ayah, the property manager said she didnt smell smoke. She was either lying, or really cant smell anything, but thats irrelevant because i smelled smoke, and as the tenant, I am the one living with it. She did finally agree to have our carpets steam cleaned, but every time I vacuumed for an entire year living there, gray dust and soot would come up from the carpets. A kitchen drawer was broken when we moved in and we requested that it be fixed. The maintenance guy said hed order it but he was going to close the request. We never got a new drawer - we didnt bug them about it because it was relatively minor, but still. Then, a neighbor who parks their van in the back of the building had a massive oil leak. Dirty motor oil all over the back parking area, which also happens to be the best entrance to the back stairwell. We put up with that for at least two months. I tried to avoid stepping in it, but it was tracking all the way up the stairs (see pictures) and into our apartment. When I would clean our floors, there were areas that were water repellent because of the oil and I couldnt get them clean. I asked Ayah to do something about the neighbor parking there if they werent going to be able to maintain their car. She said shed power wash the area, but since it was an ongoing leak, that really wasnt a solution. She offered to clean our carpets again, and we asked if we could have the floor steamed because that was where the oil was. She never got back to us after multiple attempts.Three weeks before I was to move out, my dryer broke. I had emailed Ayah a week or so before that the dryer kept running when I opened the door, so something was clearly not quite right. She said shed send maintenance, but she did not. Then, a week later, it wouldnt start at all. I contacted Ayah and put in a request for emergency maintenance. Apparently dryers dont qualify as an emergency. I had to wait a few days to have her send out an internal maintenance guy, who thought something internal was broken (I had clearly explained which piece as broke - just the door switch). It them took 14 days to get the approved vendor in to look at the dryer, and he still didnt bring the part to replace it. I went more than three weeks without a dryer in my apartment and had to carry all my laundry down and outside the building to a unit to use a washer and dryer. Not ideal.I found Ayah to be a very difficult property manager to work with. She is sweet, but just not on top of issues, promises a lot but delivers very little, and makes you feel like you are bothering her if you just ask for any little thing. Its a nice building if nothing breaks and you dont need any property management. Otherwise, I cant recommend you live there.

If I could give the Fahrenheit a zero (or more accurately a negative rating), I would. Let me preface this by saying that my roommate and I initially loved everything about this building--especially the location and the modern building style. but BE WARNED--these two benefits of the building are not worth the HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT and the unprofessionalism that accompanies them.We first scheduled a tour to visit the building. Upon arrival, we were left waiting in the lobby by Saray, one of the employees who gives tours. When my friends gave her a call, she was still over at the Columbia Uptown when the tour was supposed to begin. Keep in mind that both the Fahrenheit and the Columbia Uptown are managed by the same people. My friends and I decided to ignore Sarays disregard for our time unpon her late arrival because we fell in love with the look of the building. Saray informed my friends and I that two 2 bedrooms were available on the same floor for my three friends and I (we wanted to live together) in the exact timeframe that we were looking to move-in. So, she rushed us to apply in her office immediately following the tour. She assured us that these two apartments would definitely be available to accommodate us. This, however, was an EMPTY PROMISE if I ever did hear one.A couple of days later, my roommate gets a call from the most disrespectful and unprofessional individual in this situation--her name is Ayah, the leasing agent for Van Metre apartments--AKA for both the Columbia Uptown and the Fahrenheit building. She informed my roommate that Saray made a mistake and there was actually only one two bedroom left in our move-in time frame--seems like a HUGE mistake to make. She then insisted that there was a problem with our application because of a collections amount. However, my roommate informed Ayah that this problem has been resolved, and she offered to show Ayah documentation that the issue was resolved. Ayah refused to talk to us about the problem, saying she couldnt disclose information about our own application??? Doesnt make sense at all. Ayah then proceeded to refuse to take all of the following calls from my roommate and I asking for details on the status of our application. At one point, my roommate even heard Ayah hand the phone off to Saray because she didnt feel like dealing with it at the moment. Every other time I have called the Columbia Uptown desk that Ayah and Saray reside at, they have subsequently ignored my calls. Ayah has repeatedly ignored emails from my roommate and I. The management of the Columbia Uptown and the Fahrenheit are absolutely horrible and not worth the buildings AT ALL.Moral of the story: avoid buildings and interactions with Ayah, property manager of Van Metre Apartments. She has zero respect for potential tenants, and she conducts business in an extremely immature manner.
